If Race C wasn't a fuel race and thus not totally boring it would've probably been the one i'd focus on, being GR4 n all that.....so i've ended up doing Race B's, lost my A+ rating but I'm okay with that as over the week I've slowly but surely got much better at slinging the Porsche round Trial Mountain.....with no TC might i add.

Wonder if he just missed his braking point?

I usually avoid fuel races, but after watching @Tidgney 's lap guide (thank you 😊👍) I gave it a go. And lo and behold I won one! The next race I accidentally started on mediums so went flat-out and pitted at the start of the last lap and managed to get out in front. Probably the most satisfying race I've ever done.

I'm really bad with names, so I almost never realize I'm racing with anyone from here. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part, I'm clueless. But I'm sure it was fun, lol.

As for 840 races, I was wondering where that fit in the scheme of things. I think it's somewhere between "obsessed" and "losing my wife". Just kidding of course, my wife is great.
I have been down that very route. First year I had GTS I drove 1800 races.
But I think @Sven Jurgens has the record ...

I've been working on something...

I'm taking this week off trying to be competitive but as long as I can have fun and am not the complete opposite then I'm happy. I haven't tried what I'm planning for tomorrow since GT6.

Finally, I did a Race C. My first ever fuel saving race. It felt weird.

I had set a decent qualifying lap (that's what I thought) in the Alfa (yes, I feel a bit dirty about that😆), actually a 2:03:6xx. When the lobby opens, I'm only 9th on the grid. Mostly A rated drivers, even two A+. What? Race C doesn't seem overly popular...

I'm going to try following @Tidgney 's advice, FM1 but shortshifting with my WRX. After T1, which goes relatively clean, it's very much a procession.
It seems like everybody is afraid to hit the throttle. Including myself, I don't know how fuel is gonna work out, so I don't dare to attack. The unfamiliar driving style causes some mistakes on my part, and combined with some divebombs by people who might have lost patience or are going for a one-stopper, I drop down to P13 in the process. With one eye always on the fuel display, I don't even realize drivers pitting, and so I'm P11 in the final lap. Get overtaken in the final chicane by a Supra driver who has been waiting patiently for two laps, but obviously having used his last fuel for the manouever, he slows down again and I get the position back in the final turn. P9 has spun onto the grass 100 meters before the finish line, so I gain another position and finish P10. I even seem to have gained some DR, because there were some A rated drivers finishing behind me.

But somehow it all didn't feel like "racing". 😆

Daily C could have been so much better if they had got the tyre multiplier right. Also having hard as the mandatory basically sticks everyone on the same strategy.
What they should have done is increase the tyre multiplier, make both tyres mandatory and to stick a twist in there turn off refuelling or make the fuel refuel flow slower. I think that would have made great racing as you will people on different tyre strategies but also fuel saving.

Or made.no tires mandatory, making it possible to go flat.out on mediums and refuel or fuel save on hards.

These are both great ideas. I’ve also been thinking that a very high fuel multiplier but shorter pit stops would make two stop strategies viable. I’d like to see races like in real life where the question is how few stops (rather than no stops) on which tires can be made. It would be so much more interesting.

Hey everyone, I’ve been away from the game for a couple months but I made it back this week for some very rusty no-qualy racing on my 2nd account. I had some great races and also some races where I was treated like a crash test dummy by the lower ranked drivers I was attempting to pass. Frustrating at times but overall I still had a great time and eventually found some decent pace at NurbGP for Daily Race C.

I’m posting a couple videos below. First is a 2-hour stream that shows how terrible the Sport Mode experience can be if you race with dirty drivers all around. I got taken out multiple times for reasons unknown in 3 consecutive races and finally got a decent win at the end of the stream so I decided to call it a night after that.

4-race stream:

And below is a high-resolution gameplay video of one of the wins I got from the back. This was a bit before I found some better pace but it was a very fun and clean progression from last to first with a pretty chaotic first lap or two and some nice 1v1 battles later on as I moved up the field.

