Why must we go backwards? It takes me half the week to just relearn the track.

Happy GIF by Disney
Of all the reverse tracks, Kyoto Yamagiwa is actually pretty nice. I think it's more enjoyable than going forward.
I definitely don't feel the same about Trial Mountain. :yuck:
I agree. Most of the reverse tracks are awful. Except Gardens which is miles better than forwards. Yamagiwa isn't too bad though.

Viper GTS '13 at Sardegna C is one of the worst races I've ever done in GT7. Farce and pathetic are about the first words that come to mind.

Look at this. Apologies for the poor video quality.

See, what those people need is a better education about dirty tyres

Knew bragging about my awesome night of clean racing would come back and bite me :)

Night started off ok. Then started 2nd and spent 5 laps on the ass of P1, a good 5 or so seconds ahead of everyone else. Then he touched the gravel coming up to the final corner, came across the track and collected me, sending me in to the gravel and straightening him up. The outcome of that sent me to 14th and he ended up winning (he did apologise after the race at least).

That kicked off a horror run of 5-6 races in a row finishing between 13th and 16th, either getting taken out or being unable to avoid someone else having an incident.

Race A is a poop-show this week. Why PD put that already insane car on such bad tires is beyond me.

Tin foil hat on, but I seriously think PD hate American cars. They finally give us a race with a Viper and they put such bad tires on it that it drives like garbage. You have to brake a half a mile before the turn or you might as well just not bother...

Drive it like you stole it...

I’m going to miss Watkins Glen next week. It’s such a good racing circuit. Good flow, places to overtake cleanly and excellent BoP means lots of car options.

I’ve really loved the racing this week. Next week looks a lot less enjoyable.
I very much agree, and next week I'd have preferred if they car classifications were swapped with GR3 on C and GR4 at TM

I'm very sad that they're returning to a comically short Race B.
It was a good length this week, racing felt proper because you had time to make moves or defend instead of just being forced off the track because there's no time to properly overtake in a 6 minute race.

F1 next week for me.

I wish Race C next week was the normal way round, because regular Kyoto in Gr.4 is my favourite combination in the game, I just really gel with all the long sweepers and getting the final chicane right always feels great.

In reverse though the esses and the main chicane just feel really clunky to me though. Oh well.

When you drive for 6 days straight in the slow arse Silvia, and sunday you discover you're way faster in the SLS AMG

Agree - tyre change requirement brought a bit of strategy into it. Only the occasional dirty driver too.....👍

You're so nice and light in your judgment. To me it looks like when you have a friend over and let him try GT7 (having never played racing games ever). What it looks like when a person like that tries driving is what 90% of participants in this race drive like.

Sometimes I think I'm brain damaged because I entered this stupid race again and lost CRB twice in a row. So many sacks of **** completely unable to drive. And some of them have done hundreds of races. How can one have played this game for such a substantial amount of time and still be COMPLETELY CLUELESS as to how a car moves. The incompetence is borderline worse than dirty driving because the latter at least have some car control and predictablility.

And I need to take my own advice here. "And breathe, there is always another race, another day and when we aren't doing this stuff there is a lot of other stuff far more importantly like family"

It's mostly just kids or inexperienced gamers to be honest. It's a judgement issue not usually a sporting one although sometimes they are one and the same.

Hi all. New forum user here, and relatively new to sim racing (been playing for the past 3 months). I'm currently ranked C/S, and have been learning a lot through the daily races. I feel this week at Watkins Glen has been the best though, with some really clean and fun driving. I even managed to pull off my best finish today going from P8 to P2, against some good drivers. Looking forward to more races like this one, and hope to see some of you online :)

Only had time to do about 5 races this week, but Watkins Glen is usually one of the better sport mode combos. I had fun and its one of the rare tracks I can be competitive on. Even won a race (mid DR B/S). A very rare occurence.

Such is life though, next week will be a week off. Those tracks are not for me in normal layout, let alone reverse, and I wont have the time to learn them enough to have any fun.

Hope everyone that races next week has a good week!

Welcome aboard mate. Now the learning begins :)

Great result but it does get tougher the further/better you get so enjoy it and just keep learning and pop along to the time trial tread, it will teach you better braking and consistency. Race craft isn't a finite thing so you just need to keep learning it.

Good to have you here and again well done on a P2 :)

Here's a perfect example of why people like to have an alternate account:

For most of the week, my QT was good enough to put me in the top 2-5 positions of every race (although it was only a handful of races), including yesterday, and I had fun.

I just ran a race and this was my starting grid:

At P11 with a bunch of other "B" drivers ahead of me, the most I could hope for was to not lose too many DR points.

The race ended up being a lot of fun, and pretty respectful (at least back where I was in the pack). I even pulled over and waited for someone I accidentally nudged, and all that happened was we switch places back to the way it was before I nudged him.

So here's the thing: If PD allowed us to exit a race without losing points, I wouldn't have bothered with the race. But since I was stuck there, I proceeded with the race and had lot of fun, and only lost about 1.5 points.

If I had time for more races, I'd do it using my secondary account so I could just enjoy the racing, without worrying about DR points.

Hope this makes sense - why it's sometimes nice to have a secondary account.

Hey Redwolf, I was in that race with you. I believe I finished 4th. You had a great race.
(I even went to look at the reply as I was thinking you didn’t pit - lol)

Welcome to the forum.
Feel free to add me as a friend.

Thank you Buffalo_DRD, I will do that :)
Yeah, I pitted on lap 4 to see if I could get 6 laps out of the soft tires. Started to get a little sketchy at the end, which kept me from getting any closer to P1.

I’m a bit confused on the pit entry penalty at Watkins glen. To be honest I hit the wall on the exit to the final straight so dived into the pits cutting across the lines and didn’t get a penalty. But I’ve touched the line before and gotten 3 seconds.

Are penalties generally lenient if you lose time?

My plans to race all day yesterday in VR were thwarted by a dresser drawer that dropped on my big toe. But I was able to do two race C today.

First race was going well until there was a pileup in front of me which I couldn't avoid. That effectively put me out of the points.

Second race had me finish second last but it was much better behaved. A bunch of super fast A+ race from the back types but the good kind. All very respectful.

I actually managed to tail one of them for a few laps! Yes, he was on the hard compound and was almost always in a battle but at least I kept up!

I definitely need time to season myself with VR in some B lobbies so you probably won't catch me sweating out there.

In general, with the exception of walls and such, track penalties won't be applied if the game thinks you didn't gain an advantage. It's debatable if the game considers whether you were forced off the track or not - not sure about that. Of course, the game might still reset your position of you go off track in the wrong places.

I wasn't really sure where else to post this, but I figured ya'll get a kick out of it. These are the drivers who received penalties for exceeding track limits in today's F1 race at the Red Bull Ring after a thourough review, AFTER the race was over. There were even more handed out during the race itself!

“During the Grand Prix, Race Control was tasked with reviewing well over 1,200 instances where a car was reported as potentially leaving the track,” an FIA spokesperson said.

I hate to say it, but track limit pens at RBR might be the most realistic thing in GT7.

It's the dumbest track limits on the planet there. If they don't like it, don't pave it, don't kerb it. Race drivers are supposed to use anything that can possibly give grip and pace.
