“we [Polyphony Digital] are going to start online championships, and some of those will be official championships and some of those will be the championships organized by community managers.”

Sounds like iRacing to me. I hope we can set hp/kg/PP all at once. That was one of the major problems with online.

I just want a search feature for finding races/rooms.

Not endless scrolling, refreshing the random listings as found in GT5.

If I feel like racing on comformt softs, show me rooms with that restriction active.
If I want to race with 400PP max... show me those rooms..

Now heres where it gets crazy, what if I want comfort softs AND 400PP... come on make it happen.

Don't make me spend 45mins finding the room that matches my mood, only for it to lag out and force me to repeat the process from scratch :(

Well this is big news in the latest GTP News article:

While speaking about the new online racing features of GT6, he announced “we [Polyphony Digital] are going to start online championships, and some of those will be official championships and some of those will be the championships organized by community managers.”

Official online championships... I honestly don't know whether to be scared or excited. Can't wait to see how well run this is all going to be, and who's going to be running it. Will there be actual interaction from PD or Sony on the 'chips, or will they just run automatically every so often and average out points week to week like in iRacing?

Well, yeah that would probably be going way to far in speculating. What I'm thinking it's gonna be is just, what I call at least, sprint championships in the spirit of intermediate A-spec championships. So maybe just quick 'chips where it'll be 5 rounds at around 5-10 laps each. Would still be cool, but I'm much more interested in seeing how much free reign we'll have in setting up our own championships... that is, if we can. What's a "community manager"? I'm thinking it's a bit overstated by the translator and Kaz could just be referring to organizers of the championship, who can be anyone.

But anyway, if the system allows us to create realistic distance races spaced weeks apart with schedules and shareable results and time tables, it'll be the best thing ever. But if it restricts us to setting up championships the way they see it being, then no thanks, we'll stick to creating our own.

But yeah, online championships confirmed.

"...users will have the chance to create and share Race Events amongst them, and the proper community tools will be implemented to support this new feature."

I hope that the "proper community tools" will be extensive & include things like championship points tables etc, plus everything Wardez said.

I hope that by "proper community tools" they don't refer to the 7th definition here: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/tool#Noun

:sly:

If there were no 7th definition tools around, online racing would be a lot less fun.

What it sounds like to me, is that you (the "community manager") can define settings for an event and save them, and much in the same way, that would provide the basis for PD releasing their own "official" events, sort of like the successor to the Seasonal Events in GT5. It would provide a "template" for certain racing classes without anyone having to go through the trouble of figuring out which cars, tracks or other settings to choose. I foresee that members of the GTP-racing community will largely tinker with those settings themselves though. :sly:

What I have no idea about and what surely is the most complicated thing to solve, is how you would implement multiple race events on different days in a streamlined sort of way.

What I'm certainly hoping for is either a method of seeing installed parts and current power/weight/PP on a car in a lobby (easy to implement), or a method of restriction for each allowed car for a race (more work to implement). I'm assuming there will be a possibility to choose specific car models only for an event, so there would have to be an additional menu to be able to pick each allowed or restricted part (or worse: for all allowed cars the same) and to set power/weight/PP-restrictions for each car individually.

I really hope this means an online system like in GT5P is implemented. That's what it sounds like to me since PD will be hosting them.

That would be great. As far as pick up racing goes, I enjoyed the GT5P system far more than GT5. The downside being it was impossible to hold proper league races, but if they combine the two systems that would be an excellent start.

If they make the system a bit more like iRacing, that will be even better. It still has the best service for pick-up racing available.

I'd like it if the time change slider was in percentages instead of the arbitrary 1-60 value we have now. That way, it would be easier to scale down 24 hour races. For instance; a full 24 hour transition would be chosen by selecting 100%, whereas a 12.5% setting would result in a full 24 hour in game cycle in just 3 real hours.

Similarly it would be nice if they gave us full control over the weather throughout a race, instead of just giving us a slider, and then letting the weather gods decide what will happen.

Just noticed a few of the people who are racing in the screen shoot have named themselves after types of wine.

For sure! Would be nice to have the weather change from cloudy to sunny & vice versa without the chance of any rain. The more options the better I say. 👍

I'm hoping that us series host's will have more options at our fingertips, come on let's face it GT has evolved a lot towards online racing now.

I'd like to see more easier options to getting diff speced cars Into a race easier rather than doing checks 1 by 1 which takes a while and is a headache, as we all know the PP system didnt work out well as the cars were still not balanced well.

