Rubbin' on an oval is one thing, on regular tracks it's just cheating and dirty. It's Trial Mountain, no excuse for not making a clean pass, it has the best corner in the game for passing.
I mean have you watched a NASCAR road race lately? or an IMSA race? how about WEC? V8 Supercars? I mean I get it. In open wheel racing (except you know Sprint Cars, Midgets, Dirt, Indycar) so basically the F1 and F1 ladder series rubbing is bad and wrong.
But like literally every other series on the planet all the way down to Brazilian Stock Car Racing contact is a fairly regular thing through corners, straights, whatever.

Only egregious contact is punished, the rest of the time it's literally accepted as "part of the package" and is only notable when it's really really bad.

I'm not quite sure how to proceed right now with my Daily Races. Down to less than middle of B rank and have done a couple of things that is affecting my racing:

1) Load Cell brake
2) Traction Control 0 vs 3
3) VR

Not sure if it'd be best just to focus on getting my legs back under me with all of these changes. Not sure how you guys are checking or tracking your DR (I tried that site but not quite sure if I'm snapshotting the correct screenshot in game) but I might just chill for a bit and focus on re-learning some of these cars and how to drive in VR.

Even MotoGP and WSBK (And my own club racing suit and fairings) have tire and contact marks. Once you get to a high enough level where everyone is comfortable being inches apart, the occasional contact comes with it.
That said, hammering someone out of the way in any league (including the roundy rounds) is frowned upon. There is a big difference between contact/rubbing and slamming into someone. But few can tell the difference or care to.

Finally got around to a few races in B. We were out of power for most of the day.

It's fun, I'm not as competitive as I hoped for. Ran a quick qualy around 2:01, not sure how they are getting into the 1:56s.
May be wrong chat, but anyhow just like to share my experience.
(using Fanatec DD pro + PS5)

Really enjoyed GT7 and race C track this week is just fantastic, last weeks however tried out ACC on PS5, I need to say that it is complete another level of sim racing. Still looking for best setup but it is by far above GT7 on sim racing, if you combine GT7 as it is and add physics from ACC it will be dream game. Anyone after a time has best Fanatec DD pro setting for GT7 and ACC to share?
My DD pro acts weird on GT7 at times. Sometimes it feels great and other times it's just a blob of force feedback with no nuance. Usually a power cycle fixes it but it is is annoying. I haven't experimented with settings to much but I plan on doing some testing this weekend. The fanatec forums have a lot of good info.

I had more luck off youtube than the Fanatec forum. Ended up saving 5 different setups into the wheel so I could switch between them quickly, then once I found the best one from that played with it to get it to where I felt it was best. But everyone has a different idea of what's best.
There's also a couple video's and pages that explain what every change does rather than just saying "this is the best"

There's contact, side by side rubbing, then there's bing hit off the road. 99% of the time I am hit off the road. I'm not talking the guy making a pass, rubbing my side panels, little nudge, I am talking about barging into me, i get pushed well offline or into a barrier and they contiunue on and i have gone from 5th to 14th plus a 5 second penalty.

@Nebuc72, @NevilleNobody, @Leon Kowalski, @CmdrParabolus, and I'm can't remember which one of you is "Erco":

Cut it out! I can't catch you guys in TM qualifying if you keep getting better too!

I just follow the instructions on the KudosPrime site. Basically after each race, head to your Profile Page, the one that looks like this:

Gran Turismo® 7_20230228000151.jpg

Then create a capture of it with the share button.

Then at the end of the day, or whenever I'm ready, exit out of GT7 and go to the media browser. I then select these captured shots and download them to a USB drive. I insert that drive into my computer, open up the SportsTracker under GT7 in Kudosprime and then drag all my profile captures into the upload area.

You have to do it this way to preserve the resolution and file name. I tried to do this by downloading from the PS App which also gets the shared captures but that modifies the file name that breaks the Kudosprime timestamp detection so things can get out of order and messed up. As long as you work with the original files it works well but is a bit of a pain to go though all these steps.

