From the manual:
・Room Privacy
Define the privacy level of the room. When set to "Public", anyone can join. When set to "Friends Only", room entry will be restricted to friends of the room's creator. If the room owner changes, the privacy setting will be passed on as-is to the new owner.
This is too bad, no passwords

.
This is what we're getting for GT6. Much of the same problems from GT5 will be carrying over, at least until updates hopefully make things better, especially in January. I'm hoping Clubs make it so we don't have to go through the old workaround of starting private leagues by having everyone add a dummy account. If Clubs are around, hopefully holding club races is as easy as having member only lobbies and membership isn't arbitrarily limited in numbers to less than 50. Even if it is small, we can always make multiple clubs (PURE1-PURE2-etc.)
Here's some interesting things I found from the manual though:
・Race Format
Select "
Race Alone" and cars other than your own will not be displayed. Select "Race Together" and all the cars that are taking part in the race will be displayed.
・Start Type
Choose how the race will start. A grid start takes place from a standstill. A grid start with false start check also takes place from a standstill, but drivers must keep their foot on the brake until the moment the race starts.
A rolling start takes place while the cars are moving, and a double-file rolling start takes place while the cars are moving in two columns. The start types available depend on the track.
・Minimum No. of Pit Stops
Set the minimum number of pit stops that must be taken during the race.
Any driver that does not make the minimum number of pit stops will incur a penalty at the end of the race.
・Require Tyre Type Change
Choose whether or not a tyre change is required during a race.
If this setting is activated, drivers who do not change tyre type during the race will incur a penalty.
But this... sounds the same

:
・Slipstream Strength
Sets the strength of the slipstream generated by cars. Slipstream is a force that sucks a car closer to the car in front of it when travelling at high speeds - an effect caused by differences in air pressure. For a more realistic experience, select "Weak". This will lessen the effects of slipstream, while at the same time replicating the loss of downforce on the slipstreaming car that occurs in real life.
This is a triumph though!
・One-Make Car Selection
Choose which type of car can be used in a One-Make Race. The room owner can choose from a selection of cars especially chosen for One-Make Races. These cars are considered
"loan cars", meaning that even if other players don't own that type of car, they will be loaned one for the duration of the race. Car Settings cannot be adjusted for cars loaned in this manner.
