The temperature in the Lake District (UK) is in the 30s today and yet every GT7 circuit is currently covered in thick fog! ...if only I could work out why šŸ¤” šŸ¤Ŗ

I have a wide nose bridge too, and I find that the pupillary distance of the lenses is not as critical as you might think. I open the LPD until I can't feel the headset on my nose, even though the adjustment tool says it's wide (but still showing blue circles) and I don't notice any drop in picture clarity. The other thing you can try is adjusting the top band such that it sits higher on your head.
Adjusting the headband higher was a huge help. After that I moved the headset slightly away from my nose, and everything felt perfect. I was able to play 2-3 hours straight without issues. I also used your write up to connect my 4 bass shakers and get them working through Simhub. Thanks again for the help!

Yes, I fit the headset in its natural position, raise the rear band to where my head is proudest (in a rearward direction), pop the visor out a notch (because it is now too tight), then tighten the back adjuster. This gives me a comfortable fit and good optics.

Glad you found the haptics article useful. Next on my list to write up (maybe tomorrow) is my cheap harness solution especially for VR users, which gives maximum immersion, stops you moving outside the cage of blindness, and yet still allows you to position your head at the start of the races. Watch this space.

Had my first race around Le Mans in my new Playseat Evolution with my G29. I normally lap the field in my F1 '97 but this time I finished 2nd. I'm about 30 seconds slower with the wheel than I am with the pad. That could be down to the immense amount of rain though.

šŸ˜‚ So you're trying to make a comparison of your pace on controller vs wheel, but you're making any judgment about that by comparing times around Le Mans in the wet on the wheel vs dry on the controller? That doesn't make any sense. Why not just go to Le Mans and run in time trial mode if you want to use that track and want to make a direct comparison?

I'm still slower with the wheel than I am with the controller. It's going to take laps and laps to get up to the same pace I have with the controller

Do you also see a purple artifact in the shape of a square in the center of your field of vision when looking at a darker area, such as the area below the steering wheel?

From what I've read, every headset has them.
For me it took a few days of use to notice it, but once you see it, you can't unsee it :grumpy:

Think I'm getting the hang of it now! šŸ˜

Had a few laps on the Tsukuba time trial challenge the other day. I did improve the time I originally set without VR, but I hadn't done loads of laps before. Still it's gone to silver rather than bronze, so I'm happy. Tried out the C9 round Le Mans too. Not enough to start worrying the leaderboard, but just sitting in that car is awesome anyway.

A couple of offline races yesterday to get my eye in and I thought I'd have a go at Daily A in the Ferrari round Trial Mountain as it won't affect the DR if I mess it up for me or anyone else! Just the best thing ever. Had a great mid-pack battle, the awareness of where everyone is just makes it even more fun than usual.

Had to send my PSVR2 back for repair. It was the buttons of the right Sense controller not responding in game, but you have to send the whole kit in. Tried to press for sending back only the controllers, but no luck. Unfortunate, as 99% of my usage is GT7, so headset only. I've become so accustomed to racing in VR, it's going to be a long 3ish (hopefully) weeks.

Why do you think 3 weeks? I'm in the UK and was very impressed to get it sent to them and replaced all in about 4 days. I believe it went to the Netherlands.

What do you use to keep your VR2 headset clean?
I just got one and following the advice on here I've had great fun using it. But it's rather warm here at the moment and my headset got sweatier than I expected.

I had a similar issue, grip button on right controller wasn't working so I wanted to send it in. Did not find the option so I called the support. "Since the controllers aren't sold separately but as a bundle with the vr it has all be send in together." After about two weeks I got the package back, but they didn't replace the controller, instead I got a whole new vr plus controllers... I hope they don't put the vr in the trash, would be such a waste... at least now everything works fine

I have eventually found time to write-up my seat-harness project aimed specifically at GT7 VR sim-racers. It provides fantastic immersion, helps prevent your head straying into the 'VR cage of blindness', yet still allows you to move your body forwards when positioning your virtual body at the start of each race. Furthermore, you can sit sans-harness without having to move straps and buckles, it doesn't overheat your nether-region on hot days, and the whole thing can be fitted and removed without marking the seat in any way. Oh yes, and it's cheap and easy to make.

PS: if you use a Fanatec McLaren GT3 wheel, look at the photo below and you will see some rubber tubing attached to the two MCS toggle switches. This is to make it much easier to toggle through the MCS options in VR by quickly waving one's thumbs in the general direction of the switches (as opposed to trying to find them blind).

