And it looks ****ing awesome in that livery.
Thanks, mate. I made that livery based on an old Tyco slot car I had (well, I still have it) and played with a lot when I was a kid. I used the Vette and my dad used the Porsche. Someone else made the Porsche livery and when I saw it I had such a nostalgia kick I had to make one for the Vette. It is available as I shared it (search for Tyco). I did add the bowtie on the windshield after sharing it as I didn't realize it was originally there since my slot car doesn't have a windshield due to excess crashing.

out of curiosity are you the GrumpyOldMan who's got the Black (I think) Alfa that says GrumpyOldMan, has an old balding guy picture on it, I think on the side?
If so I'm sincerely sorry for the contact we had a day or so ago. I tried saying something in the post race chat but you'd left by the time I finished using the controller to type.

I love your livery on your car, it's amazingly well done, and you drive really well. It was a pleasure to race you.
Yes, that's me! I don't remember you hitting me, but I was racing so badly yesterday that most of the time I totally deserved getting hit.

Thanks for the nice comment about my livery, and my driving, although I didn't show much skill yesterday ;p The "old man" graphic is "Walter" from Jeff Dunham. I also sometimes use Achmed too.

I just need to get this off my chest. I have a B/S rating right now (or maybe it's a B/A, but whatever). I'm reasonably new to sim racing. Yesterday I was doing race b, and I qualified in third place behind two drivers with q times more than a second better than me. They obviously know each other, because they chat back and forth before the race.

Anyway, the guy in second had some trouble coming up to The Cutting, and I passed him (didn't have much choice, actually). He recovered and took the inside around the tight corner. We made contact, and I ended up spinning out and smashing hard into the wall. I can't say for certain who was at fault - I didn't save the replay because I just quit the race - but it certainly wasn't malicious on my part. I was pissed at the other guy, but I suppose he didn't do anything wrong since I apparently gave him an opening.

So in multiple races that followed, the 2 leader guys kept tagging me and telling me to race clean, as though I had done something wrong to them. I told them I didn't do anything malicious, and one of them said "yeah, right". I was so mad I couldn't see straight. I mean, don't people realize that sometimes, accidents happen because people aren't aliens? It's not like we were A+ racers, so obviously we make mistakes.

I ended up ignoring them, but it still makes my blood boil. I mean, if they think I'm a dirty driver, then maybe I should show them just how dirty I can be! (Not really, but you know what I mean.)

Whew. I hope getting this off my chest helps lower my blood pressure. Thanks for letting me vent. Not that you had much choice...
You're gonna die early if you let this stuff get to you, it is what it is. I grew up at Bathurst, seen a million laps there, you effectively do not pass from the cutting through to forests elbow in competitive cars. So the guy you were racing really should have waited to re-pass. Anyone trying to make a competitive pass against a healthy car across the top is asking for contact. It's too fast, too tight and lined with walls.

Question: How do you guys learn the names of all the turns on a track? I'm fairly new to all this, so it's kind of a mystery to me.
At least for me it's just being there as a kid (Monza) or following races on TV
Nowadays new cirtuit turns have exotic names like turn1, turn2, .... :yuck:
Old historyc tracks do have real names: Ascari, Tarzan, Puhon, just to name a few

When I think I'm driving through the Ascari, no matter I'm sitting in my room, it looks much more real than driving Turn8

Where memories cannot make it, google can

First time playing games online?

You can't let that stuff get to you, man. Just ignore it, your blood-pressure will thank you.

Yep, you're right. I need to remember this is "just a game". Thanks.

Bless you! I was thinking that, but I figured I just didn't know what I was talking about.

Actually, yes, other than some poker back in the day. Must... ignore... the... idiots.

Welcome to the club. :D

I chat friendly with people, and if there's reason to do otherwise, I just leave it.
(in the beginning of my online racing experience I tended to use some unfriendly vocabulary, but that doesn't do anything useful, so...)

Was watching a stream other day and I noticed that all the daily races have wet weather tyres available. Seriously what is the point in having wet weather tyres available when PD never adds any weather?

I have had similar experiences and I share your frustration. I've started saving and reviewing the race to learn what I can do better and see if I was at fault. Still doesn't take away the sting if someone punts me on purpose.
Last week I was the victim of another drivers anger/frustration. I was creamed, no accident just spite. We raced again in the next race and I put up the "clean race" comment directed at them. Their reply was an agreement of that. In that race we both took pains to give each other room/respect, which renewed my faith in my fellow drives.

