i have not taken the time to read through today's comments on Race C, but I just had a blast on it. Did two sets of 10 for qualifying (Ford and then 911) and decided, "oh what the hell, I'll race". I can see why the Ford will be the meta car this week as it's fast in the straights, but I needed my familiarity of the 911 for all the non-straight sections.
I did get distracted along the coast trying to identify the birds. Pelicans and what kind of raptor/vulture, hahaha. Like last week's Race C the drive into twilight/night really adds a challenge.

I didn't get much time to practice much for the new races this week due to a random bowling outing. It was my first time in over 3 years since breaking my elbow and taking a year off then the league I was in disbanded the year after. It wasn't pretty to say the least. Just like my short practice session at Grand Valley. I could not get any type of rhythm down and had a rough go at it. I was in the Mustang so that didn't help. I also changed my wheel settings which also may have contributed to my struggles.

I did have more success at Trial Mountain in the Mustang as well. I'm at a 2:00.9XX currently and once I get used to the new wheel settings I should be able to drop a few more tenths off my time. I'll try Grand Valley again in a different car and see what I can do.

Porsche is a solid pick for Race B if noone has tried it yet, ran a few laps in it and pulled a 58.5 - certainly a bit more time in it though. I don't think it's quite as good as the '86 (my weapon of choice) but its competent enough.
tried it. Felt fantastic, time was well over a second off the stang.
You mean like this?

Details on how this information was obtained can be found here, but it's boboring.
Even worse, some of us fell from about 35k DR to 8k.

Mustang definite car for me I'm race B, down to a 59.1 and there's a 58 somewhere.

I'm way behind on the forums but wanted to let you all know that I've posted a Race B 1:59:316 QT replay on the showcase. Gtp9.

Of course it was a TT, but I also feel I can get the AMG Gr4 fairly close also. So hoping to nail down a few victories with what should be a high starting position in the Audi first, and then will race the rest of the week in the AMG!

Didn’t get much time to play tonight after work so I tried qualifying in a few cars and had time for only one race.

Tried the swift and couldn’t get below 2:01 but that’s on par with the testing I did this weekend when trying vw and the TT. Just haven’t found speed in the FF’s yet.

I raced AMG and Mustang in lobbies over the weekend and held my own so I gave both a go. I was low 2:01 in the AMG but couldn’t get it below that so I went to the Mustang and after a few more laps was at a low 2:00.
Running QT laps with VR is not so fun because with no HUD do you only get your sector splits and can’t dial in on exactly where gains and load come from.

Had to go do one B race before calling it and started p14 in the Mustang in an A/A+ lobby. Nice that you don’t start back in the chicane anymore because when I saw my place on the grid I was prepared for the worst.

Got overtaken by a Ferrari on my inside in t5 and then I made up places in the next few laps due to bobbles and spins. Last lap I got to pass the Ferrari back and finished p9. Happy with the result in my first race of the new week. Fun clean race.

Good luck out there!

🍻

So I tried to run race B last night and set a nice quick 59.6 before it opened, and the lobby crashed while set to start p2 and in the loading screen. So I took a 2 lap warmup and set a qualifying lap for the race C starting in a few minutes. Including spinning into a wall and serving a 0.5 penalty on the lap.

People definitely don't know the track. Started p11 and took it easy through lap 1. Was up to p8 after 1 lap. People just kept wrecking and getting penalties. I ended up p5 with lots of drivers way behind. My Hyundai might not be the sharpest drive out there but nailing the laps without penalties still makes it faster than a META car that wrecks 3 times or has 4 seconds of penalties over the race.

Did go back to a race B and went p2 to p2. Dropped to p3 after a small error lap 1 and then almost caught the leader at the end so it wasn't boring, but nice drive. I think I'll like this week.

This week is so much better than last week!

I took part in two daily race A and I had improved my qualifying time so race 1 I was P2 and race 2 I was P4. However, I’m not very good at grid starts it appears.. In race 1, I was doing well until I got hit from the rear, spinning me out and then I just had to chase down the others to try to catch up. Race two I don’t remember what happened but I think I messed up and spun out and then I also had to chase down the others and try to catch up, if I’m not hit, I can be competitive in my low class on this race. The race length is just right but I’m glad it’s a non DR/SR event. They were two cars in front of me, deliberately trying to knock each other out. It was quite entertaining for a bit until I past their wreck.

