The thing they were trying to avoid is that in the old GT Sport system where SR drops you all the way down (rather than just to the bottom of your DR letter like GT7 does), you'd end up with A DR/B SR drivers in the same lobby as people in their first ever race (since you start E/B) which is obviously not a fun onboarding experience and I think they thought that puts people off.

Random (not very proud) confession:
I did a Sardegna race where I started at pole (mid B), got a good lead on P2, but P2 slowly reeled me in. Surely a good fast driver. At the last corner before the last lap, he came up on the inside, bumped me so I went a bit off-track, and he and another guy passed me. I do assume it was not on purpose, but it would have been SO easy for him, just to wait up for me, as I was only marginally behind. We would both have lost one position. But he just carried on, and my mind just went “Nope, we are not having this.” I T-boned him at full whack at T1. (And yes, I left the other guy out of the mess.)
Afterthoughts: It can be quite mentally taxing to maintain good ethics in the environment that is Daily Races. I guess a key to staing sane is to NOT EVER focus on winning, but only on doing good racing. If there was some good racing, then the race was good. You were bumped down from lead to P13? Fine, have some good racing with P12 and P14.
I will try to work from that perspective.

I've had incidents like that happen, for example several months ago I was doing a B race at Laguna and I got a pole time and P2 behind me pinned he to the wall where you cross the finish line. He purposely planned it so he could pass me and get a win, that's mean. So I gave up trying to get up front of the pack because there will always be that devious driver who will cause turmoil and drama on the track. They'll do anything for a win, I don't like how some drivers treat me, it's like they punt me like I'm an object or a pile of debris on the track. It bothers me. I don't think I've added you yet on my friends list. Maybe by the end of the week, would you mind adding me to your list?

Had a really good series of races this morning at race B.
5 races, 3 wins and 2 2nd places. Some really clean racing as well, I had 2 walkover wins by around 5 seconds, the other 3 were all really close between the top 3/4 for most of the race.
I know there's been discussions about this but in the EMEA region I feel like mornings and evenings are fine, it's that lunchtime / early afternoon slot that is full of clowns?

Hi, I actually didn't win all the races that were my preferred in terms of good hard fair racing neck to neck (except few wins).
I find "cathartic" sometimes a good payback, without being proud of it. After all we're humans. I notice way less dirty moves in DR B compared to C or D (C being actually the worst). In Tokyo I can't count the times I found my self 9th or 11th after the first corner, starting basically always on pole, with a bent car for at least the next half lap.
I started to enjoy climbing back to the top of the field like "let's see what I'm able to get from that initial mess".
It helped a lot on improving my self-control, decreased heartbeat during fights or under pressure. Keeping cold blood allows to make better choices while attacking/defending a position.

Here's my 4th race that I did yesterday morning, someone was riding next to me and I got amused by his decal/logo, it said Van Turismo, xD. Take a look if you want. You can tell by my position that I am struggling trying to get up the top, but the perfection days are over, no more trying to be the best because all it will do is add more stress to your life. Just be yourself.

Ah, GT7 serves another wonderful race!
I managed to find a good rhythm with the Supra now, usually don't like it's twitchy drive but since the update, it must have improved. Anywho, I improved from 1:40:9 to a very low 1:40:6 (could have had a 1:40:4 but anyway lol) and joined my first race of the week in P11...
Immediately, I had to use all my wits to avoid mayhem after turn 1 and ended sector 1 in P8 and looking good, even though I got hit turning left. PS - Same driver is a big part of this story! I catch up to P7 by the end of lap 2 and it looks like I am getting the position on the outside of T1. Nope - Same driver as lap 1 just bombs into me and P7, he keeps going, no penalty whilst I am spinning in the gravel with damage, dirty tires and down to P14...
I let P15 and P16 past as they catch up after I finally get going and just wanted to race in self-pity. Somehow, I overtake 3 cars on Lap 3 but sadly, that is as far as the story goes... 😖

Interesting results, or maybe expected results, at the long, 24 lap race at Spa. I’ve done 5 races totaling ~4 1/2 hours.
In all 5 races, only 8 of 16 starters were competitive, usually 4 DNF and 3-4 at least 1 lap down and, all of them started 9th or lower, with the exception of 2 drivers that started last with no QT.
The top of the grid (1 through 8) all finish either at their qualifying spot or within 1 spot with very few exceptions.
When I calculated average race lap times, the differential was almost identical to the pole position qualifying differential.
It looks like the long race just averages out mistakes and you are how you qualify.

