DR A, finally! :gtpflag:

I've been dancing around the full B bar for a while now, climbing and dropping a bit every race (depends if it was a normal race or a demolition derby), and last night I drove two great stints in race B, started on pole both times, had a clean race with the fastest lap in both races, made 0 mistakes, and finally made it to DR A :D

Also what views do people use?
A - chase cam
B - cockpit (I do like cockpit view but some cars it’s horrible)
C - bonnet (or “hood”) cam
D - bumper (or “fender”) cam
Roof cam, came over from F1 games onto GT in which I used the T-cam so just went with what I was used to

Here's my new tune for race A.

The livestream still has some crazy things, but I figured it's best to have a new separate video since the tune is a bit different. The additions not shown are widebody, wide wheels, roll cage, and all aero parts. The '02 Viper would be even better with manual shifting below the redline but for now I still need full concentration powersliding around corners so I'll try manual later. For anyone with the weight reduction roulette part that will probably make a big difference.

I really enjoyed trial mountain last week. Felt like i was finally starting to get a handle on gr3 cars, and had some fantastic racing along the way.

This week....... well this week i think i will be returning to my personal time trials around the nord in cockpit view. None of the races look interesting to me.

As for what view i use. I use the hood/roof cam. I was a chase cam guy forever, but had to switch when i got the wheel. Bumper cam feels like I'm dragging my chin on the pavement and i can't see anything in traffic. And cockpit, while i actually really enjoy it, the visibility for racing is crap. Chase cam just feels weird and disconnected with the wheel.

I don't really watch NASCAR, but I thought this was applicable. Literally happened today. The #1 car and #11 car were racing but the #1 car was pretty far behind. Keep your eye on the red/black car. Check out when he did on the last half of the last lap... ended up getting the pass. Wonder how many 1.5 second penalties he got.

I mean, what else would you expect from a seventh generation watermelon farmer driving a car called “Moose”?!

I wonder how long it’ll take drivers to start placing polymer sliders on the fenders like motorcyclists use? Now NASCAR is going to have to contact PD for some advice on how to penalize that move.

In most cases I prefer the sound that you get in roof cam much more than in bumper cam, it's just the transmission noises that are missing, I didn't even know that you can turn that up :D will try today!

Here is a fun move to do against an aggressive driver. The "fake out"

When I got home from work last night, I did one last Trial Mountain race for the week, before working on some money grinding.

The Mazda you see here had just gotten past me by pushing me wide into the wall. I wasn't sure if it was intentional, so I wasn't planning on hitting him back.

I had just a little bit of a run on him on the front straight. I poked my nose to his inside, to see if he would back off before the turn. It didn't look like he would, so I lifted right before turn entry. I did it late enough that he had already committed to sending in there with a wide line. The results had me laughing out loud.

I've so many replays saved from this week's Trial Mountain. The opening sector was the scene of plenty of hilarious and dramatic moments. You have to pat yourself on the back when you pull something off there!

C for me. It's feels like more of a driving position than the cockpit view as you can actually see the front of your car.
None of the other views interest me that much. I guess never having had a mirror I can't actually say I am missing it...

it's the most amazing thing I've seen in nascar, maybe even motorsports, since the Busch/Craven finish at Darlington in 2003

Well this weeks guide is here, some punting, banging and squashing as well as a fuel issue again (Of course I have a fuel issue!)

Nice stream and idea, man! Had real fun racing this afternoon. /full stop :D

A — chase camera. Should be noted I’m on the DualSense. Was most attracted to this view back in the day since I got to see the car while driving. Cockpit is also amazing for immersion and I love using it while hotlapping cars around Nordschleife and the like on my own. Not capable of using it competitively though, losing way too much time.

Pausing mid race puts your car in auto drive which has little to no impact on your time on most straights. It’ll impact your time heavily in corners but usually, whoever chats during a race is someone who’s crashed so it doesn’t matter for them. Generally, just avoid chatting mid race, I think it’s pretty poor class because it’s disturbing for whoever’s still racing.
Haha cheers Mate! Now I know who it is, I was like, I don't know that account 👀 👀. Now I know it's you :D

Had a look on the dailies and I figured maybe its time for me to try at least a Daily Race where tuning is allowed so since Daily Race A is a tuning car daily I decided to use this opportunity to try it.

I didn't have much to offer in terms of cars in my virtual garage that has been tuned for this kind of race so I went for my GR Supra that I hastily tuned because I was going to this race blind without any knowledge of what's the go to car. The tune I made for this GR Supra is just a copy paste from the GR Supra Gr.4 Race Car where I copied the suspension and differential settings from the said Gr.4 car. As for the downforce settings I went for 140 on the front and 220 on the rear.