I tried to beat my qualifying time for race C by using the Ford GT‘ 18, but I couldn’t do it although I came close. I also couldn’t beat it in the Lamborghini which is what I QT'd in and the Porsche 911 RSR was a couple seconds slower tonight. I was beginning to consistently lap in the 51s but I just couldn’t get into the low 50s and the Ford was the faster of the three, but I gave up on entering race C for the evening and turned my attention to race B.

I practiced several cars for race B and I couldn’t get anywhere near the qualifying times of you guys but I was able to improve my QT with the Ferrari so I stuck with that. I started P8. Entering the second tunnel was a bit “frantic” though.

Somehow, I survived that and the rest was nice and clean. I proceeded to finish fifth. I was very happy.

While my SR rating has not improved. My DR rating took a healthy gain today (up 1200), though race C did not help that (a net -200 drop) as a result of getting punted to the later half finishers.

All in all a much better week for racing I think.

I announced that I have quit this week's Daily Race A, citing dissatisfaction with the conditions of the races. Particularly in race A, I'm extremely disgusted regarding the oversteer on the 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Club Sport. Therefore, I vow never use that car in any daily race again.

Down to a 1:49.3 or so with the Ford GT. Good for 3rd in an all B lobby but damn that things a hoot to drive. Lap 6 lost it on the fast section after T1 and ended my race. Might be using the 911 or AMG just for insurance purposes 😂
The Ford is super fast and corners like it is on rails until it doesn't. The one thing with the Ford is when it decides it does not like you, it can go spectacularly wrong very fast.

I need lessons on how not to suck apparently as I am still stuck in the 2:02s.... Even when I'm following a ghost, of say Grumpy's, It does not look like I am losing in any one particular spot and I appear to follow the same lines and what not but I just don't carry the speed. It is like death by a thousand cuts. I lose seconds by a thousand 2/1000s here and there..

I presume you're joking, but just in case you are serious, I found the car to be immensely enjoyable to drive with TCS at 1, stability control on and counter steer to strong. Without those, not matter how delicately I tried to drive it I ended up backwards or into a wall. But with those, it is super fun.

Now I just need tips on how to launch the 911 off the line as I appear to lose two spots within the first 15 seconds of the race. :banghead:

That Porsche for race A drives amazingly. Figured it would be very sketchy, especially considering as the one we had at Brands recently was, but it's really pleasant and for the most part does exactly what you want it to.
I like that combo a lot, too. It gave me another case of my "I don't stop until I'm happy with my time"-disease. I tried to get into the 1:17s for two+ hours. Then I lost my best ghost due to my old PS4 getting some kind of hiccup and having to restart it. I loaded your ghost instead (man, you've killed it once again🥳) and chasing it, I got some 1000ths below 1:18 within two more laps. Cheers!🍻

I don’t understand the track limits at the chicane at GV. I thought it was the white lines, but sometimes I cut them with no penalty and other times I stay inside them and get 0.5. Anyone able to definitively say what the limit is?

May be wrong chat, but anyhow just like to share my experience.
(using Fanatec DD pro + PS5)

Really enjoyed GT7 and race C track this week is just fantastic, last weeks however tried out ACC on PS5, I need to say that it is complete another level of sim racing. Still looking for best setup but it is by far above GT7 on sim racing, if you combine GT7 as it is and add physics from ACC it will be dream game. Anyone after a time has best Fanatec DD pro setting for GT7 and ACC to share?

I'm 55. I feel like it, I look like it, and since @GrumpyOldMan has come here I can't even make age jokes anymore...🤣

@TechnoIsLove , @JP76 : Happy birthday!🥳
starting to get the feeling the avarage age at this here forum is relatively high..... 🤔

Just had a fun night at race C. Very hectic, and I'm running my Hyundai as a goof. Got QT down to a 48.3 which got me some decent starting spots. But the racing has been good. Plenty surprised with 2 wides through turn 1 and most of the way down the esses (until i chickened out both times). Hairpin passes, 2 wide through the entire next section to the half tunnel once, even cut backs in the tight tunnel turn.

And the different cars. Yeah the Ford is META, but so much else is viable. One race I got to p4, the top 9 were 9 different cars, and within about 15 seconds. GT, Mustang, 911, RC-F, Hyundai, Corvette, GT-R and others. A different car won each race.

Then the night ended with some A+ rated troll coming from the back in the Alfa 4C, and rubbing people off on the walls to complete passes. They had 1 bar internet, but it happened so much at least some of the moves had to be deliberate. Always someone. But not letting them get me down. It was fun.

Tried the Megane Trophy on my alt and couldn't get below a mid 59, so I'd say it's about a second off. I'll have a play around with some more unusual cars tomorrow.

