The redline for the AP2 was 8000 RPM, with the limiter at 8300.
And yes, the engine is 2.2L, my brain derped.
Still slightly annoyed the Japanese version were slightly more powerful though...
Fixed for youGet used to it. The EPA/DOT/USCS hates car enthusiasts.
*patiently waits for Roger's opinion.*
Well he voted SU, so I can't imagine it'll be positive.
Its a Honda there is a large fringe of that fan base that has a F&F stigma. Also I'm not entirely sure how it gets associated with The Fast and the Furious.

They have moved on to "stanced" out cars and drifter style. I see them all the time.Maybe 5 years ago, but I don't think that's really even a thing anymore. I can't even remember the last time I saw a "riced out" Honda.
Solid 'Cool'. Even though it gets out torqued by a lawnmower and gets horrible gas mileage (comparable to my car even though I have over 3x the engine displacement), it's a nice, fun, peppy car to drive around. But too many people confuse 'fun' with 'fast', which is why so many of them are riced out.
I think the rest of this thread should put into words why I voted seriously uncool on this car, but if it doesn't, then here are my reasons:
Also, those VTEC jokes were never funny.
- It attracts an altogether anal level of attention. "Oh, it's the 2004 model with the 2.2 litre VTEC which can only do 8300 RPM as opposed to the 2000 model with the 2.0 VTEC which can do 9000 RPM."
- Try explaining to anybody who doesn't know a lot about cars why you bought a Honda sports car rather than a MX-5 or a Lotus. You'll have to resort to the above, and then you'll just look like an anorak.
- It fails to pass any of the basic things which almost always automatically make a car cool. (Featuring prominently in a very cool film or TV show, being built in Sweden, being a French car which is actually good etc. etc.)
- It manages to pass the basic test of whether something is Seriously Uncool or not, namely, I associate this car with playing GT2 as a kid.
I find you would impress more people with a 9,000rpm, high displacement V8 before an I4 revving the same.
You make a good point. It's a shame there are next to no stock high displacement V8's that do that and very few modified ones.
Remember, modified cars are uncool.
Not fast? Riced out?
I mean sure there's a few select "rice" modifications done to S2000s, as is just about any car, but not really as many as one would think. Is this car being mislabeled because it's made by Honda?
Depends on how bad it looks. But then there's my dad who considers every imported vehicle to be a rice burner. And you consider that rice?
