i like WG so have been running this mostly...was a mid CS but due to some extremely bad punters ive dropped to mid DS...started 13th worked upto 8th on the first lap and then some muppet decides to punt me off ending up 15th and playing catch up...really struggling to get out of C and into B for some cleaner races...

Yes, three things are happening here. You're approaching the corner slower than normal, and are on cold tyres and (unlike in Qualifying) you have extra weight from a full gas tank. It isnt just you; I watch F1 and there is a Turn 1 incident in almost every race. Those are the best drivers in the world.

If you are starting top 4 you can break at the 100 board. If you're further back give yourself a little more room. I usually take that first corner at about 75/76 instead of 79 like I do with warm tyres.

Also, skip the trial and error phase. Watch a Track Guide video on YouTube. Tidgney posts his here every week. Mista_mca usually does Race C. Wombleleader does track guides, and I'm sure you can find 100 more if you dislike british accents.
Thanks for your replay, I'm usually in the 2/3 of the grid, will then look for somewhere around 125mt.

When I was talking abou trial and error I was referring specifically to that T1 at race start.
I do like Tidgney and Mistah, and use their guide to identify a starting point to my approach, finetuning it against my ability (or inability, actually :) )

There is still a huge difference between what I'd like to do and what I do. I may be willing to do what you are suggesting but I will do it plus-minus X%, where X depends on track familiarity and daily variability (meaning that some day I drive better than other days)

This itself applied to the first T1 of the race makes that X% amplified

Also Lap 1 is hard for me, given the crawd. If I don't nail T1, I feel myself in danger, and this do not help my racing lines and references.
All in all, I ruin myself most of my races in Lap 1

I finally started a second account, drove a few races on B without qualy of course, it's been fun :D And in just 6 races went from E/B to C/A.

Here is one race from last night :)

I just started a third account, only to practice some more crowded race "situations", which I honestly suck at. I drove 4 races B from the back, trying to get as clean through the pack as possible, avoiding punts and sideswipes, not messing any other drivers races up, to see how it goes. Which worked so far. I had one P8 in the first race, where I got hit a lot and had to adapt to the strange behaviour of some players, then one P3 and two P2 results (always one or two decently quick drivers too far ahead by the time I had climbed up through the pack).

Strangely though, my ratings haven't changed a bit. Still E/B. The DR progress bar hasn't moved even a pixel, still exactly in the middle where it started. No idea what that's about...🙄

I won't even complain, because this actually serves the purpose of that account even better, but I think something is wrong here.❓

Sorry, video was not published, now it's ok :)

I drove 7 races, won 4 of them, finished the rest in P2 or P3. All from the back. Literally one day and I jumped from E/B to C/A. Not one single race was with a clean bonus, because of the chaos which I tried to avoid as much as possible, as you can see in the video :)

I've driven over 1200 races, so I've definitely seen what you're talking about. It just seems to me that in this instance, the differences are more glaring than I've seen in the past. I hope that makes sense without me sounding like a jerk or whatever... :boggled:
I’ve had identical experience so far this week in the B lobbies.

1:54.xx is typically the fastest lap time. The guys with 1:53 qualy times are not doing that pace in the race.

I’m enjoying Race B this week. The races I’ve been in have been fun, relatively clean, good pace, and competitive. Did 4 races last night. 3 top 5’s and 1 11th place finish due to getting punted hard in the right turn after the penalty zone.

I experienced something very weird last night at Bathurst. At the end of lap 2 I ran a touch wide out of the Chase and got all 4 wheels on grass. Held onto the car, no barrier contact, but decided to pit. Knowing I had diry tyres I entered very conservatively and avoided any pit lane penalties. Changed to medium tyres and everything was perfectly normal and mundane. But then, on pit exit, when I took back control the car immediately turned left and slammed into the wall. I've done that exit about 20 times. It's not difficult and I've never, ever had any issues before that. And before anyone asks, no I didn't have the wheel turned left or anything else obviously stupid.

My only thought is whether entering with dirty tyres means you lose control on exit. Anyone seen anything similar?
When I was practicing my car hit the wall on the right at the exit, every single time while still under auto drive so there's something fishy about that exit

On another note. Yes, CRB apparently still exists. So it must be on me for not having more of them.