Ya, I'm disappointed with these races that FORCE a pit stop. It very much removes the strategy.
I commend them for adding a race like this. I simply can't partake. Being that I am on a controller, my hands can barely last to the end of a normal Race C before they go numb (because I get tense in tight racing). My hands won't last 24 laps without a break.

For a true race, such as c this week it is a little confusing that the pit is mandatory. Personally, for a race like this, it would have been cool if they offered us all three compounds, put a decent tire multiplier on, and let the chips fall.
Also, wtb a long light into nite race soooo hard!

I hate this game sometimes. Rather, drivers who are just intent to not be overtaken. Was hoping for a nice GT7 session this evening, given up after a few races. Sigh.
One guy, I did a lovely clean overtake down the inside of turn one, he did a cut back, could have easily taken the place cleanly as I left room but he just turned directly into me. Sake. That's just one example as well.

So I’m still a little stuck still as to what to race come the weekend in race B, usually, in case you didn’t know, I stick with the car I put the quickest time in - after not touching the Porsche at all, I managed a 1,41.4xx in one lap 😤 trying to try new cars so this has me going back to the Porsche 😝
Before the Lamborghini was my go to, the supra is fun to drive too, we just saw @sturk0167 carving the field up in the mustang 😂

Anyone using pedals should check their calibration often because PD is PD
I made my second short video on the issue. To resolve it...possibly just unplug and replug the pedals in to the wheel base.
I wish PD would in game say "hey your pedal settings changed do you want to review them"
As a note this is a Fanatec CSL loadcell but it happened (first vid) with my TLCMs as well and my G29 pedals.

Ive noticed that sometimes my deadzone calibration for brake and gas goes to default settings but I never saw that glitch topping the brake input at the same random level. Weird

I wouldn't even dare mess with the pedals because I'm scared my leg may get a cramp when trying to press hard on the brake pedals. I'd rather stick with what I'm using which is the controller. Oh, whenever I finish the A races, my van that I bought, it prompts me to change my tires to soft when I already bought them and installed them, I'll have to show a video later explaining what I mean, I'll try to post it by tomorrow. See when I purchased the Hiace it was already equipped with medium tires.

It's a thing, at least for me. My first vid which is pretty much the same as that has 11k views
But it's a different setup and hardware as well.
Everything is up to date patch/firmware wise.
And this is 2 loadcells and a potentiometer (g29) that have had the same behaviour.
Frustrating, but I think deliberate from PD for one reason or another.

I've been racing the Porsche for all Gr.3 stuff. It started as a mission to stick with one car to see if it improved my abilities with the car. Turns out, it might have worked. I will typically run the gamut trying everything else to see if I can top what I'm able to do in the 911 but keep coming back to it. At the very least, you'd think I could wheel the Supra around DRC faster than the 911 because of the speed deficit. Nope.🤣
To your point, though, they do seem pretty well balanced across the board. The bigger challenge becomes matching a car to your preferences, and that's not a bad situation to be in.👍

Had a good morning at Sardegna, two wins, and a pole. One of the benefits of letting my DD drop to C! Back in B now so it’ll be mid-pack battles rest of the week.
Gonna try Spa tonight. Seems like the NSX is the meta. Anyone running BB on it? Or using TC? These Gr2 cars have so much downforce and grip that they’re very neutral (or at least that’s how they feel to me).

I think this is what makes me reluctant to begin another Race C (apart from ruined hands!), and provides a window into the thinking about endurance online races in general on GT7...
So much of what happens in your race depends on other people. Life in general, and of course my online racing experience in general, has taught me that relying on other people is not good.
Could be a good race and a worthwhile use of an hour, could be a disaster. You'll have very little control over which.
As a fan of longer races, I already tried Spa three times. None of them were boring, most of them had dirty drivers though.
Latest one I started on Pole, ended on P7. I am just trying to be the nice guy which avoids contact at all costs, while others are totally ruthless.
The attempt before I got punted from behind in the last chicane in lap 1 and while trying to reenter the track I collide with another driver and I end up crashing into the pit… now what? Quit? Never. No tyre change obv, 3s penalty for pit lane crossing, BUT this is why I love longer races, I kept calm and raced consistent and ended up on P6 with dead tyres!
So I am enjoying it, driving standards are aweful unfortunately so far.
