So I guess I have to admit that I'm no good at Spa. It's still early in the week, so maybe I'll finally learn it, but so far I'm doomed to finish last or near-last. I haven't found the car I'm good at yet, but it does seem like this track prefers FR cars and actually hates MR cars and wants to murder them. I can't hit the final chicane or T1 without spinning in MR cars, including the Porsche. Does anyone know how to be more successful in those, or is it one of those tracks where the constant change in elevation and camber is just going to make life hard for those cars?
keep this under your hat but I've been known to flick my TCR to 1 from 0 entering La Source so that I don't have to worry about how hard to hammer throttle coming out of it.

The requirements for games these days is massive. It's funny that fighting games have adapted this model for a long time and no one seems to question it. There's a limited cast followed by subsequent patches for busted characters while releasing DLC that is usually OP/meta and thus needs to be bought if you want to be competitive. Yet no one calls the game "unfinished" or a "beta".

Even Cyberpunk as an example is finally good (?) after almost 2 years of patches and bug fixes. I really am not sure how easy it is to patch games these days and to fix meta standards. We can BoP the Supra/911 to the shadow realm but SuperGT and the other YTers are just going to usher a new meta car that we'll subsequently complain about.

I play this game purely for fun and I can have battles in 1st, 4th or 10th. I genuinely enjoy racing and I'll always race with whichever car I find most fun on the track.
Agree to this. I think with the way the world is now that the majority of people have internet and most now having access to high speed internet it’s easier for game developers to get the main core of the game done and completed and for then to send out patches and updates to consumers via the internet. Obviously not everyone has high speed internet so any updates for these people are pain due to the file sizes.

Ive not played Cyberpunk so im only going off what I know, but this is a good example. Game released unfinished but through patches and updates they now have a complete game.
Modern Warfare 2 has broken traditio, by moving the game to a bi-yearly release. Between the two years the game will be updated with patches and new updates to improve the game and release new content rather then building a new game from scratch every year.

GT7 I think is a in a similar position to both those games. Loved playing GT7 over the last year, but the game was definitely unfinished and shouldn’t have been released in my opinion. But for PD getting the game released to co-inside with the 25th anniversary, I think was more import to them then delaying the game for another year. What with fast internet now been widely available for most players, sending updates and patches was obviously the better option for PD. I guess PD had to weigh up the options in pissing of players in delaying the game, delay and miss the 25th anniversary or release the game and lose players. I’m pretty sure they is a huge update due before or about March/April time that will transform this game.

When you're trying to BOP for the vast differences in skill levels you see among GT players you're basically shooting in the dark. I know there are drivers far faster than I am in my preferred car and can set top times. I can't set them. I can come closer in the "meta car" than I can my preferred car because the "meta car" is easier to drive.
BOP biggest issue especially in Gr4 is the 4WD. If you take away 4WD cars the rest are pretty much equal. Also the other issue is the period these are are from. The 155 racing specs & regulations for that period will be totally different to the latest racimg specs and regulations. I think trying to balance different racing specs from different periods of time is difficult to balance. Same in Gr2. The CLK was built all around been slippy and fast in a straight line for Le Mans, where as the Nissan is built for corners and been fast on the tracks in Japan. When these two cars are available in a race together (I.e deep forest a few months ago) the old Gr2 cars were untouchable due to straight line speed, but if you then reduce the straight line speed the modern day cars are then untouchable through the corners and would dominate. (P.s I could be talking rubbish by the way, but that how I see BOP working)

The only way to BoP work flawlessly is to put every car physics exactly the same. If we want FF, FR, 4WD, MR and RR, long wheelbase, short wheelbase, all feel slightly different, the is no bulletproof balance of performance. Even a well balanced BoP will have some dominant cars, depending on track characteristics suiting better to each car pros and cons, as it happens in real life GT3 or TCR.

I real life things are a little different because of car availability on the market, previously owned cars, different running costs, main sponsor preferences and so on, apart from that some TCR, GT3 or GT4 championships would be a META grid, just like this races.
Very true. Many examples of this especially in GT3 racing. Audi has been a "dominant" champion in GT Masters for years but Porsche and lately Mercedes have been coming on strong. With that said, it would be nice if PD could take the top 10, 20 (world) qualifying times and apply "success ballasts" to those cars in real time for the duration of the week (looking at you Supra Racing Concept and Super Silhouette). That would be so cool and would make the racing not perfect meta-wise just like you said, but certainly more interesting, unpredictable, and enjoyable imho. Will never happen, just dreaming out loud.