Every once in a while I'll start a race and for some reason the car seems like it's on ice. Nothing seems to work right. Next race will be back to normal as far as what I expect it to do at the start.
This occurrence was in GT Sport too. It was so shocking for me at the time, it carved into my brain. It was one of those GT Series races on Le Mans with me in Mazda 787B and it was standing start if I remember correctly. I couldn't negotiate that first long bend to the right with full gas and ended up in sand immediately. I don't think there's a car in whole GT catalogue that can't go flat out there. It still haunts me to this day.

I believe the first 5 (or 10?) races have a limit or something on how much SR/DR you can gain, and then once you pass that threshold you can start gaining normally again. Weird decision, not sure what the point of it is.

It takes 5 races to get out of E/B jail. Noticed it when I started my second account.

I am very disappointed in myself for not saving the replay. :grumpy:
@GOTMAXPOWER might have it. He was there, and he had a really fantastic race, so there's a chance he saved it. 🤞
I didn't save the replay but if you tell me it's an American lobby I'll happily believe that half of the cars finished upside down and on fire.

I know Cyrus saved one of the replays but that might've been the race after.

Thanks a lot guys! I did the sixth race on that account today #lunchbreakracing, and afterwards it jumped to DR D.

Don't know why people are persisting with the Alfa in Race B, it doesn't have the pace and they are basically moving chicanes on track.
I'm D/S with a qualifying lap of 1:55:090 in the Porsche GR.4 and I know I can get it into the 1:54 with a bit more practice. It's a great momentum car if you can keep it up in the corners and wow does it love the bus stop all the way through the second to last turn sector, rotates like a dream and definitely can carry higher corner speeds than the WRX/Alfa/GT-R can

Just got my first ever GT7 win. Race B. Started pole with a 1.54.7. Had a great race swapping P1 and P2 for the first 3 laps. Totally respectful and clean racing. Backed out a couple of times coming into the bus stop. Decided I needed to make a move so a good run out of the last corner a made a moce stick into T1. I'm absolutely buzzing as it was with the wheel as well!

Great job. Congratulations!

Just got a clean Q1/P1 for Daily Race A. I was in 3rd for part of the first lap, but I got back into first pretty early on and just ran away with it. Ended up over 3.3s ahead of P2.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I rented my car, so it didn’t have any aero parts installed.

A bit late, but here's one of my favorite moments from last week's Race B. I actually had quite a few good races and close battles, but this one this clip is captured from was probably the closest of them all.

I had a huge moment at the end of Conrod straight in the Huracan earlier, no idea how I managed to save it without anybody being taken out. I've uploaded the full race (minus the bits where I'm running on my own) because it was quite fun all the way through starting on the wrong tyres but if I've done the time stamp right it should start just at the 🙈💩 moment:

I tried bathurst on my secondary account. Rented the GT-R and set a 2:09 before the race started. I was way in the back so started on hards, planned to run those till lap 3-4 then swap to the mediums. Things were going great until I got up behind someone in the 84 Skyline. Fast enough to pull away on the straights but OMG is that car a dog going up and down the mountain. I lost 5 seconds to the lead pack following them for a lap.

Bailed into the pits, gained a few spots via attrition, and what do I find myself behind again? The SSS...

I get a good run on him coming into and out of Forrest's Elbow and pull away down Conrod.. for a bit. Into the Chase he pushes his nose where there isn't room running half way off the circuit to do so, which punts me into the gravel trap and I shut the PS5 down because what's the ****ing point any more.

We were fighting over 6th, over a minute behind the leaders, and he decides it's a good use of his time and energy to punt me across the circuit because he chose a ****** car.

Just had my first pole position at Watkins Glen this week, and boy did I hork up the first turn. From P1 to P4, eventually to P12, ended at P6. Could've been better, could've been worse.

The lobby was full of B/S drivers, but it was anything but a clean race. And who says PD doesn't penalize people for knocking someone off the track? (Yes, I know it's rare.)

Here's a 19 second clip of someone receiving a whopping 5 second penalty for sending someone off the track. Even though he hit the guy first, it almost looks like someone else actually took him out. But after closer inspection of the replay, I don't think anyone else hit him, so I think they penalized the right guy. But it was accidental in any case.

Nothing you do surprises me anymore.
