Having done both B and C, I’d say the Glen is > than Laguna this week. Longer race, bigger track, so more space and drivers are calmer, less aggressive. There’s strategy too. And the Glen is a great track!

That is the worst Penalty still in the game. Literally no one pays attention to the yellow flag, and it is a complete lottery as to whether you get the 3s or not. You had very bad luck there unfortunately.
I remember the first time I saw a yellow in GTS and I immediately slowed only to be passed by lots of cars lol!

Why do they let you gain a place in 99% of yellows, and then randomly penalize you on rare occasions? So odd.

Is this normal on Watkins Glen for a 3 seconds pit line penalty? Not over the yellow line but on it. Was I super unlucky? I took photos of the point I was most over the line.

I reckon we get a BOP overhaul next month, when season 2 for Nations and/or Manu is about to start.
I'm not sure it really needs it (although I wouldn't say no to a power bump for my Corvette). There's been a decent variety of cars towards the front of the recent races I've done, at least at my level. Things may be different once you reach alien territory.

Tell me I am not going crazy. I got taken out later in this race by the Supra driver (I am in the Ferrari), who told me it was "Karma" in the chat after the race. Looking at the replay of the event he is referring to, I can't work out what he is upset about.

Am I in the wrong here?

Race B, corkscrew.
I just received a 6 seconds penalty for not respecting the yellow flag.
The flag appeared 1 millisecond before getting penalized. What?🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️
I moaned about the exact same thing on the Short Sardgena C race a few weeks back and I didn't even overtake the person I got fractionally ahead on the outside of them right at the apex but lifted to make the corner and let them through. No contact either. :/ the weird way the penalty logic/non logic is this game is mind boggling when you consider how good Sophy is.

You're fine, Supra driver has a skill issue, and maybe an ego issue.

That's good. I haven't done manufacturer series in a while but I'll get back to it in season 2, mainly due to the rewards end of season.

Race A this week seems infected with the most incompetence and idiocy I've ever seen so far in GT7. That Viper apparently requires some driving knowledge that almost no one has. At least not the B and C people doing this combo. And the track doesn't quite lend itself to clean racing either.

I tried to set a QT and found the car undriveable! I can’t imagine it’s this bad irl!

Exactly, there is no logic. There's just a bunch of 0 and 1 and game code carelessly thrown there and not fixed because this happens so rarely that PD don't even notice.
But what if this happens in an official competition? Will they be embarrassed? Will they bow? Will they fix it?...

No.

Well. Maybe some need tp go to specsavers as I just had a race at race c and thought I finished 7th but got 4th as people still forgot to make the change from one tyre to the other with the new helpful hand
All credit to PD they tried to fix that "oversight" by players.

But honestly it speaks volumes about how much people are invested in these races when they don't even understand the rules.

No wonder we all bitch so much about poor driving when people can't even get the tire requirements right.

I don't blame them, but this is why you cruise past some of these guys who have great qually times yet are mobile chicanes in the race. They just don't understand racing or consistency sometimes.

OK, guys, I'm befuddled. Flabbergasted. Other words like that. I suck at Laguna now. I mean, I can't come within 1 1/2 seconds of my best time. I this because of the update? Or is it totally me?

What's your experience been since the update? What cars are you using?

Probably you. I could not get close to my QT yesterday. I am always fastest at the start of the week and then I seem to ingrain bad habits or get stuck in my ways as I try to improve. It seems counter intuitive but if I keep driving the same track over and over I just get worse...

Try race C for a bit or one of the TTs then go back to it.

i'm probably going mad but is this gap to the leader feature new?

Always been there although not with connection showing

Race C this week. B is a bit of a struggle especially if there are any connection blips.

They haven't changed the physics this update.

Edit: the BoP of the silva has changed though so it's not as op as before.

