My Race B experience in a nutshell:
My Race B experience in a nutshell:
It does look like a good set of races, will be even better if there are good selection of cars to use. Just hope the wall penalties aren't too strict on race C other wise a small mistake will be costly.I don't give much two shrimps about this week's dailys, but next week's look great! I've been practicing some laps at GV with all sorts of cars and there, at least according to my five lap trial runs, will be a lot of cars that will be competitive.
Doing very similar times in the AMG, Vette, Porsche, Ford GT 18, Lambo, and NSX.
I am a glutton for punishment... if the Lambo is an option I am using it a bunch!
My Race B experience in a nutshell:
The Penalty System really does need some serious attention. Examples...Agreed. Today there was this A+/S guy in Race B who was doing great, starting every race behind and finishing top 2-5. Except he gained EVERY position by contact. No penalties given. Everyone in the lobbies agreed his driving was plain dirty, and it was, I watched the replays. He just didn't care about ruining other people's races including mine, shoving me off track twice in consecutive races. He should've gotten multiple penalties and SR drop.
It pisses me off that one can get away with driving like that and be rewarded for it. The dude was not able to make a single clean pass during those 3 races, yet he didn't get a single penalty, didn't get SR drop and actually gained DR. No wonder how he got that A+. His strategy seems to be working. Just push everyone outta way.

Hey, hey, hey! Don't diss rotary engines!! I had RX7s for years and years - one of each generation, including the twin-turbo FD. The sound is music to my ears! Not as good as Rob Dahm's 4-rotor RX7, though. This link will take you right to the part of the video that shows what a 4-rotar rotary engine should sound like. And look like, with flames out the pipes:
If it didn't sound like a dying cat I might give it a whirl
How dare you, sirs!? Shame on both of you!!! The RX-V sounds just like the 787B which sound glorious! Not a dying cat, just a severely asthmatic one.

LOL. You gotta admit Rob Dahm has great hair. Seriously though, he's been working on that car for at least the last 7 years, maybe longer. He learned everything he needed to know along the way, built everything himself (with some helpers of course). I have no idea how he managed to not go broke big-time, so I won't complain when he has commercials. He's such a likeable guy that I don't even mind.Wait a minute, that turned into a hair commercial!
Yes, in fact, I did know that. I'm keeping a wait-and-see attitude, but I'm glad the rotary still has some life left in it.Not to get too far off topic here, but did you know Mazda is bringing the good ol' Wankel back in a new hybrid vehicle?
Wait, you were going 140 and someone was ahead of you?! On a related note, I once went on the Autobahn with a representative from Porsche who drove at 250 kph. It blew my mind because it didn’t feel any different. Except people got out of our way!Just barely missed getting caught by a trooper - he got the guy in front of me instead.
Not anticipating that Grand Valley stop-start middle sector is going to produce much different next week. Lots of temptation for divebombers.
you are absolutely 100% correct... however this porsche is a great drive, and i'm really looking forward to Race A tomorrowA Porsche again? Nothing against it in general, but what about the - literally - hundreds of other cars available? One of the late 60's / early 70's american muscle cars for example? Especially on that track?
Well, yeah. When you go fast, you catch up to people in front of you. I think he was doing around 100. I noticed what I thought might be a cop car in the rear-view mirror, so I slowed down and hid next to a truck, and the poor guy in front never stood a chance.Wait, you were going 140 and someone was ahead of you?! Hey, hey, the rotary whine is awesome! 787B is an ungodly sound at full chat!!If it didn't sound like a dying cat I might give it a whirl
Hey. Seems a bit like Smokey & the Bandit. Or better yet . . .Well, yeah. When you go fast, you catch up to people in front of you. I think he was doing around 100. Down to S?I'll drop to DR B next race, because I want to get my SR back down to S, if I have the patience.
If you didn't see, Race A and Race C have both been updated to only have 1x tire wear with pitting disabled.
That track has me not knowing up from down!Down to S?
I was in a Lobby with Wind earlier today (with 5x tire wear) and picked the Corvette. By about lap 6-7 the tires were hurting... pretty bad. Not enough to warrant a pit stop, but I could see some people - maybe in lower lobbies - stopping. The 1x wear is to just mitigate that from happening. RMs with 1x wear would've been much better IMO.Down to S?
I’m hoping that race C uses the high speed BoP because there have been some major changes in that category.
But honestly, there’s no need to change tire wear for ten laps on RH, and I don’t think race A had tire wear anyway. This just seems like a typical PD half-baked plan to over-correct for their own stupid decisions. I understand that they need to do something about the out glitch in the short term, but they had an entire extra month to get the track ready!
It sounds like this suddenly became another very boring week.
I thought maybe I was totally out of the loop in some new strategy!!That track has me not knowing up from down!
I hope so. The Gr4 races will probably become dominated by FF cars. I’m really hoping to get race C as a high speed BoP because the changes are significant. The BRZ got a huge power boost, for example, and a lot of cars got tweaks. But mostly nobody in the high speed category for some reason.Honestly, I think this week's races are going to be great. Two of them are the brand new track and the other should be interesting seeing how the Gr4 AWD cars all got Nerfed. Might actually mean other cars are viable!
From the testing I've done and practice lobbies I've been in, expect the Porsche to be the META for C. Maybe a little less so now that the tire wear went from 5x to 1x (as the 5x only hightens the Porsche's strength on tire wear) but it handles S2 of the track so well; the car rotates beautifully through those tight turns and is able to exit very well, too. Its straight line speed is underrate as well... it's no slouch. I was able to hit 160 at the S/F line which is better than I was able to do in the Vette, Merc, and many others. The Jag I hit 161 and the Ford GT and Ford GT LM II were both 163.I thought maybe I was totally out of the loop in some new strategy!!

just race & see where you end up.. 🤷♂️Here's a fun conundrum to have: Back down in a B lobby, pole position. Managed a win even with 1.5 seconds of track penalties. It was like shooting fish in a barrel.
Here's my problem: Another win or two like that and I'll be back up in the A lobbies, starting P12 or something, which absolutely sucks on this track.
So what do I do? Intentionally tank a few positions so I can stay a B for the rest of today (which isn't very long now that I think about it), or go ahead and move back up to A (assuming I didn't jinx myself with this post).
What would you guys do?
That's what I decided too.just race & see where you end up.. 🤷♂️
👊 good plan 😉That's what I decided too.
I seem to recall that one can't just bounce from X to Y DR within a race. Even if you earn the next rung up (or down) you'll stay at the rating you are for a few more races where you can still nullify the move in rank. This was to keep people from bouncing DRs race-to-race.Well, I have to quit for the day, so this is where I ended up after another pole-to-pole win in a B lobby:

About 1 pixel short of moving back to DR A. A good place to stop, I guess. See y'all tomorrow!
