Agreed. I've already tried every gr.1 car there is and that Mazda is quite strong indeed but I got the fastest lap quite surprisingly in the Porsche 962 C, 3:22.215, which is currently the #1 lap time in the world in that particular car and 67th overall. I like to put lots of hours in these time trials and I know a sub 3:22 is possible because I missed one apex at the Porsche Curves so I'm going to continue pushing until I get that perfect lap. Really like the Nissan R92CP and the Sauber Mercedes C9 too.

Here's my lap in VR. I'm following the WR ghost (Sauber C9) with 0,3 sec offset. The only downside is that I have to use the HUD to see if my lap time stays is valid and I've not exceeded the track limits. I normally like to drive without any info because I find it distracting.

You sir are an absolute weapon

Edit: Was just made aware that “weapon” apparently also means idiot in the UK?

Obviously not what I meant.

Amazing lap.

👏 Bravo Sir! I can see that I'm going to have to give this a go in order to bring my GT7 racing aspirations back down to earth with a realistic bump ...and I'm not talking about haptic feedback!

Thanks guys. I've had a lot of spare time to practice over the past year or so.

I've just had a go in the Porsche 962 C and it's a bit of a handful with RH tyres and no TC! I didn't get anywhere near your time, 3:34.1 [...hangs head in shame]. I feel like a beginner again, which I am in some respects. Anyway, I'm totally confused by the track limits. In all the racing I have done, if all four wheels go over the white line then that's a warning. Do it three times and you get a black flag and a quick educational chat. With this online time trial I had to get used to the car and the braking points etc, and frequently had all four wheels over the line without a penalty. In fact I overshot the chicanes a couple of times, right across the gravel, and still no penalty. Can someone please explain the track limits rules in GT7, thanks everso.

That's not bad for the first time. Your lap times will improve significantly for sure once you find the right flow. I recommend checking the top replays and maybe following a faster ghost. You can watch the replays by going to the leaderboards in the time trial menu and select ghosts by going to the leaderboards in the pre-race menu.

The track limits differ from track to track but most of the time you should be safe by keeping atleast two wheels within the white/yellow lines or the kerbs. For some reason however the Indianapolis Curve at Le Mans feels stricter so I always try to avoid touching the line even with one wheel there.

Hi all, long time lurker (member since 2010), not posted for ages. Absolutely loving VR. This is a great thread and I can usually find tips and answers to most issues here. Apart from one... Is there any way of watching VR replays from a fixed position instead of the constant skipping to consecutive camera positions? I'm sure of seen examples of this but can't work out how to do it. Any help appreciated.

I'm not seeing any options to replay other drivers' ghosts from either of the leaderboards. Am I missing something or could this be only for 'plus' members? I've managed to shave two seconds off my time by riding the kerbs, but God only knows were I'm going to find the other ten seconds without being able to study some ghosts. You must be pretty ****-hot to get the time you did.

Should be right here:

You can see that little 'play' icon next to the lap time, that means there's a replay and a ghost available. You can load ghosts the same way but in the pre-race menu.

Ah, thank you. I previously clicked on the fastest lap entry and saw only 'View Profile' - there was no 'load ghost' option.

Don't know if it's the VR, but don't remember being in the top 1000 before, so happy with 1.14.8 at Barcelona Manufacturer's. It wont' last much though.

BTW Is there a way to play with the 2D display withing the goggles? It creates a pretty big virtual screen (you can enlarge it in VR options). It's de 2d view you get when exiting the pit.

The GT Cup today at Le Mans is an amazing race in VR, strongly recommend it! The MFD position in the GR010 is perfectly positioned for VR so you can keep the radar up in traffic and barely have to turn your head at all to get a picture of what's going on around you, or to make changes to braking bias / TC on the fly.

Got 2nd in my GT3 race, definitely recommend trying it out if you are looking for a great VR race

I very occasionally get this view by accident. 😉

I’m never sure what I did to invoke it, but it seems like the game no longer thinks I’m wearing the PSVR2, as when it happened recently I noticed the option to view cars in VR in the garage had disappeared from the menu.

