GT7 & PSVR2

New VR has arrived today and I obviously had a faulty unit before. I was using it for 4 months and wasn't aware, that it was faulty... There is not a single problem with the new one and I've played today 3 hours.

My first PSVR2 was my first VR ever so I wasn't sure, if the problems that I had with it were normal or not. And I hadn't any friend who would own a PSVR2 with whom I could have compared our headset.

I wonder if Sony has different subcontractors for manufacturing screens, because the previous one had so bad mura effect and some stuck pixels. In the new one mura is almost invisible and no stuck pixels. And my eyes don't hurt anymore. With the old headset it seemed as if the lenses weren't 100% straight. Maybe that was the reason of pain in eyes.

I'm back on SPA, still 70 milion needed for missing cars to complete the collection.

For those doing daily online races in VR, I discovered recently the VW GTI VGT for gr.3 races. It is a roaster convertible without A pillar obstructing your view during cornering. It only has 2 side mirrors, no central one, but the front view is really great and provide a surrounding awareness advantage.

I found in some tricky corner, that you need to move your head because of the A pillar to keep a clear look at the apex, like the ford gt meta car in last week race c at deep forest . This is never a problem with the Vw VGT

Still absolutely loving my PSVR2. It's the only way to play GT7, and makes up for a lot of the shortcomings of the game. That said, I really am hoping for many more titles compatible with PSVR (driving games and others) to make this that much better.

That said, I am having an issue with mine, and it's one that has persisted since about the first week, I just haven't felt like losing it for the time it takes to send it in for warranty repair.

The problem is that sound goes out in my left earbud, and it can only really be brought back by moving the headset/viewer back and forth (like you're adjusting it snug to your face) until the sound comes back in. The plug for the earbuds is a wide connector on the top of the viewer on the left side above the upper face seal, but wiggling/adjusting it rarely makes a difference, and moving the headset back and forth is normally the only way to get the sound to come back.

It seems like there is a contact issue. Almost like there is something on the connections that is "worn off" as you slide the headset in and out, as the sound crackles back to life after a couple cycles and usually stays good for the duration of the session (usually 2ish hours).

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Other than that the headset has been flawless.

Sounds like it’s broken. I’d get a replacement.

If it's in the budget, the Playstation 3D Pulse headset is great, and you don't need to plug it in to PSVR2. I find that the way it sits, it also supports a bit of the weight of the headset.

Additionally, if you have a pair of gaming headphones that plug in, you can plug them into your DS controller. Prior to PSVR2 it's what I would do once folks were upstairs for bed and ALWAYS for a race.

If you already have a pair, give it a shot.

I would rather go this route, insted of sending the VR for replacement. I had two of them and saw how much different they may be. Especially mura effect on the first one was awful. So as long the visual aspects are fine, I would keep it. You never know if they repair your unit or they send you a refubrished replacement.
I also use Pulse 3D, convinient, good sound quality and 3D effect. And as mentioned, it holds VR, so there is no need to tighten the VR's strap to hold it in place. 3d Pulse is sometimes very cheap on sales.

Buying expensive headphones is certainly not the fix for a faulty headset (I could get a free replacement for) I would choose, but if I was to go down this route I’d wait for the new wireless earbuds as I find PSVR2 + the pulse headset to be really clunky.

I actually have this exact same problem, although mine came up recently instead. I believe the wide connector on top of the visor conceals the plug for sound (circled in red), which seems to wiggle itself loose on my headset after repeated uses (sliding the visor in/out). Unplugging this and replugging it has returned sound to both earbuds, but I have already had to do this more than once, and expect that this issue may arise again. While this has served as a tentative “solution” I do plan on eventually sending the headset in before the warranty expires.

Hi !
IDK if it´s only me, or if it just some kind of mental placebo, but since PS5 8.00 update something has changed on the headset.

I´m not saying something has changed ON GT7, but on the headset itself. It has been updated today and in my opinión it has something to do with saturation or gamma on the screen. It has more contrast and a more "solid" picture now.

