I think that there is no car wear (no miles recorded) in the dailies if you have entered a race and do qualification laps, but if you jump on and just do quali laps your car will accrue mileage and therefore engine wear.
This sounds right actually, I recall the same thing being figured out.

If anything it'd be that then, you haven't been entering races so you've been wearing down the car in practice/quali.
It's true that I haven't been entering very many races, spending most of my time in Q. So I guess that's it.

Thanks!

4 laps ? 4 laps again ?!

GV will be nice if they've fixed the pits and wall-riding. Already did some practise for the canned GTWS round.

I haven't bothered with the Daily races much this week for slightly obvious reasons. I tried the rally race, I didn't really enjoy it.. It's nice for them to try something different but it didn't hit on this occasion IMO. Glad they tried. Race B seems to be my bread and butter, I've never played this layout of Catalunya before and I like it (I'm not a big fan of the F1 circuit, like I presume most people). It gives it a bit more flow. I did three qualifying laps in the GTR before swapping to the 911RSR, nice to see all different cars in the top QT's. Got solid qualifying pace after five laps (around 1:41 so not quick compared to you guys), I think I can get consistently under 1:42 quite easily so bodes well for racing.

I did one race yesterday with almost no practice in the GTR and gained six places so it looks hopeful I can do well here. Might give it a spin this afternoon as I'm getting a bit tired of the TT.

Yeah, I'm back!

Grand Valley next week is going to be interesting. Love the course and spent a lot of time on it this week but I don't think it's going to be an easy course to overtake on. I see a lot of carnage with this one, especially into the hairpin, through the S curves and into the chicane after the second tunnel.

I would have liked the guys at PD to be a bit more imaginative with race A. A Porsche again? Nothing against it in general, but what about the - literally - hundreds of other cars available? One of the late 60's / early 70's american muscle cars for example? Especially on that track?
A race in the new Citreön DS would have been more imaginative. Especially with tuning options. That thing tuned is hilarious!

Err... I've just crawled out of my place under a rock. What is broken there?

Not sure if a pit will be necessary though for race C. 10 laps on hards with 5x wear?

Had a go on Race A last night. Think it's more suited to controllers or people with a external handbrake. Wasn't fun with my GT3 wheel 😂
Glad didn't effect my ratings.

I don't think it will on RH tires. Those things last a while. 5x wear is enough to effect the driving, but not enough to require a pit stop IMO. I can't see losing 30 seconds over the course of X amount of laps being worth pitting.

Weird that Race A isn't even the newly added '75 Porsche? It's the old '95 one? Strange.

A and B look like they are both short, which means we will be able to hop between them. I much prefer that than having a 8 minute long B and a 12 minute long A that means you can't race hop. Means there's actually more racing than waiting, for a change.

While you wait for the next races why don't you come join this?

Tried the BRZ after reading all the positive comments about it and agree, it's a surprising gem!

Managed to improve lap time by 1 tenth immediately and jumped into a race, starting P12.

The BRZ is good for qualy but very slow race pace! Massive difference in the straights but thankfully, makes it up in the corners

Got eaten alive at the start and lost 2 positions (down to P14) with no top speed but kept my cool and finished P9 whilst defending for my life 😂😅

I've been SR S for more than a week. I was beginning to think there wasn't anything I could do to drop below S. Then in one race I got knocked down to SR B. Got a bogus 5 second penalty because a bunch of people in front of me wrecked, and there was nothing to do except hope everyone stayed ghosted, which they didn't. Then I was following a Vette who drove erratically - he braked hard and in odd places, so I accidentally tapped him a few times - didn't affect him and I was a good boy and stayed behind him. No penalties but obviously it hurt my SR.

Then on the last turn he brake checked me, or else he's a really crappy driver with a DR A rating, and I couldn't stop from hitting him no matter what. He went in the grass a little but continued on to keep his spot. I got what ended up being a 2 second penalty that cost me a position.

I started out P10 and ended up P11, but I could have easily ended up P6 or P7 if it weren't for the 5 second penalty. Sigh. Still got my DR A, but I don't know for how much longer - I'm at 15%. But easy come, easy go, if that happens.

The hopefully good news is that maybe I won't get stick in A/S lobbies, and instead end up in some lobbies where my QT will seed me higher than P10. After lunch.

I'm finally not sinking to the bottom in B but I'm definitely not on the attack either. I'm usually leading the midfield and the top group is a couple of seconds up the road.

I've tried about 6 different cars but can't get my qualy time below 1:42.

Hopefully next week is better but 4 laps is just a hot sprint to the finish that encourages very aggressive driving.

