Wasn’t my contention initially that I wasn’t a fan of the system? Considering we came from a rigid BoP in GTS to open tuning in 7 I feel like I shouldn’t have to spell that out for you. Whether I can do the same as others isn’t the counter to the point I put forth initially. Please read.
Let me see if I get this right: you want the sorting be by DR so you can race your piers instead of lower ranks that only can contest because of their tuned cars. Is that the gist of it?
I absolutely get that it's a nuisance to race people with little race craft if you are used to race people with good race craft. I agree on that.
If this is what you mean then the problem is how PD sort and match make.

The matchmaking is very broad at the moment. But the tuned cars aren’t the reason for mistakes. The tuned r8 is infinitely more controllable than the stock one.

I'm going to miss the Mini racing - Race A has been great fun this week, with some very close racing. Those that tried to get dirty usually came off worse too, which is a bonus!

Had a productive weekend with the Mini - 6 races yesterday, 5 wins 1 p2, 4 races today, 3 more wins 🙂

Well I’m done with the fiasco of Sport mode.

I only race at C/S level so I can’t comment on other levels of racing.

At my level, however, the general ineptitude is staggering. How half the field got out of D level makes you wonder, let alone the stellar qualifying laps they manage to muster. Put them in a 10 lap race, however, and you are looking at mobile chicanes. Late braking, early braking, weaving, blocking, punting, side-swiping, it’s all there in all its glory.

It Is a given that I will rack up penalties in every race. Some are my fault, I’m not claiming to be perfect, but most are from poor car positioning in front of me. In race C, slamming on the brake when you are 10m behind gives you little chance of stopping.

Woe betide anybody who has the audacity to actually try a passing manoeuvre. Welcome to the Wall/Infield!!!

So, as I say, back to GTS until some sort of sense appears in GT7 Sport mode.

I entered about 10 Daily Race B's today, but got stuck 4 of those times on various screens before actually entering the race and needed to quit GT7. The last one I tried had a PSN friend in it who also said he was stuck forever and unable to race. My network connection looks good, and since it happened to two of us, I'm guessing it's a server issue.

Frustrating.
It’s a day later and I wanted to update. I still suspect my issues yesterday were server side, but I ended up putting my PS4 on DMZ in my router and I had no issues today. I figured it was worth the 5 minutes to set it up.

BROS i need ur help

i JUST won daily race c by a pube hair and it froze at the scene where the team is congratulating me, then crashed

I think as long as the race ended for everyone it counts.

This is what I originally posted:

"Had my first proper bit of time with Race C today.

I was enthusiastic about tuning in dailies initially because I enjoyed the idea of taking any road car and plugging away at finding unexpected performance in it.

This ain’t it though. Lot of mediocre drivers driving meta cars with setups better than their talent levels. It’s all a mess and I’m pessimistic going forward."

I'm honestly not sure how anyone sees any demands in that or requests for change in this or any of my subsequent posts. I played it, stated I wasn't too sure about this direction and when pressed I explained why. That's really about it. Whether they actually change it or not is out of my control.

just did another race, and another win...and another freeze. is daily race C bugged on ps4 or something
I also am getting a freeze sometimes after the end of the race. In GTS the key is when “Results Confirmed” appears at the bottom of the finishing order prior to going back to the lobby. This ”sets” the result.

I hope it is the same in GT7.

Did 3x Race C events yesterday. All in the Mazda RX-Vision.

Wasn't too bad tbh. I got caught out with by the pit lane penalty twice, oops, my bad. Probably the most annoying times was when people would brake too early and I'd tap them and get 2s penalty. Like literally a tap that barely affected them. Oh and in another instance the car in front was ghosted and came out of ghost about right before I was about to pass through them, grrr - another 2s penalty.

Average results. I think I got 13th first race (but it was first race with no practice, and I started 13th too so....). Second race I got 8th. Last race I got 2nd. So a steady improvement as I learned the track. Especially for the last race where I actually decided to figure out my braking points beforehand.

Still I'm way off the top 10 pace. But in fairness I didn't do any tuning either.

I’ve been trying the daily race C. I spent a good time in the qualifying testing out the track. The first race I did started 14th and ended 4th. Was super surprised.

Next time I tried I had bought the jaguar type F and man that thing sucks on turns :( I hit a wall and basically it was over from there.

It’s much faster straight line speeds, but turning isn’t as good as the Supra.

So my question is, can I tune it turn better? Or like there isn’t much of an option for that?

I think this is the main issue for GTS players. That being the case, would not the simple reinstatement of BoP be the answer?

Untuned, harder to get around, fewer stellar laps from folk not familiar with this equality method.

turning can definitely be fixed with tuning

daily race C is kind of like racing on f1 2021 online. just survive the first skirmishes and youll end up with a top ~7-8 finish without trying lol

Down to a 1:01.571 for Race A which I assume would finish top 100 worldwide. I have no idea how many miles I've put in because PD still hasn't fixed the glitch where miles in qualifying aren't counted.

Ran a few race C this weekend. I don't have the Mazda or the Audi and I don't want to buy them so I signed up with Porsche and tried the 911.
40 kg of ballast to reach the minimum weight and hp at a max of 509 made the first run a pain, just getting further and further behind.
So I bought a turbo, the mid range one. Gave me 720 hp so I had to use both the ECU and the power restrictor to get the hp down enough.
Now suddenly I pulled away from the META's in the infield and on the exit onto the oval, and was faster in the bus stop
Much fun

Edit: my tune apart from the turbo is lowered car, a little less camber back and forth, and half as much toe in on the rear axel.
Reduced downforce too

Same. I typically skipped race A in GTS as the road cars were a chore to handle and typically slow as hell but with the option to tune it up to a higher BHP (not setting the world on fire but it does give it a fun extra bit of grunt) and soften the handling, it became a lot of fun to chuck the mini around that circuit. I wish I'd jumped in earlier in the week but hey, maybe the next race will be just as enjoyable.

Can someone explain the BoP to me like the dummy I am :) I thought it basically means that you just pick a car and it is adjusted to match the performance with others. Does it mean that no tuning parts are needed or do I need to get some basic stuff anyway to stay competitive?

Can't confirm right now, but it should automatically (for free) balance your car. Right now, as others said in the manufacturers cup, you can't adjust your brake-balance. Tuning is forbidden

Buying tyres lol. What a farce. Sport mode, especially BoP should just give us the full roster of cars in the group to select from with all tyres. Be way more fun and you might see some variety. Tough to try different cars when it’ll involve grinding to do it.
If GT Sport learned us anything it's that BoP does not bring a varied grid, at least at the somewhat higher DR levels.
I think it's a hard sell though. You do want the cars to handle uniquely but also to try and keep every car competitive. I don't think they did a bad job on it in GT Sport, but if players feel they have a 0.2 advantage per lap, 90% of them won't pick the slower option for the sake of variety.

That’s definitely fair, and a lot of bOp races ended up as one car grids. But hopefully they have tried to address that, or they at least should’ve done. From what I’ve seen the Subaru at least looks like it’s more competitive in a straight line. Definitely better than sport
