I'll be honest this week has broken my love for GT quite a bit.

A "van race" with no DR a B race which is both a DR and SR killer on a great track to race AI but humans suck and a C race I can't technically get done in even my lunch break.

The only and I mean only upside I am going to take from this week is that I know how to get off barriers better and a collateral benefit that for the manu races tomorrow my lobbies will be less points but more pleasant...I hope.

What an awful circuit Sard A is for actual racing. The choke points are to tight and the amount of us that just finish better through attrition is crazy.

This is a week I will gladly move on from.
Mate I’m telling ya, gr4 sardegna would (might) have been a whole new story. I don’t know why they don’t just run hoppers for the greater field of classes on offer, not too many, I normally only do 1 race for the week, but some variety wouldn’t go amiss 🍻

I was feeling the same, but I put my nose to the grind stone, got my pace up on Race B, and I have had some great results in the past couple days.

That Genesis seems to work best (for me) with +2 brakes and shifting when the rpm meter is just past the "next gear" indicator. I think that's like 7000rpm.

(Edit, it's about 6500rpm)

Being fairly new to daily races, I’m curious is there any chance they will run Gr1 at Nurburgring next week? I had a blast running the old group C cars at monza. 962 was fun to battle with the faster new hybrid Le Mans cars.

I did the gr3 Nurburgring awhile back that was fun. We got caught in the rain and trundled around until it eased up. Weather was a fun addition to race C, I have not seen rain in a daily since. A challenge keeping the RSR pointed straight on slicks.

I love that helmet, and the design of it, can't believe the Playstation has been around 30 years, my first one was bought in 1998. Honestly I don't care about winning much anymore. What matters is having fun racing with your friends in Sport Mode. I was so brainwashed back then thinking I had to win every single time. Then I realized that this is just a video game and we are all a part of this racing experience.

It's not a walk in the park to do a perfect lap there.
That reminds me of something.
For a long time, I've thought it would be cool if they had Sophy set a perfect qualifying lap for each of the weekly races, with a replay that everyone could watch.
They showed us a while back that Sophy was capable of going much faster than some of the game's top aliens.
I thought that program would grow, and become more prevalent in the game, but it seems to have gone somewhat dormant.
Some folks questioned the way that Sophy pushed the track limits. Maybe they're addressing that.

Awesome going mate, I must admit the racing is better today since I jumped into the lambo. Couple of second places and a few thirds etc.

Not bad when I’m starting around 9th each race

The key is to just let them pass when you made a mistake and they do all the hard work for you fighting at the front and taking each other out 🤣

It's funny you say that but my shower thought this morning was instead of top time ghosts or our own ghost Sophy just towed us around a bit faster but matching our pace but each corner showing us progressively how to brake etc

They talked a lot about it being a driving companion and an aid so I'd rather follow an adaptive ghost who's actively staying in front rather than a ghost that is just that much quicker than me.

Edit:

@Chris30 that is a great spot the suit and helmet are 30th anniversary tributes to PlayStation 👍

I like the outfit!!

Didn't they have that in GT4? I recall an event where you chased the pace car, and the pace car just kept going faster. Funny what they can accomplish when they want to.

I had been quite looking forward to C this week, Gr2 is fun and I like Spa and it was a longer race so it should have been excellent, but unfortunately it's ruined by PD's inability to balance classes and it was just a procession of Hondas. I think I did 2 races on Monday and then just gave up. Neither of the other races tickled my fancy either, but I got stuck at work late a lot this week, so I didn't really lose out. Hopefully next week will be a bit more interesting.

No, it's a simple case that most people want to win. Being beat by the AI us not fun. It's frustrating for many. Personally, I would like to see them open the Sophy difficulty up to all of us.

Personally, I would use varying degrees of Sophy to help me find faster lines.

I discovered Sardegna basically this week, starting from scratch also with the mighty 911.
Today I chipped away 1/2 sec to an 1:40.911 (.911!?karma?) with an ideal of 1:40:5XX, btw, which I'll try to confirm tomorrow.
Made 7 races, finished 1... I start with an 1:41.002 at 1st race in pole. (c'mon not in pole, they'll wreck me, if I don't by my self). 1st lap ok, going away by .7 sec a lap... till 3rd lap where I smashed my self exiting from the last hairpin. The car was bent, congrats for retirement. It took me 6 races (5 retirements) to reach the Podium at last (3rd starting 2nd) in a surprisingly clean and fair race... Battling for 2nd with another 911, side by side with respect. Calling it for today, sometimes it takes just ar 8.5 min to make your day.

Ok, thank you. Maybe we will meet in the races one day in the near future.
Except, I am in the european zone, so as I understand things, that will not happen, right?

Oh, what a difference it makes to set a decent QT. Sardegna has been great when starting top three. 😊
Also, I congratulate myself for finally driving the supra with TC at zero - in racing. Working focused at QT, really makes you realise the subtle difference between TC 1 and TC 0. It really does matter - in particular when you have an accelerating zone with a bit of curbing or bumps.

And then a really weird thing: Started a Sardegna race at P2, P1 took themselves out after two laps, drove home as P1 in solitude. Guess what - my SR went down.🤣 Never was even near anybody. Is there any logical explanation to that?

I've had the same thing happen to me. I did 4 races on Thursday, and surprised myself with clean race bonuses in 3 of them.