I first did my usual qualifying sessions before jumping in to do the race and the best I can muster for today is a 58.3 which was enough for me to be on pole on the three sessions I did.

And when I did those three sessions I was surprised that my GR Supra tune worked like I really got away from the opposition easily at the start of the race and it handled nicely as well despite the comfort softs.

And due to how my GR Supra worked fine around Suzuka East it led to me having three consecutive wins around the track pushing me to 67 wins. Overall I might consider hanging out on this Daily for the week if this keeps up.

Surprisingly, my spirit rx8 is faster than the viper in the straights, but I need to adjust the tune for comfort tires to handle a bit better. Not sure about the wing settings.

All my tuning starts with the praiano62 thread....lol.

I might give A a go this week as B & C are of no interest to me at all. I do have MW2 to keep me occupied but might be a good week to give A a shot. I'll likely just steal your tune since I am not much of a tuner.

Going to put it out there but I’m really enjoying daily c.

TT lap so far is 1.30.8. I think I can maybe gain another 2 tenths max.
3 races today, and all 3 I started in P2.
1st race. Hards for 6 laps then mediums till the end. After the hairpin I was moving the fuel to mix 2/3 through the S’s and through the quad right hander, then I moved back to mix 1 for the straight. Had a good little battle with P3 & P4 with all of us swapping positions a few times. Pit stops I was P4 and 1 lap of fuel short and I was 50/50 on whether to refuel or not, and decided to not refuel. Not refilling allowed me to jump P2 & P3, but towards the end I was too short on fuel so had to run mix 6 and short shift. Held on in the end for P3.
2nd race I tried the same tactics but again couldnt save enough fuel. As for the race similar to 1st. Lost a few places to the medium starters bit jumped a few in the pit stops. Finished P3 again.
3rd race I tried something different. This time I was short shifting with a little lift and cost. Again dropped to P4, but I was keeping pace with P1 only 5 seconds back. Pit stops I had 8 laps of fuel left so this allowed me to pushed. Was in the race lead untill lap 10. P2 ran the hard tyres till lap 8 and with the fresher mediums they were able to catch and pass me. Finished 1 seconds behind in P2.

Good racing so far, but expecting the level to ram up once people find the pace and OP strategy is used.

They should really have a max power restriction/ECU output adjustment, like you can only decrease your power a maximum of 20% total or something. Most of the time, cars you tune up have no chance against these monsters built to have over 2x the power and therefore have these gigantic tires in comparison. They also tend to be faster on the straights despite having more grip for some reason.

Put down a 1:33.00 with the death trap that is the Audi R8. I don't know why I hate driving the Porsche no matter what track it is. Feel like I have a few seconds out there somewhere....looking at you turn 1. Does everyone go over the bumpers on the chicane or go on the sides of them?

I managed to improve my Lambo time from a 1.34 to 1.31.1. Difficult to say where I gained most of the time, but fitting medium tyres instead of hards was definitely a factor 🤣🤣🤣

Edit: it’s ok to flick the curbs at the sector 1 chicane, but you need to avoid the sticky up sausage bits at all costs, they will send the car straight on. If you get the correct line through the initial left-right, then the next left hander should be flat out.

Haha I’ve been there done that before in been on the wrong tyres. I’ve spent a good 10 minutes before running round on inters and couldn’t work why the car was so slow and awful to drive.

Corner exits ive found are where I’ve made a huge amount of time. They are about 3/4 corners where if you get on the power early it gains so much time. T1, the chicane exit, the hairpin and the final corner are were time is gained or lost for me.

Here's my new tune for race A.
I'm using a tune based in your M3 from a few weeks back. Can't keep up with the Vipers but it has decent pace on the twisty section.

Lapping around low 58' with my poor skills lol

Edit: using an Need for Speed: Most Wanted livery :)

So I got this 5 second penalty today. What utter BS:

Whilst that actual penalty is a bit of nonsense, do keep in mind you could've avoided that collision collecting you at all. It's often times better to back off or compromise yourself than it is to hold your foot down. It might be slower than a normal line, but it's quicker than ending up in the wall or in the sand.

I can’t finish better than P10 in Race C today! I don’t know what my problem is but I’m getting knocked around and spun off the track in every single race at least once, usually more. It’s driving me nuts! None of the other races interest me so I guess I’d better get used to the idea of being a C ranked driver by the end of the week. This is kissing me off so much!
