The silhouette looks to have some connotations of the DeTemaso Mangusta to me. That, plus Hemi power makes it a quirky alternative to other 70's supercars.

Cool.

It's surprising how I can overlook wire wheels on a car like this. Maybe because I'm so distracted by how good it looks in purple. That, and I had no idea the Swiss made such an peculiar mid-engined sports car 40 years ago.

Cool.

Also, I just noticed the door handles are in completely different positions on the picture in the OP than the one @GranTurismo916 posted.

The metallic pink car was the "autoshow" pre-production car Monteverdi hauled around shows, the red one was how the final production version looked. Final in the most literal sense of the words

@Jahgee1124 I forgot to add one important bit of data to the op's info: Hai means Shark, can you add it up?

You do realize that $27K in the 1970s is the equivalent of $166,905.11 today....

It's nearer to $226,000 in today's dollars. Taking into account the exchange rates at the time and the exchange rates today. ;)

Never knew this car existed, and yet its looks is similar to what i have seen before...

Gets a cool for me because ... just because

Done

"Is this a Pantera?"

"No, this one has a big block Hemi. Also it's Swiss."

Sub zero.

It's hideous.
So hideous.
It's 1970 and it's a supercar with wire wheels.
Looks like an inbred Miura/Europa mix.

Ugh. That massive wheel arch makes it look like a dually pickup truck. The exhausts stick out too far. The trunk lid looks unnatural in it's position.

It's also nothing more than a concept really, as only two were built at the time.

Uncool. I'm sure it was fast with the Hemi, but it's just too ugly to ignore.

Seriously. Get your eyes checked.

It looks like a turd in the back and a poorly built kit car in the front. Uniqueness does not equal beauty. It's lines are completely ungraceful. It you look at it from only the front it looks sort of like a Ferrari of the same era, and from the back some sort of French family car.

And wire wheels? It's 1970, not 1940. It's like putting a car phone in a new 2015 car.

The taillights look utterly boring and unoriginal.

The windows behind the doors are too big, or they shouldn't be there at all. Windows like that belong on GT's, not MR's. Intakes would have been better.

Again, the fender flares, appear at odd angles and seem to stick out from the rest of the body too far.

The door handles are too low, especially for a low car.

I think any generation PRIUS looks better. At least they put thought into the Prius, with this thing they just drew an angley car in the front and matched with a curvy rear. Terrible design idea. If it had been good, other companies would have designed cars like this.

That's all well and good but... Doesn't change the fact that you're wrong.

They weren't good in the 60's either...

That's all well and good but... Doesn't change the fact that you're wrong.

So are you going to explain why it looks good or just tell me I'm wrong? I just gave at least 5 reasons why it's ugly.

Ferrari 250 GTOs raced with wire wheels in the mid 60s, so if anything the Monteverdi has "racing car wheels", Ferrari ones no less. By the way, they're timeless and classy.

And you fail. You try to tell us what's beautiful? Oh, pardon us. Surely, any generic 60s/70s Detroit hunk of iron stylized after a brick is much better looking than this. Go on, preach, tell us how we're all wrong on something completely subjective and how you're right...even if your opinion has no argument besides saying "Uh...it's my opinion". You just compiled your own prejudices and tastes and try to pass them for reasons? Oh, come on. You know so much about design that you've failed to realized that car companies actually have designed an "angley car in the front and matched with a curvy rear", and not just one but many!

There you go. Straight lines in the front, curvy rear. Still not as sexy as the Monteverdi and sans Hemi, much less cool even though, being a Daytona, it's very cool.

Look at that! DeTomaso Mangusta! Flared wheel-arches, curvacious butt, and straight lines with angles in the front! HIDEOUS! Everyone will agree!

Oh, dear god. Wedge-wanna be front with angly headlamps and grille? With a curvy rear? DAMN YOU, ERIC CLAPTON!

And ewww, just ewwww. I won't even dignify that with a counter-argument.

THIS is beautiful.

So is this.

And this.

As well as many "generic detroit hunks of iron styled like bricks" from the era, which is where the Monteverdi got it's engine from.

There isn't any "wrong" when it comes to beauty, it's all in the eye of thr beholder. The difference between us is that I'm giving reasons for my opinions while you are not. You are only interested in tearing down my opinion, which only pisses me off and doesn't help your cause. Lay off.

A solid cool, I love late 60's-70's era sports cars and this one seems to tick most of the boxes(the most important one being looks). Having the engine right by your ear would seemingly become very annoying on a longer trip though so it keeps it from SZ territory.

Doesn't change the fact that you're wrong.

No, he's not.

There isn't a massive following for those "hunks of iron styled after a brick" either, right?

When was the last time you saw millions of people foaming at the mouth for one of these? Um, never.

Not really sure about cool or not, but it is truly insane. This picture really tells you everything you need to know:

Of course there was an engine cover there, but still, how did anyone think this was a good idea?

That looks awesome. And terrifying.

Gee why doesn't the Monteverdi have a huge following? Maybe because a victim of a gruesome bandsaw accident could count the number of these cars in existence on one hand.

A car's following means nothing when we talk about beauty. When we talk about coolness it does, but that's exactly why so many muscle cars are so uncool...