The supra is the next best for Laguna

It's a bit of a handful, sure. Not that bad though. Most of the issues seem to stem from people expecting this car to have racing car quality brakes, when in reality it's the opposite. But I mean it doesn't exactly take too long to figure that out and adjust accordingly. How are they missing the braking time after time...?

I dislike racing later at night especially in the longer races.

I really really really needed to decompress from work today and here we are first lap awesome driver heroes... meh

Edit:

It just gets me how they can be so aggressive and slow. There is only so many times you can switcheroo them :/

I think there lies the rub.

We need to remember that gt7 was released for ps4. Consequently, anything sophy related likely is too much for the ps4 version. I hope that once Sophy arrives we get an update to the penalty system because the past few weeks have been ridiculous. Mistakes will always happen..thats no big deal...but the past few weeks have been full of malicious ummm people.

Damn! This is a tough situation. :guilty:
I know all of you have been there.
Approaching a turn with a car on your back bumper, while you're on the bumper of the car ahead is difficult.
I'm trying to wait for the guy behind me to brake, so I don't get hit, and at the same time, trying to make sure I brake before the guy ahead of me. This time, I couldn't make it work.
I felt bad, and apologized. Thankfully, the guy I hit was cool about it.

At Watkins this week, undercut has worked out well enough for me that I’ve started going for it if there’s anyone in front of me at the end of lap3 (if I’m starting on hards).
Just pushing like hell for two laps, usally gain a few spots. My tires are rough on the last lap, but better than hards (for me in the m6). Have lost out to people who I undercut, but mostly has paid off.

Also been starting on softs if I quali p5 or better. It’s worked out really well a couple times, but you are a sitting duck at the end depending how it all shapes out.
I’ve been lucky and gotten into p1 or 2 by the end of lap 1 or 2.
I did have a great battle doing this on the last lap, where I was able to keep up with p1 who passed me on softs, and missed the win by a tenth.

I also did this, got p1 with a 10 second gap, and pit and put on softs again 😩. P6

But overall I’ve had a lot of great racing. Side by side battles, or long gap battles. Passing or being passed and all the inbetween, has been way better and cleaner than I was expecting with the tire difference.

Enjoying c this week! Goodluck! See you out there!

For sure! And they were both very close! I typically…. Brake very slightly early, trusting both drivers. Not saying that usally works out though 😎.

alot of the time (which would be worse in your situation, and many corners) I take the inside, and put it in other peoples hands to make a mistake by out braking themselves (either guy in front or behind). Not saying that usally works either 😎
I did this a lot more when I was less confident in MYSELF in traffic, and coming out of that without it being my fault. Especially if I feel like the person behind is better, and probaly brakes later than me in general.

I think anyone aware of what’s happening would understand contact there, if they are not already expecting it

Yet again shining light on the developers' oversight in terms of a fleshed-out racing tutorial. We're knocking over cones in a car park and learning to come to a complete stop on a 100m straight when instead players could use their time in the game learning about:

- Dirty air and the effects it can have in different categories of vehicle.

- The effect (and existence!) of dirty tyres, how long they can last and what to do about them. Applies to tyre temperature as well.

- Taking alternative lines to perform clean overtakes.

- Shift points. It's well known within the community that certain cars need to rev out or some shift early, but how many people are oblivious?

Just myriad things that for whatever reason, PD feel like hiding from the casual player. Without community interaction it's quite possible swathes of players will never click with Sport Mode (and then there's those who don't care or notice these things and drive like idiots regardless).

If I'd have spent the amount of time I did on some of the Licence Tests on these hypothetical lessons, then it would have been impossible to leave them without having learnt something.

I’m going to miss this race C. If you can survive the bus stop mess on lap 1 it’s a nice clean race, good length, bit of strategy. All I’m really asking for.

A couple of podiums this morning in the Mazda and I’m right on the verge of B with the 3rd account (to join the other 2). 12 races so far, 12 top 5s. That won’t last, low B is usually where I hit a wall. I did beat a bunch of them today though.
