Would any of you have lifted off of the throttle in this situation? I never even considered it, as I didn't feel like I was in the wrong.
I do, however, regret contact with the blue car, afterwards. I didn't know he was coming.

Red had plenty of room, the rest of the track in fact, did that to themselves for no benefit at all. Bizarre.

I agree, and in fact would say that the blue car stuck his nose in there when he saw what was happening so you shouldn’t feel bad for him either.

Just had my first pole position at Watkins Glen this week, and boy did I hork up the first turn. From P1 to P4, eventually to P12, ended at P6. Could've been better, could've been worse.

The lobby was full of B/S drivers, but it was anything but a clean race. And who says PD doesn't penalize people for knocking someone off the track? (Yes, I know it's rare.)

Here's a 19 second clip of someone receiving a whopping 5 second penalty for sending someone off the track. Even though he hit the guy first, it almost looks like someone else actually took him out. But after closer inspection of the replay, I don't think anyone else hit him, so I think they penalized the right guy. But it was accidental in any case.

Hello Police? I'd like to report a murder

EDIT: @sturk0167 never lifting in that position. Red could have tried to take the outside there and have the inside for the next section of the esses. He clearly wanted to follow the guy in 4th up the esses for the tow but you were already there and he has no right to try to move you. That's your lane now even if he is a wheel well ahead of you.

The blue guy was unfortunate tho yeah

Im currently B/S but im struggling to keep it. One thing i noticed is if i drop to B/A i can get a 6-7 place in the grid and better chances to stay in B. Also, i cant keep up the pace, maybe cause i get nerveous, I also use a controller

Is there any way to check our progress in the DR bar, or its only the top half that gets points?

I had a huge moment at the end of Conrod straight in the Huracan earlier, no idea how I managed to save it without anybody being taken out. I've uploaded the full race (minus the bits where I'm running on my own) because it was quite fun all the way through starting on the wrong tyres but if I've done the time stamp right it should start just at the 🙈💩 moment:
Were you twerking your car?

Hard to say.
A part of me wants to say yes because the car was ahead for the corner. You weren't really head to head.
A part of me wants to say no because red was trying to force the inside (close your trajectory) all of the sudden while you were already there. I wonder if he knew you were next to him. Plus, selfishly speaking, by lifting off the throttle you would have lost a lot of time on that fast chicane uphill.

If he knew you were there, he should have kept the left side. For his own good.

I"m currently D/A. 1 Fastest Lap, 7 clean races. 94% car completion, taking the Mclaren F1 '94. Hours Tanking. 1 Silver Online Time trial GR4 Nissan. 3 Bronze, one of which was an Escudo. Pretty Easy. Have dropped to B, back to A somehow. May have been C.

There's no universe where Sturk needs to yield his actual vehicles position on the tarmac though.
Yes, Red is nominally ahead of Sturk there. No that doesn't entitle Red to occupy the same piece of roadway that Sturk currently occupies. Red had ample opportunity to stick to their side of the racing surface, where there was plenty of room.

Red didn't want to because Red wanted the slipstream up the hill. Too bad for Red get rekt.

Another 3 races for at Watkins Glen today. I jumped in the races so no time to improve my qualifying.

Race 1 has me a stacked lobby like yesterday and I'm riding shotgun on the field in P16. The opening lap has me make a pass on the exit of the bus stop with no contact and a spot gained. But it doesn't matter as I get taken out by a driver bouncing off of a wall on the bus stop exit and hitting the rear of my car. It's enough to kill my momentum and I eventually finish P12. I think I was going to make some good progress in the race. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Race 2 is in an all B lobby for a change, and a start of P9 this time. My race is over once either I come down on a driver in the apex of turn 8 or they tried to make a dive and I got hit and sent skidding off of the track. I'll never know as the replay didn't save. I showed an error message and said it did after I tried again. Anyway, I finish P12 with a clean race bonus somehow.

Race 3 is in mostly the same lobby with me in P11 to start. A much better race with me not being collateral damage for a change. The race was clean and I can't complain about that. I did get an off track due to a bad exit on turn 1 that but me behind enough where I couldn't catch P6 a few seconds behind in P7. Someone crashed on the final corner, quit, and I found myself in the cursed position of P6.

