Nothing wrong. I'm just slow.
Nahhhhh you're missing something, that is a long way off based on your pace at other tracks. I personally love the track, each corner flows so nicely.

So tried C last night and yeah, not digging the tyre wear. Managed a 15.3 in qualy which seems competitive but the Supra EATS front tyres in the race, the Nissan is far better in that respect. Spun in my first two races, the kerbs are slippery if you hammer the throttle, then won my 3rd race.

PD should run a Sophy lap at Maggiore to find the fastest possible Gr4 time, anybody with a quicker lap time on the leaderboards is a cheat and should have their account suspended for the rest of the year.
They probably could hand out some punishments if they wanted to.
I'm pretty sure there's something in the user agreement about not using exploits.

Two things driving in a race just finished in Daily Race C - Poly have played with the auto boxes and slowed them down. The Jag F type I raced here has enough initial acceleration to pass any Supra ahead of me, but in the races the manual supras are quick everywhere, there acceleration woes are no longer present they get to their higher top speed faster than my jag and even up the hill half a second behind I was getting no slipstream from any of the front 4.

going into the last lap I’m 2nd - mainly down to pit stops, last corner 3rd place uses me to brake, he picks up 2 seconds for the penalty and crosses the line 3 seconds in front of me, he punts me into the wall whereby I get a second and a half penalty meaning 2 when I cross the line he retains 2nd place

this game is so flawed, Poly have had hundreds of millions of dollars to invest in the series over the years and you’re telling me a 4K sheen on an ageing game engine is the pinnacle of their efforts, even the most ardent fan of the game must accept it’s pretty poor return, daily races haven’t changed at all since GTS, i Don’t know who runs Polyphony now Or controls their dev roadmap but if this is the best you can do then it’s time to retire the series

Did some qualifying for Race A. First, I was able to get the Skyline GT-R (KPGC10) within the regulations of 345hp/2205lbs, but it didn't handle well at all. Even when I put TCS at 1, it felt like it was way too easy to oversteer. Still, I got a time of 2:17.xxx. So then I tried my 2JZ-swapped GR Yaris, but it was about 200lbs above the minimum weight even when ballast was at a minimum. Nevertheless, the driving experience felt much better - probably because it's an AWD car - and I got a time of 2:15.xxx, which I think was within the top 2.6k times.

Nice to be back in C and competing for the top 5 consistently.

I know it's mostly just decals on a black surface but looking fine as well :P

The Mustang is an unheralded gem on this game, it's always quick and matching the more regular choices.

I suspect it is not PD fiddling but folks learning to short shift the Supra.

Oh it is plenty fast, if it's not in the wall or facing backwards.

I managed to get the Skyline down to a 15 flat, best of 14.8 so I think that's it for qualifying. I wish i could buy this car, absolutely hate not using a livery.

Just managed a win at Spa in the Corvette - very pleased! Sailed past the 84 Skyline at the start then managed to take advantage of P2 and P3 squabbling. No such luck in the next race - can't even close on the Supra or 84 SSS when in their slipstream.

Had another really weird 'race'.. Lights went green, then right away it was the last lap! Finished 2nd, then got a 1 minute penalty for not changing tyres - but so did everyone else, so kept the 2nd place.

What sort of times are people setting at Spa? After about 10 quali laps I managed a somewhat scruffy 2.16.0 in the Mercedes. Was surprised that got me 4th in an all B lobby. Had a really enjoyable race with a couple of really good battles, one of which included going side by side with a Nissan GTR through the left kink before the last chicane - both making it through there and the following chicane side by side without touching.
I managed 4 laps on the softs before pitting for mediums. Ended up finishing 3rd. The lobby was also the widest variety of cars I’ve ever seen in a gr3 race - Supra’s, Mercs, GT-R’s, 911’s, Mustangs, Vipers to name a few.
Hope Race C continues to be this enjoyable!
2.14.8 in SSS.
In A loobies Im starting between P5 and P8 with that time and easily losing 1 or 2 positions against Supras, 911s and McLarens at La Source at the very start (the gear box is really awful)
The start is pure suffering on the SSS but the rest of the race is quite enjoyable because of all that downforce.

Noticed what you said about variety of cars, and its great!

I haven't tried Spa this week but I was about the same off pace as you on GT Sport there. Never did figure out why.
Try turning on the line, and follow it religiously (as fast as you can). I tis not perfect but Spa is very line dependent. Other broad tips.........

spa-track-map.jpg

  • Don't brake too hard into LaSource, try to carry more speed and get on the throttle earlier rather than hard brake, pivot then throttle
  • Les Combes sequence, there's a LOT of time here. So end of Kemmel, take the right as per the line then sacrifice some time through the left hander and prioritise getting on the throttle for Malmedy
  • I stink through turn 11, but you MUST clip the apex
  • TIGHT line through 13 and 14
  • Stavelot (15) is the most important turn on the track, there is a SECOND to be had. Get on the throttle as early as you dare AND DO NOT LIFT until the turn 19 chicane. If you lift, you've messed up your line.
  • Brake earlyish for 19, sacrifice 19 for speed and exit through 20. TBH on a qualy lap it's the opposite as speed at end of straight is irrelevant.
  • MAKE SURE YOU'RE ON SOFTS!