Head's up: Slightly off-topic I know, but there is currently an Olympic Esports Special Challenge on the GT7 home page/map (white box, top-right) featuring a Toyota GR010 racing 8 laps of Deep Forest Raceway. A win is worth 2 million credits and if I can do it on the second attempt (almost on the first attempt, in fact) having never driven such a car on this circuit, anyone can! The AI cars hold their lines come-what-may, but they always brake early into the final hairpin so as long as you don't spin-out, and are happy trail-braking, it's a very quick and easy 2M credits.

The Nurburgring GP pit exit is very bad when combined with VR and pause/reset view. The AI on exit sends me far left accross the white line and gives 3 second penalty. And the reason I was pressing reset was because the view went completely off while in 2d mode in the pits.
I think it will be easier for PD to fix the AI pit exit bug than the view jumping out of position in the 2d transition. But I hope they fix both.

I'm always looking down at the fuel setting at the start of a race. It has never reset the VR doing it.

you might be glancing rather than tilting your head a lot maybe. in 2d looking up at the far corner where the lap counter is I think is enough to sometimes knock the allignment out.

I'm gradually getting nearer my pad times with my G29. I'm down to 5 seconds off at Le Mans and 10 seconds off my Nurburgring Endurance times.

Edit. I'm now 5 seconds off pad pace around Nurburgring Endurance, no improvement at Le Mans as it rained and rained and rained. At least I can keep the car on the track with the wheel in the rain now though. It had been proving difficult to do that before.

I might not have ever clicked that event if you didnā€™t say what you said. Quick and easy $2M. Events like this are exactly (obviously) what this game generally lacks so badly. Took me a few tries mostly because the AI dumped me twice LOL

I based this on their website indicating that they attempt to turn around repairs within 14 days of receiving them.

In fact it was quite a bit quicker than that.

June 5 - Sony customer support contact and return authorized
June 7 - Return shipping box delivered to me
June 9 - Return delivered to Sony
June 14 - Replacement shipped by Sony
June 15 - Shipment delivered to me

So 10 days (8 without a headset, since I didn't ship it out until day 2), start to finish, with a "new" headset and controllers shipped to me rather than any repair to my original set.

Iā€™m all about the most realistic GT racing experience as could be expected. The VR2, wheel and pedals get me there. It took several 2 & 3 hour custom races to get used to the headset (almost like a helmet), the car physics/race craft in 3D, car telemetry/gages in cockpit, and using my windows and mirrors.

I love endurance races and so far, this is a blast. Zero problems, no sickness or crashes. I break often when I pit. I set refuel rate to 1 liter per sec. Gives me plenty of time to step away. I can stream podcasts in the cars via Spotify integration which is nice for practicing.

Having said that, I feel like my driving has greatly improved across the board. My inputs are very different. Instinct takes over in 3D. Rarely will I spin out or break traction now. The sound is tuned to a real cockpit perspective. Itā€™s like living the races I watch on TV. VR2 is absolutely worth it and unless I'm tuning, I never bother with 2D. It almost feels like an arcade game in 2D.

I literally smile while Iā€™m driving. PD put in some serious work to capture that realness of the AI cars attitudes over bumpy surfaces. How the cars bound over curbs(kerbs). The way cars fly off track and make contact with other cars. I mainly do Group A recreations and that hard suspension look, seen in the real life videos, are captured as I look left and right at the other cars. As much of the VR replay I watch, itā€™s replicated so well. Truly unbelievable how real PD make it look, to my eyes.

Going off what @Dogwolf77 said itā€™s like putting on a virtual helmet! Got back into league racing and when I tell you thereā€™s nothing I can put in word to describe the sensations Iā€™m getting throughout the raceā€¦ Itā€™s a super formula season, hour plus races, full damageā€¦ the whole 9 yards! To actually feel like Iā€™m in a formula car using my mirrors to navigate through traffic, the loud exhaust sounds screaming in your ear, sparks flying everywhere, and the driving view you get in VR is pure bliss! I feel like I need racing harnesses to keep me stillā€¦ Iā€™m leaning forward and to the sides crazy lol. VR opened GT7 up crazy for me, to watch the replays now gives me a whole different feeling.. when I watch myself pass somebody in the replay I instantly go back to the VR perspective and it makes the moment so much more realistic. Itā€™s like ā€œyeah I remember that I was thereā€ when you race at different tracks you really appreciate them that much more in VR and I love it. With more improvements we can only go up from here!

It's so great to know others are loving the "full experience" and in the same sort of style as I; like @05XR8 and @JDMKING13. I'm betting if the VR drivers were racing separately in Sport mode, there would be very clean races. Maybe some contact here or there but the tendency would be dramatically reduced. But, I also believe it would be some close racing. I'm like @JDMKING13 , I'm leaning and looking all around. Except the steep banking turns at Daytona. Looking over your left shoulder its just all track and it seems like you can reach out and touch it.
