I skipped a few posts so I am sorry if I repeat something.

I enjoyed making setups in GTS but I also love the accessability of locked setup/BOP.

There's good things to be said for both.
And now that PD and Sony developed Sophy they have a perfect tool to make a per track BOP that will make the cars very very close in racing.
So one option would be that on the screen where you click to enter a race there where 2 buttons, one for open tuning and one for BOP.
Or you could have one in 4 races open tuning and 3 BOP, in that way the ones that don't like to spend time, or haven't got the time can skip the tuning one.

I think that tuning races should stay but it is infuriating to be faster in the corners and get blown away on the straights because someone tuned their car better than you.

PD should add 2 races, spec racing style everyone with the same car no tuning allowed and 2 races with tuning allowed.

I was having fun on Sport but not so much anymore.

Connecting to a race has been really hit and miss today but I have done a few race C's. Starting from the back with janky quali lap because I can't be bothered to do another.

Best finish so far is a p10 in a McLaren 650s and have usually finished 11-15 ish, tried the Audi & Mazda concept with same results. I am not fast enough to trouble the top half of the field but I seem to fuel save better that a lot of the folks around me so I am out of the pits quicker which is where I am making places.

Guess the practice fuel saving I was doing in the Lexus wasn't a waste after all. C is fun enough and I will do a few more over the week but I am enjoying race B more as it's much more intense and closer racing (well that and i finish in the top half of the field most races 😉)

Hope the connection problems get sorted as that is getting old really quick
Having suffered badly with getting into races for the last 2 days, I've had no problems at all today!

For race C, are we changing tires or no? I did one race where I didn't and P2 caught up with me on the last lap. Lap 9 was tough and picked up an off track penalty.
The next race I did change tires and won because P1 spun out on the last lap.

So I don't know for sure which is faster.

Also, I'm crap on fuel saving and ran out just as I was entering the pits. The second stint seems to be easier as you rejoin the track with a full load well passed T1.
I've done 2 races on it, the first one I didn't change my tires, and lost out on 2nd to finish 3rd. The second one I did, I actually changed tires and caught the top 5 and won (until the server kicked me out and didn't give me the win, fun..)

As for saving, you just really need to save a tiny bit, what I tend to do, is for one lap, the road course section I just go full lean until the oval and I'm usually fine, and run out coming to the pits which isn't bad.

Did 1 Race again this morning. QT 1:03.4. Started 3rd. Finished 4th. Getting back into a groove.

I totally recommend Race A for dipping the toes into the new format. Even if not racing, comparing times is a good benchmark. Won't get any easier than this race.

I noticed Friends lists are international now. Cool.

Man, race C is so good this week. Predictably my qualy time was not holding up as it did yesterday so after two races of starting 5th I managed to bank a 1.45.5 which would have seen me starting 2nd in those races. Into race 3 and starting 9th with a bunch of A+ in the room with 44s. Well chaos at turn 1 saw me into 5th with 2 seconds in front and behind; all I had to do was bring it home. Predictably bottled it. Faffing about with fuel mix before the bus chicane and went deep, dropped to 12 and a ended up finishing 9th. This is such a superior experience to Sport. The immersion of the car feel, the day night transition, the racing. Loving it!

Lost in all the other "controversies", the day-night transition, particularly at Daytona, is stunning. I got lost looking at the night sky when i was in limbo towards the end and completely overshot the first half of the chicane.

I ran into funny situation before.
Might be some network issues I started a daily race B with everyone else kept stalled at starting grid, its something that happens already in gt sport so I didnt pay attention and run the race alone anyway.
After the race it happens that some one in the race was streaming, so I checked his stream and found that I actually jump started for OVER 8 seconds! Making everyone else impossible to catch up and making me look like cheating in obvious.
Have you ever met such thing before? What should I do running into such funny situation again? Quit instantly? I really didnt meant to do that honestly.

If you're faster in the corners, did he really tune his car better than you? I say this because the difference between you two could be something as simple as lowering the downforce a little.
In the last Race B, I tried the R32 and R34. I had a great quali time, but once came the straights I fell back. I’ll give Race C a try tonight, copying a tune for the meta car, the R8 by the looks of it, but I miss BoP and one make races that are determined by pure skill.

