I'm not quite sure what your talking about anymore... But what I meant was that you could just put a racing livery with vinyls and sponsors just like real life.

Sorry, my fault, I thought you were on the "I want a custom livery" bandwagon. My mistake.

Either way, I can't remember clearly but I thought something was mentioned about "special liveries"? Maybe that could be useful.

We're pretty much on the same page here. I'd like predefined liveries as well, just no customs!

What makes more sense is to start simple and assess. In the first release, they could have allowed us to put numbers on the car, and only numbers. That would have been a great baby step. Can't write or draw profanity there. Second iteration could have added racing stripes in fixed locations on the car. Ditto. Third iteration could have experimented with the option of allowing racing stickers. Again, ditto. Fourth iteration could have experimented with allowing custom stickers using profanity filters. Might have worked. This can be done gradually. That's my point.

Profanity filters don't work. You can make words out of images and will by-pass the filter all together. Have you ever played Black Ops 2? Tons of obscene images on there.

They should give us brand stickers at least, that could work well.

.

A couple of bad apples shouldn't ruin it for the rest. I know GT won't be as bad as COD because of the fan base. I know there will be some upsets but the majority of us are adults and can act like one when seeing an obscene image. Then we can have some sort of report feature that when reaches a set amount auto detaches the livery.

We need a club tag livery editor for custom online club stickers and themes. I don't want my clubs tag looking identical to 10 different other clubs!

I was doing online with my brother a few days ago in GT5 and I didnt see an option to make the race private. Not only that but the connection was very unstable even though I have 150MB/s internet connection

Damn... do you not know how to make a lounge?

You have to go through community and find your name, then go on the little coffee cup icon, this is your private lounge where only friends can join.

To be fair, it's not obvious in GT5 if you're new to it, but thankfully the option stands out like a sore thumb in GT6.

Not that it matters now, we'll be playing GT6 on Friday.

If a person has created a league, wouldn't the team(s) be more personalised with matching liveries?
That sounds more like a "clan" or team, than a "league" to me.
How does a "League Creator" equal "Team"? Those aren't the same! Why would they need matching liveries?
Exactly.

And I don't think it's necessary either way. Though there's a whole thread about livery editing wishes.

Edit append: And no, not all leagues have teams.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the league creation thing.
But my idea of a league is like a bunch of people who get together to race against each other.
I would think of a clan or team, as a bunch of people who travel together working together. But I don't know... Gran Turismo isn't exactly a co-op game generally, but I'd assume people were doing intramurals of some type?

Maybe someone has a better understanding about how this all relates to the online options we're looking at?

Edit append: and man, take the livery discussion to the livery editor thread.
Because it's confusing me about what we're talking about her regarding league options.

Thank you. I never knew how to do that because I never had any interest on playing online until my brother wanted to play a few days ago.

All that was said was that "Community" features were going to launch later in January. I expect everything else to do with online racing to be live as soon as GT6 officially releases, including Quick Match.

Quick Match is in the Update section, though, so... 💡

I hope we can change are oil while we are in a lobby so that way we won't have to back out the room. Anybody agree?
aye

Pretty sure this have been said a million times but anyway : gaps to each car in front and each car behind, please. And show the fastest lap of the race at the end. Please.

This! Plus an option to turn off text chat and "userX entered/left the room" once race is started. It's so annoying sometimes.

I'm in agreement with you guys that have mentioned it. Implementation of PD sponsored races would be a great addition. I hope it's similar to GT5 prologue. I enjoyed racing against people from all over the world with out having to search for them. Under the current system, you have to search for a host that wants to race against anyone, rather than just their countrymen.

From the manual:
・Room Privacy
Define the privacy level of the room. When set to "Public", anyone can join. When set to "Friends Only", room entry will be restricted to friends of the room's creator. If the room owner changes, the privacy setting will be passed on as-is to the new owner.

This is too bad, no passwords :(.

This is what we're getting for GT6. Much of the same problems from GT5 will be carrying over, at least until updates hopefully make things better, especially in January. I'm hoping Clubs make it so we don't have to go through the old workaround of starting private leagues by having everyone add a dummy account. If Clubs are around, hopefully holding club races is as easy as having member only lobbies and membership isn't arbitrarily limited in numbers to less than 50. Even if it is small, we can always make multiple clubs (PURE1-PURE2-etc.)

Here's some interesting things I found from the manual though:

・Race Format
Select "Race Alone" and cars other than your own will not be displayed. Select "Race Together" and all the cars that are taking part in the race will be displayed.

・Start Type
Choose how the race will start. A grid start takes place from a standstill. A grid start with false start check also takes place from a standstill, but drivers must keep their foot on the brake until the moment the race starts. A rolling start takes place while the cars are moving, and a double-file rolling start takes place while the cars are moving in two columns. The start types available depend on the track.

・Minimum No. of Pit Stops
Set the minimum number of pit stops that must be taken during the race. Any driver that does not make the minimum number of pit stops will incur a penalty at the end of the race.

・Require Tyre Type Change
Choose whether or not a tyre change is required during a race. If this setting is activated, drivers who do not change tyre type during the race will incur a penalty.

