If I race alone in last place will I get my S rating back?

I'm sick and tired of Race B this week. Every race I'm matched with worse people, which makes me angrier and as a result my SR goes down. After grinding for A, I'm back at C. I've never been this angry playing GT before. I'm almost destroying my controller.
There's no point in being clean. There will always be some bully to push you on purpose and they'll never get a penalty.

Just do it. I had to do it twice already. Second time was two or three weeks ago. It cost me a lot of DR in the end (I did some "extra" races behind the pack to stack up some SR points instead). It's worth it just to get placed in lobbies with SR S drivers. The racing is so much better.

The shame is that you can get a penalty for that hit but someone can take you out and not get a thing.
Yeah, I still don't get that. There have been times when I know I deserved a penalty, and didn't get one. I wonder how many people use the penalty system to judge whether they're driving fairly or not?
That was good. It looked like you were bowling, and picked up a 3 pin spare.
LOL, perfect image!

Ok, but what about my driver rating? Right now it's at B. Would I go as low as C if I stay behind for.....I don't know how many races?
All I know is that it took me a month to get to DR A, and just a few days to get dropped in B.

I did it after I had fallen out of DR A back to B. Needed five races behind the pack to get from SR B to SR S again. My DR went from about 95% of the progress bar to about 55% in the process. For me it's nothing to worry about anymore. High SR is more valuable to find good racing, in my humble opinion.

Just race clean and leave space where appropriate, it really isn’t very difficult. My SR is always S and it doesn’t require effort to maintain it. I still fight for places and position my car to defend a position, but I race fair. Some others don’t, but leave them to it.

Did some more As today. Starting to get used to these road cars. Got my quali time down to 56.9s which - last I looked - put me 41st on the list. That's kinda sad.

Still using Barrett's tune on the Viper (I did lower the back as it looked ridiculous) as I am too lazy to try other stuff. I don't think starting on pole is the best spot; you really gotta get a good launch/jump or the P2 car will have the inside like through T1 & T2.

Scratched the itch for today... looking forward to next week's races already.

How does the viper handle such low HP requirement?

Pretty well. Try this tune:

So I ran Race B this afternoon/evening and it was inexplicably a totally different experience. So clean compared to yesterday. Maybe an extra day of practice helped, but I had the same drivers as last night and they more or less behaved today.

I ran one race in the BRZ as the only B driver in an all A lobby. I just ran it honestly, got ten laps on RM and finished around 10 or something, but it was clearly not going to work out so I switched back to the Porsche. I was in another mixed A & B lobby and ended out finishing last. Too many mistakes on my part, and I was sure I was just not meant to run this circuit.

Then I got put in all-or-mostly B lobbies the rest of the night. I started around P8 and finished P5.

Then a miracle happened. I ran a couple of practice laps between races and dropped my quali time by a second. I’m now at 1:30.something. That put me at P4 in the next race and I was able to wait out the crazy first lap and settle in for a P3. Next race same start and finished P2. Then I started pole in my last race and finished P1!!!!!

The quali time really makes a difference. I have to keep reminding myself of this. It really is a benefit to start up front and avoid the shenanigans.

What I learned from all this: I needed to have a terrible day like yesterday to jerk me back into paying careful attention to what I was doing, and focusing throughout the race on what other people were doing. I learned by watching and when it came time to run a quali lap I had a bunch of muscle memory stored up to drop my time.

Thanks for letting me rant in despair. I’m back into the A bracket again, so I quit while I was still on a good mood! I’ll get hammered again tomorrow, but at least I’m able to enjoy it now…

Well done!

My second day of C was a mix. Best start was p9 and finished p8, p12 and after a break to get my qual time down to 1:31.998 started p10 and finished on a good note with a p5. Slow but having fun racing and learning.

Went from hard to medium in the first two races and then went back to what I was practicing with over the weekend using medium for 7 laps then hard to finish. I think I’ll go back to medium first for a bit and see how much I like the better control in the first half. Seems to fit me better because when I switched to hard at the end I ran faster laps than I did when using hard to start the race.

Racing in B was fun last night, I did 3 races.

1st - started P8, managed to get to P4, got hit from behind and fell to P13, managed to finish P10
2nd - started P4, managed to get to P3 right behind the P1 and P2, it was a close fight right before someone smashed me from behind, fell to P10, finished P8
3rd - started on pole, finished 1st with a clean race

:D

I did 2 Race B last night, one with no qualy time and started last, finished P12 with clean race bonus.

