Raced with you in C tonight. Definitely a rough start. Started p10 and finished p4 due to attrition in front of me and I just turned consistent laps.
Keep trying and you’ll catch a similar break:). Maybe.
I’m sorry I didn’t see you. Do you use the same name here as online?

I found myself all the way up to P4 a couple of times but the antics were so crazy that I just couldn’t stay out of the way. I kept telling myself to slow down and let the crazies past, be patient and it’ll work out. All it got me was the feeling like I was driving backwards because I lost so many positions!

I don’t know how I can drive consistently fast laps when I’m qualifying, but in the race everyone, and I mean everyone, is going faster than me! Maybe I’m being too nice, but when I try to fight back I’m the one who gets spun out. By the time I lose ten seconds to get back in the track my race is over. If it were once I’d just forget about it, but it’s been every freakin’ race!

Ugh. Maybe this should be a week off. I hate fuel saving races anyway. Does anybody know how long it takes to refuel after changing tires?

Capt. Slow racing name.

Yeah, I just kept waiting out just behind harms way and got lucky too.
Just before the last lap p3 and p4 were battling a bit and I gained my final spot when p4 spun.

I can’t do much better than a 1:32.3 yet qualifying so far so starting back from you.
No fuel saving for me. I just let fuel fill enough for 1 lap further than finish and it kept me in the hunt.

Only did one and done as I gained my first pass at DR A this weekend and want to continue to enjoy racing how I have getting to this point.

Usually hang in race B but C will be my hangout this week along with a little A to play around a bit.

A race was fun in the M3 03 from prior A race a while back. Handles great and raced with no practice and got it to 59 flat while racing which was a learning curve on the first few laps.

Monday means Race A day. Well, at least for me.

As I seem to be a bit better with road cars than with the real racers, this could get me some decent results, right? (And no DR reward to show for it anymore, of course...😬)

First I went a bit oldschool with one of my special friends:

8FE5139D-CBF8-40E2-BE88-0F2AF8F9D99B.jpeg

But, as the foto evidence shows, it lacks a bit of traction...😆

So i decided to give my Tuscan a facelift and a bit of tuning (thanks @Tidgney again, I just applied his 'vette tuning with only minor tweeks, and it worked just fine). Ten qualifying laps, and I'm at 57:3 or so and in the top 50. Last time I checked, still in the top 100. So once again, either I'm decent or almost nobody is playing this... I'd bet it's the latter...😜

I did one race then, the story is quickly told: P2 on the grid, good run off the line, had a chance for a dive at T1 but backed out of it to stay clean. Then P3 tried to push me a bit at the exit of T1, probably inadvertently, but I survived. This is the one decisive moment where I've just lined up in P2 again:

From there on it was unexpectedly boring, more or less race over. A procession over ten laps. Nobody went with reckless qualifying speed, everybody was racing clean. Nobody made any major mistake at all, and so I finished P2, 1.5 sec behind P1, 1 sec. before P3, like the gaps had been for the whole race. It would have ended the same if it had been just one lap.

So, tuesday, Alfa cup is next...😆

Won both race A and B in succession yesterday. In race A, I qualified on a 58.0 but did a 57.6 in the race (which would’ve been good enough for top 50 at the time) on my way to a comfortable victory with the Viper.

Race B was a much closer affair, with a fellow Alfa chasing me within half a second for most of the race that meant I had to defend like crazy into the braking zones. Eventually cars from behind my rival overtook and tussled with him allowing me to take the victory by a couple of seconds.

At long last, I’m DR B now.

I hit DR A a few weeks ago and barely held on for a couple weeks by avoiding races I was no good at. I realized my desire to keep the A was in direct conflict with my desire to race, so I gave in and started racing a lot last week. I’m still hovering at high B, but last night was murder! I’ll keep at it but I’ll have to swallow my ego for a while.

Make sure you holler at me if you see me again. I’ll try to remember your name.

Is anyone having luck in any car other than the Porsche or Nissan? I tried the BRZ which was great on tires. I got ten laps on RM! But it’s so dang slow that I don’t think the tires make up for it. And it’s surprisingly bad on fuel economy! I’d like a crack at a non-meta car if I’m going to be losing anyway!

The Genesis was, let's say: interesting in qualifying. I missed my best Q time in the Nissan by only one tenth. It was very forgiving riding the sausages. A bit clunky for the rest of the lap, though.

