Didn't really feel like racing today, but did feel like driving. Decided to do some quali in the Ford. Was really hoping to break into the 39s, but wasn't to be (yet anyway). Regardless, figure this was a pretty good time for this car. If no one else, @xMAXIx79 will appreciate the effort. :D

Anyone else suffering from a rapid decline in SR despite only limited contact and no track limit violations? It also appears a lot harder to recover SR.
Yep same here. I'm doing the same 'challenge' as yesterday on ps4 today (ps5 yesterday). Started as D/E this morning and trying to get to B/S. Still stuck on B/B just as yesterday. I guess every time someone drives into me I lose SR as well.

I also have a suspicion that PD changed the scale. No longer 1-99, maybe it's 1 to 999 now or somewhere in between. It took a lot more effort to lower my SR to E by driving back and forth. One race C used to be enough to trigger a reset or two shorter races. This time it 2 shorter races just to drop to SR A and two C races to get from SR B to SR E.

It also doesn't feel like a linear change. I still jumped from SR E straight to SR C and another race to get to SR B. It could be the boost, you get 3x more SR in SR E which scales down to 1x from SR 50 and up. (If it's still 50, who knows) Before I would jump from SR E straight to SR B on the Nord, so that's lower as well now.

Anyway never judge a driver by his SR letter. I had the best race all week against this C/C driver today.

A shame he lost it before the end, would have been a close finish.

Of course next race I end up in this mess

It didn't get any better during the rest of the race :banghead:

It's Saturday, beware of the trolls.

No, you're not the only one - I've been doing it after every day's session!

Not only am I deaf and (half) blind, I'm now stupid as well!
Has this been announced or anything or have people just noticed it not going into yellow anymore after the right amount of races for that?

Yes, it's happened to me too. I've been B/S for weeks, and today I've gone from S to A to B, back to A and S, then finally A to B.......

I admire that time, it's even faster than my time there, but I wasn't overly interested in driving there either. The ring suits me much better.

No, you read the graphic wrong, the upper lines are "compressed or shortened to the upper range in the performance diagram" to better recognize the progression of the performance curve at the upper end AND to see where the speed goes when you shift at x. Here comes the particularity that appears in GT7, for example. the M4 exists, the M4 also has the most power at the end of the speed range, but this does not increase so much and the fairly high torque drops too early on the same side. The force that moves a vehicle forward in gear x is the sum of power AND torque. In most vehicles, especially with a petrol engine, you usually have the highest "total product" at the end of the speed range. With diesel and "castrated" turbo petrol engines such as the M4, this can shift and it is greatly reinforced by BoP.
Torque x revs = power.
Horse power sells cars, torque wins races

What’s this with the oil change?
Is it a glitch? Extended the oil life? Or have they removed this feature?

I honestly don’t mind this feature but I wish they would make it more accessible to change in like race lobbies.
I hear the new update might allow you to buy tyres and other upgrades in the race lobby menu.

It got dirty again. Typical, just gets dirtier the higher the SR. Lot of blocking and bumping from an SR S driver, sending me back to SR B . You go faster if you stop staring in the mirror to mirror block every move the car behind is making... He was brake checking mid corner as well. Then he calls me trash at the end lol. (I did push him off after I finally out weaved him, my patience is not endless)

PD needs to do something or all the clean drivers will leave again, either to lobbies (when they finally get fixed) alt accounts or to other games. Same thing happened to GT Sport :banghead:
I created 2nd account for this very reason, getting punted and divebombed relentlessly by others is no fun, especially when it drops your DR down because you have been knocked to the shadow realm of last place when you started in 5th

I don't blame you. You need a separate weekend account cause wow, it's been a while since I did a marathon run on Saturday. And it just gets dirtier the closer I get up to SR S. The SR S crowd is the dirtiest  Clean racing in SR C, Wreckfest in SR S, wtf PD.

The reason is ghosting. Half the crap SR S pulls gets ghosted in lower SR levels and you just wreck yourself. Not ideal either, but seems to be the only way to keep the kids from ramming each other. By SR B it's full contact allowed again and the chaos starts. Then the higher the SR, the more of a cushion people have to act like idiots.

Speaking of ghosting, I wish there was a bar above a ghosted car that fills up and lets everyone around know when that car is about to unghost. Similar to how the yellow bar fills up before the penalty line. That way, if you're coming up on a ghosted car you know when it's about to go solid, thus avoid it.

Another double marathon completed at the ring.

Friday I drove from the back on PS5 starting at 3K DR and 1 SR. Saturday the same thing on PS4.
Nordschleife_PS4_vs_PS5.jpg
25 races each, PS5 results on the left, PS4 on the right

Friday is normally the cleanest day, Saturday the worst day of the week to gain SR. Turns out, on PS5 I could not get out of the slums. Too much contact, every race I had people drive into me. Today (Saturday) wasn't anything clean either on PS4 but not as bad as yesterday on PS5. It still took 21 races to get to SR S.

