I've done one Race C this week. One of my better combos for results but whats the point? With all the plethora of amazing video games out there its amazing I have even contemplated playing sport mode with my free time considering the state of it. Amazing a game this well known has been broken for two weeks. They clearly cannot fix it or dont want to?

I was going to practice for Nuburgring Manufacturers race on Saturday but I have only got one shot at a time slot due to family commitments, and there is practically no chance I wont get a frozen lobby, so there's not much point in trying...I'm not practicing an 8min+ lap, only for the race not to start.
It's a complete joke. You would imagine that when some of the biggest influencers and players of this game have highlighted the issues for getting on 2 weeks now that something would be done. I saw that thekie25 clearly had a stream up last night emphasising that he was doing elimination trails because the game is broken. Rory, again same thing. These people play this all day every day and if they know its broken yet no action then I think we all know they really don't care

It's an awfully good time for a competitor to release a game with a functioning (and better) online mode.. that's for sure.
Frustratingly I've just bought a DD Pro (although fanatec are just as bad as PD one month in waiting for it to arrive!!)

I can't justify more money for another console now :/ if anything I'm going back to PC next tbh

Is there a game that has given "...GT7 BIG problems!" ?

While Forza Motorsport has been given a fairly mediocre rating for its single player mode its online has been fairly well praised. I don't have an Xbox or PC so I haven't look at it but if I did I think I would be checking it out by now.

These server issues have ended up helping my driver rating by taking me from B to A due to everyone dropping out. I've been on the brink of A for about two weeks but this pushed it over. Stubbornness (or patience) has paid off. I'm sure I'll be knocked down when it's fixed again.

Anyone else benefitting?

It's worth noting that this is an intermittent issue, affecting only some players and - for some - only some of the time, and PD has noted that there is an underlying issue on its end in the "Known Issues (Updated)" article.

I've been trying races at random, since I first heard about it, and have had no issues of any kind. I've even raced some of the aforementioned YouTubers this week (on their Alt accounts, obviously; can't go "risking" the A+ when they need to look good on streams).

I would myself. I'm still on PS4, I've always had a Sony since PSone, however what with Bethesda games being Microsoft exclusive, when I do upgrade (3 years behind...I know) it would be tempting to make the jump.

My wheel wouldnt be compatable though, and as Racing games are half my gaming time, its kinda that would hold me back.

Sorry, getting on topic...

Race B and C are still knackered...

That is not true Famine.

Its not an intermittent issue when 6 streamers racing 6 hours a day plus face the issue.

It's not true when every single person that wants to do multi race sessions can have a fine experience then on the 3rd get the issue.

That is not "intermittent"

I've done 3000 online races on my main account for just this game is and what the odd internet issue or "intermittent server issue is" all to be expected.

What you are saying doesn't marry with what's actually happening quite honestly.

Edit:

Let's get Kie, Rory, chuppa, digit in here and talk about intermittent issues when some of their livelihoods rest on this.

It is very disingenuous to say "it works fine for me" when you don't race as much as some of us.

That's virtually a dictionary definition of the word intermittent...

I mean you can watch streamers wait for races to load or come here and see the posts about races not loading.

I'm not sure how that is intermittent?

Edit:

Because a race loads one time for a person isn't intermittent, it's luck.

And racing more lessens your luck of a race loading. Is not a casual error.

Let's be very very clear there is an issue that is happening. Any glossing over it could be considered insulting.

I can't pull the screenshot off the PS app at the moment for some reason, but I succumbed to taking the Mazda 3 out for a session.

No wonder it's faster, even with BOP it's about 4-500 lbs lighter than other cars along with higher HP, although I'm not sure how much of that is peak versus power under the curve.

I managed a 1:26.720 after a few laps. Your move @TechnoIsLove @TheNormsk

Nice one mate. I took a break for the day. No BS, the amount of times I was between 0.3 and 0.6 faster than my current best and I either get a pen for millimetre over the line on corkscrew entry or blow the final corner is countless 😂 Decided I would rather keep my TV in one piece and come back tomorrow! Well done either way 😎 The time competition for me is just a game, it's pushing each other to improve which I love about these "challenges" 😊

I'm sure it's very frustrating for the players affected, but there is far less noise about this particular period generally than there was when the server fell over properly back in June.

Which is, partly, why I didn't say that, so a little odd you seen fit to stick that in quotation marks.

I've been testing random races to see if I can get the issue myself - as it makes it easier to write about - but so far unsuccessfully, even this week. It's also apparently affecting B/C races more than A, but I can't replicate that either...

However, PD already beat me to the punch and got it into its Known Issues post. And even that says "may", because it isn't a blanket issue affecting all players.

