Inspired by yesterday´s @Barney Da Dog post I decided to try the GT-R on daily C

Ahhh, I feel better now - non NSX win.

I think the Nissan is quicker on the straights and feels more stable to me on turn in. It may be slightly better on worn tyres too?

After the race, I managed to improve my Q time by a tenth on my NSX time, and there's definitely more to be had (was 2 tenths up in the first sector of the following lap)

1:48.370

Definetely better on worn tyres but I feel it way more "nervous" on turns than the NSX.
On the NSX in Casio Triangle I can go full throttle on 2nd gear before entering the kerb at the exit of the chicane with almost no risk of a spin.

With the GT-R I had to be more gently with the throttle inputs and may be this is the answer to why the tyre degradation is better.
As a VR user I can also tell that the the cockpit of the GT-R is a bit dark and "oppresive". The NSX has a massive windshield and the interior feels more luminous and spacious.

I have the GT-R on TC1 and BB 2 to the front, if that helps? Had a very satisfying win in it today, started 5th. 2,3,4 spun, then I went a lap longer than the leader and somehow came out just ahead - he then spun coming out of the hairpin.

Would love to try VR, but worry about motion sickness.

I really hope they keep adding some competitive GR2 cars. Absolutely love how they drive. I nearly picked up a W in the '08 GTR the other night. It gets surprisingly good tire wear. Ran a 149.8 in the race but it just doesn't chew up the tires like the '16 cars do. The Lexus is the same way, but I couldn't get into the 149s with it. I think pitting with the '08s at the end of lap 4 is definitely in play and possibly even on lap 3. Either way, it's a long shot to beat the NSX and you'd have to have a good gap between everyone else that hasn't pitted. But man the NSX, wow... that thing at Suzuka is like a cheat code.

I have to say I’m very tempted too by vr, but I just couldn’t be stuck in cockpit mode, it’s my only gripe with Iracing.

I had an oculus a few years ago for my pc, assetto corsa, that was amazing sitting in a Ferrari f1 car on the grid, tracks like brands hatch looked fabulous with all the hills etc.

Sure there was a lock to horizon setting on that which totally eliminated motion sickness

I had the same fear because I never tried something like that in my life. The first time I played with VR was on GT7 at 41 years old.
In my case it went well, just a bit sick on the first day.

I tried it with no TC and BB on 0.
What I did notice was that trail braking in T1 was easier on the GT-R than in the NSX.

I will surely give it another chance.

I finally got to 1:55.8 on GV, and that put me with double digits on the leaderboard, but only second still on my friends list. Yes, that's you, @Dream_Catcher.

Three races, and guess what - the one beating me on the leaderboard is there, right in front of me for the first race. P1 was a car with 1:55:7, then DREAMCATCHER, then me. Boy was I nervous! P1 and P2 was flying away, me trying to keep up. Eventually I get down to P4, passed by a super fast Spanish driver, but the fight between P1 and P2 ended only at the finish line - DREAMCATCHER won with 0:00:000 delta! Closest I've seen. Hope he remembered to save the replay.

Race two and three was pretty exciting, some penalties, some missed brake marks and finally overheated tires after the complex of the twists in the middle section making the final chicane a lottery.

That final chicane is actually where your lap is won or lost. It dictates your speed through the final tunnel and up the hill. Get it good, and you can loose the cars behind, preventing them from slip streaming. Mess it up, and they get you at the hairpin in the valley.

My plan to stay BS is forgotten. The race to A+ has begun.

I'm enjoying race C as this is the first time using a GR2 car in the daily event. I decided to drive the Lexus just so it wouldn't be just NXS's on track. So after a cluster *uck in the first few corners, I just wanted to keep in touch with the leader and, if possible, attack after the pit stops. Roll video.

But in cockpit in VR is a completely different experience than in-cockpit on a flat screen. You have to understand that everything is a 1:1 life size perspective. A somewhat blurry perspective but life size nonetheless.

My Vr was my 54th birthday present. I felt really ill on things like Harry Potter 4D rides and the like at Universal so thought I would suffer with VR. i did not...

