Tell me I am not going crazy. I got taken out later in this race by the Supra driver (I am in the Ferrari), who told me it was "Karma" in the chat after the race. Looking at the replay of the event he is referring to, I can't work out what he is upset about.

Am I in the wrong here?

Definitely not in the wrong.

Supra was likely focussed on car in front and didn't realise you were alongside on his inside. Turned in to make Apex, felt big bump and assumed he'd been divebombed. Been plenty of times I've been filled with Rage thinking that had occurred, till I check the replay and realise they were fairly alongside me.

Hi there...
I'm really fed up wirh the situation to be downgraded/divebombed in DR C once again, just before the last day of ManufacturersCup. Now I'm struggeling to get back to DR B, without doing the same to those Rambos who think it's a good idea to overtake someone on Softs while they are on Hards...
The DR ranking system dailies with manu/nation doesn't suit those drivers, who compete in all online competions...
I'm feeling punished...

EDIT##
YEAH!
After improving my QTime (rank 5000×) and 6 or 7 really nice fair races later, I managed to get back in DR B...
Now I can train for Interlagos...

Thanks! I assumed he was fixated on the car in front and had forgotten to check his radar. I do hope he checked the replay.

Why must we go backwards? It takes me half the week to just relearn the track.

OK, guys, I'm befuddled. Flabbergasted. Other words like that. I suck at Laguna now. I mean, I can't come within 1 1/2 seconds of my best time. I this because of the update? Or is it totally me?

What's your experience been since the update? What cars are you using?
After the update jumped directly to race B and noticed something "has changed" with my usual braking points.
Knowing that there was no BOP changes I checked the pedals settings (Logitech 923) and discovered that my settings were gone.
Had to recalibrate.
Dont know if its related with the update or just a coincidence but I recomend to check that.

Mine (T-LCMs) need to be recalibrated quite a lot as they loose the ability for the game to register 100% or the brake/abs light will flicker.

Now I set them to 97% of full travel for 100% game input.

In a race you will notice the throttle bar not being smooth at full throttle and flickering. And constantly out accelerated.

Tried something different earlier, wanted to see what other cars can do at Laguna Seca for lap times

Didn't see an AMG SLS in top 1k so gave it a try and it handles and accelerates very well. I actually went almost 0.2s faster than my PB driving the Silvia 🙂

Still just a 1:27:0 so nothing too impressive, but mostly I just want to show off the livery I spent hours making 🤣

I’m going to miss this race C. If you can survive the bus stop mess on lap 1 it’s a nice clean race, good length, bit of strategy. All I’m really asking for.

A couple of podiums this morning in the Mazda and I’m right on the verge of B with the 3rd account (to join the other 2). 12 races so far, 12 top 5s. That won’t last, low B is usually where I hit a wall. I did beat a bunch of them today though.
Seriously, can we just have a permanent race at the Glen?

That one was a bit squeeky-bum-time at the end. The car is awful on hards, expecially on the outlap. Left the pits lap 6 with a 12 second lead and ended the race only 0.3 secs ahead of a GTR. They were really hunting me down on softs but were very gentlemany when they caught up on the last lap. I went to the inside the last few turns and they resisted the urge to punt me into oblivion. Naturally they were a fellow Brit 🇬🇧

Made it up to DR B a lot faster this time round - maybe I'm finally getting the hang of this online racing malarkey.

Of all the reverse tracks, Kyoto Yamagiwa is actually pretty nice. I think it's more enjoyable than going forward.
I definitely don't feel the same about Trial Mountain. :yuck:
I much prefer the reverse layout here too. I think because the first couple of times I raced it on GT Sport was the same layout and the flow is pretty good compared to most of the backwards tracks

I have to say it's both massively frustrating and satisfying but mostly frustrating this journey on my new account.

I'm sort of flirting with B rank (I'm quitting more than I normally would) but my time for daily C is in the 1:43s which isn't setting the world on fire in my normal habitat. But it's about a second faster than 2nd place but not always.

I figure the reason I'm a second faster than these guys is they don't know how to brake, when to brake and lack a lot of anticipation skills or actual race craft.

These things come with time and practice so not mad at people, although in the moment I get annoyed.

What frustrates me more is that I have to wait a whole race cycle to try again. I'm literally on pole, won the last few in a row and boom first lap I'm on the end of an Exocet missile and now it's race on my own, sure I'll catch a few but it is meh. But yeay I have essentially a 40-45 min wait till I can roll the dice again.

Just rambling I guess :(

Off topic (sort of) post (mods feel free to move or delete).

Tried the newish Fanatec DD (the affordable one) with Heuskenveld (sp?) load cell pedals.

Holy expletive deleted! So much more feel in the wheel and pedals than my G29 set up. You can modulate the brakes, sense when the tires are losing grip. So immersive.

Gonna be hard not to upgrade now!

Hope that was a more enjoyable post than me complaining about getting brake checked at Laguna!

Ps was on Assetto Corsa not GT7.

What is happening?

9 Race B's last night...and only 1 that was dirty. Nights like this will bring you back time and time again.

In one of the races I even had a completely rare combo. A post-race apology from one guy (he hit the sausage on the inside causing him to hit me on the outside), then a second guy get past me by knocking me offline, only for him to lift off 2 corners later and let me back through.