Then set a time and started P5. Got murdered heading into Turn 1 at the start but the guy who caused the accident managed to take out almost everyone except P1 so I still had a chance.

Stupid that the clean bonus was taken away from me for that but managed to recover from P9 at least once I got going again 🙂🎉

I like this Race B, really enjoing

Yesterday something wreid happened.... on the main straight the guy in front on me was continously going left-right. Doing that he acually slowed down / travelled more, so I was able to close the gap, even though I was still 2-3 cars behind.

At some point, his car disappeared, letterally disappeared, not just ghosted

I continued with my line. Later on, still far from the turning point, his car reappered "into mine". crash and sand for both....

What the @#@#?!? Halloween summon?

Pretty sure that was lag. Happened to me yesterday and in another Race B just now.

Good day all,
My question is about custom race as a practice for the daily races.
My time available for racing is inconsistent at the moment. So that I don't MESS up someone else's race I try and get a lot of time trial laps in so I'm consistent. The past few weeks I've set up a custom race to "practice" with other cars on the track. The experience is similar, but not identical to the daily races. Any tips on custom race settings to best match a daily race?

Unfortunately I don’t think they is a way to set up a similar experience in custom races. The limited race settings and the rubber banding effect means it’s hard to replicate a close race battle. I think if you change the “boost setting“ to strong or weak, it closes up the rubber banding effect.
When I do custom race tests I will only have 2 cars on track and set the AI to easy. For me the practice is all about learning the track and the track lines, hitting consistent lap times, learning the tyre and fuel model and if it’s quick to pit in the race. In TT you can do lap after after lap, but the tyres have unlimited grip, and the fuel is set to 1 lap so you get unrealistic race practice.
Other option is maybe finding an online practice lobby. I know some people race these as you don’t lose DR, and making an mistake obviously isn’t as costly the. Sport races.

Just had three daily races. My first this week, and those will also be my last. Maybe not just for this week.

On race B, its the 155 again. They are three seconds a lap quicker than my m4. So, there still is no BOP at all.

Race C is mostly Porsches, because its allowed to race the RSR against GT3s, which is very weird. Also, zero BOP. But the worst part is that people now know that the penalty system doesnt work at all. So atthe hair pins its just a suckfest because people dont even try to actually drive through the corner. Instead, its a competition about who gets leaned on and who gets to lean on. Because there is absolutely zero penalties for that.

This game is a disgrace for online racing games. The worst possible outcome.

There's definitely a varied strategic opportunity in Race C.

So, quali is best in the Mazda. But it kinda sucks on tyre wear. I don't like the Porsche, so alternative car needed. Tried the Alfa because I have good memories throwing it around DTG on GT Sport, it's decent on tyres and fuel but it gets bullied around the track if the racing is close.

Different cars combined with different strategies means this race could stay interesting right through till Sunday night. Maybe if more people chose to drive a car they are comfortable handling, rather than the META, we wouldn't see so many dirty, careless and desperate moments.

I had success with the Nissan Skyline Silhouette...it's aerodynamic body kit mean fuel use is less than in the Mazda or Porsche.....but it's plenty quick with the twin turbos to keep good race pace...I finished p6 by taking RM and 3 laps of fuel at lap 9/10....also some forgot to pit to put on RH or RM and got a penalty, so I passed them as well....

Just need to vent here. Just did two race b's. A driver pitted me on the hairpin before the long turn, on lap 1. He's been a thorn in my side before - not a clean racer. Starting next race, I chatted saying "You pitted me. Don't do it again." He said he was sorry. Then on the last lap of this second race, he did the exact same thing. Afterwards one guy called him dirty, and I said "Seriously?". He said something about going too fast. I said "Once is a mistake, twice is on purpose".

He said, and I quote: "I need help". smh.

Welcome to GT online. :)

On a side note, PIT is actually an acronym for Precision Immobilization Technique. Boom, knowledge bomb. Now ya'll know (assuming you didn't already).

I saw the name before the edit. I’m familiar with him too. That guy, and the many others like him, is what makes Sport mode not attractive to so many people.

Was he actually asking for help, or just dismissing the whole thing by declaring that he has "problems"?
