That sucks, I wonder how long it will take for them to fix the servers. I hope it's not 1-2 days. I wish I had done more races over the weekend when it was working strong, but I had to take care of me and my mom, family comes first. Ugh, and I read this on this strange website.

Well, I'll give it a try later on tonight. Good luck with the tracks this week guys, it seems like it's gonna be a fun and enjoyable week. Especially Race A.

Due to the aforementioned outages, I was only able to do two Daily Race A sessions for today.

First session - Went with the Mazda RX-7 on this run and it was a fun one as I had to deal with a Jaguar XJ220 and Honda NSX during the race.

Was able to win this race but those two definitely gave me a scare.

Second session - Went with the NSX next. The F40 gave me a challenge and it was one of those races where I had to outsmart my nearest rival by being in the draft on the last lap and it worked out at the end.

Is there some trick to driving through the pit lane at daytona? At several occasions my pit time seemed much longer than my competitors, even though I don't change tyres or take fuel. My total 'drive through' pit time is about 32-33 seconds.

Example 1: Leader is 24 seconds ahead of me (P3), and 19 seconds ahead of P2. It was lap 9 and he had to pit. So I thought this would be an easy P2 for me. Not so much, he even got out ahead of P2..

Example 2: I pit from P14. The cars on P15 and P16 are multiple seconds behind me and also dive into the pits. Again I don't take tyres or anything, but when I come out I am dead last 3-4 seconds behind P15. What am I missing here? I click on the no tyres and nu fuel buttons as fast as I can.

Are you swinging into the pit lane from the track at the last possible moment, or running along the apron for a while?

Are you lifting on the pit entry?
I reckon that the speed on the entry affects the whole trajectory through boxes.
Maybe theres some sort of calculation that takes the entry speed into the equation.

For example, this week in Daytona you dont need to change tyres or refuel.
If you enter boxes close enough of someone gaining speed with slipstream you will surely go out ahead of him or some times ghosted inside of him.

Edit: grammar

When practicing the Daytona pit entry yesterday, I noticed a couple of times as the AI took over control it steered the car to the right, bouncing off an invisible wall on the edge of the pit lane. I imagine that could slow down your pit stop a bit.

Just got round to doing some laps of A and wow I'd forgotten just how nice the tuned porker was.

Managed to set an early time in the top 500 and one of only 10 911s in the top 500.

Did I say how much I love the handling of the Porsche 🤗

Edit:

As is typical 🤦‍♂️ I post a pic of a time do "one more lap" and take 3/10s off of it

IMG_1254.jpeg

Edit 2:

Went over to my main account and improved a fraction more on the first lap

I can definitely get in to the 2:08s with the Porsche. Did I say I love the way this car handles!!! 😝

Edit 4:

I was determined to prove to myself a 2:08 with my hamfisted scruff of the neck style was doable in the porker

And that's me done

Thinking of tyre wear factors, I began the week opting for the Alfa Romeo for Race C, sitting on a quali time of 1.45.9xx (using the Supra). There's no doubt in my mind, as the leaderboards clearly display, that the Toyota is the best car for the job here. I naively thought that I could eke out some kind of advantage during the race by benefiting later in the contest, obviously I was very wrong.

No matter how much time you can make up on the infield, the Supras always catch you, or at least maintain their lead as they stretch their legs around the oval. After some quite frankly awful experiences in the 4C, I finally swallowed the meta-pill and chose the Toyota. Luckily I quite enjoy driving this car, and this combo is proving to be addictive as hell.

There were a couple of glitched race starts, but today brought some really rewarding races. Working my SR back up after getting bullied around when driving the posers car, finally I was in a place where I had pace AND crucially, my opponents were cooperative in moving up the grid (not interested in overtaking at the entrance to the bus stop, for example!).

What I don't understand is this...
Why didn't they just make this a one-make race from the off? It wouldn't have to be the Supra necessarily, but hopefully they realised before the Dailies started that there would emerge a clear meta car, and as such we could have had a limited-tuning contest instead. I remember in GTS they had a Group 4 Huracán race around Monza, and it was fine.

I think it would be more interesting, anyway.

Hope to see you on track, man! With the right people, this one’s pretty good, albeit short (I’m fine with short but I know many aren’t). I do miss some night time settings though... We’re in Tokyo, come on, man! :D

Not a lot of people will find this interesting or useful but here is my lap in the porsche.

Clearly you can go a lot faster in it but I think I put in a good showing for a non alien with it and very much off meta.

@NAXEHT would be awesome to race mate, I probably won't do many As this week but hopefully we can find the same lobby when I do 👍

Watch the replay back and compare the entry speeds and exit speeds
I always forget this. When I experience it again I'll try to save and share what I mean.

Had this too when practising, so I made sure that it didn't happen during a race.

Just a strange experience to drive 23-24 seconds behind someone for several laps, and after his pitstop I'm still 6 seconds behind. The pit animation takes about that time for the car to come to a halt.

