Any idea which race you’re doing next week? I think Atlanta with Gr4 is going to be a 4WD punt fest, so I’m going with Nurburgring. That’s the first track where I found some success in online racing, and I’m looking forward to an actual strategy that isn’t fuel-saving.

I’d like to do both races, but I’m at the level now where I can’t really dabble at both without tanking. So I feel like I need to focus all my time on one race. Plus the more laps on Race C will help pad my SR (if all goes well).
I think the top splits are going to be GT-R/Alfa dominated, probs GT-R. I think lower splits (think C and B DR) you can be vv competitive in the Mustang, Aston, Jag, and McLaren. It is challenging to get the Alfa/WRX to corner properly and the FR/MR cars rotate pretty well as long as you can keep it on the tarmac. They also have better top speed than the 4WD excluding GT-R

These were the best laptimes for each car in the Nations race we did at Atlanta the other week, I can't imagine it will be any different for the daily.

I'm sad the Huracan is the slowest of the 4WD's now, and the Viper and Genesis are so slow overall! Those three (plus the GT-R and WRX) were my cars of choice back in Sport days.

Sure the FWD's used to be the Meta cars in gtsport and now they are about average. But just by the times on your post it's mad that there is about 3 sec's gap between fastest and slowest. The 4C is a good car but think lacks HP.
Shame PD can't get the cars to be much closer together.

As someone who doesn't look at sheets and just tries different cars, I can confirm... Went in qualifying with the GTR and got a 126.3xx in about 15 laps and a bit more (not much) in it. Took the WRX next and got 1.25.914 in second lap. Happy with that as a low B driver :-)

I seriously don't understand how any of the top times do sector 1 of Road Atlanta.

They just drive over the grass and turn in like they're on tarmac - I try and do that and just get jostled around to my death. I'm losing like half a second just on the turn to the first straight because I can't match the offroad line, it's crazy. Those track limits are completely busted.

I'll quote you what I said to @hollowkatt (no problem that you didn't read it, although I'm disappointed you don't read every word I post. )
I only ever do Race B. Race A with no DR/SR doesn't appeal to me. Race C is too long for my attention span. I know the offline money grinds are long too, but I can pause them in the middle. I don't know why PD won't let me pause an online race.
And come on, that last part was funny right there - I don't care who you are.

I'm not sure this answers your question, but I had a thought. It seems to me that all that chart tells us for sure is that the best drivers drive the WRX the fastest, at least in qualifying. But that leads me to 2 ideas:

1) But that doesn't mean ordinary mortal driers like us can do the same. So it may be that the Alfa or some other car will be the go-to for non-alien drivers. Time will tell.

2) A car might be good for qualifying, but might not be as good when you have to react to other drivers. You might need a car with better brakes, or better acceleration at slower speeds, or better cornering under certain situations... If it could be a tank and not get knocked off the track, that might help too. ;p

Anyway, just some thoughts.

Havent watched any replays, but are they cutting?

It's the exact same line as the RBX2019 TT, there's about a pixel of wheel on the kerb, imo nowhere near enough for it to be valid limits.

There's tons of other places on the track where going all four on the kerb or even half off with penalise you, it's nonsensical.

That was a funny line. I did read it, as I read everything in this forum. The problem is I don’t remember much of it! I like to blame the cancer medication I take, but that’s a fake excuse: I never remembered anything before the medication either! 🤡

Gonna give the p1 race a try it'll be my first time playing gt online.

Any advance as I'll be pretty nervous.:nervous:
That’s a good race to start with because you won’t gain or lose any driver rating or safety rating. What I did the first time I raced was to not bother qualifying so that I started at the back and didn’t have to worry about other drivers until I was ready. If you feel the need to qualify beforehand to gain familiarity with the circuit, then pull over at the start and let everyone by and then continue on without the stress. Pretty soon you’ll find yourself wanting to compete!

Most importantly, just have fun!

i did 24.8 without using the grass. 0.5 was there if i use it and yes i'll use it for quali lap
About the same as me, I'm not sure if I'm running a 24.7 or .8 off the top of my head.

I wanted to try and use the grass on entry but honestly it completely throws my car off; there's no chance I can do it. I'll try on wheel and Dualsense when I get home on Wednesday though, there's a good chance my unfamiliarity with the PS4 controller might be hindering my control.

I am surprised at the surprise of the pace of the WRX at Road Atlanta, the track is custom made for it. The Nissan can't pivot like the WRX and the Alfa is down on power so it was always gonna be the WRX.

You're at 24:7, I'm just looking at the rankings. For me, it's a 25:1 so far in the Alfa. As soon as I touch the grass, it's gone - or I get a penalty. PS4 controller, I really wish I had a wheel just for that d@mn first sector...
But I won't stop until I'm below 25. And I'm not touching the WRX for that.

Oh ****, what have I just said?😬😆

Edit: Oops, I just did it. 1:24:989. That will do for the week.

Let us know how it went, or how it’s going. I’ve just done three now and it’s exactly what I had envisioned in my mind. Quite the carnage, a combo of the track and T1 of course and the car which for many is a bit of a handful, that much is already very clear.

I slow down/stop in the start and let all other 11 cars go into T1 on their own and pick up positions on every lap after that, doing my utmost to avoid contact, predict people’s mistakes. 2nd, 2nd, 1st so far.

I had won a race at Race A at the 23:00 slot last night. I have then realized this is the fastest of the three daily races in this week's schedule.

I'm not a native english speaker. Always a perfect excuse.😆

Is in that case "a" instead of "@" allowed? I'm asking for a friend, of course...😇
