@Nenkai posted the next weeks races.

Going to be an awesome week!

Took the current week off the dailies because those are terrible combos to me.
Agree with you that the next one should be awesome.

Race B promises some close racing as we saw on manufacturers last week and Race C brings some strategy and no need of fuel saving wihch its great.
On the ohter side, race A should be massive carnage

Probably one of the best weeks we've seen yet to be honest. 3 solid races, mandatory stop in C so it's not a fuel saver - and good choices for A and B.

Only downside is we're back on the hards for B, but that's not a big deal considering its gr.4. Good stuff!

Hype for GR.4 at Road Atlanta, should be some really good racing. I do expect GT-R, Alfa, and WRX to dominate. Alfa is going to be strongest through the twisty bits but there's more than enough long straights for the GT-R to stretch it's legs. The WRX is going to be the middle ground between the two.

I even try to slip stream my ghost.....
This is a hilarious, because I was going to mention this also, but thought I was already making myself look like a moron. Good to know there's other morons out there too.
I always have my ghost run half a second ahead, so in almost every qualifying or TT I have that moment of recognition: "what the **** are you doing, bonehead?"🤣

I was going to say the same thing! I swerve to avoid contact with my ghost, cursing the idiot in front of me the whole time!
:dunce:

Last week's Manu was a fuel saver. This week's B will be the usual 3 suspects.
I have grow to hate anything Gr 4 related, the stupid OP 4wd means one makes and everyone driving in the exact same manner to be as quickly as possible. And that's the main reason that Gr 4 races are so incredibly dirty. The only way to advance is if the one ahead makes a mistake. Or if it doesn't happen, force it by sticking the nose where it doesn't belong, or dive bombing, or the sneaky tap to the rear quarter at the start of braking.
It's a class that ultimately promote dirty driving and lack of sportsmanship.

So until PD sorts the BoP (likely never) I stay out of Gr 4 races all toghter. I used to love gr 4 in GTS.
Now I hate it enough to stay away from even my favourite tracks.

I don't see any reason why passing with an AWD car should be any different to any other car, same principles apply. The issue is the Alfa makes it's time differently to the other two cars so guys are launching into a corner not realising the WRX and Nissan cannot enter at that speed.

TBH we see this a bit in Group 3 where the GTR has excellent turn in, the Supra is much stronger on exit (the GTR gets squirrely) so the GTR guys enter too fast and hit the Supra's who are lining up for the big exit.

It's not because it's 4wd, it's because it's almost always a one make and no one seems to understand that other cars can't drive in the same specific way.

MX-5 was also one make.
I think what causes the most issues is what Neville said, Alfa makes their time on corner entry and exit, GT-R makes their time on straights, and WRX makes their time on GT-R via corners and on the Alfa via straights.

So so close...

I'm more worried about getting the SR to A, but I bet I'm close.

Changing the subject, I have grown to love the V12 Vantage for Daily Race B:

I'm talking about actually using it in the race. I haven't beaten my best QT with it yet, although I've gotten close. But where it really shines, for me personally, is during an actual race.

It's got fantastic brakes. This makes it much more forgiving for people like me, who struggle to hit the braking points each and every time. One mistake doesn't lose you into the grass. I mean, it can of course, but if you realize you're coming in hot, you've got a great chance of slowing down quick enough to save the turn. I can't emphasize this enough - very forgiving, which for me is a must during a race. And it eats up the first corner.

It's plenty fast. You won't ever feel like everyone else has the fast car, and you picked a clunker. It'll gain on many cars right at the start. Sometimes enough to get side-by-side for the first turn, although I always back off at the last second. Still, it unnerves some people enough to cause them to lose it. And it's fast through the entire gear range.

The gearing is spot-on for this course, for me. I think the term is "shorter gearing", but I'm not positive. There are some turns on the back where I can come into them in 2nd, and have no problem upshifting to 3rd and stomping on it when I reach the apex. With other cars, I struggled to come in fast enough in 2nd (without overshooting the turn) so the switch to 3rd actually helped. Not with this car - it's Goldilocks ("just right").

The engine sound is awesome! Don't discount this - it's a subliminal thing. You know the last hairpin before the finish? When I have someone on my tail at that corner, once I'm around it and standing on the gas, the sound makes me say "Take THAT, sucker!" to the guy behind me. Of course, if he catches up, then it's not quite so much fun. But I'm telling you, the sound is like the sound you'd make when describing a fast car going by. I'm not saying that deep throaty engine sounds don't turn me on - they do. But something about this sound just encourages me.

I mentioned forgiving, but it's worth mentioning it again. If I get caught up in a dust-off, I can recover and get back into it very quickly. I'm usually trying too hard at this point, but the great brakes save me when I get too aggressive.

