Going to miss Bathurst so much.

Last week combo was perfect to me and was the first week I could maintan a decent pace with a non META car. Also won a couple of races against known top split A+ drivers in american servers.

I dont see much interest in the options we have for this week but will give a try to daily C.

Just ran some QT laps for Daily Race B, and my initial impression is that this course is a blast! I'm not very familiar with Asace in either direction, so I have no preconceived expectations (aren't all expectations preconceived? Whatever...) Some fun altitude variations, which makes some of the turns quite challenging. It looks like there's lots of places to pass, although we're all going to hate Barry-R and his penalties, that's for sure.

Tried a handful of cars, but right now I like the Lancer Evolution Final. I was hoping the Citroen might work on this track, which would be fun, but it seems to slide a lot. The Beetle might be interesting too, we'll see.

Let us hear your impressions!

Never driven that Alpine before, but its an absolute treat to whip around that track in Race A.

Easily going to be my favourite for the week - though I'm headed off to my parents for the week so I'm not sure if I'll get much of a chance (and it'll be on PS4 if I do!).

Set a 59.8 (I think?) a few hours ago, which put me in the top 10 when I set it but I imagine it's dropped down a fair bit since.

I just drove about a dozen laps and haven't been able to fully figure it out yet. 1:00:6 so far. Your QT seems like witchcraft 🤯. My utmost respect!

Thank you! Road cars have always been my bread and butter in this game, something about the way they need to be flung around just clicks with me.

Biggest tip I found for myself was to stay in 3rd gear through the last corner. It feels tempting to go into 2nd but you lose too much time shifting up down the straight.

As with the GR4 TT as well, it's flat all the way down the hill until the final turn, but it's a lot harder to nail the line with less grip.

Same here. I just wished they would allow gaining some DR with them, at least from time to time. I got hooked on online racing by driving two handful of races with the Renault Clio in Tsukuba, climbing up quickly in DR rankings and finding it great fun, especially having the feeling that there is some reward for the progress.

To say that yesterday was an up-and-down day is a massive understatement:

Details on how this information was obtained can be found here.

I did finally manage to get myself down to SR A for the last 2 races, which meant I got to start at P2, but by that time I had pretty-much lost any feel I had for the course, so it ended up being a wash.

PS5. But if they are actually separated by PS type, then that does narrow down the field some.
Because of your elegant program to capture your race data, I took mine to the next level*. I tallied up the gains and losses for my 79 races in Race B. For the week I lost more places overall than I gained. Maybe this week I won't make this tally. :)
*I write down my results

Yeah Lancer is pretty fun here. Porsche might be as well. WRX not as much as the Lancer. Not quite as planted. I haven't tried what would be normal "meta" (GT-R or Merc) because with as twisty and low speed corners as Alsace has I'm concerned they're going to lose out in those areas.
That being said the only race I did today had a GT-R on Pole with a 1:54. I was 2nd with a 1:56:2xx or something like that. I know I can get into 1:55 easily, and 1:54, with the Lancer, isn't a stretch.

Are there any smoother cars to drive in GT7 than Gr.2, at least this NSX Honda? It's like on rails at Autopolis. No oversteer, no understeer, nothing. You do what you want. Gr.3 cars feel like drunkards after this.
Yeah, GR.1 cars :D
I haven't tried Autopolis yet, not a big fan of the circuit itself. Would almost rather go back to Kyoto like we did a while ago.

I like this race A. Short, sweet and mostly sideways. The grid start also helps make up for my useless qualification pace. Just wish more people would buy the car and have some variety in the liveries.

Following anyone in race C is understeer hell. Makes it so so hard to make a pass. I'm a fan of the circuit but with the filthy air when following its a terrible race so far.

Guess I need to put the work in on B for this week. Though I can already see the wall penalties are going to drive me insane.

Who do i have to boink at PD to see the Nordschleif in the daily races?
ikr?! Give us a 30 minute daily there using the full layout, not just the Nordschleife.
Would be about 4 laps though, which is probably the problem. Even using just the Nordschleife laps are about 6-7 minutes in GR.3, 7-8 minutes using GR.4. GR.2/1 are far too fast for the circuit

Idk, I'll pick this over GR1 in smoothness category 🙂 but maybe it's just my relief getting away from GR3 talking.

Anyway, I got 36.1 (3.3s off global top), first race, high B DR and what do you know - pole! Had huge advantage but German came storming in second half, didn't want too much trouble and took 2nd. Back to DR A baby 🤩

Looking forward to starting 13th every race 😄

I tried to run qualifying at Autopolis and yeah, loathe the circuit. Gonna be a Race B week for me. Which is great because I got my time down to a 1:54:5xx in the Porsche RSR 911. The Lancer probably has that pace in it but I wanted to see what a "built for GR.3" car would do that is known for handling. It's great. I might be able to squeak a 1:53 out of it, or might screw around with a different car and see if I can get even better handling. Might try the BRZ later tonight and see what kind of time that can set.

I do think that in top lobbies with A/A+ drivers the GT-R is going to be the right call but in lower lobbies if you've got the skills you can 100% make off-meta cars work really really well.

I really like Autopolis, didn’t realise it was unpopular.

Good first run in the 2016 Lexus. Was over a second quicker in practise than the NSX, find it much easier and safer to drive.

Big early pace splits - 7 secs between pole and last in my all B/S Euro split. Nice clean race in the misfield, no offs or bumps. No hope of ever winning but that’s ok, will be back for more.

Au contraire, personally I enjoy that these are DR/SR off. Still racing, but relaxed! And sometimes with music on in these particular ones.

I mean... in GTS it seemed to come around often. 2 lap races. What happened?

I’m probably gonna focus on Race B this week, I always seem to struggle with Autopolis (T1 is the absolute bane of my existence because I cannot for the life of me find the correct braking point in any car) and Gr.2 is kinda beyond my power level atm
Time for me to kiss my Safety Rating goodbye I guess

I'm in D/C DR lobbies on Race B and basically as long as you can survive through T3 there's really not a lot of contact with other drivers. At least in my experience.

I had far too much fun at Bathurst last week, here are my highlights:

This weeks dailies aren't doing much for me, I tried a couple of race C's this morning but hated everything about it, the input smoothing on controller dulls the cars so much they're nowhere near as enjoyable to drive as on the old game, the tyres wear so much you can't really push and even if you could the dirty air means you can't get close enough to make a move on anybody at a similar level.

Mais oui. I understand your point. Race A this week for example is a slaughterhouse, so it's better without DR/SR. I had some fun there today, including some... err... things that are not part of my usual driving style. I didn't start any of it, but some guys just got what they deserved...😇

That's why I said: sometimes. I'd like PD to - sometimes - give us a daily race B or C with road cars, including DR/SR implications. Gr4 or Gr3 could then for a change move to race A for a wild one. I would appreciate that because it would even out the challenge of moving up in DR for players like me who are better in road cars than in some race car categories. I personally am mediocre in Gr4 and totally suck in Gr3, so my ceiling will be high DR/B to low DR A like forever.

Of course that's not the end of the world, I'll have fun anyway. But road cars have always been such a focal point in GT (there are, how many, about 350 different road cars in GT7?), so I find it a bit disappointing that racing them is more or less meaningless in Sports mode.

That's the most impressive, fearless and entertaining driving I've ever seen in GT7. I mean, everybody knows the save at the Chase by now, but the part between 1:50 and 2:18 clearly belongs into the Gran Turismo Hall of Fame. 😆

We're not allowed to post names and bad-mouth people here. I've gotten on the bad side of the moderators too many times recently (for other reasons) to risk getting in trouble over this moron.

How do you report someone for their chat messages?
Glad I found that out here. I'll go at it verbally with anyone who opens their mouth to me, doesn't matter if it's online players, moderators, people in real life, etc. However, if I'm in the wrong, I'll be the first to admit it too, and if I ram you by accident, I'll pull over until you're back on track and ahead of me, even if it ruins my race.
I also changed my usual online screen name to a closer match to the game's AI drivers. People who know me in real life will figure out quickly who I am, others won't. I did that to make the leaderboard in offline races look smoother, in online, though, it seems to be a neutral screen name that no one hates. Yet, lol.

The braking zones on Alsace are wrong. It's best run with assists off.

I like showing off a custom livery on an expensive car, it's kinda like bragging I own a 18 million glob of polygons and you don't! 🤪

If you saw the Loctite Zexel GT-R yesterday at Bathurst, it may have been me. My last race I started with RH tires and pitted after lap 1. This gave me open road on RM tires for most of the race. Up to the halfway mark I was trailing badly, then everyone began to pit. I passed a few there, too, and challenged 4th and 5th place directly. One spun in the '84 Skyline, I t boned the ghost, and I saw him rage quit in the rearview at 88 miles per hour. I knew some of the drivers weren't going to pit at all, so as long as I stayed with 1 minute of them I was good. 3rd didn't pit, so that's where I wound up for the first time since Le Mans.
I noticed TONS of people rage quitting. Until recently I didn't know this affected both DR and SR. I realized even though I was getting hammered at the outset, if I stayed in the race, I'd get credit for beating everyone who quit. We might start with a full grid and wind up with three left... 1st and 2nd waiting patiently while I straggled up like Herbie with the wagon wheel on him! If we ever run Volkswagens at Grand Valley, I will do my best to pass someone on a tunnel roof.

That would be cool. Go to a track/car combination PD would know to be chaotic and make that Race A for the week. Maybe GR.1 at the Nord, or GR.3 at Broadbean, or just weird stuff.

I'm not sure I'm going to compete this week. I'm so-so at Autopolis. I mean, I have the gold CE and I love the Super GT cars but I'm not great at the track and everyone is complaining about dirty air... it just doesnt seem worth possibly losing a bunch of points when I'm so close to A.

Alsace reverse is actually quite fun. The GTR is always in the wrong gear and slides on nearly every corner. I currently have a 1.52.357 in the 911 RSR but I like the Atenza better. It is always in the right gear and very stable on exit. If I can get to a 1.51.9 in the Atenza I might try a few races. IDK

That part is a lot less impressive if you know what the section in the middle looked like, lets just say the first attempt at spinning it around was not successful! 😂

Thanks for the sub, be ready to be disappointed!

a perfect week for a “DR? don’t care” backup account
