I would have loved to watch the video of your run, but since you decided to switch camera views a bunch of times, there's no way I can learn anything from it.

(I typed this yesterday, but apparently I didn't click "Post".)
I shared the replay from the game so look me up and watch it as you please! 😀 Wanted to play today before the football (real version, Man Utd) and F1 start but I ended up spending 6 hours on my other hobby today.... My eyes wanted to bleed towards the end lol

Controversial opinion: The Samba Bus race is absolutely awesome. Yes it is slow, but you have to plan your overtakes in advance. It encourages thought and race craft. Yes there are some bad and dirty drivers as always, but I have loved most of the Race A's this week.

Now please, can they do an Ambulance race? Otherwise what was the point of introducing it to the game?

The.. singleplayer? And lobbies? Basically the entire rest of the game outside of Sport Mode???
The ambulance? I can't think of very many single player events it would be useful in, but maybe it's a lack of imagination on my part?

I really wanted to get into the 1:32’s but failed, I put in so many laps these last few days my right knee is sore from modulating the gas pedal 😅
Hopefully I’m faster next week

I'm right there with you except it is my left leg from all the braking! I started late in the week due to injured finger but as it healed I tried to become competitive again. I tried so hard but couldn't break into the 1:32s. So close though!

Got this one while waiting for a race. 98 thousandths off! My optimal was in the 32s but I never got there.

Surprisingly few people on my friends list took part in this one. I mostly enjoyed my races and sort of like Interlagos. I must be the odd duck, but my race stories is another post.

They've done their usual trick on Race C of specifying the rules to remove any interest from the strategy. By making both RM & RS compulsory the only choice is when to switch, and 🧙‍♀️to run first. Without that rule we could have tried for a RM no-stopper, or tried 4S-4S vs 3S-5M

Well, yes, I suppose so. I am guilty of assuming that most other people play the game like me, which is probably 90% revolving around Time Trials and Sport mode, and that much of the single player stuff is of limited interest. I of course may be wrong in that assumption.

For me personally, I would like to see an ambulance race in the dailies, around a track with lots of twisty stuff - somewhere like Alsace for example.

I agree with you on this.

In the end, I did end up liking the track. Mostly because I learned how to avoid allowing people the inside on those corners, and if I happened to let someone inside, I didn't get ticked off - my fault for not covering it.

As for how I play, you're wrong about your assumptions. Because I 100% revolve around Sport Mode QTs and races, and the single player stuff is of NO interest to me.

Race A is officially the craziest race in Daily Races history, beating the record previously held by the two-lap Nurb in the Suzuki Swift from back in the GT Sport days.

Had they not done that, people would be complaining there is no strat and it's just an RM no stopper... which is exactly what it would be due to pit lane loss.

I hate to say it but them allowing chassis tuning is turning me away from the game. As a busy adult I don't have time to spend hours 'dialing in' a setup to be competitive. What was so attractive to me about sport mode was being able to jump in a race whenever I had a free hour without having to worry about a setup. Now I jump into a race on Friday night just to get smoked by guys who had 20 hours to spend working on their setup all week.

I know I'm in the minority here bur it's still a huge bummer.

I am exactly the same. I just don't have time to play with tuning. Even just copying someone elses tune, takes time to figure out if it works for you or not. I actually know a number of people who don't bother for the same reason. I really dont understand why they are killing what used to be this games biggest strengths. No raod car races that are worth anything, and tuning on both the other races is really pushing casual players away.

In my opinion

I think we're a bit spoilt by having Brake Balance adjustable on the fly.

What I mean is, you can mess around shifting the BB during your practice sessions without too much effort.

Now we have suspension settings to play with, but we have to exit and make the changes and when we come back to the session we don't have our splits available from the previous one. It is a slightly more hardcore element and any differences must be noted "by feel". Also the fact the game doesn't save your setup, so there's that extra hurdle.

I totally understand why nobody wants to touch it (myself included), but we shouldn't be discouraged... It's not going to increase your pace more than a couple of tenths.

After a late start in the week I ended up doing 8 B races last week at Interlagos. 3 on my UK account which I already mentioned and 5 yesterday on my main account. The fear was that I was going to have a significant DR reset and in the first couple races it looked that way but in the end it did not materialize. I ended up only 1% down for the week and I may been finding my natural level around the 20% DR A mark. There is hope!

