Race C this week does look like a good combo for me to do my first try with the long race format, but I may have to split it with Race A. I'm fresh from doing the 1hr endurance race at Tsukuba on the Mazda Roadster, so that may give me an edge on pace at that combo. 🤔
My preference has become the longer races, I seem to get fewer overly egressive drivers but, it’s also nice to throw some strategy in as well.

Oh, boy. The torque surge in the Amuse S2000 starts so early, you better straighten or start straightening the front wheels before you go positive on the throttle. For what should be a nimble car, it's point-and-shoot for this combo. Pew-pew!

Wow Group2 at LM is quite the ride, damn. Gonna be chaos I fear as the car is really frisky at this track. Tried all three for 6 laps each and the Nissan felt best but the time is oddly just not there, weird. The NSX felt terrible but the time was there.... i can't explain it. Managed a 1.41.4 in the NSX but both the NSX and Lexus have optimals of 41 flat, suspect I will need to get deep into the 40's to compete in A rooms.

It’s really odd, I found the NSX the most stable and the GTR really unstable, fast but I can’t get the time from it.

I’m trying to break in to the 1.39’s to compete in my A lobbies. I feel your pain!

Not a bad start to the week, start P4 in my GT movie livered GTR, 3 BMW in front and basically a tale of too many penalties upfront and a very unstable looking BMW

Was very close at the end but bravo to the chasing pack who were clean throughout

Now I can relax and enjoy the weeks racing

When I saw your time earlier I thought you’d have a good time at WG!

I'll jump on again tonight but the GTR was the only one where I could use TC1 and still get on the throttle early, the other two I had to be more tentative. The NSX feels a little understeery to me and a little twitchier than the GTR but the clock says what the clock, who am I to argue. I actually hope it is my quickest as I have always defaulted to the GTR in Group 2 so a change would be great.

You are better than I am extracting pace from the GTR and my leaderboard says the same as you, it’s the faster car I just can’t drive it with any sort of pace compared to the NSX.

This is what makes it all fun!

A good start to the week at Watkins Glen

Immediate panic when I found myself on pole position but luckily the driver in 2nd picked up track limit penalties the first couple of laps to give me some breathing room. The GTP livery helped as well - thanks to whoever created it.

Tried out the leaderboard favourites (M6 and GT-R) but didn't work for me. I'm much more comfortable with the RC F. Sadly I'll be back in B soon where the fun stops, I go straight to the back of the pack, drop down to the C ranks, win a couple, back up to B. My personal never-ending cycle.

I'm back after some time off from the daily races. When The Glen shows up, I need to do some racing there. I started in the BMW, then went to the GT-R and set a decent (for me) time. I did 2 races and had a P4 and P6 finish. Much needed positive results for me. I also managed to avoid the chaos that unfolded around me and gained some freebies up the grid. I'm hoping to regain some DR this week and get into some better splits for the GTWS going on.

Tough night in race C, there's so much argy bargy it is extremely frustrating. Zero patience, as soon as guys catch you they force their way through with side barge passing, it is super annoying.

Managed a 40.8 in the Lexus, thisbis good for lower mid pack in A+/A rooms, so times are red hot. Small mistakes really hurt me in both races, cost me places after being in the top half of the grid, on mediums, after 3 laps in both races.

I am quite fast on the mediums and early on the softa but get eaten alive on worn softs. On a related note (bear with me) I am very fast through the downhill right before the esses and exiting bankiboi, however I struggle through the first few corners of the lap and through reverse spoon. My point? Both issues speak to relying too much on nailing my braking, waiting to square up and firing out like a cannon, so not carrying enough mid corner speed.

Anyways, seems i need to go 8 and 4 because once the softs start to go I bleed time badly. Here's my steed, not sure she will last al week but I like it anyways.

I get better positions being in DRB now but it still doesn’t help me from my own stupidity. I started on pole and had a nice lead on the first lap and then like a complete dingbat I did this.🤦‍♂️

Well, that’s embarrassing. And, just how long does it take to turn the car around again?

Is this dirty air a thing in gr3 currently? I’m noticing not much movement in the places, at least at BS

Just had a race with mixed AB and pole sitter with a QT of 1.44.6 😳 which isn’t unusual at this time of day,

Started P5, caught this BM napping on the first corner so immediately passed him but the rest of us didn’t really move from being half a sec in front or behind?!