Oh lawd this was fun! Defending like a mofo, squeaking out P2 by the slimmest of margins: .001". Don't even care that it wasn't for P1 (P1 has the ninth fastest QT in the world so he was just gone).

The Supra is a missile while in slip but don't even care. That was a blast...

If the above doesn't work...

My little video of the last lap.

More from Grand Valley for Me thus evening. I still can't get my time down. I'll get it eventually.

Race 1 has me in P7 to start. And I'll up to P3 after the first lap. The same chaos as yesterday so I'll take some freebies. On the final lap, the driver is extremely desperate to make a pass and gives me a bump, that bumps the Lamborghini driver I was following. Naturally they take over P2 and I fall to P4 after the tussle. I was expecting a ramming attempt on the bridge straight but thankfully they didn't.

Race 2 has me in P8 and you guessed it, more chaos in front of me. I sneak though only to be dive-bombed and shoved off track and into a guardrail. I pick up my first penalty by just touching the wall entering the big sweeping tunnel turn. I settle in and finish P7 after all of that. Clean race bonus as well even after the wall tap.

My last race of the day has me in P7 and only 1 off track in the opening lap. Someone bumped me trying to make a pass and sends me into a wall. Of course I get a penalty for that. Not much happens the rest of the way and I finish P7 with a clean race bonus.

So far, a great week for me at Grand Valley. I think I'll just run laps until I set a new quick time before I race again as I can avoid the mess in the mid-pack. In theory anyway.

Yes and I can't explain why. Since the update (I think) the gr4 huracan became a bad car, in my opinion. I tried it last week in any possible set up and this week. It just feels really bad. So anybody, please give me your set up, if you managed a good time in it.. I remember i was always good in it, changing nothing, depending on track I sometimes put TCS to 1 but now..... And it's definitely not the fastest on the long uphill straight. Around 229kmh
For me it's exactly the opposite. Before the update I couldn't get along with the Lambo and now I almost only use it, not because it's often the meta, but because I can't get along with my Porsche RSR that I usually like. For GV I use TSK 0 and BB -1 or -2 and that gets me to 1:58.0xx. Unfortunately I can't do it any faster and I'm fascinated by the specialists here who drive much better. I don't change any other settings.

I bought my VR2 and other equipment after I stopped working last year after 44 years. I‘am the winner ;)

Had another clean and fair race in GV yesterday.

Eiger rules, and I'm excited about the B races as well. However Bathurst I'm skipping because I did a few races there a while back and now PD is adding this combo again, I hope it's not Group 3, make it Group 4 please. I got a pole time at Grand Valley yesterday in my 9th race, but as usual a few players still passed me so I winded up finishing 7th place. And I got a CRB too so that was one of the positives of the race and I got the top time in the lobby.

Slightly better than my first GR2 (first ever online race too) experience at Fuji a few years ago - I was lapped!! 😂

Solid work mate and great racing.

CRB, top 5, win are the priorities in that order.

If you hit any of those then it was a great fun race and you were the better driver

Not sure about next week tbh, A/B look a little meh - could do with a sardegna A the (not reverse) but Maybe MP will be ok, haven’t done that in a while, maybe PD throws something strange up like this week.

I managed to get into the 1.29s at RBR

This weekend between GV and RBR and the weekenders should serve up some sort of racing

Comfort kit arrived today, looking forward to fitting it and trying a couple of the Suzuka races this evening...wish me luck 🤣🤣🤣

Edit: Only took 5 minutes to fit, the youtube videos I watched made it look like a big job 🙈

Edit 2: First race of the week, started 3rd. First corner of the first lap and I got punted off. Turned off GT7, had enough of this game 🤬 ACC being reinstalled

Calmed down after my little tantrum earlier 🤣🤣 Decided to go for C again at 23:00.
Good race, no dirty drivers at all and a pretty straightforward win with a healthy 10 second gap 👍 First ever win in VR for me. Will try 1 more and see how we go 🤞