I certainly get where you are coming from, I used to be really mad when some entitled dip**** forced a pass, I gave room and he just used the whole track, so effectively pushing me off.

A lot of kids that see this as a game only, not a driving game treats it as if they are allowed to do what ever they want as long as they aren't penalised.
But you always leave room.

Are contact penalties off again? Got punted off at T11 in Race C yesterday. Watched the replay and driver didn’t get a penalty. Annoying as I’d made three places on that lap.

Yeah, noticed the IMs. Why won’t they give us weather in Race C?

I wouldn't call them idiots (at least not all of them).
It's simply human nature to think that others are wrong.

Now.... looking at the emotional stuff, I see your point. When it happens to me I spent lot of time second guessing myself yust because someone told me I'm wrong

looking at the learning stuff, just second guess yourself for a while, not with the objective to stick shame on you or on them, but to understand what a good driver should have done there (not the right place to try an overtake, too slow, whatever) and to improve your way to race with others. I don't think spensing too much on reply is needed, just take a look at it if you didn't understand in realtime what happened.

This will make you a better driver, and will keep others good drivers or bad idiots, which is not under your control

Absolutely! I've found many times I thought the other guy was at fault, but after reviewing the replay, I ended up seeing where either I was at fault, or nobody really was ("racing incident"). Great learning experience.

So a little while ago I raced against one of the aforementioned players, and not only was he overly aggressive and downright dirty in spots, other people mentioned it also. So, so much for "race clean", which, as other people have pointed out, really means "don't touch me, but I can do anything I want to you".

Most contact is not intentional, it's just dumb decisions. Yesterday I was P3 and P4 had me for pace but instead of trying to line me up into T1, T2 or the chase, he tried to sneak in ENTERING THE DIPPER. Needless to say, ended in tears. like dude, just pick your spots man.

So early this morning I ran a ton of qualifying laps for race b, and even ran the race once, and I totally sucked the whole time. I couldn't figure out for the life of me what was going on.

Then I realized I was using the WRX instead of the Alpha Romeo. I can't drive the WRX worth beans, obviously. When I switched back to the Alpha Romeo, the first q lap I ran broke my previous best time. Maybe it's like swinging a heavy bat before getting to the plate?

And if you wonder how I could have gone 3 hours without realizing I was using the WRX instead of the Alpha, here's a couple of points:

1) They both have the same livery, designed by me. So there's that.
2) And I'm the guy who says to my wife "When did you get that [fill in the blank - decoration, whatever]?" And she inevitably looks at me with pity in her eyes as she tells me it's been there for 3 years.

Alfa... Alfa Romeo... HETHEN.

With the WRX, you need to get on the throttle very, very early. Even a little before the apex, the AWD is VERY strong and will claw the car forward, pulling it through the corner. In saying that, I started in the WRX and find the alfa faster even though it's hopeless in a straight line.

Hi all. I’ve taken a couple of months off the game, Got burnt out and had enough. But back into it now ane Race B is an absolute treat to return to. Great short sharp fun. Most people are generally well behaved and not making silly moves. As usual the Alfa drivers know the only place they have the advantage is on the mountain, the only place you can’t overtake.
Getting some good results though and enjoying the return.

Welcome back. Wondered where you were.

@GOTMAXPOWER was telling everyone that you got locked up.

find the alfa faster even though it's hopeless in a straight line
Well, that depends on how well you exit the turns. If I can negotiate the turns better in the alpha, and exit them better than I can the WRX, then the fact it's a little slower in a straight line becomes moot. But I get your point, of course - it's why the Atenza and the WRX dominate the qualifying leaderboard.

Did two race Cs last night starting from the back. Never thought I'd say this, but I miss Brands. First was in the Viper and I finished P6, basically getting all the passes due to others going off and pit stop strats. Second I got punted and finished last in the Vette.

Didn't bother with B. Hate Bathurst and hate the Gr4 cars. Going to be a slow (literally and figuratively) week for me.

Any word on next week's yet.... please?

What car did you use to race? I set my qualy time using the WRX and did first 8 laps on RH and last 6 on RM.

Both times my final laps i had front right totally gone and fell back a few places with no grip. Everyone seemed to have better tire deg on the 911