My first taste of afternoon daily racing in GT7 today at Spa. I didn't improve my qualifying time, but my practice laps were consistent and that is good for me. I also saw @Sven Jurgens in my races which was a nice to see.

Absolute chaos in race 1 this afternoon. Most of it was my fault so I'm to share the blame for it. I started P3 on the medium tires and I just miss the exit of Raidillon and pick up a .5 second penalty. I then go off track exiting Campus and I cannot recover properly and hit the wall and get a wall collision penalty. I drop to P13 after the penalty is served and just carry on. I then get into the back of a car who basically stopped to make the turn entering the bus stop chicane and pick up a 2 second penalty. Yay. I pit on lap 4 and it's a circus at the pit entry with cars everywhere. Quite amusing coming up on that scene. A few more off track penalties keep me from P8. But, they spin coming out of the bus stop on the final lap and I take P8 home.

Race 2 has me in P2 this time. P1 had a bad start I guess and I lead the first 2 laps. Unfortunately I hit the wall at La Source and get damage and a wall collision penalty. Bah.... I get another wall collision penalty and damage when I catch the green stuff going wide exiting at Speaker's Corner a few laps later. Man, it's just not my day with these self inflicted mistakes. I finish P7 in the end and I call it a day.

Maybe it's me being rusty with not having raced in 2 weeks or I'm not as good as I thought at Spa, but I was struggling out there. Still did pretty good in my opinion, but I left some higher finishes on the table. The racing was a bit elbows out, but nothing overly dirty from my vantage point. I also need to compensate for worn tires as I haven't had to deal with that for some time now other than the standard 1x for race B. Perhaps I can FINALLY reach rank A as there is no space left on the progress bar.

At Red Bull Ring Short Track, what's the best way to handle when someone tries to take the inside at T1? I don't have video for my first encounter with this, but suffice it to say that it didn't end well for me.

The next time it happened, I don't like the guy who tried it, so I tried to crowd him off the track (my bad), and although nobody got hurt, I lost a couple of positions (probably deservedly):

The next lap I tried it myself, just to experience it from the other side. I tried to give him room, and we both avoided any significant damage or penalties. Still, it's not something I would do from here on out, unless there were extenuating circumstances.

The other thing I tried was just giving up the position to the guy on the inside, but that meant I had to slow down some through T1, and the guy behind me rammed me (I don't blame him - he was focusing on the apex and didn't expect some idiot to slow down in front of thim).

So how do you guys handle this?

Interesting week for me on daily races.

Daily B - lake maggiore - never had chance to do a lap or to race (“CHEAT”)

Daily B (take two) - red bull short - done a few races from the back in this and had some really good racing. Used the 155 to start with and worked up to a P4. Next race not so good as I made an error under braking which cause a fish tail slide and off I went, P10 for that. Then I decided to try the Veyron. Not a bad car but off a few corners it’s lacking a few horses. Managed to get a P7 in this car. Then I used Lambo. Loved the Lambo round this combo. Final two corner can be a bit dodgy with the rear but other than that I think this is a good competition for the 155. Did some TT laps and best I got so far is 0.53.497. Not done TT laps yet in the 155 but I’m expecting them to be close

Daily C - spa - not raced this yet but in the practice lobbies I did I was off the pace and this has carried over to TT as well. Tried to Silhouette to start with and it’s a quick car especially round the corners but I couldn’t get this under 2.17.5. Supra next and managed 2.17.0. Hyundai I find round this track is really good in the corners but obviously straight line is ok, 2.16.7 for the Hyundai. Jumped in the Mustang as I see a few guys from here have used and on my first lap I pulled off a 2.16.311. Now the only downside I’ve seen with the mustang is that I chews the front tyres. Is the mustang a race car or just a TT car?
Not sure if I will race Spa as my time feel slow and my race pace feels too slow too. Shall see as the week goes on for this race.

I dunno man. I did one race there in my WRX and hated it. I find that if someone is diving into T1 underneath me that hammering the brakes and lining up for a tighter exit can undercut them quite a bit so maybe?

Otherwise hold the outside line and expect a bump to come because the way they were entering they were exiting through your car regardless.