Ran 4 races yesterday, got rammed into the guy in front of me in the first one, 4 seconds penalty and SR down. The next 3 races were all clean, no contact, no track limit penalties, SR down in all of them - now at SR A 🤨

Wonder what today will bring?

It’s a shame I haven’t managed a time in the 1.40s this week because I think I would have had a couple of wins, I was so close yesterday when I was running 4th, 1st & 2nd took each other out and me and the guy in front were hammer and tongs at it cleanly for 3 laps until I made a mistake, but I’m either finishing 2nd/3rd or somehow being dive bombed off and quitting 🤣 roll on Watkins Glen!

It happened tha same to me today. 1st and 2nd bumping each other leaving me the way for a free victory. Maybe yellow flags? I don't understand the loss in DS rating 🤔.

I guess I agree.
I love the long Spa race and I’ve raised my DR on both accounts racing there however, it’s a real time commitment. As the week progressed, I found that more often than not, I didn’t have an hour to spend or, that my availability wasn't exactly at the top of the hour.
Realistically, one reason I raised my DR is that half the grid was dropping out.

So, I too, am ready to move on.

I couldn't bring myself to race today so I painted the office/rig room and currently flattening out some car art I've had in tubes for ages

Edit the office pic is an old one I'll post a recent one when all the art is framed and up.

And my GT Omega office chair has been added since the office pic as well.

Roll on the Glen tomorrow!

Nice setup, fits like a glove at the end there. I especially like the window sill, perfect beer placement area 🤣

Yeah I just about had enough of sardegna today, some very good racing out there but also some terrible

Onto the Glen, Glen!

Sardegna is now full of psicos. Today I've finished only 3 races without being bumped out, always intentionally, even in long straits.
So I don't mind going DS "Z", but enough is enough.
I've been following this Tik Tok account called DTM 40, and I am surprised at how rough they are. It's like the old days of British Touring Cars. So, if the people in real life don't know what "driving etiquette" is, how can we expect it in a game? Especially when the consequences are minor or nonexistent?

I will renew my call for catastrophic damage that ends races.

Heck, I saw Max Verstappen punt a guy in a virtual race for blocking him

Agree, I had some good races early in the week - including one where 9 seconds separated 1st and 13th on the penultimate lap - but there was too much dirty driving, especially just barging past drivers, spinning them out. Last time it happened, I just caught up and took the offender out.

Problem is GT7 gives out real contact penalties (4-5 seconds), but only it seem if you hit the other car in the rear and they end up off track. Any other contact, even one that ruins someone’s race, goes unpunished.

It's a pity, cause the track width allows neck to neck races, when you end up in the right lobby. Today I went "rollercoaster" with my DR due to (not joking) 13 retirements. Back to 3/4 C from 1/3 B and back to B (DS from S to B meanwhile). What I don't really understand is the amount of dive bomb attempts outside the line and the weaving down the straights. I mean, when I look the grid, comparing the gap between my QT and the others, I know that there's no way I can overtake a guy 1 sec faster than me, unless he does a mistake. Even after the mistake the pass should be clean, especially if the guy in front was in pole. Personally, the idea of to ruin the poleman's race (or whoever one) makes me feel ashamed. Beside the wreckage (with some payback, I admit), I loved the kinda flow line like the old Zandvoort of Sardegna (except the last fast left before the last hairpin which is lil tricky). I'm looking forward to see some more daily races there.

Same feelings here. The roulette of what kind of neighbours you're gonna get at Spa, plus the dissatisfying feeling of earning places through attrition means it's an hour commited to something (let's be completely honest here) which has the potential to end up being more boring than a lot of the Single Player events.

Ok, you might have a really good race with cooperative partners. You might even just have a brief battle towards the end, but my overall experience has been either race 'ruined' early, or watching the delta as someone faster than I slowly reels me in because they crashed at the start.

Great idea, average execution.

Great week at Sardegna for me, hope y'all had a good time as well.👍

Bunch of great racing over the weekend. Had a couple not-so-great runs but for the most part I kept my 💩 together, which is refreshing. Was able to snag a win, though, so couldn't be happier...something special about seeing the whole train chasing YOU, lol:

Was having fun at T9 all weekend long. Discovered the outside line makes for a great defensive position through T1 as well:

Hope next week doesn't suck!!😁

Those were some of the best lunch plans EVER, lol. P2/3 Start and P2/2 finish. Woo to the freakin' hoo.

First race was uneventful after lap 1, but was happy to make it through T1. Hit the brakes late and had to dive to avoid making contact. Opened the door and killed speed but was able to hang on 'round the outside:

Second run started with calamity...someone missed their brake marker. Made a mess of the joint but I somehow got through in P2. Was happy to stay there unchallenged the rest of the race. Lookin' like it might be a good weekend!👍

@brockie all good in the hood! The 911 just works for me and I've been finding more and more time in the thing. Was running laps between races and shaved three tenths off. Got three more to go, apparently:

Funny thing? My best lap is exactly your average one. The ideal ones very near, meaning that I've still lot to learn about both Sardegna and the 911. I'm keeping BB at 0 for now. Did manage only 1 victory in DR B among many retirements and other 4 podiums (when demoted in DR C it was mostly pole, going away by 1.5 to 2 sec, and win by margin). Surviving the first half of the lap til the back straight was the trick (in DR B).

Nice driving sir. Would've liked to see the endings.
