There's genuinely trees used as marker points though. The "aim for the highest tree" advice for the Karrusell is probably the most famous.
There is to be fair and I use some shadows (I know I know they move)

There are only 2 trees I use, yours and Nebucs but they really depend on the entry/exit

And I'm not very good at either of those, my wife will tell you.

I dropped my time at Dragon Trail by a tenth of a second to a 1:47.5XX which is cool with me.

That new time has me in P3 for race 1. I cannot control the car and have a hard time not bouncing and sliding all over the track that has me fall back to P6. I make a pass at the cruise ship turn, and am ahead enough that I would think the driver would back out entering the CoD. Nope. They decided to try and shove me aside and I retaliated. And I got the worst of it as I spin and they get away. Not the best idea, but I don't appreciate getting shoved like that. I finish P11 with a clean race bonus somehow.

My next race has me in P5 this time. For some reason I cannot control the NSX again and fall way down the grid. Also got stuck behind some drivers heavy on the brakes in the CoD and that killed my momentum that didn't help. The last lap I make a pass for P8 on the last corner, but the driver I passed had massive understeer and that forced me off track from what I can tell. So, I finish P9 and feel dejected from that one.

So naturally I go for one last race and start P5 again. I manage to keep my spot this time and have a nice race with P4 the entire time. I was on their bumper all race and I force a mistake on the last lap on the cruise ship turn. I hold them off and finish in P4 for a nice end to my eveneing. They gave me some kudos in the post race chat and I responded in kind.

I think my time with the NSX is over as I can't keep up with the Huracans. I probably try and learn to control the Huracan tomorrow and determine if I want to jump back in. It has been getting aggressive and drivers becoming desperate to make passes in questionable locations and I want a car I can handle if things get out of hand.

At Sardegna do you guys also see graphical glitches like flickering trees and trees that change color or is there something going wrong on my end? It happens every lap so its pretty distracting.

Yes, just in my last race 1hour ago. I was irritated by something, i thought a reflection, but then i saw in the upper part of 2trees yellow/white flickering symbols, honestly the left looked a bit like 🌲. It was max. A second and gone. And i missed breaking point a little bit.

In race B, my best time so far is 1:48.272 Subaru wrx. But, i am not doing much quali at the moment, cause I'm in top 3 for the 3rd time and gonna move to DR B again, then I have to qualify again.
The wrx is very forgiving here. Bb +5.
My time in sardegna?? I'm still too embarrassed to announce it. Just did 3 laps and raced.
I like both tracks🥹

Race B
I just did my 2nd training lap in the F-Type and improved to 1:48.134. Bb - 3 to the front. But most importantly, it makes happy driving it.

I did Race C today in Sardegna in reverse. I was looking at the rules, RM tires and RS tires with no minimum number of stops. I started in RM and picked up RS at the end of lap 9.
The race was a demolition derby. I bumped a couple folks off the road myself and wall ride twice once they started trying (unsuccessfully) to spin me out.
At the end I wound up with a one minute penalty that I didn't expect. Penalties were handed out in the race also, and oddly my SR went up. I'm not angry but I would like to know what I did wrong to get the one minute added on. It's as if I missed a second pitstop or something.

1second or 1min?

1 second is for a .5 rounded up which the game does.

1 min as Famine always points out is because of an incorrect pit stop or missed stop.

By the sound of the quality of the racing you describe I'd imagine you did QT on the RS didn't change them at the beginning of the race to RMs and ran two stints on the same compound.

Did you save the replay? I'd love to see it to help explain this issue you had?

QT was on RS tires. I remember switching to RM in one of the pre race menus. I thought of saving the replay but didn't, though if it happens again I will. Most of us who finished got this penalty.
I wonder if it may have come from accessing the pause menu to turn off ABS. I did that on the main straight roughly halfway through the race. I also wonder if sitting in the grass for several seconds may have triggered it. When I hit a McLaren and sent it off track but wasn't given a penalty I decided to wait for that driver to recover before going further. If I ruin their race by accident I'm not going to use that to have any better chance of winning than they do.

Nope, that won't cause any penalties.

Neither will that, although you can't wait to long or you'll get kicked.

The only way to get a 1 min penalty is not to stop or not use all of the specified compounds of tire.

I imagine this was a lower DR lobby?

