Hi everyone!

I hope you all are doing marvellously fine. Haven't been around here much for quite some time (almost a year, I think), because I had quit daily races out of frustration about the in-race behaviour of some guys (and for some other reasons).

But last week PD presented the unresistable Race A combo with the Mazda touring car, so I gave it a try. I did five races (on my practice account, to protect my ratings on my main account (boy, did I feel rusty)). The outcome wasn't very satisfying, as I got rear-ended in four of these races (that's 80%, right? 😆). But: I raced in DR B / SR B-C lobbies, so my question is: how is driver behaviour in higher rated lobbies? Has it improved a bit? Should I dive into it again? What do you guys think?
Hey!! Dude we (at least me) missed you! 💔

Since you left I had to deal with weekly challenges against a peasant named @newmedia_dev (known as Glen in GT7) 🤣 You put me in a difficult spot there... 🤣

On a serious note, welcome back! Driving standards haven't changed unfortunately BUT you do get a fair race a bit more often than before, so the fun balances against the rage I guess... Deep Forest is made for punts on the final hard-left before the start/ finish but if you build a 0.5s gap to dude behind or else have the opportunity to allow the ones in front to take each other out and you drive past, it's not so bad!

As for our friendly LB competition, it's been getting tighter and tighter - quite fun to be honest! Hope to have you challenging us again from now on, permanently!

Yes! Top right. Smushed against the face to full scuba mask. I prefer one click off of smushed as its similar to most helmets ive worn.

Yes with the training of mirror checks. It requires minimal movement of the head and youre no longer surprised when someone blasts into your radar. Clock em about 1-2secs back, then keep track. Easy peasy
Thanks, I can't believe I'd forgotten all about that adjustment, must have set it a year ago when I first got the setup and forgotten about it. Defintely an improvement going for the Smushed option.

Talking about fight club, or not! Found myself in a race with with the man in pink, ** *****. On one I hand I should thank him for my 5th place, wouldn't have happened without his help. But god he is one sad miserable a-hole, he's clearly fast, qualified it on pole in an all A race. End of 2nd lap he had a clear lead, so he slowed down just so he can ram people off, spent the whole race doing that, if he gets ahead slows and starts wrecking people.

Also had another rather strange occurrence, 3rd on the grid was stuck parked at the start, caused the front half the grid to spread out, the back half all bunched up together. He was still there parked in the middle of the main straight for three or four laps, got hit by a couple of cars, then he disapeared.

I checked back on the replay, and he won! The replay showed him stuck until at some point where he suddenly warped to the middle of the lap, still shown on lap 1. But then when he reached the line he magically leapt forward a few laps to be in the lead. Well that's one good trick to escape Mr *********.

Yes, I remember Leon, he has been a longtime member here on GTplanet. I miss NikNakTabasco. He was also an old member who has been gone for a while. He used to play a lot of GTsport but then he just disappeared.

@TechnoIsLove , lol your name comes from the term, technology. You are an expert at it.

Just finished my first Race B this week, in the Lancer. We'll brush over the fact that I started pole, got 4 seconds of well-deserved wall penalties, and finished next-to-last. Nobody's fault but my own.

I know it's only one race, but I'm not sure the Lancer has enough speed down the main straight to be as competitive as I thought it would be. The Veyron seems to have a crap-ton of top-end speed. It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
Hi everyone!
Welcome back! You were missed, for sure.
If that was me, I would be furious about it!
I understood him completely, and I have plenty of Karma still due to me for having done the same thing a lot previously, before I (mostly) quit raging. From his perspective, I divebombed him, and he decided to pay me back. Like I said, I've done that a few times myself.

Also, the fact that I've forced myself down into the below-50% DR B range means I don't have any real skin in the game. It's not like I was just about to move up to A, or was trying to hold on to A. I can't even see A from where I am.

Kind of, it's a 2-for-1 special actually 🤣 I really do work in technology, Director of Product Development for our software company.

But more important than that, techno music! Proper techno none of that EDM, house bull-crap 🤣

NikNak sold his rig etc. when he disappeared. Quite early on in GT7s life I believe.