That's my opinion, and YYMV. But as soon as I started using it, my DR started rocketing up. Knock on wood, of course. (FYI: I use TCS 1)

FINE I WILL GO DRIVE IT RIGHT NOW JEEBUS CRISPS

So are you saying the '16 is what you liked? Better than the '17?
Getting back to your question I have tried the '17 now:

After 10 laps, I would have said that it drives the same as the '16 prototype. Feels maybe a bit less heavy, but that might have just been a momentary perception.

After 25 laps, though, I've been faster with it. 1:51:0, and still left some meat on the bone. Really a good car for that track. At least for qualifying. Actual racing, don't know, I've forgotten how to do that...😆

I used to follow my ghost in qualifying but found it to be more of a hindrance than help. Let me explain. My ghost would always be in the way of being able to see the apex clearly as I couldn't tell which car was mine. Now this may be because I use chase cam and it may not affect other camera views. But just the fact it was there would distract me.

Now I just rely on the delta timing to determine where I'm gaining or losing time. Driving like this without the ghost has really helped me to become faster. Once I determine I've reached my limit than I'll follow a leaderboard ghost. This allows me to be more aggressive and make up that little bit of time I'm missing as I know that ghost isn't going to be in my way. :D And I'll now be close enough to learn the best way to drive the track. I know to method has definitely helped me and hopefully it may help some others.

I also ran the Lexus before. Then I bought the Hyundai GT3. And knocked.5 of my time.

Still slower than you guys but I just thought I would mention it.

update: I have tried the V12 Vantage and can confirm it's fun to drive. If I spent hours with it I might get faster than my BRZ time. That being said, gave the Supra a shot and immediately cut .300 off of my qualifying time. Not enough to say "hey this is better" but enough to keep playing with and I was consistently as fast or slightly faster than my BRZ time. Will be testing the WRX and Lancer this evening/weekend for one last blast to see if I can get to 1:52

I have a button configured on my steering wheel that makes it easy to turn the ghost on and off. You have to turn it on in the settings first, but then you can turn it on and off during qualifying. It's a button right next to where my thumb usually is on the wheel, so I don't have to even think about where it is. So I just check it periodically during a lap. Otherwise, like you said, it can get in the way.

Well, it’s bad enough that I have to start race B in the middle of the turn, but to not give me control of the car when the race starts?! That’s a bit more challenge than I need. My car just drifted right off the track before I could get control, but only after the entire field was on the horizon! Sheesh! Do better, PD!

I quit using my ghost for this same reason. Plus, that driver is clearly an idiot. I don’t want to follow him anyway.

Do we know from previous races if DRS is enabled? Will have to remap my controls if it’s turned on for the P1.

Going to take me a while to get the hang of this one. I'm well off the pace, although I think my current "setup" is hampering me, the combination of a PS4 controller and using a big ole TV instead of a monitor is wreaking havoc with my brain. My senses and muscle memory are all out of wack.

tore my hamstring and had to go back to PS4 controller after a year on the T300RS-really struggling at getting as smooth as the rig, manual trans impossible to negotiate and at least 3 seconds off my previous times,so big thumbs up to those aliens out there on controllers.

Same here. Well, almost, as I use a controller. After I found out that I really don't use the handbrake in circuit racing that much (well, that was difficult to realise, right?😆), I swapped the function of the circle button for the ghost on/off.
I drive in roof/bonnet cam, so sometimes when I'm gaining on my ghost, it tends to obstruct my view and I have to switch it off. Especially when the ghost is a 911 RSR or the Aston Martin, which are both fat a** with a massive wing as wide as a bar counter.🤣

Episode 1,000,000 of GT7 dirty drivers going unpunished.

Our subject today is Mr Red Alpine in P8. Note their preset lobby message (I didn’t until I checked the recording). No personal history here or bad blood from previous rounds, this was my first race since Wednesday.

Rated S for sportsmanship!

(My spidey senses must have been tingling to switch to rear view down the straight.)

That went on for the whole 6 laps.

@Leon Kowalski

What the hell?! I really thought you were a human but this week has me doubting my previous analysis 🤣

1 second ahead of me and I won't lie, drove 200 miles today using 5 different cars and can't get close to you! Well done!!

I know you're an alien now but it's ok, your secret safe with me 🤪👽🛸

OK, now I have a couple of issues. My DR is high enough for an "A", but it's staying at "B" because I still haven't gotten my SR down to A. So this issue will be resolved if I can get a few clean races under my belt. I missed a CRB in my last race by just barely touching the bumper of the car in front of me on turn 2-3. And I mean just barely. He probably didn't even feel it.

Issue 2 is much different. This is what the screen shows:
1673649932282.png

I'm reasonably sure the progress bar is actually my progress into DR A - I highly doubt they dropped me back to the start of DR B.

Unfortunately this is wreaking havoc with my program that determines what my DR progress is:

Details on how this information was obtained can be found here.

I know most, if not all of you don't really care about this. But these are the kinds of things programmers have to deal with all the time. So just remember that nothing is as easy as it might seem, and sometimes, just maybe, the PD developers deserve to be cut some slack. But only sometimes - you get to choose which times.