And that will be it for me this week. This was a really fun combo for even though I lost a ton of DR this week. But, I did gain a lot of experience by racing the higher ranked drivers so as I said it was worth the loss. I didn't have that many off track penalties this week which was great. The next time that Watkins Glen comes up as a daily race I'll be looking forward to it.

So I ended up making a GT Planet inspired version of the new clobber with some extra details and sim racing sponsors for the extra affect.

You can add it to your collection here https://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/gt7...c6-386806fa99c4/gallery/All/19703885058327742

Pretty pleased with how it turned out though I'd hesitate to claim it as art in any way

Managed to optimize the individual parts of the track a little more but have so far failed to do it all in a single lap. Optimal time was at 1:54:1xx. Still, not an easy track for me but I'm getting the hang of it.
Keep at it. I try a different car once in a while just to learn different inputs and sort of reset my brain. When I go back to my good car I usually do better.

Try the Audi TT, by the way. I’m killing my GT-R time with it after only two laps! I’m on a quest for 1:52 by the end of the week with it.

That's exactly what I do to. I like your phrase "resets my brain".

I've tried this car, and I want to like it. But I'm guessing you need to drive FF cars differently than 4WD, and I don't know what that difference is. Can you supply any tips? I mean, if you don't mind me challenging your QT.

I haven’t figured it out entirely. I know it likes to rotate a whole lot more than the Nissan so I don’t need to mash the breaks, which allows me to keep my speed through a corner. I can start accelerating pretty early as well to build off of that momentum. T1 is still a puzzle to me though.

I just did! And I improved my previous R35 QT. The problem is that the TT, compared to the R35, has more understeer in some corners and lap times are very inconsistent: if you miss a corner, you lose a lot of time.

So I've been hammering Bathurst this week, mostly after work 2am-5am slots and I have my little 'late night crew' of familiar faces (the B rated contingent filling up the grid are quite changeable, but evidently the EU night owls among the A/A+ drivers few and far between).

Peaked at a quali of 2.01.3x in my favourite AMG, which had been getting me mostly top 10 starts and most recently becoming involved in the horrible mid-pack battles we have all grown to fear.

So I decide to flip the script and try qualifying in the Nissan. I managed to shave off a whole second, putting me into the top 700. To say I'm proud is an understatement.

I'll keep using my Mercedes for the race, but I'm looking forward to giving the race a few more goes over the weekend to see what results I can get.

I've been enjoying the Lancer, it has the benefits of the GT-R but I feel it is a bit more nimble through the mountain and stable over the bumps. I've matched my AMG time in it so far but can't quite best it, I do feel it's in there though.

Might be worth a try for you, possible you could get even more time out of it than the Nissan.

So I have yet another question about DR. I started 9th, and ahead of me are all A/A+ except for one B.
Starting Grid.jpg

I finished where I started, 9th.
Ending Grid.jpg

I would have guessed I'd lose some DR from this. But I didn't - I actually gained around 3 percentage points.

How did I gain DR while finishing 9th, with a bunch of A and A+ drivers in front of me?

PS: See the BB Codes page for how to make spoilers.

If all the grid was B you would have lost a few points finishing 9th but since everyone ahead is above you, you don't lose DR to them, and gained it from at least 1 car who finished behind since they must have had a higher level than you.

Not very analytical I know but as a basic explanation.

When I get bored of my Michael Schumacher outfit I'm loading up this one. Great job. You have it #ed?

A higher DR takes less points from a lower DR - so basically you finishing behind a bunch of A/A+ drivers doesn't hurt you too much because the game expects them to beat you anyway.

No, that's a perfect explanation. I hadn't realized that if people are ahead of you (DR-wise), you don't lose points to them. Thanks!

Much apprciated, mate. Yep, it's just tagged gtplanet - I haven't actually looked at the tag, there's probably some better ones

But you do. The further ahead they are of you in terms of raw DR points, the less you lose, but you do lose points to them unless the difference is enormous.

For every car you finish in front of you gain:

80 - ((Player DR - Rival DR))/500)DR

For every car you finish behind, you lose:
80 + ((Player DR - Rival DR))/500)DR

As you can see, unless the difference is in excess of 39,500pt, you'll lose at least one point.