As I was saying, 2 races of each would satisfy both preferences.

gg man gg

lmao

Damnit, sunday evening race c had a BOP icon and tunning was locked. Now they changed it so there is tunning. I hate that, don't have the time and knowledge to tune cars. Oh well, back to gtsport for online it is for me.

The Kie25 tune is rock solid. Just copy paste it and in you go. I would move top speed up to 290 to stop 6th banging the limiter for so long.

I'm using the r8 lms i tuned it but other people rotates so much better how come?, literally using gear 1 and people are using gear 2 they still rotates better. Heard counter steering is broken for controller? What should i change? using a controller btw

They might have moved the position of the ballast weight forward.

Thx, I'll try it
Couple of fuel saving tips I’ve learnt. Mix 6 once you hit top speed. Mix 3 in the slip on the straights if you don’t want to overtake. Infield you can go mix 2 if you’re in traffic.

And it’s basically criminal at this point we can’t get rid of the pointless track map and put something else there like fuel mix so we can keep radar on st all times. It’s like they want people to crash. Frantically switching to radar from fuel mix into turn 1 is a right pain.

If you want a power car that can hang with the Audis, have a look at the Dodge Viper. You have to tune down power a lot (use the ECU, not restrictor plate) and add 60 KG, but it has a top speed much higher than the Lexus and I was able to set a qualifying time only a little behind my Audi R8 time (all on stock tunes, can't be bothered tuning yet). I'm sure it'll cut down on that "getting walked on the straights" issue which wasn't a thing with the Lexus in GTS for sure.
I'll give it a try, I think I have enough credits to get another GR.3 car plus tires, trans and ballast. Should, cause I've been doing a Fish race in between Daytona races. The payouts for online racing are still insultingly low.

For now I'm enjoying the Lexus on Mount Panorma. I managed to snag two victories from the back in the good old GT Sport Lexus. It takes a couple laps to adjust back to the GT Sport version of the RC F. It has shorter stopping distance and better grip in corners in GT7, so first couple laps I end up braking too late and going wide in corners. BoP Lexus in GT Sport has 556 HP, 106%, higher than stock, and is also heavier. (102%)

I guess the cars with the most reduction in power in GT Sport BoP are the ones to use!

Candidates to try:
R8 LMS '15535HP (90%)2,862lbs. (106%)
GT by Citroën Race Car (Gr.3)529HP (87%)2,910lbs. (110%)
Viper SRT GT3-R '15557HP (81%)2,870lbs. (101%)
Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car533HP (89%)2,901lbs. (113%)
McLaren F1 GTR - BMW '95542HP (89%)2,800lbs. (121%)

Just finished the 20:00 Race C. It eventually started at 20:10 with 4 people remaining.

This happens a lot. People just leave, unsurprisingly.

On lap 7, whilst leading, I miss my braking point at T1 and hit the tyre wall. I get a penalty upon returning to the track…….of 42 seconds!!!

Suffice to say I didn’t regain the lead. SR appeared to remain the same visually but who knows what it did numerically.

Online racing remains dirty, assuming the race starts, and the software seems unreliable, unresponsive, uninformative and farcical.

For controller drivers mapping MFD up & down to L1 & R1 is less fiddly than default and easier to change on the fly during a race, for me at least

Mix 6 at any heavy breaking zone so bus stop chicane and 1st corner are the main ones but others too depending on race situation. During formation before you have control Mix 6 here too saves a bit. For 1st half of race I don't use mix 1 at all but that may not be possible further up the field. Basics like short shifting, slip stream, don't rev car at race start. etc etc it all adds up.

I have now managed a 6th place and unless all the wheels fall off the other cars I don't think I am going any higher than that. Came in early and made the undercut work. I lucked out into a gap after the rest of field shuffled through their pitstops that I was able to manage that space till end of race. Last lap was a bit too close for comfort fuel wise and I would have been screwed if anyone was close as I wouldn't have been able to put up any sort of fight. Good fun