3 things could have happened

1. You got a .5 for cutting a corner (easily doable on the last lap) and the penalty was 1:00 not 1.00

2. You thought you changed the tires bud didn't to RMs

3. You didn't stop.

I'm guessing it's 1 if lots of people had it last lap pushing easy to pick up half second pens (rounded up to 1 second)

Been enjoying DTS in the Lambo. Set a decent quali time (146.7) which puts me at the sharp end of most B/S grids. Even won a few races!

But is it me or is the kerbing on the exit (right) of the DC a lottery? Seems you can take the same trajectory and be fine or bounce into the wall in the exit?

Lift partially in to it, lift on the exit if you catch the curb. There is a line through is that allows a full throttle exit but you have to turn tight to the chicane barrier.

One sec I'll upload a vid

Edit:

VR Chicane of death, on a fast QT lap I'd take it fractionally quicker but this was pre race TT and not a TT session to find time.

Gran Turismo 7 Chicane of Death VR

Obviously you can launch it here, but the time in the lap is mostly made in Sector 1 and 2 and a conservative sector 3 with a good last corner can overcome "some of a slower CoD"

Thanks for the video. That’s wild in VR!

I am lifting on entry, getting tight to the wall/kerb on the right, but often getting bounced on the exit kerbing. Looked like you had at least one tire on the orange/red (lower) part of the left/exit kerbing as the right of the car was tight to the wall on the left. Maybe I’m not far enough to the left on exit? Will try a lift if I bounce next time.

Why do people keep trying to pass in the first corner at Sardegna?

It mainly happens if someone comes out of the pit, terrible pit exit. You either hope to pass while he is still slow and ghosted or you are basically forced to break hard or (most often) you just crash… the race is still fun, feels like a brand new track for me, but of course a lot of chaos.

Thank you.

It's not so much how you actually catch the curb, because you can avoid it.

I can go back and do a normal bumper/GT replay but there is a very fine gap that your inner tire won't clip the curb and will run on the inner orange paint. It's bitch to hit consistently.

But a lift as you bounce and straight back on the throttle can keep you out of the wall. A wall I've hit many many times from pole 🤣

But you start to really dial in to it. It just takes a lot of muscle memory even more than I have!

Haven't run much lately but couldn't resist Dragon. Surprising how quickly that muscle memory fades...

Hitting that sliver of safety between the kerb and death is like threading a tiny needle while dumb-drunk with welding goggles on. So nice if you get it right, though. Startlingly smooth, almost like you just found a glitch in the matrix. There is no CoD.

I watch folks blast through CoD at WOT and I'm like WTF?? Kudos to y'all, I'm just not there yet. I still have to get past this 'the-harder-I-try-the-more-I-fail' thing through there. Havin' fun hittin' the walls so I'll keep at it. 🤣

Had a good bunch of races last night on b, hopefully I’m past the newbie crash and run types now the weekend is closing in and the serious stuff is starting

You really need to be brave heading through that final chicane, I haven’t once managed to do it flat out, I just keep bottling it 😁

And it’s keeping me on my toes having to do it 4 times, once yesterday I had a 5sec lead and on the last lap I took it so slowly and carefully I almost got caught last corner 😂🤣

Let’s hope for some bangers for Christmas week

Hi everyone. Had time for a few races B this week. Wow I love the flow of this track in a gr. 4 car. That being said, I'm way off pace.

I love the Lambo, but I'm very careful in entering the esses at the start of sector 2. The CoD I don't get in any car. I lose 1 second per lap to the front runners in those 2 corners alone.

I'm starting fairly from the back where life is hard. So many people try to plumply overtake in those last 2 tricky corners of sector 1. In Tidgneys video someone pulls it off, in my recreational lobbies it's a disaster. Yesterday I got bumped out of the race every single time.

This morning I started in P16 (actually releases the pressure for me, you cant lose any more places) in a lobby with a lot of DR A drivers. Could navigate through the chaos and finished P9 because no one actually drove me off. Better feeling than yesterday!

The next 3 weeks dailies have been published this time around. (Not sure if I have them in the right order)

Credit to gtsh-rank.com as always.

I will post next week as normal and drop the other 2 weeks behind spoiler tags

😁 I only saw race b being gr3 (assume) Suzuka which I am not normally very good at but had to look again after this post.

So if I’m right should be DF reverse gr3, spot on, gr4 laguna, nice, then Suzuka gr3, happy to miss 🤣
