This is not true for any ultra wide monitor, including your LG.

The PS5 only supports 16:9. The imaged can be stretched across a 21:9 monitor, but the aspect ratio will be distorted.

I stand corrected. The picture does seem a bit flat now but I’m still good with it.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned before, but if you get into the Mclaren GT3 car, and look down at your feet, you’ll find a mirrored-finish floorboard. From there, you can see your head moving up-down-left-right in real time as you move your virtual head within the cockpit
New Corvette gives this reflections on the large TFT screen that's off on your right. This game is incredible.

Something about the real video--camera resolution, filter, ?--looks like it's a game, too LOL
Maybe it's just my screen/eyes.
Its the camera blowing out because its dark in cabin and very bright outside. Most camera sensors just can’t handle that dynamic range. But yeah, totally agree. Cracks me up.

Yeah good call. It just looks like ... not quite right/real LOL
Or maybe more like it shows how close GT7 is, all things considered.

Anyone else notice frame rate issues on the opening GP part of lap of World Touring 800 at Nurburbring?

Not in the World Touring 800 event specifically, but I have noticed the framerate tanking a bit in the first corner of the Nürburgring where the AI tends to pile up.

Hey guys

Finally picked up the psvr2 for GT7 and it’s amazing!

As things may have changed in the last 3 months, is it still not worth enabling 120hz on gt7 then enabling it in the headset options for use in vr? Any benefit to watching vr replays for example, or is the 120hz mode just for cinematic mode?

I know this has been discussed, just want to see if the above is still the case as of now

Cheers

As far as I know, as soon as you put the PSVR2 on, it automatically goes into 60Hz mode, reprojected to 120Hz. There is no config option for VR (that I'm aware of), and although this does lead to ghosting when looking sideways at objects flashing past you, overall it's not a major issue to most people.

I set my tv and psvr to 120 and then chose quality mode in game. Seems pretty decent.

My test of a good GT car (without mods) is the in-game World GT Series Championship of five full-on races. Some cars handle well but don't have the power to take the wins, others, like the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept, have the power but demand extreme car with the right foot (I always race with zero traction control), especially with cold tyres. So today, as I have loads of credits to spend, I thought I'd buy and try my favourite GT6 (the game) car: the Lexus LF-LC GT "Vision Gran Turismo". As expected, and even with restricted power, it makes the races too easy ...except for when you race past the pits in the lead, just before it chucks it down and everyone else pits for wets!

However, I may be late to the party here, but there is no modelled interior for the Lexus LF-LC, so the game sticks your head poking out of an imaginary hole in the roof just above and behind the windscreen. What an utterly bizarre VR phenomenon! Once you get used to it, you see so much more of the circuits' environments from being able to look over the walls, and mixing it with other traffic is fun, but the first few laps driving a car in VR with your head out the roof is just plain weird! ...recommended for the experience, if you have 1M credits spare 👍

Yep, same here. Drove this race now several times yesterday (I need to compensate for last week daily races on the Nordschleife). Frame rate dropped on every race in the first round only.

Thanks to remote play I have unlimited amount of credits to spare 😅

Not bad for an "arcade game" as some likes to point each and every time....
And PsVR2 makes the experience incredible....

Btw, and I accept I may be mistaken, but since some of the last patches I've noticed the "scale" of the cars looks somewhat bigger. More real than before (which was already good but maybe a little smaller). I can at least confirm it on my Golf and a friend Willys... It is the very same scale now and it is amazing

I just got mine yesterday and was playing 4 hours until 2 am. Mixed feelings but overall happy with it. Much more comfortable than the quest 2 and much better image quality.

Why mixed? What don’t you like about it?

Even if they are more comfortable than the Quest 2, still pretty uncomfortable. No information about positions in race, no information about time difference in time trial, blurred cars in the distance, blurry graphics in general, nausea. All the setup in general cumbersome, with the cables, the headset, not seeing anything. It's not easy. But the flat panel feels now artificial to me, not real.

I doubt we’ll ever see the resolution we get on flatscreen, but there is loss in translation Between the human eye and the captured rendering.

Although the video looks fine, “standing” there watching the cars go by(sure, in all its blurred wonder), it can’t be explained without experiencing it. I still shake my head in disbelief of what I’m experiencing.