I think you basically nailed it

There is an exploit in race B. Cuts 10 seconds off the time.
Is it "Use the Alfa Romeo 155"?
If you stop at a certain place on the track (just after S2 ends) for like five seconds, it teleports you to the finish line. Just saw it live on Digit's stream, but I can't time stamp the video since it's still live at the moment (at least I don't know how). If you go to ~1:07 from the start you should see it.

ETA: Easier to see video, straight to the point.

what the actual **** that's insane

Does it work in the race too, or just quali?
I didn't see anyone try it during the race. Winner finished only 14 or so seconds ahead of me, I was in 11th. I assume you can't pull it off during the race unless you're way down at the bottom b/c the drivers following you will push you out of the way

I think I have got the suspension just about right. I just posted the #6 lap time in the world. 👍
Although, when I get home from work tonight, it will probably be about 25 or 30.

It's easiest for me to share screenshots of my tune in the game. Are you friends with my sturk0167 account?
Any of my friends in the game can have the tune, also. Just send me a message on PSN.

Nope, you are still quite high in the rankings. I took the Cayman myself, also tweaked your tuning from last week without really knowing what I'm doing. The car is a joy to drive there, but after a few laps which felt quite smooth, I was still over five seconds behind you time and had no idea what to do.

Until I realized that it might help to make the car 200 kilos lighter... 🤣

So, much faster, but still almost 2 seconds slower than you 👽, but P57 momentarily. Still have the feeling that I'm missing something. Wrong gearing? More downforce? Shortshifting?

Okay, give me your settings or I'll... no wait, not the "kill these puppies" joke. I'll send a PSN message instead. 😇

It doesn't work.
Lighter cars will always be faster in twisty circuits and more powerful cars will be faster in circuits that top speed is more important.
Also the same power obtained from a high revving, low torque NA engine, a big NA high torque engine, a turbocharged or a supercharged engine have very different power curves.
Also, lighter cars are more tire and gas mileage friendly.
Even with similar power and weight, GT and Touring cars proved that the engine+drivetrain configuration produces different levels of performance.
P.ex: in old 2.0 NA engines touring car formula, the FR cars (BMW E36 and E46) were a lot faster than their FF counterparts at same power/weight levels. The FR cars were always on a higher minimum weight, sometimes 100kg heavier. Not even to mention the shortlived 4WD supertouring cars, like de Audi A4 or the Ford Mondeo.
On GT, special in GT2/GTE cars, more focused on the same power/weight and torque curves, soon it was realised that FR cars, like the Aston Martin Vantage or the Chevrolet Corvette needed an weight break to fight the RR/MR Porsche and Ferrari rivals. The Aston Martin Vantage were regularly a lot lighter than Porches and Ferraris, usually between 60 to 100kg on the old model and something between 30 to 50kg on the new model. Also the Corvette C7 was usually about 30kg lighter than the reference weight.
Totally get your point and it’s really well made and you’re right, I didn’t think it would solve the problem but I do think it would allow players a greater range of cars to be competitive with. The GR4 category is the mush mash of drivetrains and engines - I just think whatever the solution used - you should be able to match the best times in any car Not be restricted because the developer can’t put the effort in to balance the game

What sort of times are people setting at Spa? After about 10 quali laps I managed a somewhat scruffy 2.16.0 in the Mercedes. Was surprised that got me 4th in an all B lobby. Had a really enjoyable race with a couple of really good battles, one of which included going side by side with a Nissan GTR through the left kink before the last chicane - both making it through there and the following chicane side by side without touching.
I managed 4 laps on the softs before pitting for mediums. Ended up finishing 3rd. The lobby was also the widest variety of cars I’ve ever seen in a gr3 race - Supra’s, Mercs, GT-R’s, 911’s, Mustangs, Vipers to name a few.
Hope Race C continues to be this enjoyable!

Did 2 races in the Mustang at Spa tonight. P9 to P6 and then P6 to P3. Was on my way to P1nbut the guy previous in P1 went wide in the chicane so he could punt me.
He claims I hit him first. But on my screen there where no contact before that.
Anyway, I had a great race with a Dane through most of the race, trading places several times
I kept video, it's way to long to watch all (19 min) so if you want to see the Mustang in action you can skip around if you like. The guy in the Porsche rams me on lap 7.