I appear to be on a mission to tank my DR.

Race 1. Start 5, end 5. That one not too bad.

Race 2. Start 1, end 13th. You’ve seen the video.

Race 3. Start 6, end 15th. Ho hum. That one I suffered early getting bumped down to 8 after me being the meat of a three wide sandwich at turn 9 that didn’t end well. I worked my way back to 6th on lap 4, but got all tail wobbly at turn 8 and crashed down to 15th. Last lap, I caught 14th who didn’t want to be passed and tried to wack me off track several times, but ultimately took himself out. Unfortunately, at the bus stop I wasn’t composed after that and got a penalty so I ended 15th.

It was kind of entertaining in its awfulness.

Back on track after a "sickly" week, I managed a QT of 1:45.3 at Glen (ideal '45.0) aiming the mid-high '44 by the end of the week.
After the new BoP the BMW (my first Gr.3 before i fell for the Porsche) is waaay less snappy than before; almost "easy" to drive.
Enjoy your racing week guys.

Edit: sometimes you meet a Gr.4 at the gas station...

After this weeks dismal TT offering, I’ve been doing a little racing over the last couple of days. GV was a bit of a bloodbath yesterday if I’m honest and my best race was in the toughest lobby, starting in 15th and finishing 8th in an A+ and A lobby.

Big fan of Watkins Glen though and Race B this week - it’s a bit more my pace than Gr2. Had a few quali laps and landed on a 45.5, then jumped into one race and picked up a podium! No doubt it’ll be downhill from here 😂

As long as wheel and controller users are kept seperate the dailies will be great. :sly:
Don’t try using the Porsche at watkinsglen the understeer feels extremely over exaggerated it puts a real question mark on the physics of the game when a heavier longer wheel based car like the BMW can corner and brake later then a Porsche. The cornering ability of the Porsche is no where to be seen and the top speed was killed months ago. The Porsche should be a contender on this track but I feel it’s been nerfed so hard it very rarely it can compete in top split lobbies.

On a side note the controller just needs a buff to give more brake bias for stronger braking and a slight increase in available steering angle at higher speeds. You can’t take corners with the same speed and hold the same line because you have to wash off to much speed to hold the perfect line in some corners hence were the game is between controller and steering wheel. It’s about a 1 to 2 sec a lap difference based on my experience.

I am a bit doubtful about this one.
While I do know what you mean, I think the correct thing to do would be "applying less steering angle at the same speed" to be faster.
I cant really test this, as I am not consistent enough in my inputs,
and I dont feel like trying at all, occupied with other games that I currently enjoy much more.

I’d recommend watching @Tidgney lap guides for the TT he does gold times on both Wheel and Controller and they are fairly close. There are a couple of outlier cars/combos that slightly favour one or the other but it’s not massive differences.

I tried the Porsche last night, it's never been great at Watkins Glen but it seems further off now than before, usually I use the AMG at this track but even that was further off the pace than before, the BMW has such a strong front end it is dominant through those long corners. I'll have to try qualifying in that this evening.

Controller doesn't seem too bad at the moment (in Gr3 at least), looking at the leaderboard josernbaptista and AHR_James are both on pad and only about half a second away from the WR pace.

Edit: on the subject of Watkins Glen and the Porsche it used to be proper scary in the chicane 😆

This drives me insane. I SWEAR the game is rigged so that when you have an off you're in the most awkward position possible. I never just slowly ease back onto the track, i am ALWAYS facing a wall or backwards etc and need to futs about, losing gobs of time, so annoying.

Had a nice lunch break.

Did race B, qualified with a 1.45.9 from yesterday, in 8th. Got taken out a bit, ended up recovering to tenth.

Spent 8 mins qualifying before the next race, making two small tweaks to my lap I managed to shave 9 tenths off to a much more respectable 1.45.0

Started the next race on pole, won easily despite a 1s pen on the last lap when I was miles ahead! Race win #43, my first in a very long time (admittedly I lost interest in daily races for a bit and haven't done any of the official events for a season and a bit either because of the start times).
