GT7 & PSVR2

Remember when you could link up multiple PS3 and game discs to make GT do multiscreen.
I would love this for 2x PS5 with each console providing 1 eyes worth of GT7 VR.
I certainly would buy a spare PS5 just to do that. And another copy of the game!
I wonder how hard it would be for Sony/PD to do that?
Obviously the benefit would be by halving of the screen area for 1 PS5 to focus on, I am sure it could maximise the pixels and frame rate to what the PSVR can physically do.
Or they can hurry up with the Pro...
Then I could want 2xPro....

As I understand it, the PSVR2 is capable of running at 120Hz …properly; not interpolated. So whilst better console hardware might not make for a higher display resolution per se, a higher true frame rate will almost certainly sharpen the picture up for anything that is moving, which is just about everything when one is racing in VR.

Edit: also, better console hardware will also allow for better ray-tracing, better rain effects and better physics calculations. And imagine every AI car acting like Sophy. Obviously I have no idea what Sony are going to do, but in theory the potential is there to make massive VR improvements whilst still using the PSVR2.

Edit, edit: I’ve just read BWX's post in which he says the same thing I’ve just said! Sorry.

Good post. The potential speed bump I see, is if Sony will still allow GT7 to be knee-capped by the PS4. Honestly, I would have thought we would have been well on our way to PS5-only updates by now -beyond Sophy and PSVR2. But selfishly, I’m hoping they cut the umbilical cord sooner than later.

There's got to be a future update to sit in the back of these vehicles. Such a waste to render all this work and not have a really good look around it all.
Would be nice to lift the the bonnets and boots too.

I’m shopping a broad range of real life cars at the moment: NA-NB-ND MX-5, Polo GTI, MINI-MINI Cooper S, MiTo, Swift Sport, Liberty(Legacy) wagon,

Tried those car in game. Before I bought them, I used the VR showroom.

Driving those inexpensive cars is the real Gran Turismo experience. ;) If you’ve got an NA Roadster, I bet driving it in VR( remember to use a fan) will make you smile, as you feel the warmth of the sun on your face. 👍
I've only driven the cooper s but it's a blast for short journeys.
Sharpness isn't so much the problem, I think people praised the colors and all that a bit too much in the videos I watched and internet posts I read. Ultimately it doesn't look like it's much better than my monitor, everything in the game looks kind of dull in a weird way. I feel like that's down to the game itself though? Maybe there's some settings I haven't found.
I think the hazyness makes it look more real. Also if the graphics were as sharp as non VR, I'm guessing at a lot more people feeling ill.

Oh I absolutely love it.

I was making fun of him. Not a fan of making bold announcements trying to get a reaction out of people. The use of the word "finally" specifically...

I also think people like him make a PSVR3 less likely. I actually think Sony feel like they burned their fingers here already.

If anything we should celebrate PSVR2 - because who knows if there will even be a PSVR3.
I purchased mine mainly for GT7.
If no more games come out, I would still keep it just for this game.
Everything is better in VR.
licences are no longer boring to complete and my racing has improved.
Online racing though, in VR, is only on this device for console and it’s awesome.

In many ways when I look at PSVR1. I have kept that for 4 games.

Skyrim,
Dirt rally,
Wipeout,
Hitman.

One more racing game though on psvr2, fingers crossed.

F1 or a dirt game would be perfect.
Also on a side note
Medieval dynasties looks promising.
Funny I actually called GameStop to try to get rid of my PSVR1, since I only used it for GT sport, and they would only buy it for $25 bucks lol...said that they actually send PSVR1's to a warehouse for stuff that will end up as E-waste.

I bought the PSVR2 and GT7 and love it and only play gt7, I actually havn't played GT7 outside of VR mode. Also got the DD base and need to upgrade the wheel but it's great. Am still on the fence for a shifter, would probably only use it for WRC games

Yeah, the shifter in VR is a lot of fun, can't use it in sport mode though so just be aware of that. But a ton of fun in single player, and I'm pretty sure you can use it in multiplayer lobbies, but can't confirm it for sure.

I've heard this and haven't made it too far in the game, only 40 hours since march, stuck on the S - License test at monza. The Wheel will probably be next then the shifter. I feel like i might hit up sport mode late...in like a yr

I have found the more I play it the better it looks in VR.
I think I have just adjusted.
Played it flat again, after a few weeks in VR, it looked amazing in 4k. Very sharp and clean image but flat.
VR is vastly better though as a racing experience. Gameplay always trumps graphics for me.

How would I improve it though?