Finally done it! I'm back down to C DR! Didn't tank just drove pretty 'meh' for a long time.

C for casual! I'm back with my people.

Daily B glitch works in race as well.

Stay away, gents.

There’s a similar even faster shortcut before the pits. Odd how nobody has figured that out yet in Daily B. I hope they patch that too when they manage to fix that pit exit one. 😅

Edit: Apparently only work in circuit experience.

how hard is it to execute in race though? Like it's easy in qualifying to get to the spot and stop but I would imagine anyone behind you would move you if you tried that during the race. Though I guess the moving driver would get the penalty and subsequent hit to SR...
will be interesting to watch, probably PD can't patch it fast enough to matter

Did it in Circuit Experience sector. One short moment being No. 1 in something even though it is quite shady. Won’t do it in Sport Mode ever. 😅

Any tips for Daily race A, what car is good besides Cayman GT4, F40 and Enzo?

I have done a 2.05.4 in the Cayman, I was hoping to find a slightly slower car for added challenge doing a 2.07-2.08. So far only done 2.09-2.10s in the Ferrari GTO 84' and NSX Type R (I hate how it handles). 🤔

But anyways, comfortable win in my first go at Daily race A from P2. P2 is the 'actual pole position', since you will be able to take the lead using the slipstream, before turn 1. That's exactly what I did, never looked back after that and I won the race by 2,5 seconds.

Someone did it in Digit's stream. They started up front (with like a 1:15/16 or whatever), spun on teh grass on the first lap, went to the back, then did the glitch. From there, he was untouchable and racing driving on his own, glitching every lap. So if you're at the back the first time and the only one doing it, pretty easy apparently.

I've also seen that you can park it on that pit entry as well... but get a massive penalty (33.500") when you appear on the front straight.
Any video clips of this glitch in Daily B?
Yes, literally on this page.

A bit off-topic: the glitch is also working on the Human Comedy mission.

Doing it everytime, by the end of lap 10 I had a 1:14 advantage to the 2nd place.

About the Cayman GT4: before the 1.25 update, this car could use SS tires, Fully custom ECU and racing intercooler and still be below 599pp. It was a fantastic car for Tokyo 600! Still is, since it's a car that can win the race using only SS.

It's very safe and pleasant to drive.
Well, I've tried the R33/R34 and they were way too slow. The Corvette C7 is faster, but still not enough to beat the F40.

This is probably going to get auto-merged with my previous post, which is too bad, because they're not related at all. So I'll try to draw attention to it with some formatting:

Earlier today, I turned off my PS5 with a DR/SR of B/C. When I turned it on later in the day, it was C/E. WTF is up with that?

I wish I had screenshots to prove it, but unfortunately I don't. But trust me, it happened. I know someone else mentioned something like this earlier, but I couldn't find it.
I had the same thing happen to me. B/S to C/A :/

Yeah that's what I thought would happen if you were last you could glitch to the front, if you're in front already just drive because the ppl behind can/will move you

I had two lobbies this afternoon. One where the top 2 glitched their time and one where we were all legit.
I called out the top two in the glitch lobby as cheaters before the race. Post race gave brief explanation of what they did.
One of them dropped all the way to the back after the start line, then left the lobby. The other one spun halfway through lap 2 and left the lobby.

oh **** I know what I'm doing tonight. Screw trying to win that normally!

I'm taking advantage of a week off of work to get some early racing in for Spa in my trusty Mustang. I did try the Supra, but ran identical times so I'll stick with what I know. Not that the Supra is bad, just not my favorite. I didn't even bother with the Silhouette as I remember having a heck of a time trying to control it in the Red Bull Ring time trial. I'm at a 2:16.4XX currently and I think i can squeeze a few more tenths out eventually. Feels good to get back on GT7 after two weeks off and I'm looking forward to some afternoon racing.

After all the grinding i've done at Tokyo , it be rude not too have a race, expecting it to be really close and I've qualified 2 secs faster than 2nd, some pillock intro message was I will ram you till i win. was a lonely race after a couple of turns and I could relax :) , The replay was awful everyone's car bar mine jerking from spot too spot all the way round.