First race of the week was a mixed A+/A lobby with the top 12 all being in the 1:32s and my 1:33.118 only good enough for 14th. I knew I was dead :scared: First lap I became the unfortunate victim of a 2 second penalty when the car in front punted the car in front of them and instantly slowed causing me to punt them and I was the one penalized. That put me behind a car that I think was a bit dirty in blocking me while they took a penalty themselves and then tried to drive me off the road.

What do you think? Ironically the driver here was the one in the lobby afterwards calling the race poor because of dirty driving. Pot calling kettle? I finished in 15th.

The next race was an easier lobby but I was still only in 10th to start. I dropped to 14th spot on the first two corners as I hadn't figured out the braking point for non-race pace and ended up working my way back to 11th to finish but that was mostly due to race quitters ahead. My performance was not looking optimistic at this point holding onto my A rating...

Race 3 was better, with no punts, no crashes, and no penalties. I also figured out the starting grid braking for the first corners. With this I proved to myself I could be competitive in the mid pack starting 10th and finishing 7th. No way was I going to challenge the leaders as every race would have a A+ guy sitting on pole in the 1:31s or low 1:32s but mid pack I was beginning to find my footing.

Race 4 I improved my QT to 1:33.098 and that improved my QT to start 6th. This was also an easier lobby but I'd also now figured out how to defend the corners at Interlagos and also to use them to make passes. I dropped a spot but also clawed it back to finish 6th, my best result of the day.

Race 5, was a horrible A+/A lobby and I was back to a QT of 13th. :scared::scared: this time!. I dropped to 15th and had to contend with a dirty driver. I'll let the video explain the race.

In the end it all happened on the final couple turns and I finish 9th! Testament to never giving up! Interestingly I got the same DR points gain for 9th as I did in the easier lobby with 6th. So if I'm in a horrible lobby then the goal is just to get to 10th or better.

In the end I like Interlagos and wish now I had more time with it earlier in the week. Once I learned the track and braking I felt more competitive. Still it would have nice if I could have got my QT into the 1:32s. Oh and in most races I was often the only Ferrari on the grid. It may not be the best qualifier out there but in race it is a very capable performer (I settled with a BB of +1 in race).

EDIT: Corrections.

Finally found myself on a Tidgney video 😁 you were catching me at a rate of knots towards the end.
I thought I was going to manage that last week when he appeared in the lobby first thing Monday morning, but alas he vanished before the race began. Good job really, with me stupidly throwing away an early P3 by putting a wheel on the grass into turn 1. That would probably have made the bloopers real.

How do you find out this information?
That would be @GrumpyOldMan's GranTracker app.

You got the percentages right, just flipped upside down. It’s probably at best 10% of people play sport mode, with the other 90% doing SP.

Personally, I go through phases where I’m sport mode only for a few weeks, then back to messing about in SP.

Re tuning:

The only way PD is going to get people to buy into tuning, is they allow us to copy/paste tunes from the leaderboard. Allow the people who dedicate a lot of time to this game to do the heavy lifting, and then the window lickers like us can download a tune from them to work off of.

Had a great week with interlagos last week with the Ferrari and got me a win today on the Mazda. Think I’m going to enjoy this week too, the Mazda being a little OP so ppl are hunting for you

I'm genuinely in two minds about tuning for a few reasons.

If the cars were truly BoP'd then why do we need it? Sure it's nice to tweak things but of the 200k people online I'm not sure the digital feeling is that different compared to a real life race weekend.

They implement tuning in the weirdest way possible. This whole PP thing is fundamentally flawed for a myriad of reasons.

Even brake balance for sprint length races seems a weird thing to double down on and let's add fuel management in to the mix as well is sub 20 lap races. Come on PD

Fake multipliers. At least dress that up as softer/harder compounds or reduced size fuel tanks etc it just feels immersion braking that no tire is the tire and that you can just say randomly it's going to be different because we say so. Make more compounds available.

If we can have fuel and TC and BB quick tunes, why can't we tweak the LSD so on tighter circuits we dial down and on flowing circuits we dial it up?

Bah gonna stop there as I could keep going forever especially with pit stops, strategy, race starts etc

Edit:

As for why I like GR car tuning. On reflection I don't.

The game should set each car up optimally and we should learn to drive it optimally or find one that suits us for sports mode.

It just creates weird Meta Metas in its current form