Hoping to give race B a run today. Looks to be Veyron approved.😁

Now, the real reason I'm here....so, uuhhhh, what qualifies as 'real' techno as opposed to the crap??? Is this a Bigod 20 -vs- Trolley Snatcha thing???

Top five DJ/producer?

Edit. I should’ve scrolled up before asking you the same exact question. 🙈

Welcome back!

SR B-C lobbies are the absolute worse. I'm racing mid A/A+ lobbies now with SR S and the racing is much better and in my experience mostly clean and well fought. Even though I'm not that good in these lobbies and am still off the pace, I prefer them when I can keep up as the racing I find is just that much better. It is close and knocks do happen though, but to me those are mostly racing incidents and not just incompetence and dirtiness.

B/S lobbies are also okay on my alt account. The racing can be a bit more variable at B but that could also be the times I race on the Europ lobbies. Generally, I would say, if you ever drop below S, it is worth sacrificing DR (if needed) to get yourself back to S asap as the SR B/C crowd will only drag you down further.
Thanks a lot for the welcome and the great advice. Seems like I'll have to restore some SR on my spare account (I'm currently SR B there and trending downwards, shame on me!), to get into nicer lobbies and have some clean races to hopefully get back to form.🥳

Welcome back! You were missed, for sure.
Hey Grumpy, thank you, much appreciated! Are the guys still making jokes about elderly people like us?😜

Hi buddy, same here, missed you and the good people here!

Hopefully I can get back into halfway competitive shape. Comparing my qualifying laps, which I did from time to time, to the usual suspects on my friends list, seems like I've fallen behind quite a bit. Don't know if I'll have enough time to find decent speed again (still a lot of annoying real life stuff going on), but I'll try. There's definitely an Alfa or a Scirocco missing on that list. 😆

God, I despise that last sharp left turn at Deep Forest. It always gets me stuck and it ruins my lap. I feel like I'm lost in Switzerland everytime I muck up here. I had a wild first race at DF. I got the pole time of 1'35.680 in races 1 and 2. I did good on Lap 1 and then I led most of Lap 2 until I misjudged my speed on that sharp left turn and hit the wall, and P2 and P3 passed me because of this. So, then on Lap 3 I guess I got tired and hit the wall near the ambulance and got a 1.5 sec penalty. Laps 4 and 5 was okay but I finished in almost last place. What a way to start the week.

Race 2 was tense too, I led laps 1 and 2 and then someone hit me and caused me to bump into the wall near the first tunnel. I went back on the throttle to try to catch up, laps 3 and 4 were utter carnage and chaos. I must have been tired because I hit the wall several times. Lap 5 went well, I finished in 12th place, and I got a CRB.

@Leon Kowalski, yes welcome back to the thread. I don't know if you remember me, I'm Chris. So you and Techno were longtime friends?

just got to short shift which means I'm watching the rev counter too much
You don't need to watch the revs - you learn really quickly what sound you should be shifting around.

Um, maybe - I don't remember! (Old age joke)
God, I despise that last sharp left turn at Deep Forest.
I suspect you're in the majority with hating that turn. I certainly do (hate it).

A - Finally experienced my first meme race. It was... something. After three races, I'll be steering well clear of that event for the rest of the week. 😅

B - Having a rough time at Deep Forest. Slowly finding my rhythm to get a 1:34.419 QT, but losing small chunks of time going up the back straight, and losing massive chunks of time at the final hairpin.

After a handful of races there, my DR took a beating and dropped from a B to a C, due to my own mistakes, and from people who seem to be having a rougher go at it than me.

Good luck to everyone doing Gr.4.

C - Tried to set a Gr.2 QT, but was already so frustrated from DF, I called it a day.

Jumped onto my second account after a week off to get myself acclimated again, did a few Daily Race B’s at Deep Forest and the only thing I have to say is PD come outside I just want to have a chat 😂

I don’t normally give out about penalties as it’s hard coded into the game where certain conditions are met it’s a penalty. Therefore, without any arbitrary system in place, this unequivocally fair

First one:

For some reason the driver behind was flashing his lights, probably from an earlier tangle on opening lap so I was expecting something and he drove right through the back of me intentionally… I held my brakes until I was beyond track limits when I realised I was going to hit the wall, might aswell speed up the process and let go of my brakes before I hit it. An intentional hit and hitting the wall with or without brakes and I received a penalty for it. Race ruined.

