Question: how do you feel about people overtaking you on the inside of corner #1 of RBR?There's a 90% they will push you on the outside and possibly make you lose a few positions.

Since I am so respectful towards every player, I never try. If I see I'm faster and I have a chance to take the inside, I don't. I lift my foot from the accelerator and get behind the car in front of me.
Nothing wrong with it whatsoever. So long as you're both clean and leave space, it's fine. I've done it without issue.

Its a legit passing spot but you MUST be in front of the defending driver, trying to out brake them doesn't work because to make the apex your exit will be staggeringly slow.
See, nobody I race with understands this. Not even in A-S. They all come from way behind on the inside, I brake and turn like a normal human being, they brake after me and bam...they take me out. For them it's either gain one position at corner #1, or die.
And then they don't understand why I get mad.

Same as above.
Seems like I can't find clean drivers even in A-S. They don't give space. They're bossy. It was like this all week with the Alfa and it's still like this now.

It’s a terrible overtaking spot. Better to focus on taking the turn properly, nail one’s exit and do it in T2. Or T3.

Its a very tricky corner. You can't pass like a normal corner as the apex speed is too high but only if you take a realllllly wide line. So if you come up the inside on a narrow line, prepare to apex slow, therefore missing out on the pass and getting a lousy run onto the next straight. For this reason, I only try a pass if the guy in front made an error exiting the last turn and I've got a run on him.

3 races for me tonight as I love me some Red Bull Ring. I set a qualifying time of 1:30.0XX which was around the last time I set when we were here.

Race 1 has me in P8 to start. I pull a stupid and miss my brake point and take out a bunch of drivers on going into turn 1. I get a much deserved a 5 second penalty and drop way back in the field because I felt bad for everyone I took out. I try my best to catch up, and finish P9. I did send out a generic I'm sorry message post race. So a total disaster on my first attempt.

Race 2 sees me in P5 and I manage not to kill anyone going in to turn 1. But, I did get into the back of another car and get 2 second penalty for that entering turn 3 on the opening lap. I don't think I deserved that one honestly. Anyway, clean racing the rest of the way and I finish where I started in P5. A much better drive from me this time. There were also 2 cars with the ghost car glitch in the room and it's the first time I've seen that in person.

Race 3 and I'm P6 on the grid to start. I had some nice battles in this race with some actual side by side racing in the corners. I don't know there was no major contact with my fellow drivers. I have too many off tracks to keep up with the front of the pack. But I still finish P7 so that's good enough for me.

I would like to get my qualifying time down a few more tenths so I can start a bit higher on the grid. Also a huge shout out to drivers getting off the racing line when serving penalty, much appreciated.

Tried race A and was enjoying it.... seeing how I was being very competitive finishing top 3 most races.
Until I checked and all driver ratings are off, which explains the carnage at T1. I want be running race A
again because of that.

Did Race A for today because I like that the Chaparral 2J's being utilized for this week's Race A.

I managed to clock in a time of 1:57 and it was enough for me to be on pole twice for the second and third sessions.

In the first session I got to start in P2 as the pole sitter had a quali time where he was one sec quicker than mine's. Race starts and boom T1 shenanigans happened and I got the short end of the stick as I got beached and spun out a couple of times before getting the car stable again after getting beached. Lost about 10 positions as a result but I was able to recover and finish P3 in the process but it was a bummer that I got caught by the T1 shenanigans in Sardegna.

Second session I managed to nab pole position but just like the second session I got beached again and lost about 6 positions but this time I was able to recover quickly and by lap 5 I caught up to the leader and passed him on the penultimate corner and from there I got my first win on this Daily.

Third and last session for today and thankfully this time I didn't get beached but still got caught up by the usual T1 shenanigans and lost about a couple of positions but thanks to the drivers getting penalties here and there due to either track limit breaches, wall hits, etc. I was able to get into P2 quickly by lap 3 then I had to deal with the player in first where he gave me a hard time to pass but I was able to get through and pass him by lap 5 and I almost choked this race as in lap 6 I've gone wide on a corner which allowed the player behind me to catch up but I was able to rebuild my gap by the final lap and I was able to win once more for this race before ending my sessions for today. I did apologize to the driver afterwards for my overtake I did on lap 5 and he didn't seem to mind it as he enjoyed the race.

For me overall this race really gave me a checkup whether I'm able to tame the 2J and it took about some quali sessions and those three race sessions for me to understand more on how to drive the 2J. Also I don't think I can expect any clean races for Race A because of how tricky the 2J is to drive and some players not being used to how the 2J drives but that may be just me after what I've witnessed today in my sessions.

How do you even tame that beast?? I had a heck of a time trying to keep it on the track

Carefully.

Took me a while to get used to it... Gotta be really careful with your turning and throttle inputs. You can also get the car pointing where you want to go as quickly as possible before fully accelerating, unless if you have a lot of confidence with this death trap car.

Did 5 Cs at Watkins Glen in the WRX last night. I am terribly conflicted. The race is all about fuel saving and therefore kind of boring BUT because the GTR is quickest for a single lap, lots of people are running it in the race. This makes for an interesting experience as they tend to heavily fuel save at the end of the back straight and through the twisty bits which produces some great racing.