Anyway, I couldn't watch the replay to analyse, because the thing is so d@mn ugly. 🤣

Got a win on Daily A yesterday. Used the Viper with Barrett's tune. Did some quali laps and got a 57.5 which I was pretty happy with seeing how this is the first road car Daily race. Started P2 but the Viper had the grunt over P1's Supra to take the lead into T1. From there, it was just a parade session for 10 laps. Meh, I'll take it. Win #71 on the 1 account.

So what happens to the handling of the car if I lower the rear suspension? It works, but looks ridiculous.

The ft-1 was pretty nice/quick to drive but it did seem to be a bit thirsty 🍻

So I take back all the nasty things I said about the BRZ. It’s so light that I got ten easy laps on RM, which made for a very comfortable finish at P3. I started 3 laps in RH and refueled completely, which only added four seconds to my stop. I think by not fiddling with fuel saving and driving all out this car makes up for the lack of top speed. It is incredibly stable so I think I could probably find another second of lap time if I work at it.

I admit: it was an early morning insomniac lounge of mixed ratings, but I finished behind two As and in front of one other, so it wasn’t like I was dunking on grade school kids. I’ll take it.

plugged the g29 back in after about a month and a half and put some laps in - happy that the damage situation has been fixed, but didn't feel in-form enough to do any races.

aside from the sensitive damage, i stopped playing because most races featured people manipulating the penalty system... and also because i tend to race at 'off' times, and its deflating have 8 player fields. if i'm lucky there is one other driver at my level, but towards the end of August it seemed like even that was rare (aside from after 5pm EST). i could play GTS any time of day and would have full fields, and the game was 'at the end of its life'.... and in that game, i could be competitive in different cars, which was neat.

are penalties any better, and are there more racers playing?

(non daily race observations - after 40 days, i came back to 6 new races and 3 opportunities to purchase raffle tickets. there has been seemingly no progress in terms of the best Sport BOP cars, seemingly the three-tier system has been a complete dud. i've said it about 4000 times, but its still amazing to me that we were told to have a long term vision for this game!)

So, race B today.

I couldn't have imagined that a race B with Alfas could go EXACTLY like yesterday's race A, but that's what it did: Started P2, finished P2, one second behind P1, CRB, fastest lap, and all the podium finishers didn't make one single mistake, so it was a procession again. Here is what it looked like for the whole race:

But on the other hand, I have to admit that the Alfa is sure fun to drive. And that might be the moment that, after annoying a lot of people with my constant moaning and complaining about the Alfa drivers, I also should admit that I have a dark past concerning Alfa myself, especially with that very car: Not only have I been driving Alfas in real life for almost 25 years now, I also made a painting last year for my son's 15th birthday which still hangs on the wall in his room:

Whilst that actual penalty is a bit of nonsense, do keep in mind you could've avoided that collision collecting you at all. It's often times better to back off or compromise yourself than it is to hold your foot down. It might be slower than a normal line, but it's quicker than ending up in the wall or in the sand.
Oh, I totally agree. Honestly, I was so caught up in rubber-necking that it didn't even occur to me that it might come back onto the track. It was a learning experience, that's for sure.

So I got this 5 second penalty today. What utter BS:

It's annoying but it's how the system computes it. You hit them albeit accidentally and they went off after the hit.
The shame is that you can get a penalty for that hit but someone can take you out and not get a thing.

Totally get where you’re coming from on this. I’d love to make DR A and I know I could have made that jump last week with DR boosting, but then i feel like I’m cheating the system by been in a level I’m not supposed to be in. If I make A I want to make it and be able to compete with these guys.
Online lobbies for me have been brilliant. I’ve been racing with friends that are A+ & A drivers mostly, and I have noticed my driving has improved massively. I was on average about 3/4 seconds off these guys but now it’s down to 1.5/2 seconds. Also the good thing is if I make a mistake I know it’s not going to punish me in the DR.

Id love to try other cars for Daily C but in the past thats never really worked for me. What was your race time in the BRZ? Porsche I’m about 20.30

When I was ranked A I was clearly outclassed in those lobbies, so I’m a bit happier in the B lobbies. But what I miss is that I was learning some things in the A lobbies that I don’t find in the B ones. But I have a lot more to learn all around so I think it’s best for me to be properly rated at high B for now.

I don’t know what my final time was in the BRZ. I always forget to check! But I was running quali laps at around 1:32 which is a little slower than my Porsche times. I haven’t done the math so I don’t know what the difference is in 6 laps on RM vs slightly slower 10 laps on the RMs. All I can say for sure is that I never once felt out of control in the BRZ, just planted and stable the whole way, and a little more nimble.