Second one:

Received a 3 second penalty for minor contact which resulted in no damage and no cars were really affected by

I normally take a wide line through here because I don’t think a lot of players know the track limits are beyonds the curb on this turn so I was having a lot of success getting a good exit via this line

However, with the two cars going off ahead, I tried to avoid them by swinging to the inside and barely grazing the car as I was being bumped constantly from behind

No idea how this was a penalty for me, as

1. I didn’t put any cars off or even remotely hit them hard enough

2. Neither car ahead got penalties for wall contact even though they caused the collision

3. I was kind of a passenger being squeezed through the tight inside line as the car behind me was using me as his brakes constantly and kept pushing me through the corner

4. If anyone deserved a penalty in this incident, it was both the cars ahead and the car behind me as I was the only one who tried to avoid contact and the only one that didn’t go beyond track limits or touch a wall..

Honestly baffled by these lol. Especially the second incident

Edit: Apart from that had some good races from the back of the grid! Began in the Ferrari which just didn’t have enough speed then decided to jump in the Veyron. First time I ever used the Veyron, and honestly I was not expecting it to have such great handling. Immediately my times were a full second quicker per lap than the Ferrari and had a few runner ups

Anyone who's read my posts before will know I like having cars in different eras compete against each other, and that I don't want GT to become another game where you only ever race cars against opponents in their exact same class.

With that said, this week's Race C is an example of why Gr.2 as constructed doesn't work; the '90s Le Mans cars shouldn't be there (or they should be BoP'd a lot better). The speed differential in the corners causes chaos as people have to account for the vastly different braking points/cornering speeds, and then on the straights a GT-One or CLK just breezes past Super GT cars, only to then hold them up for a lap. It's too different.
Why not pull them out of Gr2 and pull the old Group C cars out of Gr1 and create a new historic sports racer/prototype class, leaving Gr2 for Super GT cars and Gr1 for modern prototypes?

Glad to hear it! I was messing with it the other day, did a lap at about 75% scuba mask. That wasn’t great, at all.

its impressive how much better things are when its close and perpendicular.

It would have been even better if PD had chosen Group 1 categorized cars for the Fuji race. But we get what we get and we have to roll with it.

Strongly disagree. At the time of contact, I was only doing 52mph. I could take that turn at 42mph, which would have been easy to reach from there.

Oddly enough, I'm not so concerned with where you braked. I'm more concerned that it's clear from the video, and the screenshot here, that you weren't headed for the apex at all. For the Ferrari, what he could have expected to be side on contact at worst, became closer to a t-bone.

Remember you've entered on a much narrower line than usual so if you can "usually" take it at 42, you can probably only take it at 35 (or something similar) from that entry line.

In general I'd say people doing this sort of thing immediately after serving a penalty is a pet hate for me. Take your licks, accept you've been overtaken and reload. Don't go super-aggressive and risk ruining the race of someone who's just driving the normal line at the normal speed.

For the Ferrari, he needs to have better awareness and realize you are entering on a horribly compromised line. Apexing later than normal would have allowed him to avoid contact and drive off into the distance.

If anyone is thinking of running the Toyota GT one in race C don't bother. The car has been BoPed into oblivion. Its barely any faster than a Gr.3 car.

@Barney Da Dog saw you in one race where I got pushed wide, dropped a wheel to the grass and binned at the final corner of the final lap, fighting for 1st..that's the time I lost the most DR ever in 1 single race!

I wondered what happened there. I only did 3 or 4 A races, sticking mostly to B and C.
I came across @Tidgney facing backwards too on Race B, though he was soon back past me.

Nice to see @Leon Kowalski back - hadn't realised you'd been out for so long!

I'll likely be sticking to Race C this week - love a bit of Gr2 action.

Do Keokie, DJ micro or the planet of the drums crew qualify ?
Personally I’m much more into Hip Hop/ turntables. Like the Incredible Scratch Pickles, Beat Junkies, Z Trip etc.
do you spin records? Like actual vinyl records not the digital stuff 🍻