I just did Manufacturer and the experience was both good and bad. Finished first of my lobby, but 80% of the race racing "sideways", off-centered. I was afraid of resetting the view and losing control of the car in the straight. A centering button that wouldn't pause the game is a must.

Also, realized that it was 15 laps instead of 23 when i was in lap 10. I assumed that then there would be no pitting but luckily I saw a car exiting the pit and guessed that maybe pit was still mandatory. We do need more information about what is going on during the race.

Do you use VR for GTWS or the flat monitor? I have no other choice because my monitor died.

I'm going to be using VR in my race later today.

Also, the rules for mandatory pitting are on the event details page as you're preparing to enter the race. I'm not sure if there's any indicator available to TV/monitor users in race, my guess is that there is not. Just be sure to check the rules of the race when entering any online race.

In online play, if your headset is off centered, pausing will have auto drive on while paused. I believe it is not full throttle so you will lose time in the few seconds it takes to recenter your view, but it shouldn't throw you off course. Still very annoying though, I agree there really should be a dedicated button to doing this, I'm wondering if it's even bindable as an option in the PS SDK for developers though, it seems like it's a system wide setting. Would be great to be able to bind at least the only other button on the headset to recenter instead of passthrough or mute mic.

On my G29, holding 'options' for 2 seconds recentres the view, not done it during a live race though so not 100% sure if it also pauses it, but in menus etc it works fine. I sit dead still until it starts lol

I wish there was an option to set the view and it not change, the amount of times I'm looking down or something when loading into the car and it's way off

Yeah, unfortunately in race it does pause. Really, this is the most obnoxious part of the experience, when the countdown is starting I just always make sure I'm exactly facing forward in my exact seating position, but man it's clunky that it's set up like this.
The game sets your position prior to the countdown. It’s when the game goes to the loading screen prior to showing everyone lined up for the rolling start. I really wish we were out in VR mode immediately so we could tweak our seating position prior to the 3,2,1 race start countdown.

I was driving the AMG SLS for Manufacturers event yesterday. It’s one of the few cars I need to adjust from my normal pre race seating position. Super annoying because there is no good time to do it as the race is starting. Luckily I got it about 90% correct prior to race start yesterday.

Huh, thanks for letting me know, I thought for sure it was wherever you were facing as soon as it switches into VR. Guess I've just been consistently lucky about sitting correctly when starting a race

I too think it's where you are looking at the point it switches to VR mode. I find it very irritating if I want to switch the fuel mixture prior to starting the race - I look down to the right, toggle the switches, then it jumps to VR mode I'm not looking straight ahead! Infuriating!

But doesnt it un-center as the race progresses? I would need to correct the center often, like every 5 laps.
I have no problems with it uncentering, if anything sometimes the back strap is a little loose so I readjust it on a straight but usually no, I never have experienced it uncentering otherwise. When racing online I don't have to adjust usually because I always make sure my visibility is optimal and the thing is on tight while sitting in the lobby waiting for the race to start

That might be my unit then... it constantly uncenters even in 2D view in the lobby, if I look to the right or left, it doesn't go back to the same position, the 2D screen is tilted to one side.

Either that or it might not have enough things in your room to get a fix from.

Thank you. I scanned the room again from the middle, I had done that before from the seat to the side of the room. There has been an improvement I think but not completely solved. The deviation is less but still there after around 8 laps.

Have you switched the option on that puts a thick black and white border on you TV screen? I have it on and can play in total darkness with my headset almost at 90 degrees to the TV.

I've made a different observation. I start to position myself when the countdown starts and it always works. Doesn't matter where I'm looking at before. The moment the view switches to VR mode is when the game sets the seating position. So the moment I see the 3 I quickly get in position. It's really stupid and I hope PD changes the approach. Especially because some cars only need minor adjustments and in some cars I really need to get pretty low and then quickly get back into the actual racing position.
But despite all those annoyances I cannot go back to flat. I love VR

Same here. I've had the tracking support (borders) on since day one and actually never had to re-center after starting a race. And I do race in VR quite a bit.