But this... sounds the same :( :

・Slipstream Strength
Sets the strength of the slipstream generated by cars. Slipstream is a force that sucks a car closer to the car in front of it when travelling at high speeds - an effect caused by differences in air pressure. For a more realistic experience, select "Weak". This will lessen the effects of slipstream, while at the same time replicating the loss of downforce on the slipstreaming car that occurs in real life.

This is a triumph though!

・One-Make Car Selection
Choose which type of car can be used in a One-Make Race. The room owner can choose from a selection of cars especially chosen for One-Make Races. These cars are considered "loan cars", meaning that even if other players don't own that type of car, they will be loaned one for the duration of the race. Car Settings cannot be adjusted for cars loaned in this manner.

Things needed in online mode:
1. arranging rooms according to ping/lag
2. PD servers to host the races like in battlefield. Would make the connection far more stable and reliable for a much improved online performance.
3. For "Clean Race": License system like iracing, where contact with other cars, going out of the track, and accidents are punished. Can then filter players according to safety rating ect... This can be reset, but theyd have to start from 0 so it would take some time to get them back to an acceptable safety rating.
4. Quick match: Happy to see its already done and implemented
5. Search: Then search for races according to criteria: car types, pp restriction, tires, aids, ect... anything and everything.
6. league/community to join ( I think this will be available in Jan) with organized leagues ect..
7. Livery editor: Unlikely to happen :(
8. national leagues: Help get fellow gt racers from the same country together.

Wow, just thought about this again.

This is huge, we'll never have to worry about inspecting cars, we can make spec races at any spec with any parts the league organizer chooses, no more tuning prohibited racing needed for spec racing!

I hope they can extend this feature of loan cars to multi-make races too, can you imagine that? We would be able to keep all the cars spec'ed out in the garages of owners and release them to each racers instead of having to do inspections.

Can I just point out though, before you get your hopes up, reread this section:
"The room owner can choose from a selection of cars especially chosen for One-Make Races. These cars are considered "loan cars".
Not meaning to be a debbie downer on this matter, but it seems like we're going to have another 'Recommended' garage situation when it comes to these one-make races. I really hope I'm wrong, though.

Another interesting thing I saw was this:
・Mechanical Damage
Choose the amount of damage that will be inflicted on the engine, wheels etc. by collisions and crashes, from one of the three settings described below. When mechanical damage is inflicted, it may cause wheels to wobble and rattle, prevent the car from travelling in a straight line, or stop the engine from working properly. Parts that have been damaged will be displayed on the on-screen damage indicator.
None: Only external damage will be inflicted. Mechanical damage will not be inflicted, but external damage may still disrupt the car's aerodynamics, preventing the car from travelling in a straight line and reducing top speed.
Light: External damage and mechanical damage will both be inflicted. Mechanical damage will be automatically repaired after a short amount of time has passed.
Heavy: External damage and mechanical damage will both be inflicted, even after a mild impact. Damage will only be repaired if you perform a pit stop.
This makes me wonder if turning off visible damage will stop this from happening, and exactly how much of an effect this damage will actually have on performance. Also, I wonder if 'the new Standards' have a reduced effect.
I don't think this was in GT5, so that's pretty cool.

It almost sounds like these loan cars will be stock cars. I hope the lobby leader can tune them/upgrade and pick tire choice. Either way I think this will be better than shuffle.

Would be nice a drag track!! So, you can adjust 1/4, 1/2 or 1 mile. With traffic lights or hot girls with flags of course... :)

I really hope we get a proper drag mode for online. I know I'm probably getting my hopes up. BTW fellow evo owner saying what's up! (evo9)

Yeah.. The wording makes it sound like its the same as it was in GT5.

I also really hope they toned down the slipstream in "weak" mode as this setting still allowed people to draft from an insane distance. If I'm 1-2 seconds/lap faster than you, the slipstream shouldn't allow you to be able to hang with me.

From the manual that just went live. Minimum licence required before you have access to online is National A Licence:

Once you acquire your National A Licence in career mode, Open Lobby mode becomes available.

Update edit: Also a minimum of National A Licence required to unlock Seasonal Events:

Once you acquire your National A Licence in career mode, Seasonal Events become available

Thanks to @amar212 thread.

Whats up?? So you have a Evo too?? Nice! You do track days lr something. Send MP if you want, I think this is problably flood so...

Another good thing would be nice speed limit, is so bad when Im in a cruise lobby and a prototype hit... Always happen.. Or meet lobby too

How does a "League Creator" equal "Team"? Those aren't the same! Why would they need matching liveries?

In the real world, many racing series will have their own sponsor decals that they require teams to run, as well as standardized number plates so that cars have consistent number styling.

I don't personally think that this is an essential feature, or something that PD should prioritize, but there is a foundation for asking for it.

I hope they add a slider at some point, because 'Strong' and 'Weak' is way too imprecise and also way too vague.

Isn't this just referring to the recommended garage? GT5 "loaned" people a car from the recommended garage.

EDIT: shoulda refreshed the page before I posted. :dunce:
