update: I have tried the V12 Vantage and can confirm it's fun to drive. If I spent hours with it I might get faster than my BRZ time. That being said, gave the Supra a shot and immediately cut .300 off of my qualifying time. Not enough to say "hey this is better" but enough to keep playing with and I was consistently as fast or slightly faster than my BRZ time. Will be testing the WRX and Lancer this evening/weekend for one last blast to see if I can get to 1:52
@GrumpyOldMan I'm coming for you old man!
Just set a 1:52:5ish in the WRX, a full second faster than my fastest BRZ or Supra time. With more practice with the car in the first sector I think I can hit a 1:51 no problem.

I actually saw that and gave out a cheer for you!

Now if I can figure out how to lower my SR, I'll be happy. I just ran a race where I didn't come close to touching anyone (I let someone pass on purpose), and the only thing I did was run off into the grass a little. No penalty, no spinout, nothing. Still no CRB. What do they want, my firstborn child? Good luck with that!!!

Anyway, feel free to beat my times anytime you can. If you're man enough, that is. :D

Yeah raising your SR to A is going to be tricky if you're still fighting for positions. Super easy when you're in the back lol
I'll give it another go this evening, had to take a break to make dinner and whatnot. But it's friday night and after kiddo goes to bed my plan is grinding qualifying for that last second.

Managed to drag my time for B down to a 1:50.459, which is fairly decent. I think there was a couple tenths in that lap and certainly with my home setup I could push for a 49 but I won't lose too much sleep over it! I was using the M6, which is fast but very squirrelly.

I'll take what I can get, though chasing the 49 will be awfully tempting... maybe some sleep will be lost after all.

Everyone, sing along with me: "We are the champions. my friends!"

And I did it with a win!

I honestly never thought I'd never be good enough make DR A. And honestly, I don't care what happens from here - if I drop back, that's fine with me. I just want to be able to say that I did it. And now I can!

Don't forget, this is someone who drives with these assists on:
  • TCS: 1
  • ABS: Default
  • Driving Line assistance: All (I ignore it a lot, but it's on)
  • Braking Area: On (to wake me up from an ADD-induced space-out)
  • ASM: On
  • CA: Strong
Yeah raising your SR to A is going to be tricky if you're still fighting for positions.
Not so bad when you're pole position, and you let the guy behind you go ahead. I just kept a comfortable distance behind him, and there wasn't any pressure from behind. He lost it a couple of times on the last couple of laps, but I just slowed down and waited for him to continue. I'm sure he was wondering what this idiot behind him was doing. Finally, he lost it before the final set of turns and got a 1.5 second penalty. So I decided I could zip by him while he was serving the penalty, and take the win. He almost caught me on that last turn, and I was afraid he might hit me. But he didn't, and I took the flag.

And DR A, baby!!!

Super GT had a video today of him chasing the 1:49. Managed to get there in the GT-R, couldn't quite do it in the M6. Maybe you can!

Old man advantage - having to pee in the middle of the night and so deciding to hop on for a race works quite well.

Only my 4th win in 167 races across both accounts, and first at B level (even though that was nowhere near a full field, a few Bs and an A amongst the mostly lower ranks).

ugh even starting in front isn't enough to dodge the bombers. Fortunately the WRX accelerates from 30-130 quicker than pretty much everything else on the grid so the T1 bomb doesn't come all that often, mostly when I mess up my braking for T1 or get a slow exit from it. If I can pull away from the GT-R that is always behind me going up the hill from T2 I'm basically home free IF I can also get T4 correct. String those two together and I can pull away pretty easily for my lobbies.

collected a few more wins tonight, working my way up to B DR again. Probs not going to get my time into the 1:51s tho, just don't have the time to grind it. Consistently in the 1:52 in qualifying and 1:53 race pace so that's cool.

Tried to do some practice lobbies for GR.4 at Road Atlanta. Gonna be tricky and I might just have to wait till Monday evening and grind qualifying to get the feel for the circuit.

@Leon Kowalski

What the hell?! I really thought you were a human but this week has me doubting my previous analysis 🤣

1 second ahead of me and I won't lie, drove 200 miles today using 5 different cars and can't get close to you! Well done!!

I know you're an alien now but it's ok, your secret safe with me 🤪👽🛸
Actually, I'm not an alien. There's a guy named Bob who's much faster than me. So he is the alien. And apparently he's your uncle. That means you are an alien, too. Don't deny it, you delivered the evidence yourself. Just call me Sherlock.🤣🤣🤣

Seriously, there is a great difference between my qualifying self and my racing self. I still make way too many nervous mistakes in the actual races. Right this week, I've started a handful races A on pole. I've thrown away every single one of them (some podiums, yes). Still loads of fun, though.

Congratulations! 🥳🥳🥳

BTW that could have been almost exactly my words. I wrote some very similar lines when I first reached DR A.

Well, since then I've been *****ing my pants about probably losing my DR A rating in every single race.😬 Don't do the same, okay? Just enjoy...😆

The weight transfer on the WRX is going to be a killer at RA next week. I just can't get to grips with it under hard breaking.

It can feel like a fridge on shopping trolley wheels under braking for sure, that entry into Turn 1 at Daytona a couple of weeks back was a roll of the dice in the WRX.

Love that analogy. Perfect description. That chicane on the crest of the hill is gonna catch many out if running the WRX.

I'll make the usual complaint about gr4 and PD doing nothing.
Next week should be great. Nice track. Usually promotes close racing.
There are 32 eligible cars to use. As shown by the comments here, no one even considers anything outside the usual 3 if they want to compete. At least in the GTWS races there is a bit more variety. If you don't like or are bored by those cars, what's the point in turning up? Just nerf them already and make things a bit more interesting.

Ok, moan over, I'll go and take my P1 for a practice spin around Monza. At least that race is actually designed to be a one-make.

Yeah, but here's the other side of that coin. Suddenly having to pee just before the race starts, but leaving the lobby will cost DR. (Fortunately, once the race starts, I forget about my bladder.)

I'm gonna try the car this morning. Believe it or not, I never tried it for this race.

Join the crowd! I've gotten much better about throwing away races from just being nervous on pole, but I'm not immune to it at all. By the way, sometimes it helps to let P2 go ahead of you, and then you can chase him. You may unnerve him enough that he messes up and you get the win easily. It sure is fun to watch the other guy sweat!
Congratulations! 🥳🥳🥳

Thanks! Great minds think alike.

I promise to just enjoy. You have my permission - no, my plea, to remind me I said this when I forget and start complaining.

Ok so the gearing is short, kinda similar to the Aston tbh. The longest legs of the car are in 5th and 6th and I almost never shift into 6th because even on the long acceleration zone before the last corner I'm hitting about 155-158 which is about the peak rev range in 5th so I don't really bother shifting up to 6th.

Have fun!

@GrumpyOldMan I don't know how you use this G pro DD wheel. The wheel itself is fine, the brake makes me SUPER slow. It feels worse than the g29 brake honestly. You also have to stop on it HARD to get full brakes. I'm 10 seconds a lap slower than I normally am. Going to take quite a while for me to get into the grove with this new setup. Someday I will join you in A DR :P

I did get the TF and FFB settings all good today though. Have it set at 8nm for all force settings and 20 on the audio which is also the engine rumble stuff through the wheel. 8nm seems to be a sweet spot for good detail but I'm not arm wrestling it heh. I will say, after using TF, and then turning it off, there is no way I can play without TF anymore. It feels SO WEIRD without TF after you use it even once. I get turning it down, but I can't imagine playing without it.

Love your analysis and case study 🤣 But it shows the difference between you and me. I'm a half cast alien, so only managed to improve by 6 tenths and since you're a pure ET, I'm still 4 tenths behind you 👽🤣 Time only good enough for P11 right now. Started and finished same place...

Here's the changes and settings I use. Maybe one or more will help - I think #1 and #3 (Brake Force) are probably the ones that'll help you with braking the most.

1) I changed those colored spacer things (I can't remember what they're called) to the ones that are the least stiff.

2) In GT7 I went to the Options->Controllers page, and in the Steering Controller Settings I changed the Brake calibration Minimum to around 4% in case I left my foot on the pedal a little. I thought I brought the Maximum down some, but it's currently showing 100% so I guess I didn't.

3) In the wheel itself, my Brake Force is 25. My TF TRQ is 4.3.

4) Back in GT7, when you go to do a Qualifier, there's the "Settings" button. At the bottom are the Steering Force Feedback settings. I currently have both set to 2, so my arms don't get tired. Setting them higher is more realistic.

I hope that helps!

I had absolutely no idea that's where the force feedback settings were! What did you have your brake calibration set at when you had the set previously? I think I'm running it at 80% travel is 100% braking. Which seems to be working for me. Should I experiment with that?

I honestly don't remember what I set mine at. I'm not even sure I knew about the calibration until I got the new pedals and wheel. But as with most things, you should do what works for you. With the new pedals, once I figured out something that works, I haven't changed anything.

Sometimes I'll watch a replay to see what the game thinks my braking is at, compared to what I thought I was doing. I do that mostly during QT, when I mess up a turn and don't know why. Sometimes I discover that I'm getting lackadaisical with my braking. (Thank God for spell check.)

@GaugeForever Don't forget there's a thread on this forum dedicated to the G Pro Wheel and Pedals: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/logitech-g-pro-racing-wheel.412554, There's a guy from Logitech who's very responsive, and he's one of the best support people I've ever worked with. After you skip through the opening posts where nobody has their hands on the hardware yet, there's a ton of great information there.

I looked them up, they're set to 7 each which feels pretty good to me. Good enough that I managed to set a 1:51:989 using the RSR!
That's a full half second faster than my best time with the WRX and only 16 hundredths behind you! If I pass you you've got to say "I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids"!

Racing with @Bullwinkle, a guy pitted me during the race, causing me to finish last. I asked him why:

Since he wanted me to check the replay, let's do just that, shall we??? 1 minute video (very minor profanity):

Yeah, I hate to break it to you, but as soon as I saw your time, which I applauded by the way, on my very next Q lap, I set 1:51.354 which was almost a half second better than my previous high. In the RC F, btw.

I swear, as soon as I saw your time, I thought "I can do better than that", and then I did! It was one of the few times for a QT that I've raised my arm and punch the sky with a whoop and a grin!

Man that is high on those numbers. I have the Thrustmaster 300 and I'm 4 & 2 , any more than that and I'm
fighting with the wheel to hang on.