Apart from this some nice racing. Had a lot of difficulty with the bus stop. Once I understood it a little better, I kept finishing in the top 8. One podium finish. Could be 2 podium finishes but I tapped someone who overtook me and braked brutally, so I waited for him to recover to be sure and not be an asshole.

I'm the same.

I always imagined that it took the closing speeds because their animation would play fractionally quicker etc.

There are also some cars that get out of the pits faster due to gearing. @Tidgney did a video on it.

There might be something weird but for example at brands last week, I'd have a good delta but enter the pits from the tight inside line, others wide and sweep cough just cut across cough and they had faster deltas especially if they didn't **** the outer wall like I typically did.

Nine out of ten races has been absolute purified horror. I am so done. No thanks. Nope. Nope. Nope.

(Sorry, I just had to vent.)

Welcome to the party.

Across 3 accounts spanning the US and EU/EMEA this race is a tough one.

I said in my practice laps post this will feel touring car-esque and it does. Add in less than ideal car control, DR thirst it's a recipe for chaos.

Add in the fact people don't bother practicing or doing TT you end up with this sort of race.

I do think this is one of those "be careful what you wish for" things.

The circuit isn't great for overtaking because of the nature of the in field. Makes me think that PD resisted using it for the greater good.

Also unintended consequences, we now have a B race that prioritises over aggressive position taking in 2 hairpins and 3 corners that run out to gravel.

Because a track hasn't been used for competitive racing doesn't mean it should just because.

Especially when it's a one make race dressed as a gr4 race. It's a 2 make race at best but realistically.....

To address your question, short race, technical track, and being a one make race...that is why.

I'm not having much fun there either - I don't think the slightly OTT track limit penalties help, as they seem to lead to some desperate weaving and blocking. Hope they nerf the AWD cars a bit in the next update - one-make races are a bit dull (and I prefer RWD cars)

I did! There's also the 2nd problem, the quicker you go into the pits the quicker you'll come out. I'll be doing a video on it at some point. Here's the one about different times;

Thanks for your thoughts on this. Sounds about right. And kind of a relief to hear that I am not the only one struggling.

Snap! @newmedia_dev
Though yours must be a fraction quicker 🔬

I think I'm done with trying to improve on B though - those seemingly random track limits (I know they're not) a pixel off at the wrong angle seems to trigger a .5 or 1 second depending on how the game feels.
It's my time and I got it first 🤣

In all candidness I haven't enjoyed this week so far but I fall back on my love of TT and chucking road cars around a city circuit has been massively carthaic. I love my racing, but I know when to fold em and chucking a Porsche round a street circuit is fun. I wish this was a TT to be honest.

2:10,457
I was able to get my qt down to 2:10.457 in race A in the Diablo (still far from @newmedia_dev) and then I tried a few races.
In the first race (started from 2) I missed the start because I expected a rolling start and adjusted the BB.
In the next races it went better and I always came in the top five. In the last race the lobby was mixed again

yeah, I gotta agree - I'm enjoying tokyo more as a tt, trying out the different cars. (porsche is also my fav) But my one and , so far, only race, most of us survived turn 1 (hooray!), then everyone went full on rage berzerker through the rest of the first sector. I realize it is only three laps, but must everyone drive so desperate all the time?!

I dunno, I'm a having a great time with it. I've won 6 of the eight races I've had there so far.

My favourite was earlier today. The other two drivers in the top three both got a 0.5 sec penalty for running wide, in the same place, on the same lap, allowing me to zip past from 3rd. I don't know what happened between them, but on the last lap, one of them OBLITERATED the other, handing me the win :D

I'm running with +3 on the brakes. That last chicane, last turn, first turn combo is where all the time is. I think many people are confusing the T1 braking zone as a passing area under brakes. I think it's better to get the last turn 100% right and then making a pass on the straight. Of course, as pictured, T5 is also good.

I'm back at some daily races at Daytona this week. I filled my off time with Astro Bot which is an excellent game.

Anyway, I did some practice laps yesterday and got a 1:46.1XX in the Supra in the end and was pleased with my time. I did some laps in the Lamborghini before I jumped online and almost matched my time from yesterday. So, I decided to race in the Lamborghini just to be different.

My first race had me in P3 to my surprise. I botch the entry to the bus stop on lap 1 and cause a mess. I'm then deliberately rammed for no reason and I fall to dead last. I pit on the end of lap 2 and treat this race as a practice session. Well, somehow I finish P7 even with a few off track penalties. I'm shocked I finished where I did.

My second and final race has me in P2 this time. And once again I make a mess of the bus stop. So I fall to P16 again and hope for the best. I get an off track penalty at the end of lap 2 and duck into the pits as Tidgney did in the weekly race guide. Just by keeping it on track I get to P3 on the final lap, but have a spin in the first hairpin and fall to P4 where I finish. I think I can win one of these if I didn't mess up each time on the opening lap.

Overall a good night of racing despite my wrecks at the bus stop. There were a nice variety of cars in each lobby and it wasn't a Supra one make. I might be able to get into a high 1:45 time since I have the rust shaken off so to say.