I would like to have the option to drive near the pit lane and have a digital pit board appear.
This could have lap number, car infront and behind gap.
I am not a fan of the on screen overlay that shows lap number etc.
in VR, I like just the dash board no extra overlays.

Great minds an' all that. I suggested exactly the same thing in a previous post: an 'overlay' pit-board that appears in a configurable position each time you drive past the pits. The more i do the longer races, the more I would like to see the gaps to the car in front and behind.

Yes, it looks amazing in 4k, even on fiat screen. That's the reason why I got back to flat. After months of playing almost Daily in VR I got rid of it. At some point it made me physically uncomfortable:

  • constantly having a big thing on head, sweaty under the rubber
  • no view of real world, I had no idea if someone was in my surroundings and wanted something from me
  • foggy lenses at certain weather conditions. Putting it off and on to wipe out the fog
  • pain in eyes after longer sessions
  • problems with sleep if played at night
  • mura effect
  • bad graphics
  • two annoying bad green pixels visible in darker sceenes
  • purple square in the center in brighter scenes (redlection of eyebals)
  • no possibility of turning of the hud by a button
  • constant need to correct the sitting position, after every pit etc.
  • bad positioning of googles, I was thrown from the game often, because headset couldn't track the surroundings
  • 110 degrees view, black edges of vision

The perception of beeing in the car was well worth it. This technology has a potential. After months and hundrets of hours played I had enough. Last two weeks I play only flat and sometimes I miss the VR experience but then I recall my red eyes and sweatty forehead and I don't regret selling it.

I'm waiting for PSVR3 or maybe PSVR2 V2 if they improve this technology.

I would guess from your list that your headset is damaged. I only suffer from sweaty head. I get none of the issues you've mentioned.

Has anyone noticed after last update when you reset head position during online race the revs now drop/cut out?
I dont know if this is a sound fade out or actual rpm drop I am going to try and see on a replay.
If its a real rpm drop this is bad for VR users and quite a sporting disadvantage.

In regard to my above post, been doing some testing and it definately cuts throttle and rpm while doing the reset position button.
Its like a penalty slow down.
It didnt do that before.

I'm just glad the normal seating position is good enough for me, trying to change it in game is very clunky and error prone, and frankly annoying. At the start of every race or when I'm about to pit out I just do a quick posture check and rest the knob of the back of my headset on my chair so I don't have to ever deal with the clunky reset position implementation.

Would be excellent if you could just bind that button to the passthrough button like how you can bind it to mute mic if you want.

Apparently there is a beta ps5 update software that improves vr according to some but makes no difference to others. Anyone here on ps5 beta?

Ps5 PRO will release on 2024, december. I am eager to see graphics improvement for the flat version, and especially VR.

You gotta remember how much better GT Sport looked on PRO vs the regular PS4...

Will have to see when pro is launched. Mainstream media is saying new PS5 is launching next month. It has removable disc drive. Not claiming extra performance though

Yes, this the new version, not slim but smaller. Pro should be the next one, next year. Same guy that leaked this new PS5 version said this

How often do you change it mid race? The last image before the race is when it sets your position. I hold the wheel and look straight between my arms during this image and it's good for the race.

Not much. Sometimes after pitstop. Or soon after race starts for a small adjustment.
Depending on the car with the normal view I am not that comfortable with I will want to do several corrections. This is to do with being too close to the wheel, not from any kind of view drift or wrong angle.

When you turn on the vr and do the stay seated bit, try moving your head forward a couple of inches when you set the circle.

This didnt seem to help in GT7 after just trying it. I moved right to the front of the circle then pressed to continue.
It might work when doing a new room scan/circle position.
Edit:
Had another go went really far forward and managed to move the circle forwards. So when sat back in chair I can control my head to be right at the back of the circle or out of bounds (set to low sensitivity). Even doing this GT7 puts me right up against the steering wheel too far forward. I move my head a few mm back and its out of bounds. So its a GT7 issue.
Which can be mitigated by using the reset position during the race. But as I said earlier now when using it the engine cuts out.

So to conclude no matter what your play area is GT7 will decide where to put you in the car. And it chooses unwisely.

I don’t have a wheel and rumble seats and a stereo, etc. However, outside of a real car, at a real track, it’s just impossible to get a much better experience than this, in a console game. Haven’t stopped smiling since getting my virtual legs.

Imagine racing these with the RX7, M3, Cosworth, Skyline as a daily race.

When you scan the room, are you doing it standing up so it's easier to turn around? I've only done it from my driving seat.

It seems every time you're put in the car, it is a slightly different distance from the wheel. Not enough to need adjusting but enough to notice.
