I did 2 races last week, and none this week. First week (as far as I remember) that I didn't do a single race. Admittedly I spent a lot of time on GranTracker, but still... I really wanted to race, but just couldn't bring myself to jump into what I knew would be a disaster.

I sure hope next week is better. I assume we don't know what next week's races will be, right?

I've never wanted a week to end more than this week. Race B and C are the dullest things known to man - 8 laps of a 44 second long lap is utter madness. It's a terrible combination.

C I can acknowledge liking but for the most part it's a bunch of tanks driving in an oval, with the only overtakes being when a Ferrari divebombs you because by this point the qualifying order is already in pace order. No strategy there at all makes for a dull race for me

I adore MX-5's at Tsukuba but unfortunately since PD gutted and killed Race A (still not over this decision) I'm just racing against B and C DR's all the time. Which isn't fun.

To be frank, what I know of next weeks don't seem great either. Neither Interlagos nor Nurb GP are tracks I am fond of. Race A is Trial Mountain (awesome!!) but it's Race A so it will be dead again.
I still can't understand why they "deranked" one race out of three. It also happens to usually be a race with street cars, as if they think it doesn't count as racing. For a game that has a large majority of street cars, that's not easily understandable.

It also makes me sad to see reactions like "OMG WhAt WaS pD tHiNkInG?!?" when they put a typical "Race A" (meaning not Gr4/3/2/1/ cars) in B or C. Of course, everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. But people need to remember that 95% of daily races B and C are Gr4/3 cars with BOP. For real, take a deep breath Roger, Gr4 at Lago Maggiore will be back next week. And the week after for instance.

Trial Mountain next week seems amazing for a daily race A! Do you already know which car will be used there? I haven't seen anything from Nenkai yet.

I usually stick to Race A, so its annoying that its not ranked. But I can see that it does take the pressure off, so that folks are not trying to kill each other to keep their DR high. Just nice to have the option of racing online, but not worry about driver rating taking a hit. Its kind of like how folks have multiple accounts, they try the races on their side account first, and then try them on their main accounts, to make sure their DR stays high.

I finished GT Sport with DR at A, but I'm at DR C in GT7, and don't have time for Manufacturer/Nations cups, so ranking/points don't matter to me. Just need good clean races, and I get that 70-80% of the time.

I completely understand that and I agree with you. Daily race A is still very enjoyable this way, and DR isn't the only purpose of racing. It's sometimes great being able to race without worrying about your DR. The only issue is that it's almost always the same category of races that is unranked. If they had rotated it differently from the start, it might have been better.

For example, Daily race A is unranked this week, and then the next week it's Daily race B, and then the next week Daily race C, and then back to Daily race A, etc. It would allow for a lot more variety.

Like you, I stick to Daily race A. Luckily, I was able to get to A/A+ before getting tired of Gr4/3 races. It means I usually get better quality lobbies with better and more respectful drivers. Obviously, it's not perfect but it's a lot better and enjoyable. In higher ranked lobbies on the Asia/Oceania servers, bad driving can still happen but dirty driving is not common.

It's really not that deep, they were trying to make a race more accessible to beginners who are put off by DR / SR rankings and consider Race A the most beginner friendly.

Which is a bit weird isn’t it? I think that learning a new street car every week is a lot harder than keeping the same Gr4/3 from one week to another. Also I tend to believe that handling a street car or at least pushing it is harder than with a Gr4/3.

Maybe but you can look at it a different way, if you're trying to bring in players who have spent most of their single player experience in road cars already. It's not that. big of a transition as it is to then race Gr 3.

That makes sense. Oh well, I can only hope that we get more ranked races with cars other than Gr4/3/2/1.

It clearly isn't bringing any more people into playing Sport. In fact, it seems more like unranked Race A is driving people away, since they see no benefit to participating without DR/SR changes.

Yeah regardless of the plan we can't say it's worked. I don't think they really promoted it properly either though. Just another failed idea in the end.

I think Nenkai has now potential stopped his Daily Race updates. I know he said a few weeks back that he could stop as he doesn’t race Daily races.

Ive been told Nurbs Gr3 was Daily C and Gr4 was the Daily B race. Anyway just found this which seem like they are true.

Race A is fantastic I reckon, gonna practice hard for that one.

I wonder how many people use VR whilst daily racing?

I can't play without VR now, although I admit for some reason, I'm not as quick playing with the headset. Should be the other way round I know

I'm still happy racing at the mid-rear and taking in the beauty of the immersion

I’m much, MUCH faster in VR. I doubt I’ll ever play a racing game again that isn’t in VR

The Race A conundrum is that the people who want non-competitive racing with no DR or SR aren't seeing that it's available because it's still in "Sport" mode, which those people won't ever click in because it sounds competitive and serious.

The fix is simple for them; make A ranked again and put an every-five-minutes "random race" in the Multiplayer mode instead.

To take that on a little bit future is they could combine lobbies and ranked races in to a unified interface exposing people to lobbies and races. Imagine going to "online" seeing the "feature (ranked) races" next to a list of the most "players" normal unranked lobbies.

Everyone wins, A race players who want unranked can create or find races for them and the people that want ranked races get 3 back again.

Expose lobbies more to the player base with a little bit of the [sic] trickle down kudos of ranked racing.

I mean they already partially do it with the weekly TTs in the sport part and online part?

Just gut and remove Sport Mode entirely and replace it with the Quick Match format we had in GT6. It was better in every way. Sport mode has been a blight on the franchise. I said it!

This one screen alone has more variety in it for online racing than GTS or GT7 have ever been able to churn out.

I think it would be possible for PD to add Quick Matches (with at least one one a cycle being Shuffle), actually Daily Races, drift trials, seasonal events with Sophy AI, and Paralympics Esports series... in my hopes and dreams.
My hopes are still high but my expectations are lower than my SR would be after a Tomahawk X Daily Race at Northern Isle.

I imagine that the player numbers just aren't realistically there for them to do anything.

It's a shame really.
Honestly, I bet the players are there. There's just no incentive for most people to go into Sport Mode if they don't care for competition over casual racing.
If they made an effort to actually attract that demographic, I would wager there's enough people there to fill the lobbies - at least to a reasonable degree.

It's a weird one because I really don't know. I think the majority prefer smashing the AI and the car thing over competitive racing.

I mean with the 10's of millions of copies sold you would kinda expect maybe a lot more to play online than do.

But I don't know other than the daily leaderboards and TT counts.

Lobbies are pretty sparse to.

I think a lot if not most people don't buy this game for the racing per'se more for the cars and trying them out/smashing the AI.

That said the single player content is pretty dire and overtly obvious in forcing people to try cars/events out of their happy place. Menus and actual events. And that is the reason I started racing online again on console.

Nenkai said he's now done with sharing the daily race info.
In a nutshell, he said he just doesn't feel like it, because he doesn't like the racing.
Any of you know how to hack the GT website? :D

That's not what I've said. I'm not interested in that being the only available option hardly appealing to anyone not seriously into it.
As many others have said, I just wish I knew how to find the information myself. I'd certainly be willing to post it. If you don't want to share how you did it publicly, drop me a PM and I promise to keep how it's done a secret.
