I've been shot with it twice. The first time I was shot was in the first 20 minutes I was online after it was released. Noteworthy in part because of how little time I spend in populated lobbies. And by most accounts, I'm not exactly a warmongering character.

I'd say that in populated lobbies, I get shot with it an average of once every 15-20 minutes based on the data so far.

I have a few questions about the orbital cannon.

1. Can people kill you while you're on your yacht with defenses on?

2. Can people kill you with it if you're the VIP in an executive search game?

3. Do you click on a person's name to kill them, or do you select a spot with the map?

4. Can you be killed by it while flying a plane or helicopter?

5. Can you be killed by it underwater or underground, such as in a submarine or in the underground tunnels?

6. Can you be killed by it if you're under a bridge?

Thanks

3. For $500,000 you have to aim manually. $750,000 buys you an aimbot and lets you select a player.

4. Yes.

5. The kill radius is about 4 stories. Anything that puts that between you and the blast should protect you, including water, roofs, etc.

6. Most of them, yes.

The rage laser mechanic appears different between manual and automatic modes. Automatic may or may not have a greater blast radius, and/or it may kill via another method. This is explored in some detail elsewhere.

Yacht defenses are defenseless against the rage laser. I do not know about the executive search, however my hunch is that the VIP/CEO is vulnerable to it. Automatic is also more effective against players in aircraft. IIRC faster aircraft can escape manual targeting mode. Word is that underwater below 100ft depth may be protected from the rage laser, which may be due to the blast radius limitations or something else(100ft is far beyond the 4 storeys limit commonly cited.)

I use the word 'may' and don't speak in absolutes here because none of this is tested by myself. At least not intentionally.

I have yet to actually fire the rage laser myself.

To be specific, it’s about 4 floors of a parking garage. Not entirely sure what that actually is considering that this game is scaled very weirdly.

Is it just me or is the Hydra much less powerful in VTOL mode than it used to be?

It wouldn't surprise me, considering there was a nerf to the "rapid landing" technique. IIRC, you could fly straight at the ground, then pull the nose up at a certain altitude while engaging VTOL mode, and you would land safely. There may be more to it than that, but I never tried it.

Could be, but it's ridiculously underpowered now. If I'm going straight down while thousands of feet in the air and I engage VTOL, it won't slow me down enough to keep me from slamming into the ground even at full throttle. It's gotten me killed a few times already.

Realism.

I'll have to check that out. I pancaked my Hydra just off my yacht last night and was a bit surprised at how I had no power to recover, but at the time I just wrote it off as R*.

Here’s a silly question; I’m thinking about creating a second character and have read the money between both your characters is shared.

If so, would it be possible to have both characters own a vehicle warehouse (or anything with a cool down) and switch between them to make money to avoid that cool down? Or is the cool down based on your account, so it happens regardless?

I think it's account based but I'm not certain.

So today was pretty neat, helped my older brother get back up to speed in GTA5( He stopped some time after the F&F update) and get some easy cash for him.

Of course for every good deed I did, (loaning him my Vigilante to complete the Time Trial, helped him on the treasure hunt and the headshot challenge etc.) I balanced it out with some harmless(ish) pranks, as brothers do.

Like for example, using the Vigilante’s boost to launch a car at him and when we went to do the prep work for the Akula, didn’t tell him about the elevator. :D

My goal is to get him a Ceo office and at least some way towards a Vehicle warehouse so he can get some sustainable money rolling in.

Of course some people for whatever reason like to try and ruin our fun like the guy who booby trapped my facility entrance while getting the deluxos, however my experience+ a dabble of paranoia made us enter the facility from the back and avoid them. :sly:

Ok they blew us up when we exited, but hey the Deluxos were safe. :P

@xXKingJoshXx There is a parking lot near Maze Bank Tower with red walls and a ramp with a Pisswasser logo on it. If you hide in there, you'll be safe from orbital strikes.

I absolutely cannot wait for the GTA Online meta to turn into 'every player in the server tries to hide under the parking lot at once'. Maybe when the next step up from facilities (presumably where they just port the underground from Pokemon Diamond to GTA) is released we can persuade R* to put a property there.

So what exactly does the security room upgrade for the facility provide? R* has some rather vague details on what it does and I rather get all the info I can before plopping down that much cash for it.

From what I can work out from the GTA Wiki, you get access to strike teams (basically upgraded Merryweather Mercenaries) and some respawning weapons. It's not really worth the investment from what I can see; the respawning weapons are a little convenient, but at 5 minutes per respawn it's not worth nearly 800k.

The only perk I’ve seen that benefited me was a minigun that spawned in my buddy’s facility.

Other than that, haven’t upgraded my facility at all; just used it to start the heists.

To be honest I'm on the fence about it. A facility seems nice but besides using it for the heists there's not much else to get from it. Should I? Should I not? Arrgh!!

I would buy a facility. I have the windfarm one with security room and it was $2M. There are cheaper options but once you host all of the heists you have probably made most of (if not all) of the money back. The act 3 finale on hard with 40% cut pays $600k, use the barrage instead of the tank and you get $700k ($650k if you use the tank, subtract 120k setup for act 3).

Other than heists, you can only really use it as a spawn point and a place to store a few extra vehicles. You can enter to lose the cops in plain site but also if you host and complete act 3, calling Lester to lose the cops becomes free (not worth a huge about but saves a few hundred here and there).

I like having the facility. It's great having an underground base like some sort of super villain.

It's not cheap to fully upgrade so I understand why people are hesitant.

Interesting fact: The cheapest facility is equivalent to the cost of removing 6250 stars from your wanted level.

What if you take the cheapest facility, subtract the profits from playing all heists once on hard, how many stars then?

On hard, including first time, in order and loyalty bonuses, it's the equivalent of Lester calling you to remove 7125 of his stars :P

Based on a 40% cut.

I have to admit that this new air quota game mode is actually quite fun. Played it 3 times now and made like $400k :D

So it's worth it to host the heists. How much are the 'loyalty' and 'all in order' bonuses again?

I've had some time off this game lately, jumped back on and got about 50% of the way through the doomsday heist but been fancying a play so might jump on tonight.

In total it's 1,125,000 if I did the math right. So even without the bonuses you'd make a few hundred grands in profit by completing them on hard difficulty.