I'm doing race C this week because I just strongly dislike the entry into T2-3 at the mini ring circuit

edit race c update:
So my qualy time is a 2:19:xx in the skyline. I'm slow, B DR. Start in 9th, make my way to 7th after some La Source carnage. Things are calm for a few more laps and then the driver in front gets in trouble through the 7-8-9 complex. Took 6th from him and started working on 5th.

Miscalculate my lap count and pit at end of lap 3 instead of end of lap 4. Ok, gonna make softs work for 5 laps (pro tip: don't do that they're dead half way through lap 8)
Was all the way up to 4th by the time pits cycle through and held that position through the rest of the race. Finished on the podium in 3rd because the 3rd place finisher either didn't know about tires or forgot to change them.

Either way loads of fun and the skyline is a blast to drive. Gonna take the supra for a spin tonight and see how that goes.

Hi Folks, I noticed a strange behavior in the game in the Interlagos time trial. When using a stock GT-R r34 from my garage nothing out of the ordinary but I noticed that I was able to select a slightly Tuned one I own too. Using it induce a BOP being applied but when racing it on track the engine sound is very low and there is no exhaust sound to be heard. It was quite the shock when I started my lap. The tuned parts involved in this are: "sport" Air Filter intake and "sport" exhaust muffler ( there is Sport brakes kit and pincers (?) as well (plaquette de frein in French) but there is no other change engine wise.
I guess the "original" sound of the car cannot be restored since the parts are present on it but since the car is BOPed so this kind of bug occurs.
I will not be able to replicate this behavior since we will have to wait a TT where you can select another slightly tuned car I guess ? Cheers

Sounds the same as what I experienced. I have two accounts, this I do each TT twice. One my primary account my R34 had some exhaust bits and other things whereas on the secondary account I didn't even own one, so I bought a new one. Even though the BoP will even them out, they sounded different for sure.

Thanks, this is good. If I remember correctly, I do have a tendency to lift at certain spots, including that turn 3, 4, and 5 area. What is often the case in these situations where I'm inexplicably way behind the competition is that I am getting one of the key corners wrong; like turn 1.

I'll try it out when I got some time. Priority has been going to GoW Ragnarok.

I have best ever DR, now comfortably in A but my SR is down the drain, currently at C and since they brought cars closer together at the start it's been a nightmare to claw back to S where I've been since the March.

Racing on Spa, even if you don't get any penalty but just slightly touch other car, you get clobbered in SR. But it's virtually impossible not to have contact even if you scale back aggressiveness all the way back like I did. I don't care about placement at all now but what am I to do if I'm faster and need to pass through.

This has become hellish and what, now I'm at the precipice of reset? For what, trying to avoid others as much as I can. I cannot have clean race when everything is so close together. I just can't.

End rant.

Is this losing SR for slight contact a new thing? I've never had this issue; at least not in GT7.

IDK, maybe they punish you harsher if you are already further down SR 🤷‍♂️
Long story short, if I don't get clean race now I'm not moving up, only potentially backwards.
IDK, but think I'm not capable of not touching anyone over 8 laps of closely contested race from places 3-8 on Spa.

I recall someone mentioning that if your DR is higher than the other person's, the blame shifts to you, regardless. I don't know if it's true but I've read that here. Your best bet may be to qualify even higher.

Edit - switched SR out for DR. I meant DR.

Monza last week was an SR killer for a lot of people.

This is going to be a slow week for me. I just don't like the Nissan SSS; I feel like with the lag and slow gear shifts you have to re-learn how to drive it. That, and I think it's Fugly... fight me. So despite some initial excitement, doesn't look like I'll be doing much/any C races.

B is an Alfa fest, no thanks.

On A I tried a tune on the F50 and spend a boat load of money only to realize the car is super sketchy. THat and I hate the Tokyo tracks so... blah.

This will be a good week to get caught up on God of War.

Don’t closely contest them. At the start pull to the side and let everyone by. Race a clean race from the back a couple times. You’ll lose some DR, but the more laps you run without any incident, the faster your SR will recover.

I got dropped down to B/A yesterday after some brutal races (see my post last night). So not only was I racing mid pack with B drivers, they were bad sports as well. I finally was able to get a couple of races with little contact and was back up to B/S today, and with better lobbies I was able to get my DR back as well. Give it a try.

Definitely figure out how to take a line through 3-4-5 that doesn't require lifting. I know I can make that flat in the Skyline, Supra, and Mercedes. You're going to lose massive amounts of time to the drivers who can take that flat out if you aren't doing it.

I'd focus on like 3 areas: Get La Source (T1) right. Get 3-4-5 flat out. Get the entry and exit to the chicane that ends the lap right. Those are the biggest trouble spots on the lap

Yea, I had that in mind but that's admitting defeat basically. Can't do it. Not this week when I'm suddenly fast.
I'll ride this through and what happens - happens, it's not the end of the world.