By the time I stopped racing last night I was able to pull off fastest laps in the mid-to-high 2:04’s and consistent 2:05’s whenever I could find clean air. Not too bad for taking a few months off amidst several updates.

Enjoy!

Last to first in 4K

did a handful of race B races after work the last few days. the racing was decent and I had a lot of fun, but GR3 is above my skillset. I really am a road car guy. even GR4 is pushing me to the limit of what I can do.

anyway, as much as I enjoyed myself as lobby filler running at the back, I was quite pleased this morning to be starting near the front and driving with much better pace. did a bunch of races and it really reminded me how much fun this game can be.

two replays, first is a race I really enjoyed and second I am alone for most of it but it was some of my best in race laps. not that I am fast. lol

I think a cap of 250PS for next week's Race A at Suzuka East makes better sense than having a 600PP for Tokyo Expressway Central. I think I'll at least do some qualifying for this next one and see how I do.

Complete opposite for me. Road cars are beyond my skill set. They’re way harder to keep pointed in the right direction.
If I may dare to slightly disagree here: I made a lot of my DR points with road cars, when Race A still counted. Even had some qualifying results in the top 100 (I know, I know, there's way less competition, fewer people are playing these with some commitment). But every time I race Gr3 with halfway decent drivers, I still feel a bit overwhelmed. And I'm quite sure that you would still drive circles around me and still win in any road car.

But overall I see it as a big plus for GT 7: that it combines these totally different varieties of racing in one game.

I wish instead of BOP we get a max amount of PP or BHP for Race B and C. Obviously the class, like GR 3, has to be set but in terms of setup, we all get a limit and also a choice of tires (like single player PP limit) and as long as you stick to the rules, you're free to tune as you like ..

On a different note, wish I had the same players on my main account as I do with the 2nd one! Both are now B rated as I keep getting slammed on main account but for some reason, I get great karma on 2nd account...

Then I got into a better set of B lobbies. I got to run a race with @GrumpyOldMan but forgot to check how he finished (I sent you a friend request by the way) because I was locked in a great race at P4 with some crazy competition among the first three positions.
As you know, I accepted your friend request. I can't remember what happened in that race, but something tells me I tanked it.

Any way to "simulate" the BoP when practicing? I'm pretty much just running GR3 cars stock but not sure if BoP is going to neuter them during the actual daily races.

Custom Races or Lobbies allow you to enable BoP, not sure why you can't in Time Trial but.. PD be PD.

For testing I usually do a custom race with 1 AI opponent (if they're in another class you never see them after the first couple of corners anyway), as I like to pause in practice and you can't do that in a lobby.

I find the same, Leon.

Sure, I agree and understand that GT Races are bread and butter for competitive drivers, and as such they are the purists' choice.

Thing is... It's a very copy/paste process for me, braking points will differ very little, driving techniques are textbook and totally reproducible.

Road cars are WILY. People hate it! Hulking a HP monster around a racetrack is demanding, even a clean lap can feel like a miracle.

I guess what I'm getting at is that most high standard drivers will lean towards the race cars. Because they are a much more reliable conduit for a very high skill level, whereas road cars can 'go rogue' more often.

I can see that the engine-swapped Cappuccino is dominating the leaderboard for Race A, but how common is that car in the actual races? Do you run into it often? Seeing how getting the engine is completely out of your control, I can't imagine a lot of people having access to that car.

But how realistic is the physics of the road cars? Find it hard to believe a modern GT-R would be as loose as it was at Watkins Glen in Race A a few weeks ago. Or maybe it’s that PD keeps running them on non-sticky tires (like the Vette in the recent time trial)?

Here's my best lap and tune now for Race A with no roulette parts or engine swap.

It's the same Evo V from the BK4 GT2000 meme but with wide wheels, widebody, giant wing, and a bit glitchy parts combination. It maybe the best handling car with at least decent top speed possible.

I see on average about 2 per race but usually they are mid pack since they need roulette parts to be way overpowered.

Not very realistic physics with tuning being allowed but there are a lot of options so at least people can find at least a car they like.
