GT7 is the (Ford) Edsel of Poliphony Digital.
I starter the game last Friday and the first question I had was “where are the driving licences” and many “Why”..

True, but I wouldn't really word it as "only". That makes it sound like the game is mostly complete when in reality we have the tutorial (cafe) and about a dozen races. Still no International A/B or Super license content, which has always been the "meat" of the franchise. PP system is still woefully broken. Car/track list is essentially a carbon-copy of Sport, which means the better part of a decade of race and road cars aren't in the game. Economy is getting better but I might only be thinking that because I afk'd my way into almost all of the legendary cars; for those that didn't I'm sure it's still very tight.

I honestly think they only started full development, with the full team, like 18-24mo ago. We should be getting paid to be QA testers since this is clearly a beta
If we had a proper campaign mode we would have the International races which you refer to. The Track list isn't a carbon copy of Sport. I never liked the PP System from its very inception In GT5 I think it was. Yes it is broken. When tweaking a cars power with power limiter or ECU or both you can go from PP 620 to PP %88 with just a 1% decrease in power . So for instance I am tweaking the power and each % the PP goes down one or less points then suddenly it drops 40 PP points eg From 100% Power to 70% power the PP Drops by 1 every step and then when you hit 69% it drops by 40% (This isn't actual but just an example of what I've observed the way PP works) Theres more tracks added to GT7. But I do feel GT7 is very unfinished. I played everything I wanted to play in the game and now I'm done with it. Unless they give us a proper campaign even if its only copy and pasted from GT Sport.

Read some posts regarding the "standart" and "premium" models, and agree with the people who were disgusted by them. IMO those were the lowest points of both GT5 and GT6, because in terms of content, they actually weren't bad.

It was eye tearing seeing those low quality square like cars alongside premium HD cars. Not just about the graphics themselves, but the cars themselves had no detail into their sounds or how they behaved unlike most of the premiums. Literally copy pasted from PS2.

I am glad GT7 did away with that type of stuff. Attention to detail is supposed to be one of GTs strengths, those standart cars absolutely destroyed that.
So instead we just get a copy/paste of GT Sport... Looks nice but I got bored of these cars 4 years ago

@steve30x They already copied everything over from Sport so they could at least temporarily copy the campaign mode over to give us something to do while they finish what should have been here at launch. And also, the performance bonus. Still baffled they didn't bring such a cool feature over. 90% of my time on Sport was replaying the same races with lower and lower performing cars to see what could still win. Even if they cut the performance bonus in half it would still be great. Can still do it in this game, but without an incentive it kind of kills the spirit of the process. Idk, the game has good "bones" but it just pisses me off how little content (especially NEW content) is in this "next gen" game I paid $70 bucks for. They should have just remastered GT4, gave it a modern online component, ported over the newer cars from Sport and been done with it. I bet the reception from players would be glowing in comparison to the dumpster fire user reviews GT7 has.

Mate... They had 9 years to remodel and create cars (aside from duplicates like 30 miatas and skylines and other jdms) add newer 2020+ cars.

Not our fault they were able to do 300 and fake out on another 100. But hey... it's coming. End of April is near and we will have some content. Probably just 5-6 more cars but hey, 5-6 cars per month wouldn't be bad. that's 60-70 new cars over the year.

GT7 failed to be Gran Turismo on so many levels I cannot describe..
The lack of proper career mode is beyond me.. how, why, who..? And main focus of so called career is collecting cars through Cafe.

I miss good old days when you have to carefully chose which car to buy and you have way more restrictions before entering race or cup. In GT7 there are barely any restrictions, and PP is almost pointless.

Dont get me wrong, the game is good and have so much potential to be the best GT.
In multiplayer PP is one of several factors of leveling the competition, as with tires, power/weight ratio or layout. I completely disagree that in GT7 there are bare any restrictions, but PP is completely pointless in single player. The overview in multiplayer and lack of saving settings in multiplayer is also a stupid mistake from one of the biggest PS corporations.

We might get some content. They made promises of updates through April. We had two updates so far and theres no notification of an update happening this week. The last two updates didn;t offer any new content either

There's still another week to meet that "between now and the end of April" promise. Honestly, I don't want to get my hopes up for this week.

For reference, here's where that promise was made:

Since this is a rant thread, I will give my opinion. Im a fan of GT series, but Im sure people expected GT7 to be a continuation of GT1,2,3,4,5 and 6 style of game.

They need to fix the physics. (the oversteer)
Remove the allways online requirement
Make the game install from Blu Ray, not download from internet when installing, or make it mostly from disc and other from internet
No rear view mirror in every camera mode ? This was never changed in Gran Turismo
Make some new tracks in nature, with different themes (like older Need For Speed games)
The game feels to clinical, there is no "main character", no voice acting, no story, make the game more human
No instruction booklet included in the physical release, is this a new trend, for what reason ? More profitable if they dont have to print manual ? More enviromentaly friendly ?
They could have included in the Anniversary Edition at least a book with interviews with dev team, with Kazunori, with development process explained, their goals with GT7, concept art, physical CD soundtrack, etc...

Hate to tell you this, but this is likely unfixable, at least on existing discs. If they never intended to download from the disc, there's no real data on it and there's no way to change this now.

It's an old trend. It started around the beginning of the Xbox One and PS4 console generation. There's digital manuals instead.

Hey, at least you got... a download for 9 of the songs from the soundtrack, a car, and the highest value of all, MTX credits!

So, this is Gran turismo 7 ? Or Gran Turismo 7 Prologue ?

So, i have just completed the cafè-campaign. Now there are only some single races with PP 700 /800 and Gr.3 cars.