I expect eventually everyone will realize the GTR is not a good choice and we’ll end up with grids full of WRXs. For the time being I’ve had 4 wins and a 3rd (I started the first race on mediums because I ran out of time to change them in the warm up). So the winning helps with the enjoyment.

I love the Gr3 RBR combo.

However can someone answer a quick question for me?
I am between top c and low b, qualified in the low 1:31s. I am S SR, my whole lobbies last night was filled with B rated C SR drivers and im getting punted all over the place to the point where i just went off last night i couldnt be bothered.

Why am i S SR with C SR drivers?

Because there aren't enough active players to full your lobby with SR S drivers.

It's not a big playerbase right now, sadly.

Question, not just for Race B T1, actually more general:
how do you judge your braking point when you are going to pass on the inside?

Using the racing line braking point doesn't work because 1) you are closing the turn angle so cannot approach with the same speed 2) the procpective view make the braking point different

Is it just feeling? Do you try it when travelling alone to identify a different braking point?

I myself most of the times cannot complete the overtake becase I brake too much and give too much room at the apex/exit, resulting in overtake during cornering, and get passed back at exit

I’ve had the same issue lately too. Seem to get paired up with a lot off SR A-C players whilst I’m SR S.
Id rather be paired with other SR S drivers from other DR ranks in that situation, as I know you can get some faster drivers in lower ranks.

Makes you wonder if the cleaner drivers have decided to walk away from the game? Also with no GTWS series doesn’t help the player base either.

From my own experience: probably so. It's quite paradoxical. I want to race with clean drivers. To avoid losing SR and being relegated to lower SR lobbies, I mostly stay away from races at all at the moment.
Not a really satisfying solution.🤣

Yep, it’s what puts me off the game. I’m a clean racer, part of TCR which values clean and fair racing rated high B DR and S SR and constantly face idiots wanting to play bumper cars. It ruins the fun and point of sport mode.

What times are people getting at RBR? Finally dipped into the 1:28:xx last night in the NSX but want to push more to get a low 1:28. Struggling with the mid section the most.

So far my best time is a 28.5 in the GTR. I am not so sure about the 27s for me, but lower 28s is possible.

1:29:2 in the Alfa 4C, which is fun to drive around there. No idea if or how much faster I could go in one of the META cars. I'm not great at RBR, always mess up T2 or the infield (usually both😆).

Did a 1:28.5 after a few laps in the Mustang last night, could probably drop it into the 27s with another car but am not too fussed about it.

Best I’ve managed at RBR so far is a 1.29.9. I’m in the Dodge Viper because I’m a stupid idiot. The last race I was in last night was an all B lobby and I only qualified 10th. But my race pace was better than some of the guys in front. Worked my way to P4 and pulled away from the pack behind. Ended up chasing down P3 on the last lap but couldn’t get close enough to pass. Definitely need to find some more time in quali.

I have a 3 race limit. If I end up been involved in a crash or incident that wasn’t my fault in 3 races in a row I stop playing Sport for the that day.

I think most of us want to be clean racers, but recently when I have been mixed with these lower SRs drivers I can see why some of them have been given that rating.
Majority of the time these drivers are over driving trying to get the win hoping that will boost the DR/SR but in fact they end up getting involved in incidents that then stops them gaining that ratings. It’s knowing when to push and when to back out that some seem to not understand.

How can you mess up the slightest of kinks? Or should I not ask?

It can get pretty silly. During the recent Monza week I dropped down in SR to B because Monza and ended up in low rated lobbies, facing players who after making a mistake at Lesmo, would just not let me pass on the straight even though I was much faster. And this is not for the lead, this is for 9th and below. Jerking out in front of me after seemingly staying on the line so I could pass, some weaving around like mad, if I get alongside I'm pushed off into the grass...

Laughing at this and expecting it, I just backed off and let them have it if it means that much to them, they'll likely make a mistake later.

but you can imagine when they come up against each other in these circumstances, and neither are going to back off...

The exact instruction on how to get stuck in low SR forever and of course meaning your DR ain't going nowhere either.

Unbelievable. In just one Race B these very similar things happened:

- The NSX in front of me is very slow and I've been carrying it for 4 full laps, braking very early and staying at least 2 meters behind so I don't touch it. In lap 5, at corner#4 where there's the "sandpit", it goes wide on the kerb, slightly loses control making the tires spin. It is impossible for me to not touch it since I'm close behind and taking that very same turn. It's the momentum. As a result the NSX spins out completely and ends at the back of the pack.

- Lap 8, in the last sector between corner #9 and #10, a GTR comes at full speed on the inside behind me and overtakes me to exit on the straight line. I don't even touch it. It spins out on its own on the outside kerb (or grass, can't remember) after corner#10, the car is still NOT ghosted so I accidentally touch it. It ends at the back of the pack.

(Other than that, a car pushes me at the top of corner#3 and it gets a 2 seconds penalty for it. No other impacts or slight touches during the race. No corner cutting, nothing.

I go back to the Sport mode screen and I'm not in A-S anymore, I'm in A-A.
Did the system really punish me even though the NSX and GTR both lost control on their own and there was nothing I could do to not collide with them afterwards?