At Catalunya I got hit so hard into the braking zone of turn 7 that I shot straight across the gravel into the barrier and got a penalty. The car that hit me kept going and got nothing (Also accused me of hitting cars in a race shortly after that where he took me out again). The penalty system is absolute garbage. Not to mention losing your clean race bonus from being blatantly taken out by someone.
But it's fun. We're having fun.

oh absolutely! Purposeful contact designed to move someone out of the way is acceptable almost never (looking at you NASCAR) but run of the mill contact is just that, run of the mill.

I download them from the PS app on my phone and reupload to Kudos - works fine.

And I was thinking @CmdrParabolus was closer to my level but no. Makes me feel totally inadequate now 🤦‍♂️

I need some losers to friend me so I don't feel so bad about my mediocre QT times. Though now no one will "friend" me as then they'll admit to being a loser! :D

Yeah I am not talking about gong side by side and the inside man runs me a bit wide to make his pass. I am talking being hit, usually upper mid pack down to near last.

Weird. Must be an iOS thing there where I download it from my PS App on the phone and it goes into Apple photos where I then uploaded from there. File name got changed which lost the chronology but the resolution was unchanged.

It feels like, though does not prove out in the DR, that start of the week I can do okay while everyone is figuring out the tracks and then mid week I start to lose out dropping DR in end pack finishing. At this point I tend to pause. Then at the weekend I may try again and end up with a different crowd during the weekend days as opposed to weekday evenings and do better again to improve my DR. That was at least last week...
The pattern fits my experience as well. I think at the beginning of the week everyone is trying to figure things out and quali times are still slow. The week progresses and people get better so I do worse. But on the weekend many more people are playing so there are more people closely matched to me and I do ok again. And on Sunday a lot of people are getting their first laps of the week in, and I do well again.
TBh a lot of the time it's idiots diving for gap that is going to close when they get there. So it's lap 1, we are all nose to tail, i take the racing line so "leave the door open", you have no overlap but decide to chuck it in, i turn in and hit you.
This happened to me with a certain YT personality at Autopolis a couple months ago and he was very rude in his assessment of how I drove around the corner in a line of cars on lap 1 and “turned into him” as he dove into the midst of the line. Just garbage, and he’s promoting this type of behavior.
This guy was B/B, and his name was Beauvois.......
Clearly it’s an open invitation to treat him like he’s AI!!!

Did I have a couple races with you this morning? Is this your racing ID as well?

THis is a borderline religous discussion. Some will argue "the door was open", whereas I'll argue that some time between you lunging for the gap and actually getting your car there, i turned in and you had to know I was gonna turn in. It's either that or I am taking a defensive line with you three car lengths back.

Yeah, but when it’s lap 1 and everyone is queuing up for T1, it seems like the height of presumption to barge past everyone who’s trying to be clean and fair, and then blame the people you just barged through. . .

Sorry if that is anathema! 😇

So to expand on @NevilleNobody's point, I had 2 passes on me last night from the same race in the same freaking corner that I think will highlight the difference between an acceptable level of contact and an unacceptable level.

FIRST: An acceptable level of hard racing -

I missed the apex on the corner before their pass and opened the door for them to even have the opportunity, so the first fault lies with me. Then I was taking a wide entry into the sweeping left hander as soon as I hit the brake they jumped at the chance to what I have always called "beat me to the corner." If you notice, there was contact, but it wasn't them, I turned down on my normal lane and they was already there. BUT they didn't wash up, didn't shove me out of the way etc.. Honestly it was an impressive pass.

SECOND: Unacceptable level of contact.

I once again opened the door by spinning the tires coming out of the left hander, but they just dive bomb the corner and tried to use me to slow their momentum. Which is why I immediately saw red and sent them all the way around.

Daily race C for me was so much fun yesterday. The vast majority of races were clean, but this was the last race of the night and it was a mess.

Well you showed them who's boss. Well done! 👍

PERFECT examples
Yep, bang on.
Pun intended