Please excuse my lack of english, since it isn´t my native language, but in any case that´s my perception atm. The same happens on No man´s Sky and Synth Riders, to name 2 examples. It´s the calibration of the headset itself.

And yes, here may come the probervial placebo, but the DB5 crome shines even more than yesterday on the TT...
:D

Yeah. There was a firmware update for the headset. Maybe they changed some hdr stuff.
Looks good though.

EDIT: spent some more time with it. They definitely did something. I think the reprojection might be improved?
The image looks way more solid now.
You can really see improved readability on roadside signs for example.

Very cool.

Am I missing out on a lot? I am just using the standard headphones which came with the VR.

I have some good Bose headphones but I don’t want more heavy gear on my head :)

I'm the same and they're decent enough. Not as good as my headphones, either, but they immerse me well.

It comes down to if you want to wait potentially a month for them to send another one.

I'd buy a decent set and plug into controller, or go wireless like yiu say.

The supplied buds are barely adequate imo.

Yes, I think you're missing out. I bought a Arctis Nova 1P 7.1 Gaming Headset which is wired, so it's very light and has no batteries or charging issues, and has very good sound quality for its £40 price-tag (when I bought it). It fits very comfortably over the PSVR2 and does not add any noticeable weight even though it obviously weighs more than a set of ear buds. I plug the headset into my controller, which I have sitting on a mount next to my wheel. I can wholeheartedly recommend these headphones.

As for the firmware update, I noticed this when sitting down for my pre-work early-morning race this morning, but did not notice any changes to the picture quality. That's not to say there weren't any, just that I didn't notice any.

Yes..., the headphones that come with PSVR2 have horrible sound quality...

A good wireless headset its better, or instead if you have a good headphones plug them to the Dualsense instead of the VR headset...

People can turn of PSVR2 controlers to play GT7, it helps with tracking problems cause you can put both far away from your play area whitout triggering the borders warning.

On the stock headphones, sound quality depends on them getting a good seal to your ear canal. I use this type of headphones extensively as a musician. If they don't seal, you get zero bass. Also check the opening on the earbuds, make sure it's free of earwax.
Most in ear headphones don't seal intoy ears. The PSVR2 ones did, though, and sounded amazing. I still got the Pulse headset for the simple fact that Mickey Mouse style headphones always work, earbuds usually don't, plus I'm not shoving anything potentially infected into my ear.

I got the razer hammerhead hyperspeed for that reason. Sound is very good. However, battery life is really bad. They only last about 2,5-3 hours. So at longer sessions you need to charge them in-between races.

So, the update has improved the image quality, it is now sharper, smoother and there is no laggy focus shifting by eyetracking. Nice
I’ve just read through the update notes reported on pushsquare.com and the only mention of the VR2 in the long list of PS5 improvements is:
  • We've updated the device software of the DualSense wireless controller, DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation VR2 and PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers to improve stability.
No mention of image quality improvements. I’ve just completed another race this evening and I’m still not noticing any change in the picture, which is still very good.

There's always some amount of placebo posts after any update, I wouldn't be surprised if it's happening here too, especially since these improvements can come from just positioning the headset a bit better.

That's intersting, and makes sense. I've never been able to use earbuds of any kind for any length of time. They always either fall out or else are very painful (small ear canals I guess).

But these PSVR2 earbuds are the first ones that fit into my ears and are also comfortable for extended periods of time. Maybe because there's no cord hanging from them? I use the smallest rubber adapter. I always clean my ears out thoroughly before use even if I just did earlier in the day. And these earbuds sound fine to me unless I try to crank volume and then they distort and sound harsh. At mid-volume levels they sound fine to me - not great, but totally acceptable. I'm not an audiophile bro or musician but have spent way more on home theater audio equipment for my income level than is remotely responsible and have built my own speakers, and installed crazy complicated car steroes and just basically a geek with that kind of stuff for my whole life, so I am kind of picky. If they sounded bad to me I wouldn't use them.
