Was watching some Race Cs on Rory's stream at lunchtime. I'm sure a meta will arrive at some point but it's really nice at the moment to see the variety of cars being used. Same in the Nations races on Saturday. Well done to PD for the recent BoP update, for Gr3 at least it seems to have done a good job.

Been on the track with Bull and I can tell you he's a magnet for dbags.
Thanks for the testimonial! I know I’m a bit of a ***** when racing and my compliance probably invites the abuse I get, but I don’t deserve to get douched this many times! 🤪
I'm a golfer, and no truer words have ever been spoken.
I used to golf as well, but I had to quit when other players would randomly run into me, tip over my cart, break a club or two, and then play on to the next hole. . . .

Now, if we could only convince PD to make good use of these newly competitive cars with some competitive races on the dailies! Sheesh!

I honestly think there may be a new tire model coming with all of the mundane race requirements they’ve been using lately. I hope.

After barely putting 4 hours into the game last week (had to put some work on my real car) I came in today optimistic that I could do better than the last one. Not getting to grip with the track was also a big factor in taking a break last week..

I'm excited for both Race B and C this week as they do seem to have potential. Tried a few laps with the Viper, Mustang and GT86 but looks like good ol' 650S will do at Laguna Seca this week!

Only did about 8 or 9 laps so far with the McLaren so hoping to keep improving and then hop into a few races later on tonight :)

Sorry! Completely forgot to make the video live and has been ready for awhile! Here's this weeks, weekly race guide though for interested! Some cracking racing in this with some GTPlanet regulars

Brilliant video, as usual! Quick question...

Is there any 'general' information I should keep in mind as a controller driver? For instance, we struggle with tire wear compared to the wheel-inclined crowd. Are there any other verifiably different things like that that I/we should be aware of while watching lap guides? Should we brake sooner? Should we brake later? That kind of stuff.

I thought of this as I was running TM this past week. If remembering correctly, your brake marker at the top of the hill (for T13) is the left-side tree stump at the crest. If I use that I'm always too hot coming in. Wasn't sure if it was due to lack of skill, bumper cam, reaction time, controller, etc. so thought I'd ask.😁

If it's been covered/beaten to death already, I apologize...Thanks!

The Gr4 BoP really does seem to be better balanced this time round with a lot more cars becoming competitive.

I don't think the Megane is as meta as it first appears and for the first time in forever the M4 can put a respectable time in.

I want to mix it up a bit this week so will avoid the McLaren for daily B (it's my manu drive, and I've driven both Gr3 and 4 to death, to the point they needed body and engine makeovers)

Early signs are I won't be competitive at Monza, I genuinely don't know why that is but I like Laguna a lot so might fair a little better there. Gonna try both and see which one I like more.

Did you do a race so far at LS? Driving standards are ____________ ?

Here is the lap if you're interested, good luck sir, may the horse be with you 🤣🎠

Have you shared it? ❤️

Ah man you really nail the left after the cork screw. The rest I can keep pace or improve a little bit on (just the gearing is different) but that corner I'm struggling with (in relative terms of the meaning of struggle)

We will see how the week pans out, work wise I need to be in the office a few days this week combined with wife and daughter time I might not get the racing I've been doing recently in.

Pole by nearly a second.....and some how my braking points that I'll add are the absolute latest you can brake and even then you need to pretty good at trail braking....or you don't because you can use me as the extra speed reducer....

So daily B is currently Monday evening quality....

Still a big fan of this stellar game design.
Im getting tired of TT my friends rather than racing it's been several weeks now where im racing friends times rather than people.

No hubris or anything like that so please people don't take offence.

I qualify well for my B pay grade, we can debate if I should be A or not but I do qualify well usually in the top5-800s.

So pretty damn quick, and I work hard at it. Racing wise, how does someone 1 second back think I'm somehow leaving the door open or leaving a gap ONE SECOND BACK

I run pretty top lap speeds for a B lobby i Just unsure of how the fu.. you can catch me on the brakes and then bin it the next corner.

Rant over. I apologise normal moaning, contrarian Glen will resume.

Thankyou, appreciate it!

In terms of brake markers when I was a pad player they were only a tiny bit earlier but that was because I used the Joystick if you are using L2/R2 there shouldn't be a difference. The big thing you may find is using the joystick to turn that you may find braking inefficiency if the rear end starts to come out as on a wheel you can control it better due to having more rotation and feel. Even more of an issue if you use a joystick for braking and accelerating as on a wheel you can overlay to force understeer instead.

Markers I point out though aren't always at that point, its car dependant and temperature dependant to. But they are markers I use so sometimes just before it, on it or after it depending.

Happy to answer questions that have already been asked in the past so no need to apologize  .

Yeah I feel you mate. Been this way for over a month now - Unless I'm top 5 starting and have a chance to break-off from the rest of the ones behind, I'm destroyed!

And 9 out of 10 times when it happens, it's because I've been taken out rather than it being my mistake.

Hoping it's not the case this week but I guess we shall see

In addition to what Tidge has already said, of you haven't already try changing ABS to Weak. I tried it and it was the key to matching the braking points Mr.Grady shows us in his great videos

Having one of those days where it seems you forget how to drive.