Only did an hour or so last night, post birthday and tired, and to be honest I hardly ever drive that track.
Tried the Atenza and Hurican, thought I was on a decent lap until I saw yourself and @TechnoIsLove at 1:58 something 😳

Only 2:02 something so far.
...ill try better cars later, and I do like the GT4 Porsche actually.

relatively high is relative, you know....
just as an example I'm relatively aged too and I race relatively good, all in all I'm relatively happy

Also, as a technical advise, the guy in the picture should mount the TV in front of him, not at his side. That should help him moving up from his E rate.

Happy birthday to @TechnoIsLove and @JP76

If you didn't see, Race A and Race C have both been updated to only have 1x tire wear with pitting disabled.

That may be the case but I've noticed that grip is being lost as Race C goes on.., especially from lap 7.

Also, what the hell is this obsession with RH tyres? PD?

Had so much fun on Daily C yesterday. Got a couple wins on the 2 account (which is maxed out B right now) including one with the Lambo! Told you guys I'd be running this pig. This car is so beautiful and I know some of you will recognize the OG Lambo livery.

Next was jumping on the Euro account. That account is still relatively new and I am trying to build it up (sitting at mid-B). Did three races and got three wins, relatively easily (no disrespect, but again it's still a newish account); one in the Ford and two in the McLaren. So on the next race I decided to pick a more mid-tier car and jumped in the NSX.

And, of course, the race I decide to pick a blah car I end up in a lobby with none other than Super GT and @GOTMAXPOWER ! Son uv a! I can't remember if I started P3 or P4 but here is my mid-B rated butt in a lobby with some heavy hitters. By the end of T5 I was in P3 as the aforementioned heavy hitters were just driving off. After ~5 laps I was just in cruse mode as S-GT and GMP were like five seconds ahead and the guy in 4th was like three seconds behind... when the NSX went full MR on me through T3 & 4, got squirrelly, and I hit the guardrail... 1.5 pen, dirty tires, yadda yadda. After all was said and done I ended up finishing, ironically, in P-Steve (aka P6). Honestly, not a horrible result considering, though a podium would've been nice.

"Hey guys, wait for me, I want to play too!"

I decided to jump into another one with a car I like hoping the both of them would be there but only half were. Started P3, got up to P2 in the first lap then watched that yellow and green Porsche get smaller and smaller. Admittedly, I was getting tired as I'd done a bunch of these and kept making stupid mistakes about half way through. Make no mistake, it wouldn't have mattered, GMP is too quick and was opening the gap even when I wasn't driving poorly.

This was one of the reasons I made an EMEA account, so I could hopefully race with some of you guys. Hopefully see you out there again... even if it is for only a lap or so.

Being out front (ish) on my second race was a LOT easier. I also over compensated by driving the 911 with TCS at 1, just because I can still slide that out if I curb the rear wheel wrong.
I had to run TC1 for the circuit experience. This track is wicked.
My SR is stil a B though I've done 24 clean laps today. I wonder how long it takes to get it back up as last week it seemingly dropped with just a sneeze.
It’s weird, but that happened to me a few weeks ago. I was SR B for a few races, and after one more clean race I jumped back up to SR S. Just keep after it and you’ll be fine.

The Cayman has been my go-to sleeper at places like Watkins Glen. Looks like I’ll have to try it again this week.

I can’t get the ‘Stang to get going for some reason. I know it loves momentum, but I can’t get it to accelerate! I’ve had luck with the Jag so far, which is very similar to the Mustang.

I know this forum only represents a small percentage of the GT7 player population, but this is exactly why I find it hard to believe that I’m playing against 12 to 20 year olds in online lobbies. My guess is the B and A/A+ lobbies are populated by the older crowd.

On another note, I enjoyed a few Race B’s last night. Got my 100th top 5. Currently at 28% top 5 finishes. Had I taken sport mode a little more serious from the beginning, it would probably be quite a bit greater percentage.

You mean that a lot of older guys are driving like immature children? No, that's impossible...🤣

I have been saying this a lot lately but man, people are effing clueless on how to drive. Anyone trying to make a move in sector 1 at Trial Mountain is an absolute giblet unless the man in front has made a significant error. There's no room guys, no idea why you think there is room, because there's not.

There's a MASSIVE long straight with an ON CAMBER, UPHILL CORNER one can brake into, a corner that accepts multiple lines, HOW ABOUT TRYING TO PASS THERE INSTEAD.

Idiots.