I do think something changed about either the SR scale or point updates. You used to be able to go from SR E to SR S in 4 clean daily race C events. Now it finally takes time to climb back up.

As for DR, easier to gain on PS4 (in this scenario)

Of course it goes hand in hand. Cleaner races means better results means more DR.

One more day left at the ring. I guess I'll see how it goes from the front nowadays, time to qualify. (practiced enough )

Sorry for the ignorance but where u getting those data screens from?

Maximum SR S lobbies should be no ghosting and full damage. People always say that they’d get rammed off and race ruined etc, well that happens now but I think they’d be more careful if it ruined their race too.

Exactly. It would force people to learn. I mean, if there was ghosting in real life, how would real races look like? Would drivers have the same amount of skill they have now? I doubt it.

They could at least trial it. PD seemed so scared to try new things, apart from the removal of DR from Race A which I dont get at all. Chuck in some pre race qualy for 5 minutes before race b and you’ll see way more interest.

Almost at the end of the week and I’ve really enjoyed the Nordschleife. I absolutely understand why people don’t like racing there. Overtaking is almost impossible and the track is so long it takes forever to remember which turn is up next. BUT, once you have it down, the racing becomes a mental challenge. You have to try and put as much pressure as you can on the car in front and handle the pressure coming from behind.

I have had a lot of races where sitting half a second or less behind an alien in front has resulted in them making a catastrophic mistake. I’ve also made planty of catastrophic mistakes because someone was sitting right on my tail. A very different kind of racing, but I find it immensely enjoyable.

I’ve also had the funniest GT7 experience possible this week. A known friendly with really good pace rolled up in a Silvia. Then, whenever he got close behind me he would beep the horn as if we were in peak hour traffic. I was genuinely giggling like an idiot every time he did it. Just hilarious.

I’m also pretty pumped that I got my qualy time down to 7:03.4xx I finally feel like I’ve gotten to grips with the circuit and its mysteries.

Words cannot even describe how ANGRY I am right now! I take so much pride in being a clean driver but because I've been hit, side swiped and punted so many times, I've dropped to an A rating for SR!!

What the hell?! I would not have even gotten a single penalty over the past month even with the old, stricter rules and I get penalized because of others?!

I'm beyond pissed off now!! Unfrigginbelievable 🤐😖

Wow! 1:03.xx at the Nordschleiefe? And you’re calling other people aliens?! 🤡

Enough people have said this that now I’m afraid to race again! And it’s also giving me some insight as to why some of the most courteous drivers I’ve seen have been SR B or less . . . . I don’t mind getting bashed around by jerks if I can at least feel rewarded by a decent safety rating, but now I’m being incentivized to be the jerk first?! If I’m going to lose my SR anyway, why bother being safe? I’m pretty sure this isn’t the strategy they proposed in that stupid safety video they made us watch a couple of updates ago?!

The only ghosting I see in the S lobbies are when one is serving a penalty or trying to come back on track while going particularly slow. Are you seeing more than that?

But, I agree with the full damage... and it should last. The game already has damage built in so it would not be hard to incorporate. Only issue with that I see is the rammer usually doesn't care if their race gets ruined.

That is why I think the speed delta is super important. If lead car A is taking a turn, and following car B has a delta of more than 20mph (for example), then car B ghosts as it goes flying off the track and gets a penalty, while car A drives away unscathed. Or, car A magically inherits the density of a star thus car B hits car A, car B gets tons of damage and loses control like it just hit a brick wall which car A drives off unscathed.

Another thing, in addition to teh above, is the rammer gets a warning and if he does it again (within that race or within a certain time limit) then out comes the black flag booting that person from the current race (killing DR & SR) and giving them a ban for 12/24/5,000 hours from playing online.

The only way to stop a rammer is take his/her ability away to do so, IMHO.

Yeah, I felt great about myself until the very next lobby loaded and I was p3 and pole had a 6:59.xxx

Edit: just realized my original post had a 1 instead of a 7. What a dunce.

Anyone else wish the Daily races would cycle on Saturday and not on Monday?
wild its not every few days - or, as i've seen mentioned before... cycling the different races on different days.

i can't get over the fact that this game is less engaging than GTS on a daily level, solely because they won't fix balancing or MR cars. in GTS, if i didn't like the meta or track for one race, i had two others to tinker with.... that was three days worth of messing around every week even if i didn't want to race.

I think permanent damage and a black flag for the offenders would be a great idea and have almost immediate results!

Or just put all the black flag racers into their own lobby and let them kill each other all week long . . .

Alternatively, why can't there be a system in place similar to that of the current yellow flag system? (flimsy example but bear with me)

If you pass the car in front immediately after contact - you know, the painful ones where it's the slightest nudge but enough to send the back end out and kill your momentum, or the old edging out trick where the victim is used like the armrest on a lazy boy chair - it would trigger a warning or a straight penalty.

I can handle some contact in race, but when the contact is literally the only reason you manage the pass, that's when vengeful Benjoi comes out.

I'm talking again about top SR lobbies of course