Somehow set a time good enough for front 2 rows at Monza (in the old Ford GT, no idea how, can’t get close again) and then spent the races going backward at an alarming rate. Missing the apexes but hitting the competition, constant penalties for cutting the 3rd chicane, just a nightmare.

Quitting before I ruin any more people’s races. DR and SR in a race to see which can drop down first.

Only highlight was cruising past people down the main straight. Nothing was safe from the Ford.

Like all three of the tracks this week, but Laguna on RHs is tough, even in Gr.4. So little lateral grip which makes it hard to get into the apexes on a track where doing so is crucial to be fast, and to not end up in the gravel on the exit!

I’ve been on this track in a street car with very sticky tires (R comps) and there’s far more grip irl. Don’t see why a race car on slicks would be worse.

Monza is better in Race C rather than A or B, even though its still essentially a sprint. Only managed one race tonight but atleast you can get some clean air and get your head down with everyone pitting on different laps.

It still doesnt stop people sticking a silly dive bomb in corners to overtake rather than waiting to do it on the massive long straights.

Its been said many times on this forum but the AI in single player just promotes this crap. Try that crap in ACC even in single player and your race is usually toast.

I'm gonna guess by the weekend rolls around its going to be turn 1 idiocy, but atleast I got one good race in. I only finished 8th but a clean race bonus is a win.

Hope everyone has a good one. Busy week for me but hoping to get the manu race done on Wednesday then will come back to this at weekend.

I did just now, but it's a bit faster than before at 1:28:6...

Not that it mattered! You know I respect and trust you but I wanted to see for myself and well, you definitely didn't lie or exaggerate about the "events" which occurred throughout your race!

Any guesses what position I was in after Turn 1 Lap 1 from a P9 start? Shouldn't be too difficult to imagine... ⚰️💩 HINT - It 100% wasn't P1!

Here I go again.

After three weeks with Daily C races with mandatory pit for... Nothing, I must say.

What is the point and interest of pitting for nothing?
Moreover, at Monza, we can enter and exit pit lane at full speed.

Tire wear is so low (hard compound and X1 wear), that it has no effect on all race.
Therefore, I would like to ask the guru and highly clever person at PD who had set this race.
Does he ever think about and/or test the idealized and elaborated races?

Ridiculous. A game that has it all, with so very little use.

:dunce:

Yeah, what happens to us when this happens? Some YouTuber (@Tidgney) should figure this out and let us know. ;)

Edit:

First race this week. I STILL have no clue how PD matches lobbies. "One of these things is not like the others":

Finished P7, and had a good race. At one point I was P6 (P5?), then a visit to the sandbox had me P11, but I got back quickly to P8, and as I said finished P7.

@icycls That was you in the race, right? Sorry for the couple of spots of bad braking I had. I hope it didn't mess you up too much. And I'm not sure how I got back in front of you after I went into the sand/gravel - I hope I didn't plow through you.

How does one get out of the pits at Monza without getting a penalty? Just for fun, I went into the pits a second time to see what's going on. I crept out slowly staying carefully between the lines but still got a penalty.

Decided to not qualify for race C, so that I could hang back at the first chicane to avoid being rammed, only to find that everybody is ghosted when I get there!

No danger after all.

The only thing that baffles me at Monza is that first chicane where you have to take a right and then an immediate left, I got tons of penalties in this section when I was racing in GT sport. I don't know why but whenever I enter and get fuel/tires and then exit I'll most of the time get a cutting pit lane penalty, when I always drive between the white lines. I don't get it.

This should be a more smooth and sophisticated week for everyone! However my time will be limited this week as we have two doctor appointments Friday afternoon, so I won't be online Wednesday and possibly Thursday, we'll see if I have some spare time.

I really like race C this week, the 1x tyre/fuel sounds boring on paper but it's great!

Everybody can race hard because you're not forced to look after the tyres all race (pad players are not going in with a hand tied behind their back) and because of that wear you have to actually think about strategy, some times it's faster to pit early to get out of traffic, others it's faster to stay out and use the slipstream.

The new BOP seems to be working too, the GR Supra is fastest so most of the lobby will choose it but it's not a lot quicker, every car I've seen in there is close enough to the pace that it can compete, even the 911 is competitive at Monza, that was unheard of before!

Are you sure you stayed to the right of the line all the way? It goes into the braking zone, nearly to the first corner.

It's one of the few tracks I've never got an exit penalty. Only seen one when someone was being a **** and swerved across to block a car coming down the straight.

Hello, here is the lap of my best run at LS. I'm wondering for whoever sees it can help me to get an even better time. Honestly I don't think it was my personal best, I could have done better in some sections of the track. I lost a tiny bit of speed at T1, (the U-turn). I should have braked at marker 3 and then immediately braked/turned left during the U-turn.

The corkscrew is a time killer, that's all I say about it. Actually the last sharp left turn is a time killer too, because you can either go too fast and miss the turn or brake too early and lose even more time. I like the weather, it's an overcast at almost dark. At least it's not bright and sunny which produces a glare that affects my eyes.

I'm gonna go to bed in a little bit, I'm gonna keep grinding and knocking my lap down.

Laguna Seca was one of my first tracks I raced on in gt3, about 20 years ago.