It's intermittent because it only affects some people some of the time. Sometimes even the people experiencing the issue more than others can get normal races, sometimes they can't. This is pretty much what "intermittent" means, and I'm not sure what this reaction to it is about.

Famine, having watched most of the big streamers for GT who do this every day for extended periods.

They face this issue. We are taking combined actual viewers through the day being 4000 plus people.

Then anecdotally I have this issue as I try to race every day.

Then you come to the forum, see that almost every regular contributor has posted about the issue.

Then we can talk about the casuals that get games and it works so it's a non issue.

Again, Sport it made up of a very proportionally small part of the player base.

You'd imagine those committed few hundred thousand players will experience this more.

You don't have to defend PD or the situation but playing on language to avoid the underlying issue is annoying.

It is what it is and that is frustrating if you race more than casually and care/invest money/time in to it.

Sure the races are a bit repeat but at least they were stable with no intermittent "issues"

It's just very frustrating.

This is a new one, checked all connections, Internet is perfect 🤔🤔

Wow 😯 tother day I had 8 races out of 9 fail and my ratings beaten to death. Tonight somethings changed and I don’t yet know if it’s an extension to this problem we’ve been having or the weather. I’ve got an NP-104602-3 error and the network won’t connect. I’ve run network test from my iPad and it says fine.
PS5 network tests fine apart from PSN upload speed is only 1.2mb/s increasing to 2.4mb/sec on 2nd attempt which seems slow?

I'm not doing either of those things. PD clearly screwed something up with the update and it's on them to fix it - and weird that they haven't yet given how speedily they can issue fixes.

As for "playing on language", I used exactly the correct word and you objected to it - for no good reason.

I don't really know why you're taking any of this out on me.

And that's not an intermittent issue (but also probably not a GT one):

True, PD have their own acknowledged issues they need to sort.

As I said, just really frustrating when even lobby's aren't stable.

I'm not going to be anymore negative about it. But having literally bought new hardware to play this game it's just very frustrating

Helped me go from 88% DR to 36% DR A last week. it would be fun to "work" it more but the server issues are getting more and more frustrating so I've given up for now.

Nice time. Challenge accepted! Might not be until Thursday though. Going rain here the next four days so may go cycling tonight instead.

Same. Many times I'm on for a 1:26.4 +/- .2 lap only to mess up a turn or cut a corner and get a penalty. When you are trying to get those low 26s numbers you are driving right on the edge. Literally, one pixel is do or die!

Well that's me done with daily races 'til this is fixed. Had a successful race at 19:00, but it's now 23:00 and not a single one has loaded. I quit two after 40 minutes and let one run for 1hr 10mins until it went to the home screen.

Tried resetting everything, emptying cache but no difference.

FINALLY!!! Some good karma 😊 After 3 aborted races from infinite loading screen, I gave up and wife & I started watching some tv series. About 25 minutes ago, I asked if it was ok to try one more time as I still had an itch and wouldn't you know it, the race actually started!

I was on my 2nd account as didn't want to risk losing more DR from quitting and started in P11 in a full lobby. Aside from 2 people crashing out ahead of me, I managed a few decent overtakes at Laguna Seca and, clean race bonus to top it off, I finished in P5 🎉 Of course, in my excitement, I forgot to save the race replay but still.... 😂 Not playing again and quitting whilst ahead 😛

I've entered six races Bs since last night and have been lucky enough to have been able to compete in five of them. One was dead. *Sigh

Manu better no be FUBAR or I am going to write a scathing letter to PD!

Personally I believe all that can hurt Polyphony is a boycott. Kie has replied to me on X and said yeah its his livelihood at stake- but as an example, Warthunder had an issue with its economy. Plus bots. But we as community simply stopped playing it, the creators had a small break/ vacation and it actually worked. They are busy changing and addressing all we as playerbase have issues with.
Its not major but my Driver rating went down from B to D. I am a daily player as well, but if it wasnt the race taking 10+ minutes or the game giving an error, it was because of hit and run drivers. Thankfully I am back at C rating but exclusively race in two communities in lobbies now.
Daily races are quite repetitive now anyhow- but really, why even bother.
The added cars over the last few updates, the lack of new tracks or endurance events, heck, its tiresome repeating the same complaints.
In 2024 Assetto Corsa 2 will launch, if Gran Turismo keeps on this trajectory I will only see it again once its stable. For the moment having simple old school races against a pretty okay AI and with interesting old race cars (60's F1 cars) is fine by me, on AC.
Why support a game which clearly has given up on itself and never listened when its players have begged for change?

A boycott is never going to work, let alone “hurt” them. The vast majority of players don’t play sport mode, therefore the lagging lobbies are of zero consequence to them.