That's very true. It can be applied to a lot of things.
What comes to mind is when I was really getting into snow skiing. I didn't learn much when I was doing it alone, but when I would go out with friends who were way better than me, I improved quickly.
I suppose it has to do with being challenged to follow somebody who goes harder and faster than you're used to. 👍

I haven't actually raced in Daily Race A yet, but so far, I think I have a time in the top 3k - and using a Nissan Skyline GT-R (KPGC10), at that.

Sometimes it feels like playing two totally different games.

I did another two races B. In the first, the grid contained some A rated drivers. A/A, to be precise. I don't know why PD puts them together with B/S drivers. Especially, when the latter are still some good results away from an A rating themselves (I'm at B at approximately 2/3 of the progress bar right now). So, of course, the "regression to the mean" occured. I start P3, some hard fighting through the first to laps with a lot of position changes gets me to P4, and then I get completely obliterated by a divebomber in the first hairpin and have to chase the pack from last place. The guy who has punted me got a 5 sec. penalty, but still finishes way ahead of me. I'm P12 in the end. A typical day at the office...😆

So I consider dumping race B for this week and trying race C instead, but finally decide to jump into another one. This time the lobby contains of B/S drivers exclusively, I'm starting on pole, get a win, CRB and fastest lap. And the race has the best sequence I've ever been a part of so far in online racing: side by side with P2 for ten seconds through the right/double left/right hairpin, giving each other space, until I finally keep the lead. The rest was seven and a half lonely laps with an increasing gap to the following drivers.🥳

Maybe, juuust maybe, I'll give it another go tomorrow...😅

I actually had good success with the Nissan Skyline Silhouette, it's actually surprisingly good on gas too and I only had to add like 3 laps worth to make the end, pitting on lap 9/10..... finished p6 after just staying in it despite falling back and people giving up....also one didn't pit so they got a penalty... forgot to add I did RH to start the race switched to RM at lap 9/10....then I just went full blast using the RM to make up time on those who started on RM then switched to RH.....

So I was playing around with different strategies and which cars might be the go to for Race B.....it seemed like the 911 or Mazda Stealth were always at the top... surprisingly in Race A the Toyota Crown was pretty competitive against the various Tuscons in the race.....still can't get a lap under 1:01.xx

Edit sorry I meant race A I used the Toyota Crown....

Such an idiot, done 3 races tonight before the crazy crash hour starts and I had 2 pole position and did some self inflicted pain on myself.
1st and 2nd race, pole.
1st race - Made a mess and forgot to put the hard tyres on to start, and then Lap 2 on the first race I hit the sausage and spin on the chicane. Recover back to P6 so wasn’t too bad that race. I went for the flat out approach on this race.
2nd race - pole again. This time I put hard tyres on and I was going to go with the fuel save option, but this I spun out on the exit just before the quad right hander. P10, now going into lap2. Car ahead makes a mess of the chicane that gives me a run. I’m on the inside of the car ahead going down the hill, but for what ever reason this car decides he wants the same space of track I’m on. I take the corner and through. Then at the quad right hander they decided my move at the hairpin was dirty and they took me out. Finished P12.
3rd race - P4 start. Hard tyres again but flat out approach. Managed to keep it on the tarmac (just - had a moment on lap5) this time and finished P3.

Im unsure if fuel save or flat approach is best for Daily C?

Im loving the game again - the time away has done me good

If I race alone in last place will I get my S rating back?

I'm sick and tired of Race B this week. Every race I'm matched with worse people, which makes me angrier and as a result my SR goes down. After grinding for A, I'm back at C. I've never been this angry playing GT before. I'm almost destroying my controller.
There's no point in being clean. There will always be some bully to push you on purpose and they'll never get a penalty.

Yes as long as you keep to track limits and finish the race on time(no dnf). I tried to find a link that explains this well. I believe it was written by @Famine. I’m sure someone will pick up my slack and post the link. 🍻 oh and race C will give you the best opportunity to repair SR

Yeah, just go with race C. Start on mediums and do a couple of laps and switch to hards and take it very easy. You may want to even pull over at the start and let everyone by to ensure that you’re alone. You’ll putt along behind the pack for most of the race and as long as you can resist the urge to race, you’ll finish clean and get your SR back in a couple races or so. The key is as many laps as you can with a CRB at the end. The longer races will give you more opportunity to collect clean driving points.

My problem is that I can’t resist the urge to drive with my elbows out even when I’m trying to avoid a racing incident!

I'm the same I try to give room but sometimes I just like to bang doors with others and race hard for every position.....they get sometimes pissed but oh well...