On a second thought I wonder if they shortened the races by a few mins for the VR drivers. Maybe to reduce the risk of motion sickness and therefore reviews.

Yes, I'd assume that it couldn't be that great in actual races. Too slow on the straights to overtake anyone in the braking zones, and in the turns, where it is quick, you can't overtake anyway.

Really liking the looks of this week's dailies... I've been smashing the Historic Race around GVS about 50 times since yesterday so will be nice to have a proper race against humans. The full layout in the Group 3s shouldn't be bad either.

Saying that, I'll be gutted to see the end of my daily Group 2 fix.

What's said is that they could literally build a script and allow the script to randomize the events. It would do a better job.

Also, there should be 5 daily races like the original GT6 quick race. The World Series events should have been a separate mode.

While I'm here, HEY PD, how about some penalties for the clown show of contact happening? Everyone is out there using their cars as a weapon with no repercussion. Losing SR isn't deterrent enough. People need to be losing positions in races with 0.5-1.5 second penalties

It was a nice thought, but I ended up in basically the same lobby, starting P10. There were a couple of drivers with SR B, the rest SR S. Start P10 as usual. This time I managed to finish P6 due to so many people just plain losing it.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that in order for me to move up more than 1 or 2 starting places, looks like I'd need to gain almost a full second in Q time. Needless to say, that's not happening.

Although earlier this morning I was ahead of my best time by a good half-second (possibly more) when unfortunately I noticed it. It was on the back straightaway leading to the hairpin, and I choked so bad I needed the Heimlich maneuver!

Aye, like this one by @con360

Used a few cars in TT for race B this week, didn't track sectors but my times were, I don't use ghosts but I have shared the replays of the first 3 if anyone wants to use them
BRZ: 1:38.8
Huracan: 1:38.9
4C: 1:39.2
650S: 1:39.6

I’m actually a bit surprised that more people aren’t talking an out Race C. I’m sure it’s because it’s Gr2, and people think they aren’t fast enough for that. I would have thought the same, but once I got a day under my belt I’ve discovered I really REALLY love those cars! They’re actually easier to drive than Gr3 because they have such great downforce.

I know people hate Lake Maggiore reverse, and I would have said the same (I always have) but the grip in the Gr2 cars makes those weird turns mostly not a problem. Better yet, there is so much flow that there aren’t many bottle necks so that the races are incredibly clean. @GrumpyOldMan, if you need to get your SR up, this would be the race to do it. At least give it a shot.

And there is legitimate strategy in this one. Although I think the two-stopper was wishful thinking, it is possible to preserve the soft tires for a lap more than others if you get slipstream, and there are real benefits to either starting on sifts or mediums.

Anyway, I’ll keep after it. It’s too late in the week for me to try to actually race at Catalunya. People have been improving their times all week, and in a four lap sprint (why?!) every tenth matters and I just don’t have it. Tenths matter in Race C as well, but there are so many more ways to make them up. Try it, folks!

I don't understand the Q times on that track. Are only the studs playing race B this week? My best laptime was in the top 900s yesterday (might be a bit above 1000 today). When I watched a race on somebodys stream, which happened to be in a lobby in which I might be placed in (DR A predominantly, with one or two A+ drivers), I realized that with my time I would have been P11(!) on the grid.

Honestly I just think everyone hates Catalunya and has avoided it. Trend can be seen in the forum too.

I’ll ponder that while I go do race C. . .

🧐

Based on what I saw last night I would not say laps are any better now than they were earlier in the week.

On Monday I did a couple races and had reasonable QT position but in the race, lap 1 was rough and each time I got hit out. One race I quit and another I came 15th but only because someone else quit. I was like, this race is not for me so I then decided to skip it.

Yesterday I went back in with a different mindset. My DR has dropped to a low B with the risk of dropping back to C so I figured if I get taken out I'll get C and then I could compete in the Nations Cup as a DR C rather than DR B. So I did four races. One ended in 4th, a decent result, but three ended with mishap, one of which I was 1/2 lap from the finish in 5th with the chap behind trying to take an inside line and not succeeding/backing off as I was turning in ahead. He did say sorry in the chat at the end though. In those I mostly fought my way back to mid spots but I could have been much higher. So, I think the quality is just as bad as before. I'm seeing a lot of fast QT but not fast race lap times.
Honestly I just think everyone hates Catalunya and has avoided it. Trend can be seen in the forum too.
I must be odd as I actually kind of like Catalunya as a circuit, but some of the racecraft? That's another story..

Ya, exactly. If only I could upload that into the game rather than having to grunt it out.

I love Group 2 but despise LM reverse. It's just complete rubbish. The corners are so awkward and unnatural.
