DAMPER DISCREPANCY?
I would like clarification over the particular damper adjustments used in the "Reduce Corner Entry/Exit Understeer/Oversteer" adjustments. Your on-screen pop-up description is not ambiguous — I'd be really surprised if I've been misunderstanding how to use them.
(...although having "less understeer" and "more understeer" written right on the main page, each one corresponding to the appropriate + or the - button, would eliminate the need to click the "?" to remind me which direction does which...)
Anyway, here's the weirdness: the in-game "manual" on damper adjustment instructs us to adjust the dampers differently than your app adjusts them.
To confuse things even more, a third source I've used in the past suggest yet a third way to adjust the dampers for a particular outcome.
Take
"reduce corner entry oversteer" as an example.
In the app, for the Gr.4 Porsche Cayman, front compression is reduced & rear expansion is increased.
The in-game damper adjustment recommendation is the opposite for front compression, increasing both it and rear expansion under their written heading "entry oversteer."
My third resource (not the app, not the in-game manual) actually does the polar opposite of the app's adjustments for
Reducing Entry Oversteer, offering what reads as a logical rationale for their suggestions:
- Stiffen front compression
- → Slows front-end dive, preventing excessive forward weight transfer and keeping the car more balanced.
- Soften rear expansion
- → Allows the rear suspension to settle faster after weight shifts forward, keeping the rear tires more planted.
The app, as I mentioned, adjusts those same two values but in the opposite direction for each.
Should I ignore everything else and trust the app?
If so, is there anything you might say to support that suggestion?
I'm inclined to go with what you say, as you've created an exceptional tool in this app. I just want to know why there's all this damper discrepancy.
Thanks in advance for your reply, and thanks again for making this great app.