Something about this race in VR makes you feel like Alonso blasting through the field. 👌
Haven't raced a lot lately but this race was a ton of fun.

Not sure if this is interesting to anyone but I made a VR view overlay on a TV cam replay.
Stock setup, no aids except ABS, hard AI.

Setup wise I think it´s the easiest one of all the headsets that I have used. It´s also only one cable and not cables - annoying when playing free roam games, but a non - factor when it comes to GT IMO.
The nausea will go away I promise.
There is sharpness to be gained by finding the absolute perfect position for the headset. Took me a while to find it.

I absolutely 100% agree with you that it is uncomfortable - I absolutely hate how it puts all the pressure directly on my hairline.
Hope for a revision or something.

It seems to me that with PSVR2, just about everyone goes through the same reactions of initial disappointment with the lack of sharpness; uncomfortableness with the nausea if playing for more than a couple of races; the realisation that lens inserts might be worth the expense if one wears glasses; more disappointment that one might have a duff headset because the screen is definitely blurry at the edges, and should I really be getting headaches after racing for an hour or two?

Then the brain gets used to the fact that it has to cope with all the distances being at a fixed focus of about ten feet (I think it is) and for some unfathomable reason (or not, now you know what’s going on) things seem to sharpen up.

Then you get used to finding the sweet-spot of your eyes being at the correct angle by adjusting the head-band correctly every time you put the headset on (clue: try it with the back adjuster button higher on the back of your head if you still don’t see a sharp picture). You also realise that the black and white button on the "are you holding your controller" is the perfect alignment tool in that if you can see the button without any red or green edges to the white lines then you have everything aligned correctly.

Then, if you wear glasses, your prescription lens inserts arrive and things definitely start to look better.

Then you just get used to moving your head down to look at the gauges instead of moving just your eyes (fresnel lenses will always look better when you look through the centres), but you start to do this without thinking about it.

Then everything comes together in a sort of eureka moment that lasts a week (I know what I mean), and it all makes sense and the VR world now looks properly sharp and I can read the gauges and who cares that the aliens are blurry when I look sideways and when the sun is shining everything looks so sharp that I can’t believe I’m not really in this real car and how the hell did I ever think that flat-screen racing was a good idea?

So yeah, GT7 in VR is not perfect, but it gets better. It definitely gets better during the first few weeks of play in terms of clarity and focus. Yes it’s uncomfortable in hot weather and yes the lenses sometimes steam up if you sweat a lot under the headset. But it’s just such a buzz that it’s easy to forgive its flaws and just settle into the immersion to the point where adrenaline flows through your veins as if racing for real. It’s like a drug - it is a drug; or rather it induces your body to create drugs; the same drugs that real racing drivers experience. Give your body chance to adapt to it.

Very good post. Matches my experience 100%.

Have you guys tried the new online time trial at Le Mans with gr.1 cars? I find it very cool in VR, trying all the old group C cars and the newer ones too with super cramped cockpits. Highly recommend trying if you haven't already.

If you didn't know anyone can access these time trials even without PS Plus and you can rent any eligible car for free, which in this case means every gr.1 car in the game.

Did that yesterday. Used the Mazda and got to Silver in about three laps. That´s as good as I will get. Gold is 100% out of reach for me.
Group 1 is AMAZING in VR. I have a 1 hour multiclass custom race at Le Mans that I do regularly in the Jag.

Agreed. I've already tried every gr.1 car there is and that Mazda is quite strong indeed but I got the fastest lap quite surprisingly in the Porsche 962 C, 3:22.215, which is currently the #1 lap time in the world in that particular car and 67th overall. I like to put lots of hours in these time trials and I know a sub 3:22 is possible because I missed one apex at the Porsche Curves so I'm going to continue pushing until I get that perfect lap. Really like the Nissan R92CP and the Sauber Mercedes C9 too.

Here's my lap in VR. I'm chasing the WR ghost (Sauber C9) with 0,3 sec offset. The only downside is that I have to use the HUD to see if my lap time stays is valid and I've not exceeded the track limits. I normally like to drive without any info because I find it distracting.

👏 Bravo Sir! I can see that I'm going to have to give this a go in order to bring my GT7 racing aspirations back down to earth with a realistic bump ...and I'm not talking about haptic feedback!
