Finally! On my 132nd Sport Mode attempt, that elusive first win had arrived. Mount Panorama is one of my favourite tracks and my pace is usually pretty decent. However, with the PS4 freeze glitch I've had since 1.26, I've been mostly staying away, but gave it 2 shots this morning. First attempt was Q4 to P2 with no glitch so I went again and went Q7 to P1, again with no glitches. Nice to get that out of the way, now I can only hope PD fix the bug.

Thought you's might enjoy this one. No context really, I had fallen this far back after messing up the bus stop, so we had no previous at all.

I'm in the white ferrari.

My man here presumably got very upset I took the inside line he tries to brake check me, then goes all out with a lunge to try and punt me and misses. Good laughs gained, thanks mate.

Tried out various cars in the Daily C TT this week, I did around 45 mins in 7 different cars (one each day) and here were my times:

Daily C Bathurst.png

The Jaguar was the one I actually used first so was surprised it held on to be my best time in the end, that said it was a very good lap by my standards, only really made one mistake at just before The Dipper, other than that I don't think I could do much better lap around Bathurst (in terms of nailing it). I'd say the Porsche lap was probably the worst, a decent amount of time left on the table on that lap. The Nissan was the quickest for me, I just didn't put the lap together (was hoping to sneak into the 58s with it). The Mustang lap was also slightly annoying because I messed up sector 2 and then proceeded to pull out a mega S3 but ah well. Out of those cars, the Porsche was probably the most fun and the SLS was the easiest to drive albeit not very quick.

Anyways here's my lap in the Jag:

The formula for the calculations is given a couple pages ago:

If you beat people who are equal to you, you’ll advance slower than if you beat an entire lobby of people who are better than you. Likewise, when you beat lower ranked drivers you’ll advance slower, and possibly even lose points.

The wins you mentioned in your examples seem to indicate that the drivers are beating all high ranked A and A+ drivers and advanced quickly. It’s also possible that they are alternate accounts for already accomplished drivers.
Wasn't aware of need to win X in a row to become A+ 🤔 I'm slowly filling in the progress bar (currently A rated) by trying my best to keep it clean and finishing top 5, or at least better than my starting position.

It's a slow process but it's happening 🙂

On an unrelated note, had a race with the 2nd account last night which made me angry/ happy same time 😂

Started P7 and was P6 right on P5 ass going into bus stop lap 2. He out-braked himself and lost control and hit me mid-chicane (accidental, it happens) but I ended up in the run off, with damage and down to P11. Managed to avoid the barrier by a few inches...

Kept my cool, drove patiently and fairly and finished P6 (+1 position) so happy with it 🙂 What I'm annoyed at is that collision, where I was collected by an out of control car, but cost me the clean race bonus! 🤐

PS @Leon Kowalski only had around 15 min today so far, managed to improve my time by exactly 0.001 seconds 😂 You're still ahead 🙂 Might have a go later!

There's no win requirement, I'm not really sure what they're talking about, or if there's just miscommunication.

Like Dredge said, it's just purely based on DR gain. Regardless of whether you win or come 5th every race, gaining DR will get you there eventually (winning will just usually give more DR as you're beating more people).

Yeah, as far as I know there’s no consecutive win requirement. My intended point was that that many wins in tough lobbies would account for the quick rise. Consecutive wins against high ranked drivers would make it raise that much faster, but isn’t necessary.

I keep getting put in lobbies with a bunch of A drivers ahead of me, like this (I'm 8th):

It makes me think there's not a lot of people playing right now (10am PT, or thereabouts).

But it also makes me wonder: If I wasn't SR S, I think I'd stand a better of ending up in a lobby where my QT would place me higher. I'm guessing there's a lot more players with non-S ratings, so I think it's likely.

The problem with being in lobbies like the one above is that if I make a mistake, I end up near last, and there's not much chance of improving my DR from there. If I were in the kinds of lobbies I was in yesterday, I'd be in the top 3 or 4 starting positions, which makes it a lot easier to score DR points.

So: Anyone want to volunteer to let me bash you around some, so I can lower my SR? Just kidding. Sort-of.

Most likely the SR you have is being prioritized over DR when match making mate. You've got a better SR than the average player of your DR level so it loves you up a notch

For what it’s worth here are the numbers from my main account.
Started GT7 A/S (carried over from GTS) the only thing that has changed is the progress bar has gone from like 20% to 60ish% 🍻

The good news is that even if you are starting mid-field, you won’t lose much DR. Plus you get to learn some racing tactics from some good drivers. Then when you get out in a lower lobby you’ll outrace most people.

But if you absolutely want to kill your SR, just quit the race after hitting a wall on lap 1. That tanked my SR earlier this week after one bad quit! Sheesh!
Now THIS is what I'm talking about!

This was one heck of a fun race! Ultimately I ended up dropping from P2 to P3, but it was because I got out-driven, not because I made a stupid mistake, so I can live with it for sure.

@Bullwinkle - DUDE - Don't tell me you're gonna leave it like this?!? :)

I haven’t been able to devote much time this weekend. I also can’t get anywhere near that time when I did try this morning. I just have to accept my fate, and that @Leon Kowalski will always keep his boot on my neck. . .

I know that quitting that early gives you the same DR drop as coming in Last would, but why does it impact SR?

Are you on PS4 or 5? I think the population for PS4 is quickly dwindling with PS5's become more available. This is causing a lot more mixed rating lobbies. A few days ago I was in a lobby with everything from A+ to C.

After only having time to run some laps through the first part of last week, i had the chance to race friday-Sunday in the early morning. It's not the most competitive time of day, i know, but that was probably good as i am a bit out of my league with both gr3 cars and race C (tire wear). I've always been a road car guy, but since PD ruined those races, i am forcing myself to do races i normally would not.

I used the mustang as i hate the way the gtr feels. Had a handful of races each morning, all with some really good close racing. Any problems i had were self inflicted.

I noticed after a couple races that i was wasting my mediums by running them first. I couldn't run fast enough to pass the leaders but was also holding back in some spots. Switching to starting on hards proved to be a wise choice. I also got a lot of seat time with gr3 and tire wear so hopefully i can keep doing these races and improving my skills in the faster cars.

I saved a bunch of replays to get clips from to share, but I'm not sure anyone would care. It's just good close racing, nothing exciting or special happens

Running B practice race lobby now and for the next hour or so if you want some practice time:)

Capt. Slow
Hey, hadn’t noticed this before, but did we do some races together the other day? Was that you? If so “friend” me so I know when we’re in the same lobby again. The race names all start to sound the same after a while and I lose track, but I never noticed the signature to your posts before.

Alsace reverse is the most unknown track for me. It's gonna take a while to adapt to those corners.

P.S. How long will we have to wait for a damn good Race B at Road Atlanta with Gr.3 cars?
Bets are open.
My guess is at least 6 months.

To say that yesterday was an up-and-down day is a massive understatement:

Details on how this information was obtained can be found here.

I did finally manage to get myself down to SR A for the last 2 races, which meant I got to start at P2, but by that time I had pretty-much lost any feel I had for the course, so it ended up being a wash.
Are you on PS4 or 5?
PS5. But if they are actually separated by PS type, then that does narrow down the field some.