I think and hope PD have catered for us hosts more this time.

What else do you guys think us hosts could do with with regards to options to make our lives easier?

Edit: I'd also like to see better options for penaltys like for corner cutting as the one in gt5 wasn't right or consistant throughout the tracks ie... Monza you could cut quite a bit at the 2nd chicane and ascari before you get a time penalty whereas at Fuji you only have to go wide a little and you get 1.

Definitely would like to be able to restrict nitrous and a specific tire model. Also, would like to set a specific car out of MY garage, not the recommended.
Also, would like to be able to bring out a kart and a Dodge Ram on the track at the same time. Basically, the unrestricted setting means bring literally any car from your garage out if you would like. Soooo, in return I would like to be able to disable certain cars.

Hope you don't mind, but you have to keep in mind that not everyone in a lobby may have the same car as you. That's just like saying you want everyone to race in an Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 V6 24V '01, when maybe half of the lobby has no idea of waht you're asking them to race in, simply because they have never owned/driven/seen the car.

I see where you're coming from, but that does seem a bit far-fetched to me. Feel free to argue your point. 👍

You have a point.

I am felling a sense of freedom right now.

Suppose you create a room for a specific car(s). You start the race and at the last second a guy pulls out a red bull. The state of my mind would be exploding in terror and/or frustration at that very moment. It might cause me to get angry and shut my system off immediately not saving my game. Then ....blah blah.

Anyways I have seen rooms for specific cars, if you join wanting to use a different car, why did you join the room in the first train of your thoughts?

The host should be able to boot someone without backing out of the race. Maybe there could be a full course caution or pause the race after a brief countdown. Or perhaps the host's car could continue on bot controlled while the host finds and boots the offending driver/s. I think these ideas would make it more likely for more people to host as it is just not fair for the host to be penalized for booting an idiot.

I was getting at more towards private lobby's for league races not open lobby's where anyone can join.

First, once a race begins anyone who is not in the race should be on auto mute and the is no need for the messaging screen when a race is under way.

Better tire restrictions. The host should be able to select the tire compounds allowed. Comfort, street, or racing tires only and perhaps being able to restrict to soft, medium, or hard tire only.

A real penalty system, none of this ghosting nonsense. If someone cuts the track to gain position,s the game to force the player to give back the position or he would loose is position on the leader board and money at the end of the race. I would also like to see a flag system being used for cautions or black flagging players.

Lastly, better car restrictions. It's a pain to constantly tell players that car isn't allowed. The host should be able to restrict between racing or non racing cars, engine sizes (4, 6, 8 cylinders etc) or even the have the ability in creating a custom allowable list of cars. I really dislike it when people go for the race car when everyone else is using street cars just because the race car is allowed in by the current set of restriction.

I would also like to see an option to mute all players rather than having to click mute to them all individually.

I thought you meant MY garage as sharing your garage not GT's garage. Because Ive felt thats what it always should have been. Pick a certain amount of favourites and theyre available to use by anyone in your room until you leave. Helps out people new to GT. Or people who havent collected certain cars you have. If you have cars you made for a specific series and your room is Vintage Muscle Cars 650hp on SM tyres. It saves the pain of someone either leaving the room, having to pick a bone stock 112mph maxed out Mach 1 or buying upgrades and the race is starting in 17...16...15...14..13..

Thank goodness for autosave!

Well, some room titles are vague. Let's suppose, I (a random player) joins a room called "Races @ 550PP". Soon enough, the host (you) restrict the lobby to a specific car. There's absolutely no way that I (or anyone else) could have known that the room is going to be based on what ever car you chose. Ergo, people leave the lobby in a panic to go find the said car.

Like @05XR8 said, if you want to restrict the lobby to something you own, then PD shoul make it to where you can favorite it, then anybody else in the lobby can use it until you leave.

Private lobbies, invitations, sequence of tracks and scoreboards (mini championships).

AI drivers filling vacancies.

Street legal restriction.

Recommended car from MY GARAGE (kolio123's idea). As you point it, the game could borrow a copy of the car without setup (just tune parts) for everyone in the lobby who doesn't have it.

A leveled matchmaking (just as in GTA V), so you can face whoever matches your lap times.

Also maybe a licence level option, that way only super licence bods can enter the room as you know they have put some effort into driving correctly.
