So far, I am terribly disappointed with this weeks daily races. I still have PTSD from Monza's CoD, so I'm not touching that. Race C is a bunch of almost getting going, then stopping for a turn, then almost getting going, then stopping for a turn, makes me motion sick, and it's too many laps to keep my focus.
Which brings me to race B, for which I had hope. But after getting to use Gr.3 cars on RMs last week on a track designed for speed, they give us Gr.4s on RHs on a track that says "Speed? Try the straight on the back of the track - you can crawl along in a straight line while you wait for your pathetically underpowered car to try to reach top end, while I run the Zamboni to ice the rest of the track." It feels like riding a bike with training wheels on ice compared to last week, where the cars actually went "zoom zoom".
Add to that the fact that I totally suck on this track, and I don't have a lot of incentive to get better because experiencing track limit penalties on every corner where I try to find a faster line, then restarting and trying again is like Groundhog Day - "When is this day ever going to end?"
I hope I change my mind later on - it's happened before. But right now, I'm living up to my name. Hurumph.
You already said it yourself in a previous post: maybe you should try a different car. I'd recommend the Alfa. Yes, it feels a bit like a rhino on roller skates at first, but it is actually more forgiving than some other cars, so you're able to correct mistakes and stay on the track. And it has good brakes. Braking a bit earlier that I would have normally done, and then accelerating earlier, is what worked for me.
And also, this combo might need some extra patience (read: practice laps) until you've figured it out. At least that was my approach.
Concerning the actual races, I had some very different experiences today:
Four races from the back on my practice account, DR C / SR B-C lobbies, to find out where to overtake and how to navigate this track in traffic: complete ****show. Not a single driver accepted being overtaken, not even once. When I had a run and was passing someone on one of the straights, I got sideswiped off track. The worst offender hammered the side of my car five times in less than 3 seconds, until I finally landed in the barrier - as did he. When I overtook drivers in a braking zone (cleanly), they bombed me in the next braking zone. That happened several times. Only exception was a spaniard, which I met far behind the pack in one race, and we had a good battle (for P12!) in the final three laps.
Then three races on my second account, B/S lobbies with some DR A drivers, half-decent quali time, and three great, clean and fair races. P3, P2, P1. Even the A drivers, which I had often found to be over-aggressive in these mixed lobbies, drove fair and cleanly (at least as far as I can tell, they were all some seconds behind me
)