I should buy a lotto ticket today...

That's awesome! I hope you knocked on wood after typing that!

Yet again shining light on the developers' oversight in terms of a fleshed-out racing tutorial. We're knocking over cones in a car park and learning to come to a complete stop on a 100m straight when instead players could use their time in the game learning about:

- Dirty air and the effects it can have in different categories of vehicle.

- The effect (and existence!) of dirty tyres, how long they can last and what to do about them. Applies to tyre temperature as well.

- Taking alternative lines to perform clean overtakes.

- Shift points. It's well known within the community that certain cars need to rev out or some shift early, but how many people are oblivious?

Just myriad things that for whatever reason, PD feel like hiding from the casual player. Without community interaction it's quite possible swathes of players will never click with Sport Mode (and then there's those who don't care or notice these things and drive like idiots regardless).

If I'd have spent the amount of time I did on some of the Licence Tests on these hypothetical lessons, then it would have been impossible to leave them without having learnt something.
Not to mention how learning these things would bring new fans to motorsport. Sports are always more interesting when you learn the nuances.

Anyway, I did my first ever online race in VR today. I was really nervous and finished 13th but I plan to race a whole lot tomorrow to get over the butterflies and attack with confidence. I have grown a liking for the Mazda here. I qualified with it and I'll race with it.

I was just sitting there gobsmacked. If every night was like that I'd never stop!

You'll never go back to racing without it, it's awesome

Not the best overtake to be honest, you pushed him wide into the dirt. I know it wasn't intentional on your behalf but that corner is not the best spot for overtaking and should really be taken in single file, you simply lose too much time going through there 2 abreast. What occurred is pretty much a guarantee outcome unless you have 2 very skilled drivers.

Saying that, the resulting retaliation for the supra driver is never warranted or justified!

I got it at launch and have done pretty much nothing but time trialing. I came close to racing a few times but I always wussed out. A few days ago, I tried to drive on a flat screen for the first time since I got the headset and I couldn't find the turn in point on turn one. It took me three tries. Hopefully never again.

The Supra hit @Crimefighter in attempt to overtake him and pushed himself into the dirt. Crimefighter was already ahead even before the turn came. :)

Supra's action on the straight says otherwise. He was steering to left but canceled after seeing Crimefigher there. The Supra was definitely aware the whole time.

Might be you. Top times got faster, I just knocked 0.55 off my qualifier, and got my first pole and victory of the week in Race B! Much better running in clean air.

I wouldn't say Crimefigher was ahead at the corner, imo they are still along side each other and the overtake was not yet completed hence why they had to go through the turn 2 abreast. Like I said the contact wasn't intentional from either party but that corner is not the best spot to go around side by side and the supra has to eventually start turning in (otherwise they will miss the turn completely) and that's when the contact happened.

Did a couple of Race C's last night. Decided to put in a quali time, just to see where I would start from and to get away from the first lap chaos (which turned out to be the right move based on the chat messages during the second race lol). My time was good enough to start from pole in the first and 2nd in the other. Called it a night after that. Know when not to push my luck.

Second race was far more entertaining. Excellent battle with the person in the M6, I was able to sneak past when they got a track limits penalty but we were never more than around a second apart until the final couple of laps.

Back up to B Rank now.

They’re side by side and he has the inside line. It’s up to the Supra to avoid going through 2 wide. Absolutely no fault in that overtake.

Today has been a good day! So far at least... 🤣

First, I hopped into 2nd account and did a Race C, starting P8. It was very fun, had 2 different battles with 2 players for most of the race and it was fun, clean and close all the time with no incident!

I was actually in P4 but got barged by a different player who also barged himself into the podium at the end and I finished P5... Anyway!

As soon as the race ended, I got my Fanatec wheelbase mount delivered and my rig is finally stable! It was so frustrating to have the whole wheel and motor shake and hop whilst driving!

And the difference.. I improved on my previous PB by 0.4s within a couple of laps 🥳🎉 I'm excited to see where I can improve from now on 🙂

It helps that in the larger Miyabi-Yamagiwa layout, the circuits are opposed in direction. I.e: Yamagiwa forwards + Miyabi backwards*.

*I still think there's no such thing as forwards or backwards on a fictional circuit ;)

So today in a few mins I get my main account back...yeay! But on the alt account and being honest early on was a little bit seal clubbing with a 1:43:9 QT for daily C in D/C lobbies and knowing the fastest strat.

I got back (again) to B on the new account I set up this week. 5 w, 1 2nd and 1 quit in daily C.

Overall it's been a different experience compared to new regional accounts in that mostly the racing has been good, if on reflection just and I mean this sincerely either younger players or players who just are working on being better that aren't quite sure how to do that.

Yes petulant children and adults always pop up and with the speed differential they really aren't a problem more a frustration.

I feel for controller users who lack fidelity as they don't mean a lot of these things they are just over driving and trying to hard in the lower levels and I understand that. Especially when someone drives round the outside of them etc.

Overall, the week has been a fun, I've focused on longer races and managing them. I've practices overtakes a lot more than I would and realised that I don't need to message people who are idiots :)

But yeay main account back and mid grid position will resume :)