So, that's all ? No endurance races? No Gr.1 and Gr.2 races ? Where are my 90's sports car challanges? Muscle Car matchups. Super car showdowns, Vintage car championship ...etc.

And why the hell the all these last remaining races are all with this stupid rules with x10 fuel and x6 tires consumption ? I had more fun with GT Sport....which in fact had more content too, except cars....

I was expecting a TRUE Gran Turismo 7......

The lack of solo content was the most disappointing thing for me. Even making your own custom races pay like trash so you are discouraged from that. They could have just ported over the hundreds of events they added to GT Sport if this couple hour long Cafe tutorial was all they were going to do.

Today i tried the multiplayer section of the game.

Oh, boy.....even worse than the single player campaign.

I mean is it normal to waste x10 times just to search for a working lobby where the creator actually want to start THE DAMN RACE ??

And also why the heck when he disconnects or rage quit, the entire lobby gets kicked in the middle of the race? Why there is no lobby migration ?

I'm speechless, i was waiting GT7 as a proper but, the more i play, the more looks like a beta.

Single player campaign is short and uncompleted, and the multiplayer is broken too.

So in total in almost 2 hours of changing lobby, waiting for this, waiting for that, re-apply filters, re-join.......etc etc i played properly for 20 minutes more or less.

And as the cherry on top, i encountered a j3rk which was hammering everyone with a VGT Tomahawk.

At least fix in a reasonable time the awful thing where every time you get out of a lobby, you have to choose again the filter for searching..

GG PD.

Yes. Failed. And it fails a lot!

In proportional terms, it's the worst canonical Gran Turismo. Basically, the same tracks and cars of its Prologue (Sport) and with a terribly lazy, unbelievably amateur game design.

Because of some unknown reason, since the launch of GT Sport in October 2017, PD has not been able to maintain a high production pace and has only been able to re-release GT Sport (aka GT7) with more 86 cars and three tracks.

The million dollar question: What's going on with PD?

I remember when I bought GT Sport. I played for a few weeks and dumped it. It was "meh" (played GT1 through GT5, skipped GT6). I came back a couple of years later and I had a blast. Golded everything, got wheel and cockpit, bought almost every car, joined a league, and played a lot of Sport mode until they changed the penalty system.

At this point I guess, and hope, it is going to be the same with GT7.

But that does not remove the fact that somehow, they have released a half baked and buggy clone (circuits/cars) of GT Sport which took them a few years to get done. Like... they had many things right, and they broke them and removed content. I love the night cycle and kinda like the weather system, the tuning system is fine, and custom races offer more options. Apart from graphics, that is all I can say is better in GT7 than in GT Sport. The rest is worse.

All in all, without thinking it is very good game, I have enjoyed GT7 until I golded everything. Now it's a "meh" game just like Sport was. And I feel like they are holding content to disguise it as a live service when it is not, and that feels like treason.

I really don't know if I will keep playing GT7 the next weeks (pretty much depends on the next update), but if I dont, I will check it from time to time for sure.

I have faith in PD and think they will end up delivering with time, but I also think that we paid for an incomplete buggy game, and that is not fair.

This game is rushed for sure.

I think it can be amazing in the future but they need to release a massive overhaul update like GT5 did with Spec 2
The game is 100% rushed for sure mate, because PD has lost the plot on how to make a numbered game properly. This game called GT7 is not a numbered game, and it's more like a GT Sport 2 with a lot of 💩 in it that should never appear in a numbered game.
To make this game good again PD should bring back online events like Seasonal & Drift and Time Trials events from GT6, so we can actually do something. Online stuff is just the same as GT Sport, and you would think if this was a numbered game the content would have been a lot better.

You said it can be amazing in the future but I doubt that it will ever happen, unless they make some dam big changes to the game.

This is why I've almost stopped playing gt7. I used to do 150- miles a day, I'm down to 30-60 at most now. I'm spending more time on ACC and AC. Gt7 is really lacking despite being fun to drive and I need to use my valuable time wisely with a young baby now. I'm also still very pissed off about how PD have treated us from day 1 but it is what it is.

There's not even an icon which says to you that the race is already started, lol.

GT7 Multiplayer in a nutshell = Enter a room. Race has already started. Back out. Wait 20 seconds to connect again. Have to reapply filters. Enter another room, race has already started. Back out. Black screen game unresponsive. Turn off PlayStation and give up.

@TwIsTeD_83 @CBH rushed?

It's been 5 years.

The single player events use an editor very similar to the custom race interface. They have some more options, obviously, but it doesn't take that long to set it up. Being generous, they could do the entire single player in a month, maybe two. Sure, the planning and testing adds time, but it's pretty elementary given that they had GTS to work from.

Gt7 for PS5 is a port and GTS has been shown running at 8k (ergo PS5) for years now.

What part did they "rush"?

Bugs happen. Some things are not apparent until a game goes into wide release.

However, they did not Beta GT7 like they did for GTS. They hid the microtransactions from jouranlist before launch. Ghosts replays can't be loaded for the first time in 25 years.

They have intentionally held back content to make their live service feel like more than it is.

What part did they "rush"?
The game and it's called GT Sport them clowns at PD should have never released the game with bugs & glitches, and that tells me it was rushed out to early. PD had their opportunity to fix these bugs & glitches way way before March 4th, and they did absolutely nothing to address these issues before release. GT Sport 2 is a very poorly designed game like GT Sport was, and they call it GT7 more like a GT Sport 2. This game we got now all it is a continuation of GT Sport, and it is not original numbered game.
PD should have made a lot better numbered game for there fan base, instead they cut a lot of corners.
