I'm wondering if the ideal future solution is to have a full racing suit (and shoes) with small built in haptic devices all over and calibrated to the simulation.
Ubisoft is releasing a haptic vest that will be compatible with Assassin's Creed Mirage. They're not making it but it will have Ubisoft branding on it.

I have just turned my engine and transmission down and tyres up, makes a good sound feedback difference, got nice new road surface sounds I didnt actually hear before. kerb textures, concrete section on deep forrest.
Hopefully I will now learn to use the tyre screech at grip limits
to improve performance.
I've just turned my engine noise down to -4 and my tyre squeal up to +4, leaving everything else the same. The engine noise is still plenty loud enough to hear what it is doing, and all the car's internal sounds now seem louder, not just the tyres ...possibly because the engine is quieter. The squeals are indeed easier to hear, but in a very fast one-hour race, I wouldn't say that it's telling me anything that my GT Pro wheelbase isn't already doing, plus I have full-rig haptics. That said, the additional feedback isn't doing any harm, so I will leave it like this for a while longer and see if it helps long-term. I guess every little feedback must help, even if on a very subtle level.

Supposedly AMD will be introducing FSR 3 to consoles. I wonder if that could up the performance in VR. And combined with a PS5 Pro? That sounds great. I think those take priority over upgrading my belt driven wheel.

Yesterday I tried flat monitor again, and the feeling was that I was moving the video of the track, to suit the car, not so much driving the car. I dont know if that makes sense to you but it felt really strange and not immersive at all.

i got a curved screen that i go back and forth with only for WRC games and gt sport and i still enjoy it.

Actually broke out the ps3 and have been doing b spec races on the main TV and its been amazing.

Interesting and that F1 is at monza this weekend. I’ve literally been stuck on that track for s-license test and only played gt7 in vr, seeing everyone’s helmet cam immediately brought me back to my VR experiences for the last 2 months. i really like that about having the VR experience and actually relating to someone else driving without actually coming close to dying:)

Is there any other racing game planned for PSVR 2? I can’t play without VR anymore for obvious reasons, but I also don’t want to play Gran Turismo for the rest of my life :)
I would pay for a PSVR2 VR patch for Assetto Corsa, the original one, and I bet most of us would,....its a 10 year old game that PS5 and PSVR2 could run at full rez 120 with no reprojection. I played it recently on my VR in cinema mode, massive  but its still a great game, handles great with excellent FFB. Just give us what they can if licensing is an issue, Id still pay 20 quid easy. Pity its highly unlikely :banghead:

Nothing that we know of. The new WRC game was announced yesterday without PS VR2.

I think a lot of us are in the same boat now. Before VR2, I hadn't much touched GT7 for months. Since then, it's the only racing title I use. I don't want to only play GT7 for years and years, but I also have no desire to play the other stuff on flatscreen anymore.
That said, I can't believe that this is all we're ever going to get. Maybe it's delusional to think Codemasters/EA will finally drop F1 in VR next year, but I'm holding out hope that the Assetto Corsa 2 devs see the value in doing so.

I'll gladly play GT7 in VR for years despite Gran Turismo never having been my go-to "sim". It's just such a pleasure to experience a racing "sim" in VR without all the fuss of PCVR. When I was on PCVR I had EVERY SINGLE VR sim but pretty much only played ACC and DR2.0. It's tough to mix sims unless you have lots of time on your hands. If no one is going to add PS VR2 to their games, so be it, GT7 it is for the foreseeable future.

I don't see EA making F1 nor WRC compatible with PS VR2 in the future. The VR implementation of F1 is pretty poor, which points to EA not putting in the effort to optimize it. If they don't want to optimize it properly on PC, a port to the strict PlayStation environment is totally out of the question. WRC will be even harder due to it using Unreal Engine which is notoriously terrible for VR performance.

I am glad we have a quality VR game in GT7. It's really an excellent implementation in spite of the glaring lack of certain functionality (race info, for example). I am worried that it seems to have been abandoned but even if it stays as-is it's still an excellent VR game.

Here's to hoping that future titles embrace PS VR2, be it AC2 or GTRevival or whatever. But as long as console sims continue to shun PS VR2 for whatever reason, I will continue playing GT7. It's so well done and easy to get into. It's still early days for PS VR2 so let's hope that maybe 2024 will bring another triple AAA title to the PS VR2.

Agree with all the comments, I sold a Rift S (PC2) for PSVR2 (GT7) and not going back. Super polished plug and play experience, no wasted time on setup, driver update etc...

Our best hope for another quality title like GT7 is... GT8.

If a big company like EA/Codemaster is skipping PSVR2, who else can support it?

VR is still very niche market, Sony has to support smaller studio like Bugbear (wreckfest) to add psvr2 to their current/next title.

To be fair, ea has been coasting on it's laurels, for at least the last decade. They are the last people I would look too to do anything innovative, or interesting, or well, for that matter. I think VR's slower adoption can, in large part, be attributed to the options prior to psvr2 being graphically interior. Personally, it's been a 10yr wait to purchase something which finally didn't suck. The other part of vr adoption is less relevant to how we play (driving). This is locomotion, again personal opinion, but until someone offers a viable, multidirectional treadmill, non driving games are going to be challenging.

Anyway, due to people here speaking so highly of ACC's physic’s and force feedback on wheels, its the one I wonder the most about.

GTRevival is also an Unreal Engine title, but on the other hand… Is UE so bad for VR? Pavlov, Firewall Ultra, Horizon Forbidden West all of it uses Unreal Engibe and works great in VR.

From what I have gathered over the years it's the graphics optimization techniques of Unreal combined with the complex physics calculations and having to render so many other cars that makes Unreal difficult for car games.

The titles you mention I believe are all FPS games, correct?

MX vs ATV Legends is running on Unreal 5. I wish this game was available for PSVR2, there's some pretty interesting physics going on. I think they could make any type of racing game with it. Motorcycles in a GT game with PSVR2 would be pretty cool.

...and you think motion sickness is bad in a virtual car 😳 🤢
Oh yeah it would be a vomit inducing game but I don't get motion sickness too bad. Maybe if they stabilized the view somehow, like with a helmet cam or something. I'd play it though!

There´s always hope, but I think it´s pretty unlikely that we get a 3rd party mutli platform racer on PSVR2.

PSVR2´s install base seems rather small and I don´t see anyone going the extra mile here.

Don´t think it makes sense business wise.

Sony dedicated team should be responsible for this, unfortunetly cant see it happen.

Oh don't get me wrong--if GT7 is it for however long, then I'm fine playing GT7. I just meant ideally (obviously) someone at some point will provide another option or two. It sucks that F1 seems like the game that's most unlikely to reach VR2, because it's the one I want the most.
